Hi there! Unfortunately I am not in Cape Town anymore… I got a job opportunity elsewhere and had to move in Sept. Honestly I had fallen in love with the city so much! I agree. I relocated in February. Unless my company covers the costs, I sell everything and start again. I bought a few big boxes and used Pudo for things like blankets, pillows, speakers, kitchen stuff. The fridge is one of those things which is worth moving with. Some newer have elevators but those are in the city center most likely. There's plenty of private health care. Inquire into options from Discovery med and other medical aids in South Africa. All the best.
Hey Katharine. I hope you are doing well. @prospereveryday2255 Hi there😅 these are such great questions. Please visit this website www.ibn.co.za/south-africa-immigration-and-visas-ls/ and someone will be able to answer all your questions 😊
Not particularly. Cape Town needs you to navigate things via alternatives, I.e. when looking for a place, don't go to property24. Rather, use sites where landlords (not agents) advertise. You'll pay less rent and less competition where there are 300 people viewing a single flat. Furthermore, instead of buying brand new furniture (usually with credit), buy 2nd furniture. Lots of brand new 2nd things that you'll get cheap (international people relocating back to their home countries, etc.). Another thing is that the Northern Suburbs are way more affordable than the Southern Suburbs, i.e., R8 500 for a two bed in the North is a matchbox studio in the South. There are obviously trade-offs for both areas like hectic traffic when you stay up north. Bonus: Avoid places like Parklands, Blouberg, Table View (Midrand lifestyle). Well... I guess this is a matter of preferences.
@AxNdala You are spot on! I stayed in the Northern surburbs (Burgundy Estate) and I was very happy with the location. Luckily I worked in Epping so there was no traffic but if you gona live there and work In town then you will definitely experience some traffic
