  • I'm testing the battery of my e-UP! after noticing it had quite a bit of range loss during the last video. The consumption of driving at 100 km/h is also tested.
    Here is my tesla referral code, please consider using it if you buy a tesla :)

    Very nice small car (it doesn't feel small though) for city traffic and (short) stretches of highway. The only downside for me is the support of the front seats. Standard camping chairs offer more comfort than these "plates with raised edges". But it drives really good, even in eco-mode.

    It seems like nobody has read the E-Up! manual. The battery has no cooling system so fast charging is not a good option. The manual tells you not to do consecutive fast charging. This applies to any car without battery cooling. Also you shouldn't charge to 100% unless necessary and you are planning to use the car immediately after charging.

    I’m pretty sure the wind is playing a big factor. My 2014 E-Up has done 55k miles and can still get 70-85 miles range.

  • @nordemoniac
    @nordemoniac 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have tested ours after watching this video. I’m pretty sure we get all 16kWh. I don’t know if it is eating the buffer as well, but it seems to be correct.
    Car is 7 years old with 70k km.
    It’s always been charged to 100% daily with the included 10A charger. Doesn’t seem to have done any harm.
    We’re now using a 32A charger (Up can only handle 16A) so it’s faster, but doesn’t seem to hurt.
    We’ll be using the car more often and for longer travels further ahead, so I’ll probably limit charge to 80-90% so it’s averaging 70% charge.

    • @nordemoniac
      @nordemoniac 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ulrichxx5 Nothing. There’s really not much to go wrong, the car is really simple. Rear brakes need to be replaced, and the front already has been. But they’re cheap and easy to replace. These are the only parts that have been replaced on the whole car.

    • @ulrichxx5
      @ulrichxx5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad to hear that. I plan on getting one that has it’s mileage at around 80-90k km, glad to hear that i shouldn’t be that much worried about reliability.

    • @nordemoniac
      @nordemoniac 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ulrichxx5 Definitely. But the newer the better. I would go for at least late 2014, so you have DAB-radio, the Garmin unit etc.
      Ours have just reached 75k. I suspect maybe a couple of suspension parts will need to be replaced within a couple of years, new tires and new rear brakes. Nothing out of the ordinary for an 8 year old car.

    I think that you overcame a bit. Why to drive at 100 km/h for degradation test. You build up much heat at this velocity as well as you did by DC charge the car just before driving it. Not optimal. Then you did a run to one point, you should drive halfway somewhere and back again to minimize the wind parameter.
    I assume you could start with full charge by charging at home. Then you should keep running the car as low as possible. I think you miscalculated the whole thing a bit. Your degradation is not more than 15-18% according to what I see. You should do the same by driving at 70 km/h as this is a city car.

    • @karl7571
      @karl7571 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Merci pour cette vidéo.
    En tant que propriétaire de cette voiture, un petit retour d’expérience après 2500km.
    C’est une voiture merdique, 5 fois en panne !!! Les mécaniciens de VW sont complètement dépassés et désemparés devant ces véhicules électriques qui leur posent énormément de problèmes. Les responsables commerciaux et d’ateliers m’ont avoué que VW avait en projet de réparer ces futures voitures à distance depuis Wolfsburg, comme de vulgaires ordinateurs !!! Bref, les consommateurs vont bientôt être pris en otage, techniquement, mais surtout financièrement !!! J’en fais actuellement l’amère expérience et je tiens à vous conseiller vivement de fuir ces voitures pour l’instant. Je suis pourtant convaincu que c’est bien l’avenir...c’est bien pour cela que j’avais franchi le pas. Pour info : ID3, Zoé,...même bazar.
