What an INSANELY beautiful destination for Digital Nomads. Hello from Malaysia. We have also loved and have been to Bali, Thailand, and the Philippines 😍❤👍
Thanks for all the updated good information. Da Nang, Vietnam was a great place but I would recommend Hoi An as well. It’s a short distance from Da Nang and I found a great room for $15 / night in the garden city area closer to the ocean. They also had bicycles that came with the stay. I enjoyed your vlog and all the amazing places. Thanks for making Relevant material.
Been debating Central America vs Bali for months now and I think you sold me. Trying to start a business and Bali is just full of digital nomads, so cya there!
Thanks for a deeply thought-out video. Seeing this as an Indonesian brings a lot of dilemmas. I just came back from Bali last month and even without visiting Canggu the traffic was bad enough around the city areas. A big issue that's going on around Indonesians is that the locals depend on tourism but these past few years I think tourists' respect towards locals (anywhere in the world, not just Bali) has gone down when they're on vacation, acting like if you got money you can do anything. Digital nomads are different, you guys live and breathe where you stay but man, tourists. Especially around beach areas anywhere in third-world countries, unbelievable. Not to say I had any problem with tourists when I was there though (foreign tourists I met were mostly nice and polite). That being said, other than outlier tourist behaviors, Balinese are getting worried about foreign investments stomping on locals and the "hub for digital workers" concept feeds into this and there doesn't seem to be any solution yet to the living cost and property prices going up. Any takes on this?
Kuala Lumpur is crazy. I was living with 450$ a month (250 for rent, 200 for food, transportation and hang out). I was living in 136m² condo with 50m long swimming pool in front of the Sentral Station of KL.
Wow, all beautiful places to stay in Southeast Asia for the digital nomads, and KL is the only city in your top 5 list, others are the beaches paradise.
@@JooseTheNomad You created a wonderful content for this video. Perhaps one of these days, you can come out with the most affordable city to live in for digital nomads in the world, Asia or Southeast Asia, or maybe the most affordable beach or island to live in for digital nomads in the world, Asia or Southeast Asia. 😀
Siem Reap is a charming, smaller and laid back place with tons of tourist infrastructure and guest houses where you can get a nice private accommodation. Cambodians are super kind, humble. It's very inexpensive there. I'm convinced that I could get an annual retirement visa if I asked. I'm thinking about it.

And here, I went to a lot a Digital Nomad Meetup, and till now is the best place If found in Asia, with open minded people but missing some spirituality side here. Thanks for the video.
Canggu was amazing but the excessive traffic, overcrowding and beach pollution is starting to make it less appealing than other parts of Bali like Ubud or Uluwatu

This is a Great list but mostly focussed on Southeast Asia. South America is a wonderful place for affordable options for location independent workers. Although I live in North America, I try to spend my money in countries where it will go further. I look for the same commodities that I have in North America but for a fraction of the price. That not only means cheap but reasonable quality of life, including safety, and health. Water is a big deal for me. I don’t drive and I don’t like having to carry big jugs of drinking water to my accommodation regularly. From my experience delivery services abroad are often unreliable. So I found a great place with healthy drinking water and all the commodities I need for the fraction of the price which is Bogota Colombia. What is great about Bogotá is that you can actually get a residency visa if you invest in buying a property and the cost of properties is again a fraction of what you would pay in my country. Thanks again for this video.😊
Thanks! Yea for sure many cheap options there but does the lifestyle compare? There's no ocean & beach either? Way less safe than here? It's not by accident that I have stayed in this area for so long☺️
@@JooseTheNomadYeah, by accident as it’s the places you can afford. Colombia is to expensive for him. There is not way he will find such a life style in any Latin America countries for the price you pay in SEA! I’ve been to both and obviously not comparable.

Sooo...this is the best concept (by far) I have ever seen on youtube! Showing places including budgets and bottom prices. I really don't like the vids of the US guys as the country is too expensive in terms of rents and eating out. I love that this guy see the prices like 1-2usd and 6-7usd. So it gives me the real idea about pricing in those beautiful places. ❤️
@@JooseTheNomad thanks for highly valuable information. Do you think is there any chance to find even cheaper rents than on Airbnb? I usually start with Airbnb or hostels and then switch to longer term rent from locals. Usually for 1/3-1/2 of the Airbnb price.
@@JooseTheNomad Btw is there still any chance to start own Airbnb businesses or hostels in Bali? Or is the limited Bali space already too saturated and competition tough?
Yes, I agree. Among them, Canggu is still the best, although it may be overrated. Not only does it offer a wide range of food choices, accommodations, communities, and activities that can be tailored to different preferences and budgets, but most importantly, it is currently the largest digital nomad hub, allowing us to have a broader exposure in business. Nice video, can't wait to watch more from you!
Very good information! I'm retired and just spent 4 months in SE Asia. I stayed in Siem Reap, Bangkok, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, Nepal (Pokhara). I'm recharging back in Texas, but I can see another trip in the near future. I'm not working, but I do blog posts for fun. I appreciate the suggestions. I haven't been in Bali in about 12 years. Cheers Doug. Do you agree with these recommendations and do you have some other places you suggest.. Being retired, is a bit different to being a young Digital nomad ha ha. I'm in the same category as you are.
I've been looking for the best places for digital nomads outside of Southeast Asia because I wanted a different vibe but there is literally no place that compares to Southeast Asia, there are so many good places around the world But you will not find luxury like Southeast Asia, and if you find something close to it, its ridiculously expensive. There are some places in Latin America, Turkey... but they are still very far..
I find westerners are always crazy about beaches. What is the big deal about sun, sand and sea? They are hot, sticky, sandy, sweaty and at times make me feel itchy!
Yes, no nature for ne, I love my artificially airconditioned apartment best...as for the sea, i replace it with my warm and comforting, indoor hot tub. :)@@JooseTheNomad
im in nha trang vietnam right now. its my third city in a three month. first two were da nang and da lat, first impression about nha trang is that it’s much cleaner and a bit cheaper than da nang. both in foods and apartments you should definitely visit it if you haven’t been here
Hi, thanks for your great contribution. I have seen in your video you are travelling with a friend. So it this budget only for yourself? Or is it paying both bills? Or does she pay the same amount, too? Its normally a big differen if travelling allone or with a friend. Thank you
@@JooseTheNomad No, thank you! Not sure if have an answer for this question: I’m massage therapist by profession with a newer focus on content creation. In your view of all the places you have spent time in or visited where might you say would be great locations for filming (shooting) content? For example various exercise 🏃♀️, movement therapy, interviews and exercise/training facilities. Thanks so much!!!
First time I agree with someone on destination selection! I must mention that Siargao has extremely unstable internet and power outages are very common. I experienced a similar issue in Palawan so in general, I find the Philippines not very digital nomad-friendly, despite being such a beautiful country! Regarding Kuala Lumpur, I've been there and I was pleasantly surprised as well. My only disagreement is with Canggu, but I'm a Bali hater so don't judge me haha
Awesome🙏🏽 When's the last time you were in Siargao? I heard most places have Starlink now so Internet situation should be much better! And yeah Canggu is not for everyone but have you tried staying in Pererenan area? :)
Hi Joose, would be great to meet one day, I like how you are showing in a good light these places, I hope soon I will test it myself, as many people now, even in person, have clearly told me how positive southern Asia is. Have a great day, thanks for the content.
You mentioned it’s difficult to find digital nomads in Da Nang. We’re currently touring Vietnam, and looking to find other like minded people. Curious to know if there’s any hidden gem spots in Da Nang, you found, that we could meet other nomads? Or if there’s any specific cities in Vietnam, that you found a good nomad community?
Wow! So inspirational! I build websites and was laid off recently. I want to do this but a little bit of fear of how this will all work and how can I connect with people as I would be doing this likely solo for a few months.
Canggu, Bali is definitely more livable. It has so much to offer. Unfortunately, it's getting more expensive and busier. So if people who want to come are okay with that, then it's definitely the best option for a longer stay.
Yes exactly! And the food is still very affordable in Bali, same with renting a scooter. Accommodation just comes down to knowing how to find a good deal😊
I WAS in KL last Xmas and was pleasantly surprised what a great city it is sadly I was only there a few days but will be back at some stage in my travels

@JooseTheNomad yes because think of it this way. I know youtubers care about watch time for metric. But trust me timestamps are very good. Don't take my opinion though check with chatgpt
Great video. However I was checking the prices in Ko Phan Ngan, and they are crazy expensive. I checked both Air BnB and booking. This was for the month of February 2024. Like triple plus the cost of what you have in this video.

hi. great vids, J. Love them . Just wondering; retired couple going to SE Asia for 4 to 5 months in 2025 ... we are coming from Canada and were going to start in Bali and work our way west and then north through Singapore, KL, up into Thailand and then onto VietNam. Then we read a few reviews about the rainy season in Bali and are afraid we might have bad luck and be rained out for the 2 weeks we were going to stay there. Any opinions on how rainy it usually is in Bali for the first half of January? we don't mind a couple of hours per day but the week long rains that the reviewers I mentioned experienced has us thinking of flying into Bangkok instead . Thx for your reply.
Good picks. Reckon a little bit on the low side budget wise though for KL. Da nang is super cheap though. Da nang food western: La Casa (great lamb), Motor city - Detroit Pizza (best pizza by a mile).
Hmmm you mean less foreigners or less people? All I guess in a sense are "touristy" but Siargao is the most integrated with the locals and have nice yoga places! Koh Phangan has that vibe a lot too!

Yeah I feel the same! Only Cape Town & Playa Del Carmen seem to be comparable but still not the same as here haha..
The place where you are is tribal canggu I was here a beautiful coworking space and hostel
Yes it's a nice place😊
I thought you were Suomalainen ❤❤ I recognized the accent. Aiti tule Kuhmosta. Kiitos!
Hahaha joo kyllä🙏🏽
I find westerners are always crazy about beaches. What is the big deal about sun, sand and sea? They are hot, sticky, sandy, sweaty and at times make me feel itchy!
😂 well I guess not everyone likes nature :)
Yes, no nature for ne, I love my artificially airconditioned apartment best...as for the sea, i replace it with my warm and comforting, indoor hot tub. :)@@JooseTheNomad
I like action not boring, I always get island fever.
Great summary. Haven't been to Siargao but not surprised about the internet issue.
Thanks! Yeah luckily it's getting much better recently!
im in nha trang vietnam right now. its my third city in a three month. first two were da nang and da lat, first impression about nha trang is that it’s much cleaner and a bit cheaper than da nang. both in foods and apartments
you should definitely visit it if you haven’t been here
I have been there and definitely prefer Da Nang :)
@@JooseTheNomad i’ll give it one more chance later. maybe i got bad experience because of living near son tra mountain and bad apartment
@@oleeeeeg yeah I really don't like that area, My An is so good :)

thank you for sharing this video!

What camera are you using? The video is so clear and crisp, colors are so vivid. Is that due to the camera you used or bec of enhancement / edit?
Thanks! I used Iphone 14 pro before and now 15 pro :) I just add a bit saturation on edit!
Exactly what I was wondering.
@@jonklause5130 Also filming in 4K 60fps wide angle looks always good!
Hi, thanks for your great contribution. I have seen in your video you are travelling with a friend. So it this budget only for yourself? Or is it paying both bills? Or does she pay the same amount, too? Its normally a big differen if travelling allone or with a friend. Thank you
These budgets are doable as a couple yes😊 I mean the main extra cost is food compared to being alone.
WONDERFUL VIDEO!!
...are those USD prices you are quoting?
@@garfieldmtify thanks so much! Yes USD
@@garfieldmtify It depends what kind of places you want exactly. Canggu has the most facilities :)
Great video. Nice to see so many LCA peeps in it ;)
Thanks! Hahahah nice🙏🏽
I met other digital nomads on the beach and cafes on the Mỹ An area😊
For example there was often people working on their laptops here: maps.app.goo.gl/tfooSebo3vKrs2Wj8?g_st=ic
I loved Dan nang and Nha Trang
Me too😍
Very informative detailed yet brief and just the basic food shelter active and cost list

Wow! So inspirational! I build websites and was laid off recently. I want to do this but a little bit of fear of how this will all work and how can I connect with people as I would be doing this likely solo for a few months.
Thank you! It's so easy to make friends in many of these places! In Koh Phangan and Siargao the most but also in Canggu and Da Nang :)
This was a great video. To the point, informative, and great content!!!!
Thanks so much!
This was a great video, I wish I had seen it before. Thanks

Two of us just returned a couple weeks back. We stayed in Nusa Dua and took excursions everyday. The traffic to Ubud was almost beyond belief; crazy.@@JooseTheNomad

Great review! What do you recommend for 1 month fun vacation in Jan-March season to meet a lot of people? Is Bali fun or just wet? Philippines better? Thanks!

Happy easter, would love if you consider adding Timestamps!❤ best wishes brother
Not for this video but future ones
Happy Easter! I'm not sure if it's good for my videos. Would it be helpful?
@JooseTheNomad yes because think of it this way. People don't watch ur type of content once they add it to favorites and rewatch it multiple times a year etc. So when you put timestamps you let them remeber what they liked or needed in the video months later. I know youtubers care about watch time for metric. But trust me timestamps are very good. Don't take my opinion though check with chatgpt
@@VirtousStoic Okay yeah that's true! I'll look into it, thanks🙏🏽
great video 👏 How many claims have you put thru Safety Wing and how did they go? Covers motorcycle accidents without helmet?
Fewer digital nomads is an advantage in my book.
Why?
Great video. However I was checking the prices in Ko Phan Ngan, and they are crazy expensive. I checked both Air BnB and booking. This was for the month of February 2024. Like triple plus the cost of what you have in this video.
Thank you! Maybe because you're checking very last minute? It's high season but there was still many options $600-1000/month when I was looking back in July. Anyway, did you check facebook?
I’ve not joined the groups in your video. I’ll do that and see. Phuket had much more reasonable prices. I will end up there I say. Thanks
@@francolaudadio193 in Patong? I like to stay in Rawai area in Ohuket and the prices seemed to be even higher than in Koh Phangan😳

hi. great vids, J.
Thanks! It's about luck, could be really sunny or really rainy, or somewhere between😄 Ubud is also more rainy than coastal areas for example!
Love Bali, indonesia🇮🇩
Yees❤️
Da Nang is the place bro. 👍🏽
Yees!🙏🏽
Love this video, man! Gave me great ideas!

Hey, great video:) I was wondering what is the name of the AirBnB in Bali at 9:57 and 9:26 ?😊
Good picks. Reckon a little bit on the low side budget wise though for KL. Da nang is super cheap though.
Da nang food western: La Casa (great lamb), Motor city - Detroit Pizza (best pizza by a mile).

Thank you! I'd go to Bali or Siargao😊🙏🏽
Put trail for these types of videos in description it's good for ranking too
Fantastic video! Which of these places would you say is the least touristy and also which has more Yoga/Meditation-type vibes?
Hmmm you mean less foreigners or less people? All I guess in a sense are "touristy" but Siargao is the most integrated with the locals and have nice yoga places! Koh Phangan has that vibe a lot too!
@@JooseTheNomad Thanks for the reply and info! Yes I meant British tourists specifically 😂 Also would like to be somewhere with good surfing lessons and other water sports like jet skiing but looks like Siargao and Da Nang would be best for that?
@@Spiritandvitalityplus50 hahahah yeah not too many in these places😄 Siargao definitely best for surfing! There's also wake park and jet skis!
@@JooseTheNomadNice man! I hope to live this life within a couple of years and my company also allows 1 month a year working from anywhere which is cool.
Out of curiosity, have you ever come across any venomous snakes, spiders or other animals that can seriously harm you as you travel SE Asia? I hear a lot about poisonous things out there but maybe it’s not so bad?!
@@Spiritandvitalityplus50 nice, hope you can do it soon! No you rarely come across those things here, it's not like Australia haha. I only once saw maybe a cobra in Ubud in a jungle resort😄
