  • We unbox and give initial impressions of the new Klipsch Flexus sound system. The modular system is a result of a new collaboration with sister brand Onkyo.
The Flexus system offers two soundbar models (Flexus Core 100 and Flexus Core 200), a wireless subwoofer (Flexus Sub), and a set of wireless surrounds (Flexus Surr). You can mix and match these components as they communicate wirelessly via a 2.4GHz system called Klipsch Transport technology.

Hey everyone! So, those bits on the back of the sub are sadly NOT feet. I guess just there to wrap the sub cable? Honestly not sure, but I’ve seen the multi-position feet thing many times and was hopeful that’s what that was. Also! Power ratings going in the description shortly. We got them!

I knew they could not be feet because the power cord would not permit the unit to lie flat on the ground.

I was thinking they were there to keep the sub away from the wall, but that was just a guess.

Would love an updated soundbar buyer's guide. I think most of us just want to know what to buy at three price points, low (~$500-$1000), medium (~$1000-$2000), and high ($2500+). Keep up the great work!

Everyone will have different opinions and recommendations based on their experiences. Always keep that in mind, but if it helps, here are my recommendations based on my limited experiences with the following soundbar systems (but FWIW to my credibility, I have an actual home theater in my living room with separates and a wired 7.3.4 RBH Sound speaker-system.)
LOW RANGE, especially lower part of this price range: Vizio products, all day. Get the best you can as budget allows for one of their 5.1.x (x could = 0) systems. To my ear, Vizio always sounds the best vs. Samsung/Polk/etc. at this price range.
higher end of your LOW RANGE: JBL systems go on sale for this price range and while I've never owned one, I have demo'd JBL systems several times and they sound great to my ear, but many reviews have stated how buggy they can be, which is why I've never ended up buying a JBL soundbar system. So perhaps consider Samsung or an older or used Nakamichi in this price range. (I have unfortunately never heard a Nakamichi system, so keep that in mind; Nakamichi systems just tend to have almost universal good reviews, though.)
MEDIUM RANGE: Samsung is highly praised and I think Samsung systems in this price range sound decent to good, but they are always a bit lean/"tinny" to my ear. So perhaps consider the Klipsch system in this video based on Caleb's feedback, or perhaps an older or current mid-tier Nakamichi system in this price range (keeping my note, in parentheses above, in mind.) The biggest advantage of this Klipsch system, in my opinion and assuming I find the sound quality as good as Caleb does, is the ability to add your own subwoofer via an RCA cable to this soundbar. There are so many good subs in all sorts of price ranges that would allow you to customize the low-end frequency response of the Klipsch system, and you could add multiple subs via an RCA splitter, or daisy-chain, or a miniDSP product, for even more subwoofer-related possibilities!
HIGH RANGE: Seems like Sonos options or Nakamichi options should be your go-to. Again, I've never heard Nakamichi, but I want to hear the Dragon some day given all of the high praise. If I am ever in the market for a high-end soundbar system, I am going with Nakamichi. There is also high praise for Sonos and I've demo'd some Sonos soundbar products: while I admit they seem to sound as good or better than soundbars I've heard (which would be in your LOW or low-MEDIUM range,) I can't quite articulate why I think something sounds "off" about Sonos to my ear; every time I hear a Sonos product, I always think it should sound a lot better for their asking price. (It's been a while since I last heard a Sonos product, but one aspect of the Sonos sound quality that comes immediately to mind is the bass being boomy and simultaneously not digging into the lower frequencies like I think they should, again at the price that they are asking.) But your and others' experiences may vary.
Again, all of this is just my opinion, but I hope it might help you or someone else.

As much as I cannot stand Samsung I have to say their HW-Q990D is the best sound bar on the market if you are looking for a high end soundbar and its under 1500.

This system definitely has my curiosity. I’m liking that more companies are doing the modular design. Not everyone wants to $$ for a whole system, or it can grow and change as your needs do. Now if they did the sound bar like the cinema 1200 or Samsung 990 with 9 drivers along the front, i would be sold instantly

Hi Caleb. I just noticed this system on Klipsch's site the other day, so I am happy to see your first impressions. I also look forward to a full review. On the pricing, I got $1047 for the full system, which, since the bar itself is 3.1.2, strikes me in line with some other systems out there. For example, there is a new LG S90TRfor $999, and the Yamaha TrueX 50 system is $1082. Both of these others have wireless subs and non-atmos rears.

I have been curious about this bar since you first mentioned it at CES cause I am a fan of both brands. I am not any sort of audiophile but I do like stuff to sound good and will put money forth if worth it. I recently picked up an Ultimea S80 5.1.2 soundbar for 300 bucks and I have been pleasantly surprised with how much I am enjoying it. I previously have tried some cheaper soundbars and always hated them right away but it's nice that more good options are showing up!

At one point i was thinking about to send a question to you asked about if you could review this. Because a different TH-cam channel showed a sneak peek of this product at CES this year. And after that i got curious. You see some years ago i had a Onkyo receiver that i loved but when i moved to a new apartment i didn't have space for something that big. And when Klipsch Cinema 800 was new i got one + Klipsch Surround speakers. But my Sony TV and Klipsch was not good friends so i had a lot of sound issues and bugs. So after 6 months i sold it. Miss the sound but not the system because of all the bugs.
But maybe this is better. Anyway, look forward for the review 😊
And just for the record, now i use a Bluesound Powernode n330, Dali Oberon 3 in front, Dali Sub C8D, and Blusound Flex 2i as surround. And it work very well, there has been no issues since i start to use it 2 years ago. And i use it not only for TV and movies, but also for listening to music and radio. Very good as allround system.

I skipped this video a few times in my feed before actually watching it. But I'm glad I did, even though I am not in the market for a soundbar (for now.) I like how this is semi-modular, especially regarding the ability to add your own sub! Lots of possibilities with that! But wouldn't it be great if a company (likely Samsung or Klipsch, but especially JBL or Nakamichi, etc.) made a completely modular and wireless system? What I mean is, the ability to add two or four surrounds, or even heights: they could sell pairs of surrounds so you could add one pair at a time - with and without bouncy-house drivers, and one or two or four wireless subs - sold individually or in pairs, and perhaps even the ability to add wireless (perhaps battery-powered?) ceiling-mounted surrounds for the ultimate amount of options/flexibility. I just think that folks who don't want to go with the traditional HT setup, but want the convenience of a soundbar AND get closer to a true HT experience, would want such a system. (Or people like me who have a true HT in a dedicated space or living room, but would LOVE the ability to set up a secondary but badass soundbar system in another room or even a bedroom, to expand as budget or space allows over time.)

Hey, you just made my life harder. I wanted a budget sound system that would provide good music and movie experience. I locked in the "The Fives". I was about to pull the trigger, but with the soundbar being great with music for a lower price, it's head scratching. How would you compare both? Thank you, I loved the unboxing casual format 😅

I'm intrigued by the chance of a full review. I didn't expect much out of the combination of these two brands. I might be wrong.
It's still weird, that Klipsch doesn't seem to have solved the connection problems of its soundbars. Also pricing might be a problem at least in my region. The Cinema wasn't widely available and it's price was double the price in the US. Not even mentioning the complete lack of their flagship.

Been doing Electronics for nearly a decade and a half and your unboxing/setup sums up Klipsch perfectly! Great sound quality and subpar processing pairing and general setup. As a passive speaker company Klipsch is quite possibly the best out there, but when they put electronics in their equipment it's a complete crap shoot of how it's going to be.

    • @goldfishn3545

Oh my, nearly a decade? Wow. Well, once you’ve had an additional 20+ years (to get to the average experience of the audience watching) maybe you’ll then understand how uninformed your comment is about Klipsch being quite possibly the best passive speaker company “out there.” That simply demonstrates how incredibly limited your experience is with other speaker companies. Btw, I like Klipsch, owned their speakers for decades (plural), but once people become more financially secure in their lives, and don’t have to be on a shoe string budget for audio, Klipsch quickly becomes a stepping stone to actual quality. Kinda like your first vehicle being so awesome, a used f100, then 35 years later you’re jumping into your 2024 Suburban and you realize how little you knew with such little experience many years ago.

@goldfishn3545 I was not bragging but simply stating that I have a good amount of experience in this area. Why do you have be so belittling? Someone go get some clay mold so we can fill in that chip on this man's shoulder. It's not a contest of who has the bigger dong here old man. I am well aware that there are people who have been in the industry longer than I.

@@bweber9468 no, what you were doing was citing years of experience to set up that your claim about Klipsch is somehow coming from a position of knowledge. That’s reckless and irresponsible. Why do that? Anybody that knows home audio and has more than a minimum wage budget knows better. I don’t have any so called chip - furthest thing. You simply got offended cause I called out your b*lls**t.

@@goldfishn3545 reckless and irresponsible 😂. You're hilarious! I'm just curious as to what kind of a wreck I would cause. Also Klipsch is a great brand and yes I have heard other brands. We install Kef, Def tech, Sonance, Tru Audio, Polk, Focal, QSC, HK, JBL and several other companies I can't think of at the moment. That's not to mention the demos I have seen and other systems that I have heard. Yes I will throw in a *for the money into that original statement but stand by what I say. Klipsch is the best

Good to know klipsch has done a great job, I own the Samsung Q950 and I was not impressed. The technical issues list was long from connection lost from the surrounds to too much distortion sound coming the surrounds also the biggest flaw on the Samsungs is the subwoofer I think it’s terrible it kept on sounding bad at certain points when low levels were high and the subwoofer wasn’t handling it. Yes I did all the necessary updates with the faulty app which sucks and I even got replacements of the sub and surrounds but still the same. At the end of all kept it cause the warranty expired and I found a way installing my own klipsch sub12 which gives an immerse bass.

Does the Flexus do any virtual surround (not just height) without the rear speakers? Been looking for something for my parents, tried an Ambeo, but had all sorts of problems with HDMI reliability on that thing. And honestly, while the Ambeo sounded clear, I wasn't getting any sense of virtual surround sound.

Hello Caleb, I have a question. Im in the Military and as such I move every few years or so. I’ve put together a fairly mobile home theater setup. However I’m searching for the best soundbar or sound system solution that can provide the best sound in a variety of rooms since Ill be moving so much. I had my eyes on the polk magnifi max ax which can be purchased refurbished for about $400. My question is do you believe it would be better to go with the new klipsch flexus since it’s brand new and supposedly pretty good? Do you have any recommendations for my situation?

19:28 I really wish I wasn't so old school with having to have tower speakers and the whole setup around my living room because sound bars have come such a long way! Soon the need for huge speakers will be closer and closer to a niche market, (it already is getting there) I feel in 10 years sound bars will be the standard of surround sound systems 😢.. great video 📸

Thats not going to happen..yes sound bars have reached audiophile grade performance. No fucking way is a soundbar going to outperform the raw power and clairity of my bi amped jamo classic 10s at 180wRms per lane. Those fuckers alone will rattle my house no subwoofer needed.

At $1100 to $1200 for that system, I get the Klipsch Sevens or Nines instead (I use the Klipsch Fours - R41PMs) that control a Boston Accustics 10" sub for TV and gaming (but not music).

Funny, Klipsch and Onkyo partner up. That's my current setup, Klipsch 5.1 surround and Onkyo receiver. I know it's all the craze but after watching Linus and a few others with all the issues they have with wireless speakers, I'll stick with the never fail wires.

    • @garyausten5939
      @garyausten5939 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

I agree about the wires, anyways. I have a hybrid 7.2.4 (mostly) Klipsch system - the surrounds are Polk - but use a Denon X4700H running into a Tonewinner AD-8300PA through the preamp outputs. I've tripped on the wires from time to time, but I know I can trust them to work all the time. Eventually, I'd like some better surrounds, but I literally have no room for them in my 13x16 bedroom/HT. They envelop my single lounge chair. Having the 2nd sub makes all the difference in the world, IMO. One is an SPL120 and the other is the new RP-1200SW. Both are 12" subs, but the RP digs down to 16.5 Hz. A joy when listening to action movies and various music genres.

Can you share wireless home theater with sound speakers model with 7.2.4 or 9.2.4 with multiple speakers; soundbar; one central channel; 4 sound speaker; two sub woofer etc everything are connected over wifi; similar to Sonos Arc with 300 Era but which is limited to 7.2.2 Channel ; I am looking for budget friendly and also have full home theater effect
