They’ve had to move the charging and connectivity part on the side of the iPad because of the camera and Face ID. So Apple Pencil 2, is no longer compatible with the Air or the new Pros. So, Apple Pencil 2 is obsolete from this point. Sad really, but allows for uses of older iPads to take advantage of discounts

It appears that the charging module is different (to accommodate the center front facing camera) which is why the Apple Pencil 2nd generation is not compatible with the M2 iPad Air or M4 iPad Pro. It’s a hardware difference rather than a forced limitation.

As an M2 iPad Pro user this thing would burn like crazy. A very powerful chip on a super thin body is really not ideal for a “pro” device. My M2 never went to its full potential due to how easy it throttles, the full brightness couldn’t even used for long as thermal throttling would dim your screen. And also, even in an air conditioned room it heats up so much that my case already starts to peel.
They’re most likely using M4 chips not because they want to expand the capability of the iPad but because they have binned M4 chips they have left over from their computers and would rather use them in iPads then to throw them away.

Not only an iPad or a macbook, buy both!
The surface pro stylus doesn’t have nearly as many features as the Apple Pencil come on idiot. There are dozens of third party options for the iPad that work well as Apple pencils for note taking that cost far less than 33 dollars.

@@mingli1241 I have the same iPad, nah the differences is still not that too great to upgrade. Still same form factor. I use my iPad pro 11in for sidecar to macbook and jotting down notes. I need not better performance. One can keep it for a few more years imo

Bass is not the same as volume and decibels are a logarithmic scale, the double of the volume at 80db would be at 90dB.
