- Cape Town is experiencing an influx of Digital Nomads, and this has impacted locals.
The digital nomad economy heavily relies on temporary accommodations such as Airbnb rentals to accommodate these transient workers, exacerbating housing issues in the region.
This leads to gentrification, displacing locals who cannot compete with foreigners in the housing market, ultimately forcing them out of their own cities.
They need to be a LOT stricter on visas. This gentrification is not good for Cape Town or the country as a whole.
What about our railway?? where is that??? that could allow people to live far away from the city, but make it quickly to work in back at an affordable price?
Great!!! It's a good thing , shall there be more Europeans coming and flowing into South Africa and cape town
Cape Town is awesome. It’s an incredible city with wonderful people. Do they not want tourists and visitors? I don’t understand……
Wonderful!!! More Whites to come in here. I want a European South Africa.
why
for the benefit of who
This trend will get worse!! The cost of living in USA & Europe has become untenable due to tech automation & immigration from all corners of the world. These immigrants (Mostly Asians & West Africans) come highly educated & specialized or have lots of money. Locals cannot compete. In the 70's a plumber & home-maker with kids could live the American dream. That's not possible anymore. The housing & rental prices are out of control. So, the average Westerner is looking else where (Bali, Phuket, Costa Rica, Cape Town etc) for better quality of life.
kolabear wher are you from
Local culture? The culture should be English, Dutch, German etc. He is not right
South Africa will be a part of Europe forever. Don't change it.
The yt people there were already colonizers.
No sweetie... you are the new colonizers. You are not liked, nor wanted. Go home.
Just go home. You are ruining our country, go home.
