You may not realize it but I’m going to say it. You are what we the people need in our government. My wish would be for you to move to Tennessee and run for office, any office but senator or congresswoman would be nice. Once folks see your heart like you’ve shown in these videos it would be easy to vote for you.

This is sad, and crooked, and unjust. But they do this. My town was decimated in the 1950s to widen the river for shipping. My grandad lost his business and home, a tourist home along the shore. His father's home next door was moved along with many others. But the bottom line is, it was done all in the name of money and progress, and be damned anyone in the way. My family dispersed to various places, and I'm the only one who remains in the area. I'm so sorry for your loss. Keep your family healthy and together!!

@@libbybarrett1268that’s the way it used to be but the Supreme Court ruled a committee could take property for a higher tax base. This happened in the early 2,000’s in a case from Connecticut when a town wanted to take coastal property sell/give it to developers so the town would get more tax revenue. The Supreme Court ruled it was constitutional. I also remember the case of a farm that had been in a family for generations and they took for a NASCAR race track. That was in Texas.

@@ggjr61The Connecticut case was Kelo v New London for those interested. Private land was taken in order to be used for a “comprehensive development plan” This case was argued for years, starting with Connecticut Supreme Court, ultimately being decided by SCOTUS, ruling in favor of the developer. The court claimed that the community would benefit from economic growth of the area. Unfortunately after all the time and money spent “winning” their case, the developer could not obtain necessary financing and abandoned the plan. The land remained an undeveloped empty lot, only to be used as a dumping ground for storm debris!

In the video, she says she has not been compensated yet but is still having to pay the mortgage payments on the house that the government just had destroyed. She should have received the monetary compensation to pay off the mortgage plus any amount already paid down on it, plus additional moving costs at the very least. It's worth a tremendous amount of money there in the smokey mountains and the officials know that. They also renovated the property as she has stated. Surface rights, mineral rights, water rights, ect. I have 240 acres out in Native County, it’s beautiful and great for hunting, but there are several tribe members buried there (they have little houses built on top of the graves). My brother tells me they are kicking AMERICAN CITIZENS LIKE YOU N YOUR'S out to house them. I am so very sorry for this going on. Do not give up if at all possible. Prayers to you and your family.

You make it sound like they didn’t offer you anything they never offered you one single penny did they offer you something and you turned it down because if you did, that’s on you, they have to offer you something for your property eminent domain may be horrible to you, but people say They didn’t offer us a penny they didn’t offer us a dime they didn’t offer us anything. Maybe they didn’t offer you what you thought what you why oh you thought you deserved and you turned it down is better than nothing and now you’re in the situation that you don’t have anything because you didn’t take what they offered, maybe that is the situation if it is truly eminent domain, they are required by law to offer you something
