Morning guys & gals! I’ve had to wait a long time to finally post the first drive of the Crown Signia! Make sure to let Toyota know what you think about this all new SUV. HAVE A GREAT DAY!
Good morning Joe! Great review - I think this will be our next car. It checks all the boxes for me. I actually prefer the exterior looks of this vehicle over a Lexus. Thanks for your attention to detail, and I really appreciate your sense of humour. Cheers
The instrument cluster shows a fuel range of 562 miles on a full tank. That is impressive. Price is a little high but I think Toyota knows majority of buyers will be older who will still purchase regardless. The best thing about the Crown is they are built in Japan.
The Crown is quite nice and maybe slightly better than normal, but with Raitis Rides doing this presentation this car is now Badass and your style is “The Best” never compromise. I think you are number one in this category
The Toyota people know how to make a car for the US market that is destined to be popular. This Crown with the low top that you can just pile all kinds of stuff on top is something people are going to like. Simply a great review, Joe, you nailed this Toyota Crown.
I just purchased a 2024 Venza limited, very classy and understated with all the tech you could ever want. This is too stylized imo but I think that's part of the sales problem the Venza had was being too "boring" possibly...
My sales person said the trunk space was a miss w a lot of buyers specially the younger crowd but was very popular w the older crowd the Venza has a beautiful interior and outside design but this replacement (the crown insignia ) I can’t say I’m a it I prefer the outgoing Venza latest design plus it has better mpg
I must say, that is the best looking Toyota EVER, IMHO. Fluid, muscular and toned. Congrats to Toyota for getting rid of the strafing lines they normally use. Thanks, Joe, as always, job well done!
Always a comprehensive review. Regarding the wheel opening moldings, like the gloss black, a nice contrast over body colored moldings. They don't look cheap like textured plastic moldings. Agreed zonk to the bean counters for cheaping out on hood struts.
One item you missed, if you have a handfull to go in the trunk, you can wave your leg near the right rear corner and the liftgate will open after you here a beep. I just received mine as soon as it arrived, the Limited is very Limited, most dealers around the San Francisco area have plenty of the XLE but not the Liimited. When I saw the local Toyota dealership had one in transit from Japan, I put a deposit on it, I arrived and it is great. The Navigation system has been improved in that my previous 2023 Crown took a few minutes for the voice system to boot up, so you couldn't put your destination into it until it booted up. This Crown Signia so far boots up right away.
I'd like to hear a comparison of front seats' comfort adjustability & internal road noise for Signia Ltd vs RX. Also a saddle/tan interior option. The exterior is a win all the way around.
Great car, 2.5 L engine is one of the best . It doesn't have a impresive power but it's still reliable engine, oil change every 5000 miles and do not overfill, the oil must be between medium and full line .
Great job Joe and Steven. In fact I like the gloss black not the flat black around the wheel well and the bottom because it blends with inside of the wheel well. Looks sharp with the red of course.
Love the exterior styling, great ICE, and wheels. I wish the interior had a two-tone color scheme. My friend's new Corolla is actually more attractive regarding interior color styling. Well thought out layout, especially for cargo.
I find this car to be very desirable. I think it makes sense - Toyota drivers are often wealthy boomers, wealthy but don't identify with the flashy Lexus label but wouldn't mind (and can afford) something nicer than their beloved Camry or Prius. And, GM had a lot of success with Oldsmobile and Buick, similarly 'not a Cadillac' for many decades in a different era - Toyota may be figuring out that same subtle market segment this time around.
What a good YTber for Toyota! Equipped with older battery technology, nickel metal hydride, it can then be emphasized the focus on reliability. Funny! 🤣
The official body type for the Crown Signia is "Wagon". 😉 I purchased mine and the first road trip was from Martinsburg, WV to Mystic, CT. I drove no more than 5 MPH over the speed limit and the fuel economy for the trip was 40 MPG. It's a dream to drive
@@NomenClature-o8s not anymore lol. Now I’m cross shopping the Mazda CX50 with the 25 4Runner. I have a feeling the 4Runner will be way out of my budget though zz
Another great review by Joe. I’m waiting on my 2025 Crown Platinum sedan in Bronze Age (not the bi-tone). It should be here by the end of July. I wanted the 2025 Camry until I sat in it and had to struggle to get back out. It sits way to low for an older lady with back and knee problems.
I was told by several dealers that the older demographic who bought Avalons did not like getting in and out of them. They were too low. Toyota must know this. They raised the "H" point (seating position), but the ground clearance in the Crown sedan is about the same as a Camry.
I think this Crown has a great stance. Love the tire/wheel combo. Great looking profile from all angles - except when I get to the front end. Maybe I could adjust, but I'm not sure. It's the grill. Just not diggin the molded look. I like the rear black panel. It makes it look, for lack of a better word, "cooler" and less 'suburbanite mom'. But maybe for the weekend when the hubby's driving it, maybe they could have gone with black satin - at least on the lower area where it bends around. That's going to be an area of a lot of dust, mud, road spray, whatnot. Hahaha, the "my dad always told me..."!! Nicely done, Joe. 🤣👏
We did not like it. My wife was ready to get Limited and myself XLE. We both test drove XLE. The car ride is boring, sorry. With a little exaggeration, it reminds me driving a bus or boat. Engine was little too loud when accelerating. Built quality is very nice, plenty of room in front and rear seats, seats very comfortable with perfect driving height. I would prefer car to be ~10 inches shorter and ~10K$ cheaper. It can be done - just replace leather with plastic and remove some luxury features - then call it "base" (and maybe call it Camry Wagon? - to avoid damage to Crown line prestige). Right after this test drive I test drove Kia Sportage Hybrid LX FWD (I don't like AWD, I hate moon roof, I prefer cloth seats). What a difference. Kia was sharp, quiet, tight cornering, almost zippy. I loved it. I am getting it in few months. For ~30K$ you get hybrid with 42mpg on regular gas - unbelievable. So wifey can get her dreamed RX hybrid (Iridium with Macadamia white real leather seats) - it is another "bus" ride in my opinion, but she loves these colors.
Thx for the detailed review, Joe! You rock! I like how Toyota designed this CUV. It looks nice, especially with those 21 inch wheels. The trunk looks big enough where I can put 4 golf bags when me and my boys get a hall pass from our wives to play golf! 😁 I’m ok with the black bumper in the back. It slims the rear a little bit. Not sure about the ECVT tho. I’m not a big fan of CVT transmissions. But I do like the 39/37 mpg numbers, especially with the gas prices in SD. Did you grab lunch at Jamul casino, BTW? 😁 This car is on my Top 5. We are looking to get a new ride before end of year. Thx again. 🤙🏽
I always enjoy your videos, thank you! I think the Crown Signia is a very handsome CUV-wagon. I would love it more if it had fog lights and more ground clearance like an Outback. Having said this, I love wagons! Volvo XC-90 has a lot of ground clearance I think 🤔 and looks good to me.
Joe I like your consistency about hating black trim on cars. BUT here's a moment to learn a bit about car design, and this Crown Signia is the perfect example: black trim around the wheels, and on the bottom of the doors, gives the impression of ground clearance (and suspension travel). In "some" cases, like on this Crown Signia, it's actually intentional and visually beneficial. And in the case of on a Subaru, for example, the black trim of course has functional benefits of durability, but that's a different thing. I'm just talking visual proportion. And while yes, matte black plastic often is a cheap-car thing that saves costs and looks crappy, in certain specific cases like this one, it's likely the designer's choice. Squint. Look what the black does - on a car like this Crown Signia, which is fighting hard to be called a "crossover" and not a "station wagon", it's a visual trick. And why they, in this case, uses nicely-finished gloss black and not cheap matte plastic - to give you the black proportion of big wheel wells and extra ground clearance, while still feeling finished and expensive. An early, similar example is whitewall tires. Look at a car with whitewalls. Squint. It does the exact same thing, visually, as modern-day low profile tires. Great work as always and black wheel trim is still definitely a ZONK on most cars! :-)
Had 7 Subarus including 4 Outbacks, one Crosstrek(least favorite), one Forester, and my original one the 1993 Impreza front wheel drive which I used studded snow tires on and it was great. I am considering this Crown Signia due to size, wagonlike bearing, awd, hybrid, and the fact that the closest Subaru dealer is 2 plus hours in every direction, but there is a Toyota dealer within 50 miles. I am like the grandparents from Calgary... but it is a little too rich for my blood and not sure about tires. I run all terrrain tires on my 2020 Outback with 75,000 miles. Bring on the Outback hybrid soon Subaru or I will have to seek alternatives as we are a one vehicle family living in the middle of nowhere and do not want to break down. Original cars in the 80's were Hondas but their CRV did not have a good enough AWD system and slipped in snow and got stuck in mud that the Subaru would have had no trouble with. Also had Civics and a Honda Wagon using studded snow tires in Vermont but now in altitude of New Mexico. A little concerned about ground clearance as well. We do not always plow or shovel our road in every snowstorm and it can have quite a bit of snow that we plow our Outback through just barely...
Can always count on Raiti to be quick to the punch! I have a Crown, love it though interior is a bit drab in all black. Shame they didn’t give you one in saddle brown to review.
Thanks for the review, Joe. I really like the Crown Signia but am a bit confused - it's replacing Venza (more expensive) yet missing HUD, powered steering wheel, reclining 2nd-row seats, and a spare tire (despite having a larger cargo area) 🤔
I have a question Joe. I have the 2024 Venza limited and I just watched the new video on the 2025 Crown Signia. If they both have the same engine, the 2.5, why does the crown have more hp than my Venza? Thanks Dante
This is a fine looking SUV. My wife has been driving Toyota and Lexus vehicles for years. The problem she has with the new models of most vehicles are the high window sills - can't reach out and down to use the bank and food drive-throughs, mail box, etc. These look pretty high. I know you can't address every unique issue in your reviews, but I'm just saying . . .
You can kind of see how they integrated some design cues from the Lexus suv, yet they kept most of the Toyota designs (i.e. the back side of the car) - which isn't necessarily bad, but obviously it's not a Lexus product so, I guess that's expected.
Wow, I did not like the Crown sedan at all. However this looks more like a wagon and I much prefer that shape to an SUV. I also am very happy the Prius powertrain is used here as that is guaranteed to be good for 300K miles; the new hybrid powertrain in the Tundra is having some major reliability problems. If Toyota made a TRD version of this with the hybrid MAX spec and that would be a poor man's RS6 if ever there were one.

The problem she has with the new models of most vehicles are the high window sills - can't reach out and down to use the bank and food drive-throughs, mail box, etc. These look pretty high. I know you can't address every unique issue in your reviews, but I'm just saying . . .
Joes is driving in Rancho San Diego towards Jamul…
Did you guys stop the traffic behind you? It’s usually busy street 😊😊🤔
Yes we actually did!
Can't wait to test this vehicle !
I would like the top trim without the biggest wheels please. I want a smoother ride and cheaper tire replacement cost.
totally agree! I hate big wheels.
That is an interesting idea Trevor!
