- FIRST DRIVE: The Civic Hybrid is back but is it better than ever from Honda? On the outside you will discover new 18in wheels, refreshed exterior styling and an all new color. On the inside you will be greeted by an updated 2-tone leather interior. Under the hood is 2.0L inline-4 paired to a 2-motor hybrid setup to produce 200HP. Is the 2025 Honda Civic hybrid a BETTER new sedan than a Toyota Corolla hybrid?

Last generation of Honda Civic Hybrid was 2014-2015....I have one 220000 mlies, only changed one Edison bulb.... It's amazing.
As a Honda owner there's a reason why I and my father can stick with Hondas forever, it's like the last thing you can ever depend on 😍
civic is.... unique
LMAO! Camry sales just increased after the reveal of this abomination.
Toyota sells more and still more reliable.
* My father and I.
@@righteousone1 Camry LE hybrid, if you can get one without a markup, is the no-brainer choice for a hybrid sedan now. Camry hybrid and Corolla Cross hybrid are the no brainer choices for a relatively cheap, reliable, point A to point B transportation device.
Some folks hating on the Civic hybrid as it’s more expensive than Corolla hybrid…of course it is as it’s closer to Prius in engine and build quality and better and more refined than the Corolla hybrid!
Its also apples and oranges in trim too. The Hybrid Sport is 28750. Of course some bait car loss leader no one ever buys (when they upsell the 28.6k SE) is going to be cheaper.
Much bigger in the back seats too. Corolla is way too cramped.
@@sk-un5jq Yes, and much faster than Corolla hybrid
The Civic is one of the Japanese cars that gave American automakers the wakeup call they needed.
They use their horn to wake them up..
And Corolla is the other
Unfortunately it didn't wake them up too much, GM never made a car that could compete with the CIvic overall, the Cavalier was ok but never improved and the Ford did somewhat better with the Escort.
Then buy the accord
@@bryang9290the best small GM cars were the Prism & Vibe (rebadged Corolla&Matrix)😂
The front grill reminds me of Acura’s currently styling, I’m really like it. I just wanna say Joe that I pulled the trigger on a 24 Civic Si a few weeks ago and watching your videos on it helped me make the decision lol. Thanks Joe
nice choice, civic si is a blast, fun and chuckable car ;)
It reminds me of Genesis and Fords. The color reminds me of Audi. Headlights remind me of 1995 Saturn. Tires remind me of Chevy.
both , corolla or civic , front end like a vacuum cleaner.
Makes sense. Acura is a division of Honda.
@@Quietmedows02isn't the hybrid faster?
Way better than Prius and Corolla. Civic has the everlasting appearances that would still be relevant for more than 15 years to come. The car that your son wouldn't shy to drive to school. All rounder beauty..
Much better than the Corolla Hybrid. It’s not even close!
Oh wow! That is a serious statement
Price is much closer to CAMRY than to Corolla. Civic doesn't stand a chance against Camry.
Muy buen carro,yo quisiera tener uno como este me hace mucha falta y se lo voy agradecer de ❤
Pricing doesn’t compare to a Corolla.
Fully agree!
I am definitely going with the new Civic Hybrid. I have owned more Civics than any other cars. I simply think this will be the very best, even better than the 2022 and the 2023 I have owned.
Physical HVAC controls, a shift knob, and fingerprint resistant surfaces? Take my money, Honda! (oh and about that piano black strip, I'll just tell people "wash your damned hands before you get in my car!") Looks like Honda has a winner here. Thanks Joe!
I'm absolutely sold on this car-- great blend of fuel efficiency, performance, design, and technology. I love the traditional styling in that it looks like a car and doesn't have spaceship styling nor gigantic screens taking up the whole dashboard. Looks like a 10/10. I only wish they had the Boost Blue Pearl color available as that one is me and my wife's favorite (hopefully you are listening Honda!). But wow--- what a well-balanced package-- looks like the perfect city car as I live in Chicago. I'm happy to see the high horsepower and torque, as that's often needed in city driving to quickly merge when the lane suddenly is ending, or when I need to make a quick left when there's a brief opening in heavy traffic, etc. This will be our next purchase absolutely, well done!
@@briantomory8399 The Boost Blue color is exclusive to and available on the Hatchback models, Sport, Sport Hybrid & Sport Touring Hybrid. All Sports trims should and the optional black exterior emblems included. You now have the black Hybrid emblem available, but oddly, not the Touring emblem. But the College Hills Honda website has that, along with a $40 horn upgrade kit and neoprene wetsuit type key fob covers in various colors. You can buy several at the price to replace when they get worn out to prevent your keyfobs from getting scratched up if you put other things in your pocket.
LasFit has the LED replacement bulbs for the taillights.
Raiti, you do 100% better than other car reviewers, you go in depth with every detail of the car!
It's not often that I get to see a prototype, so thanks for this extra special look, Joe.
The spokes on the wheels look like little rockets up close 🚀 looks cool 😎👌
Oh man, I never noticed that!
Good call
Man that color is great!
2007 Honda Civic Hybrid owner that I bought new. It has served me well all these years & was waiting for its return to get another one.
It's definitely better than Toyota Corolla hybrid, I have the 2022 Accord 2.0T, all thanks to Mr Jim for letting my dreams comes through.
Hi how do I get in contact with him?? I have lost a lot online to scammers, and I'm a bit skeptical to invest again, but I have been hearing and seeing good reviews and testimonies lately about Jim, please let me know how I can get to know him or get he's contact.
Much better looking than the accord hybrid.
Accord is so fugly!
agreed
I'd argue the 2022 civic sedan looks better than the 2022 accord too tbh
The new accords look like they forgot to finish designing it. So boring looking.
I said the same thing but after I took a dump...
I was ready to pull the trigger on the new Prius and then this comes out. I've had six civics in my lifetime, my favorite was my Gen 8 and those are my all-time favorite. My last one was a 2018 SI which I sold after a year due to the Rev Hang. If this really gets 50 mpg it will be my seventh Civic.
This may be the one to replace my 2016 Focus I bought new after graduation. Got totaled last week and have been looking for a daily driver and this looks super solid.
Love the tech upgrades for 2025, MPGs, and I don't know, those wheels are really doing it for me, Joe 😊
Maybe when you see them
In person you will like them more????
@RaitisRides No Joe, I was trying to say that I was really digging them sir🫡 I think I wrote it wrong 😅
@@DarkJediChrisG-1425now that makes sense! I guess you will REALLY like them when you see them in person.😂
@@RaitisRides You better bet your bottom dollar 💵 😏
@@DarkJediChrisG-1425heck yeah man!
This such a button-downed look for a Civic. They did a great job. The 200hp hybrid is going to be a real selling point
Happy to see you're in my city ! Indeed, our roads are the worst 😭 love the content 💚
Looks good from every angle. Honda really did an awesome job with the styling. The Sport Touring is the best trim for an every day commute. Super sharp looking little sedan.
The best Easter egg is behind the center console tray❤

Man there is no question about that...Honda Civic is a better sedan than the Toyota Corolla. The Honda Civic is the better looking both exterior and interior and the driving experience in Honda Civic is lot better than Toyota Corolla. I pick the Honda Civic all day everyday over any other compact sedan 💯
Love your videos man! You always bring a touch of laughter which I appreciate
I have a 8th gen 2011 civic hybrid. Always park inside, only needs the scheduled maintenance. Honda absolutely builds reliable cars.
I just bought this exact car but it’s all black and it’s a beauty no regrets
Being a former Honda Accord owner this one is the one I would consider again. I owned two 2003 Honda Accords and only recently sold one last year with 188k miles on it. The new civic seems to be the same size as the 2003 - 2007 model. This one just looks so much better and love the interior/exterior and the mpg.
If you have the money get the Accord. Smoother and more insulated on rough roads and very roomy rear seat space.
@@sk-un5jqThe Hybrid get ANC noise cancelling on the Hybrid. The touring, gets deading in the wheels also.
I have a 2023 Sport Hybrid CRV. Best vehicle I have ever owned. All I can say is drive one. The Hybrid system speaks for itself. I get 43 miles per gallon, however, I don't drive at freeway speeds. My RAV-4 felt like a truck. My CRV drives like a car.
This is priced more like a Camry than a Corolla.
For around the same pricing, you can get a Camry hybrid with more power, more room, rear HVAC vents, similar or better fuel economy, and a spare tire.
For the reasons you said, I'm strongly learning towards a camy hybrid.
32k Civic doesn't even have a spare tire...wild
and much better exterior looks
The Camry is huge though
This is lighter and more nimble than the Camry. Plus you can get this loaded for around the same price as a base hybrid Camry. So i’d much rather get the Civic for that price.
Joe and Lori do such a consistently excellent job with these videos. Informative, detailed, unique and last but not least , the Joe Raiti humor that will make you spit out your Twinkies if you're not careful!
Joe used to be a teacher and it shows. He knows how to be informative and entertaining. I love it when he talks about the history of a car.
@@lyndahammel9502 He's a natural at this - these reviews - and his background as a teacher ( a good one; not all of them can form the connection with the "students", or car buffs) only enhances these best car reviews on the internet. He's one of my go to's and the personality/sense of humor separates him from the pack.
@steveo8015 true! I've been following him from the beginning. I'm a teacher also and know that sometimes a teacher needs to be abit silly to hold the audience's attention. I love the history lesson at the beginning of the video. Imo Joe is one of the best.
@@lyndahammel9502 Your reply held my attention, so you represent the point I was trying to make, "Teach." The history lesson is great, no doubt, with just the right amount of Raiti histrionics to draw you in for the rest of the vid. Let's not forget Lori; she is sensational in her own right and doesn't pull too tight on Joes leash... lets him be his creative self, much to the benefit of us all.
@steveo8015 Lori encouraged Joe to make TH-cam car videos and has helped him from the beginning. Lori is a treasure. Blessed is the man who has a good wife.
Wow- I thought for sure you were gonna "ZONK" the lack of lumbar support in a "premium" civic;)))! Great review as always...this car is a definite contender for my $$$! Thanks for always bringing the energy and enthusiasm- you really seem to appreciate your continuing success!
I actually enjoy the seats to be honest. Thank you for your kind words Mark!
Up to 2017 Toyota had sold 10,000,000 Hybrid vehicles worldwide. Seems like a solid technology. Good luck Honda, the Civic is a nice looking car.
30% (or 3.6 million vehicles) of Toyota's 11 million global sales in 2023 was hybrids, compared to 20% of Honda global sales in 2023. Honda has a good hybrid system as well.
What a huge Improvement! Thanks for the great review Joe! This really comes down to this car or the new Toyota Camry SE for me. Looks to me that this Civic has alot of pep which is very similar to the Camry. I'm glad they got rid of the 1.5 Turbo in the normal Civics. I just wish it had lumbar support. Currently I have it in my 13 Accord Sport manual and I never thought that feature would be so important to me for my long drives. Looking for a replacement soon, got 485,000 km on the Accord with the same clutch. ( a dying breed I know :-(
You are so very welcome! Very good point!
Nice review Joe. I always like the Civic. Great reliable commuter that fun to drive, easy to park and makes great fuel economy. I like the color and the wheels too. The price is a bit high but what isn't these days. Let's see what the dealers do with it.
Very good comment Robert! The Sport Hybrid has a price of $28,750!
Love the color…….and the wheels !!! Sometimes wheels make the car 🙂
I’m a firm believer they can always make the car……or break it. 😉
Call me crazy but I prefer the prop rod over the hood struts some cars have. I’ve seen too many struts fail and for the rare occasion I need the hood up, I’d rather have a dependable prop rod. I also personally don’t mind the lack of vents and whatnot in the rear. For me personally my cars are just for me to get from point a to point b. I drive to and from work and have no passengers so I go for reliability and comfort over everything else. I currently drive a 22 civic SI and I kinda want to switch to one of these to switch back to an automatic and use as a daily driver
Love it Joe! If I didn’t have a 2024 EXL I’d be getting one of these. BTW, I achieved an average MPG of 42.2 on a 1300 mile trip. Pretty dang good but falls short of the hybrid.
I have always had Older Blue Hondas with Grey Interiors. I fell that the Grey gives it more clarity vs the all Black Interiors that make the Car look like a Cave.
The grey seats and interior are available with certain color paints. It looks perfect with the Blue Lagoon Pearl. This is exactly what I would get if I didn't get a Sport Touring Hybrid Hatchback. Urban Grey Pearl would be my second choice for either.
Your reviews are absolutely fantastic. Don't stop doing them. Cheers!😁
Love that Blue Lagoon Pearl.
This car looks like a home run. We'll see how it ages but its a heck of s 1st impression.
Earned a sub on this one, thanks for the entertainment and information all in one :)
Edit: currently driving the 2015 Civic LX at 82k miles and it’s running great
The price difference is BIG for the top of the line Sport Touring Hybrid compared to the Corolla.
I am definitely getting the Honda. I put a call in to a dealer, I'm hoping I can be first in line, the salesman sounded excited LMAO
Mine on pre order. Waiting until end of July , early August. My 6th Honda
Can I pre-order a hatchback now?
@@mattforst6591 I believe so
I’m in Toronto. ETA late July or early Aug I was told

They nailed this 100% I am getting one been a long time since I really liked a new car but this is Honda hitting it out of the park.
Honda really did it right!
Glad you came to Montreal ! Really fun to watch you review that car those area I know so well. Your on throttle 🤣👌
The best civic hybrid ever made, so far!!
$31k?? That's so sensible I'm fully expecting car salespeople to keep the prices low 😂
I'd rather get a much better Camry hybrid for 31k.
Very expensive compared to the Corolla of 25k
😂 By the time the dealership finishes with all the mark-ups, this car will hit 36k easily. At 36 grand, you may as well buy the CRV hybrid. It's a much bigger and nicer car, IMO.
And it still gets great MPGs. The days of sub 30k vehicles are gone, unfortunately 🤨
@@ericboamahamoah4074 Yeah, this is nearing Camry money
@@pigg20021 camry LE is at 29k with 50mpg. I think it’s well equipped for 30k.
100% better if you can walk in and bring it away straight with reasonable price.
Staying on dealer’s call list and pay above msrp for a Corolla is just crazy.
Other that the aspec 6mt / type s This is going to kill the base integra.
Yup! I'm definitely getting one of these soon!! Thanks for all the info Joe!! God Bless!
Great review Joe. Love your videos. I gotta say, that Civic looks sharp. I own a 2020 that has never let me down but maybe I will upgrade to this one. The lack of a spare tire is a MAJOR zonk for me.
If your 2020 is still working, I highly suggest you keep it. The interest rates are not worth it at this point
11th gen Civic Hybrid hatchback has been available for about a year now in Israel, I bought my tenth gen 1.5t hatchback from someone who was getting it. I think it's not quite as good as the 2025 one coming out in North America, which seems fantastic. Hopefully they start selling that version here too, top contender for my next car if so.
I love you man and love your videos, always very conclusive, and you have all our questions answered! God bless you and Lori!
I’m early! Loving the Lagoon Blue Pearl color on it!
It works so well in the sun!
I thought he said Blue Magoo initially.
THis Looks ALOT better...Love the wheels. Love the LINES... Except those tailights still needs more work.. THey look cheap. it has to do with the white backup light..(looks odd)
Quick question: With what they did with the civic hybrid - making it faster than the Si. Do you think or feel the Type-R and Si are about to get an HP/performance bump?
Honda always impressing with their face-lift models, I was hoping for a 6 speed in this style 😎
Such a beauty. Honda and Acura have by far the best interiors in the business.
Modern Spare makes a kit that will fit under the trunk floor for less than $500, for those inclined to change their own tire.
I also believe you can get the spare tire, jack and such they have in the LX and ICE Sport through Honda. They just put the fix a flat kit and inflator to save weight for better MPG and performance.
I love that they added the Option to have a Grey Interior. I think it looks a lot better than All Black.
Unfortunately they only Offer the Grey Interior on 3 of their Colors instead of all of the Color.
Only available on the Platinum White Pearl, Blue Lagoon Pearl, and Meteorite Grey Metallic.
I would or Love if the Grey Leather Interior was also Available on the Solar Silver Metallic.
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
Joe and Lori Thnxs for the great 🎥 work 👍🏻 and joe for bringing us the great video’s
Just called 3 dealerships around me to let me know when they get these hybrid sport tourings in! 50 mpg was what got me, but everything else that comes with the touring?? It’s stupid to not even consider it
This thing is a bargain.
I’m considering it on buying one as long as no mark ups are added
It is definitely better than toyota corolla hybrid. But civic hybrid price almost same price with camry. In economic way, Toyota corolla hybrid winner again.
Price is always so important in this class
This almost doesn’t compete at all with the Corolla. The Civic hatchback is 1 cubic foot smaller than the Camry but still cheaper. Honda managed to price it in between the two.
Toyota is purposely keeping Corolla production low so that they don't have to offer any rebates or discounts. This means Corolla supply is low and demand is sky high. This means many Toyota dealers are adding accessories and markup on Corollas, making Corollas pretty expensive
Corolla is very boring and ugly
It takes all kinds! I wouldn't be caught dead in a Corolla.
How did you get your hands on 2 sport touring hybrids. The walk around was the blue lagoon with gray insert interior , the drive was a silver with black interior. Beautiful car.
The wheels look like Roman sword blades. I like it.
I hope you enjoyed the "Orange Cone & Pothole Festival" Montreal puts up every year to welcome tourists.
Them n Toyota always doin something to muck up the styling w this big mouth bass. I still like it. What we want is Honda Toyota motors and trans in Nissans and Hyundai Kias!
If only it was that easy!
Love what Honda is doing here but no rear seat AC vents or chargers = DOA for me. Thank you for saving me $31k+ LOL.
This will be over 35k at dealerships. especially for a hatch. Nonsense
No pricing available yet on the hatch
@@RaitisRidesthe civic will definitely cost more than the Corolla, that’s one thing for sure. The 1.5 litre turbo will be discontinued in the Honda lineup
What do you think a fair price would be?
Corolla sales just increased.
@righteousone1dont feel safe while driving a Corolla
i got my 2022 honda civic sport sedan brand new for 29,500, for what the hybrid is all about, price honestly isn't bad compared to toyota camry, because those for the 2nd trim, you are spending well mid 35,000
The light grey interior is nice.
Great video! Loved the humor lol. I have a 2022 Honda Civic Sport now and I’m considering the hatchback sport touring hybird. The mpg, more torque, and slightly new looks are very appealing
color and wheel combination is sweet
This is a really good midsize car. Ever since the eighth generation Honda Accord moved up to large car status, there has been a big hole in Honda’s line up. This is kicking off where the J30 Accord left off.
Yes of course Joe & I will buy this car soon.
The price of this car in the UK is in dollars $50,000, yes you read that right, you are so lucky in North America with car prices. We have had this hybrid model for 2 years now and it really is as good as the hype, it's much faster than you would think and it's so economical you will think the fuel gauge is not working in the real world (everyday driving) it feels just as fast as a type R but uses half as much fuel.
More like SI, not type R
@@alvinsimba734 It's a lot faster than the si especially 0 to 60mph because it has a lot more torque 232 lb-feet compared to 192 lb-feet. The mid-range acceleration is easily a match for the Type R, 40 to 80mph especially and since it has virtually the same chassis as the Type R it may not be quite as fast or handle as well. but it's a lot closer than you would think, I have read reviews where somebody who had a Type R had driven the hybrid and was surprised by how close they were.
Should i buy this over the si
You should stop by here in ottawa Canada would be nice to meet you love your car reviews
I want to trade in my 2012 Honda EX and get the Hybrid Civic Hatchback. And I prefer the light grey interior, which is on my car.
If you get the Sport Touring Hybrid in Blue Lagoon, may be done other color, the grey seats are an option. Otherwise, it's black, depending on paint color. If you get a Sport Hybrid, you get the same black leatherette seats from the Non Hybrid Sport trim.
I think i will buy one, looking very nice and the mpg wow
Light grey seats are nice. I see you did not burn your legs. It makes the interior look bigger too.
Can you have google maps on the gauge cluster like in the accord?
Can't wait for the hatchback!
Have the recent Honda quality issues fixed yet? I am worried about the long-term reliability of this car.
Love love love the color and wheels!!!
I really like everything except for the 18" wheels. It appears every trim will have 18's except for the LX which will probably get 16's with cheap hubcaps. The sweet spot was the 17's that came on the 22-24 EX and EX-L, but those won't be available.
this should be a no brainer for anyone looking for a hybrid! Especially Prius buyers who cannot get a Prius at MSRP because Toyota will not properly increase production and dealers marking them up due to limited availability. If Honda can produce enough of these, this will be a winner at a lower price!
The price of 2025 Civic Sport Hybrid (not touring) is in par with 2025 Camry Hybrid LE. Which one to choose? Both are that good.
WHOA....HOMERUN Baby! Hybrid will be a HIT
NOW, HOPE NO DEALER JACK UP PRICING!
Welcome to civic Nation Joe!..cheers!.. 😊
Thanks Charlie! It was really great!
They should change anything glossy black from interior to something more matte for better matching with rest of the interior. Same goes for thhat glossy black on that key 😅
Is this quicker than the Si? I had a ‘22 Si. It was a wonderful car.
The Touring is missing two features that the similarly priced Jetta SEL and GLI have:
-Memory driver’s seat
-Ventilated front seats
Since my wife and I are very different heights and we live in the South, this is a deal breaker.
I understand why the lower trim levels don’t have these features, but the top trim level should.
I cant believe this has same hp as the si, they need to step their game up with the si. I bought a 24 si which i love but it would be nice if it was maybe 250 hp
That would be really nice if they did that Paul!
That's the difference with the Si. Other than the front and rear cosmetic upgrades, chassis and suspension refinements and a few other things in the 2025 Si, it's basically the same. It's a different driving experience than this car with the 6 Speed Manual, LSD and performance suspension, with the ability to modify it, where lots of Si owners have. I am not sure, but I think some Si tuners may have gotten 250 horsepower out of their with recalibrations and other aftermarket mods.
Interesting only 3k difference to get into a base Honda hybrid and Touring. Slightly higher starting price compared to base Prius yet only $31,750 for top trim. Whereas top Prius must be over 40k. Perhaps this is not a direct competitor to Prius but Corolla hybrid instead as you mentioned.
