- Hey comic lovers, here is a very rare video from me: a CGC unboxing video! And not just any unboxing, these are two very high value comics that I found in strange and unusual places, and one of them is so rare it might just be ONE-OF-A-KIND!
On top of that, this video also depicts the submission to CGC along with pictures depicting before and after the comics were cleaned and pressed. Check out the video to see what the defects were, how much they were improved, and then the final grading result!

I totally agree on the slabbing. Many people call comics rare when they are not. That Archie book is definitely RARE! A great score that I would hold on to.
That Archie is crazy!
I remember you found the Archie book at an estate sale for $5 and was having a hard time identifying it to estimate its value. I’m really glad you were able to identify it. Not sure if you have some sentimental value for the book but perhaps it may help to fund the grail you are aiming for.
Amazing find. I’m glad your neighbor sold books at a good price since you are an honest man.
I'd wait for the market to come back up and that archie would be headed to heritage. Cha ching
That Hulk 181 is gonna look great on the wall just over your right shoulder…
Archie Shoe-Store Giveaways are under Promotional Comics in the Overstreet. Very cool book.
The Hulk is really cool, but that Archie is amazing.
Thanks Cary! And for real you win the 10K giveaway! I’ve been trying to reach you for weeks, PLEASE email me as soon as you can!
I emailed you, this is so very cool , thanks!!!@@lunchmoneycomics

I've never been into Archie, but I like that cover.
That Archie is really cool!
Watching you remove the slabs and not seeing the grade, reminded me of that ketchup commercial which talked about ‘anticipation.’😂😂😂😂
The Archie is an amazing book, and what a piece of history you have in your collection.
That is a sweet Wolverine book. Love the claws too 😂😅
Great turnout. If you sell Archie I hope you get a LOT. 😊
AGAIN,CONGRATULATIONS 🎊
Great results. I look at slabs as trophies
Zero interest in slabs and next to zero interest in grades - but I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the analysis of the books' physical attributes before-and-after Jeff performed magical things. Cool.
Thank you, and that’s really the only reason I do these videos, I could care less about unboxings unless they can convey some useful information. Happy you enjoyed it!
To clarify my stance on grades: I buy the best copies I can (reasonably?) afford, and I take very good care of my books - it's just that while the difference between 8.5 and 9.2 might mean the world to others (and there's nothing wrong with that), those distinctions are meaningless to me. Just so we're all having fun - that's where it's at.@@lunchmoneycomics
A couple of prized possessions there! Super professional showing those before and after photos! 😚🤌🏻
That Archie is a gem! The Red really pops! 1949?? You need to save that one! Don’t be tempted by offers! lol!
Two awesome books. Ryan at automatic comics might be able to help with that Archie.
He already has! I’ve been talking to him about it behind the scenes for months and he’s given me some great advice.
Very cool 😎 video thanks
Considering there are 10,000 Hulk 181s on the census, the Archie for a win by a mile!
I agree!
Great work on that Archie!!
This was such a high quality video. So many unboxing videos are just the unboxing with no lead up. I loved how you waited to put them together into one production. You should do more because you make them so well.
Thank you so much! I don’t like watching unboxing videos for the exact reasons you just gave, and I wouldn’t do my own unless there was some good information to share about the process. So thank you for acknowledging that!
EXCELLENT BROTHER KEEP THIS UP! I LOVE RAW ALSO YET CERTAIN BOOKS YES!!!
I can see that one October 1948 issue of that Archie your official store club magazine, graded 8.0, sold for $2.3k in 2020.
Congrats!
The more i think of it, the more I'm feeling you should've held on to the Archie... It's so unique and exceptionally rare. I can see this going for brain-breaking money eventually. It's a legitimate OOAK collectible.
@@willthebeast8002 you may be right, I think about that every once in a while
@@lunchmoneycomics Listen, 95% of folks would've done the same, X-Men #1 is a "White Whale" of a Grail.
Just thinking out loud, and doing a little Monday Morning Quarterbacking, as they say.
But the story, in and of itself, is amazing!! That Archie will ALWAYS be "The Lunch Money Book", t'll always be linked to you, and that's awesome too! Thanks as always LMC! 🙏🏿
Very nice. Congrats
i am loving those slabs. nice job, Mike. great Wolverine cosplay from the livestream. #OnlySlabs #SLABEFEVER
Re: Slabs (and slabbing) Amen, Brother!!!
congratulations Mike that's awesome 👍 I got a ASM 121 grand at a 6.0
great video...lots of love
The 9.2 Archie is Awesome!
I like slabbed books but I am picky at what I slab if it’s a fairly rare book sure I’ll slab it. If not so rare I would leave it raw. Nice grades those red colors pop so well!! Congrats!!
You found a treasure! As of now that Archie book is a museum piece! Do not sell it. Whatever offers u might b getting now might b double or triple next year. Might b a fortune by the time u retire. Being so rare makes it special n unique. Congrats.
Yeah, definitely hold on to it for a while. Wait until the market turns around and Heritage does top tier archie show.
Really cool video
Awesome!! You should do a Lunch Money Comics Read > Where you take a classic book and go page by page and read and give thoughts. Would definitely get us older collectors a retro back in the day vibe.😃
Holy moly! Congrats, man!
I also own a hulk 181 in a 4.5. Presents great! Nice grade on that Archie. Nice to be the sole owner of something that old in that grade. Congrats.
Great Colored Book
Just at a vague guess I would think the Archie would equate to an approx grade 6.0 Xmen Number 1
Love the Archie book. Don’t be in a rush to sell it, keep it and enjoy it for now. I’d look at auctioning it at some point in the future when the market is more buoyant. Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised. A great find
I only bought a slabbed comic once, it was an X-MEN 94 and of course I opened and read the damn thing! I have a video on my channel about this.
Wow, that Archie is amazing! Congrats!
Good argument on the the slabs I personally can't stand them but yeah if it's a super valuable book I guess I could see why you'd do that 😖
So glad you got these graded bud they look good in a slab. Been wanting to tell ya I was in town yester visiting a shop in Lynn UK went to the shop with comics bud... i found rare UK avengers 6p ones I brought the whole lot they are black and white alittle beat up but when I see then I knew I had to have them. All from 1973 if I could I'd send you a pic but then I found batman and robin the boy wonder #1 by Frank miller and Jim Lee I feel like I did gd
UK rare comics I need to get these slabbed but feel gd. But yh you keep inspiring me to keep collecting and I do thank you i love hunting for comics and hope one day I could hunt with you bud.
(.2 on a book from 1949 is crazy
Another great video!
Thanks!
Congratulations on your CGC submissions.
All of my personal comicbook collections are raw and not yet graded, but however i do have 17 comics in my personal collection that are signed by different artists and one by a former editor in chief who previously worked for Marvel comics decades ago which i'd like to get graded by CBCS for signature verifications which to me seems worthy it, because of the experience of meeting and interacting with the creators in person that's something to have to remember and maybe perhaps too to have as an investment.
But if i do continue to leave my comics raw as is and not have them graded, then the only two comics i would grade would be a golden age Sub-mariner if i had one in my personal collection which i don't, and of course my Giant Size Fantastic Four #4 1975 (first appearance of Multiple Man) my favorite Marvel character, which i do have in my personal collection, which i think they're worth grading, needless to say the comic is a bit beat but still has the Marvel value stamp and untouched as the book itself is complete and readable. raw grade range stand point could probably be a 2.0 to maybe a 2.5 or a slight chance of a 3.0, give or take for raw comic for it's condition.
And just as you said if it's a golden age comic why not grade them to preserve them, which i too agree.
Nice review and congratulations!
Good afternoon Michael
A great video, well put together, a great telling of a story, Very pleased to to you got these comics slabbed. The both mean a lot to you. Who knows what the true price of Archie is?But I can see it funding a lot of future LMC videos, It will be a very big grail for someone.
If nothing else it will keep you in Lunch Money for some time. You will know when it is the right time to sell it, and who to sell it to.
Cheers Al The Goldkeyfourcolorkidownunda
Hey Mike, I agree with what you said about getting a comic slab. It's more of an art piece until you take it out of the frame. There is one comic book I would want to frame because of my sentimental value towards it and that's Batman #423. I would have pressed first and cleaned a little. I got two comics this week and That's X-men 125 and 133. I just need X-men 129 and 130 and I've finished the Dark Phoenix Saga. I enjoy your videos and Keep up the great hunt.
Fantastic work, the books look great congratulations 🎉
Awesome video. I would love to know the baseline worth of that Archie book.
Congrats
I used to hate slabs, but now I love them. I feel that after I've read a story a dozen or so times at some point it becomes about preservation. I'm also a big cover art fan, and I love to display my books so that I can enjoy the just looking at the covers. Congrats on these two books. I think it would be great if you kept us updated on the Archie book, it's value, and if you sell it.
Thanks for sharing.
I recall the estate sale video, and covering picking up the Archie. This is a great way to continue that story. Congratulations on the grade!
Really awesome books. Congrats on the Archie. What a cool find!
That was a nice journey! I saw your vids when you got them, and now the outcome👍🙂
Happy for you, Mike!🤝
All the bests from Geemany🙋♂️
Congrats, awesome grades! And gives me hope of getting my hulk 181 grail one day
How do you even put a price on something that is currently 1 of 1!?
Sounds like an X-Men #1 approaching in the distance…
epic!
I think the way you did the presentation was spot on. Congrats on getting what you expected, Mike. Can't wait to find out what else you decided to submit.
Amazing results! Such a high grade for the Archie book, I hope a collector who will really love it is able to take it off your hands for a nice price. Great video!
I've watched a TON of CGC reveals on other channels, but yours was much more enjoyable. Since this was one of your first submissions I was really rooting for you in having a good result. Like me, you don't have thousands of dollars for 9.8 grails, so it's nice to see the "regular guy" do well. Plus, you are in Massachusetts too!
Yes was waiting for another video awesome. I'm absolutely addicted now its ridiculous nothing else satisfies that need to get more comics 😂😂
Haha sounds like maybe LMC is bad for you!
Great video once again! I watched the previous videos and enjoy seeing the whole process that it took to get these two books where they are. As for slabbed books. I think it’s quite appropriate for some older valuable books and I totally agree with your reasoning. I have some more expensive slabbed books and I just get the facsimile version or low grade copy to read so that I can keep the book preserved.
I especially enjoyed the first part of this show great explanations, and photography. You are a comic book rock star now.
Haha not sure about rock star Stevie but I’m happy you enjoyed it!
What isn't to like about your video? Everything about it was awesome! Great way to give your viewers the back stories, (which I remember when you got them both and how). Both are great grades. However, I'm most impressed with the Archie comic!! Great grade, but, holey crap!!!! White pages for a comic from the 40's is beyond comprehension!! That's such an awesome find, grade and white pages!! I only collect the "good girl" Archie covers, however, I really can't imagine there's a whole lot of those promotional comics out that. Also, if you're looking to sell, it truly might be worth and rare enough to have Heritage Auction sell it. Of course, you're dealing with more expenses, however, it might be worth it. Congrates on everything!! You deserve all that and more!
I started slapping some books about three years ago. I really enjoy them. The only thing I don’t like is there’s no tutorial video on Cgc’s website or TH-cam, which gives any clue about how they go about their grading system.
So you have been able to identify that Archie, awesome!
That Archie is unbelievable! 👏👏👏
Dang! Both books look great!! I'd be super interested to see what the Archie value is at that grade. Great video as always, Mike!
The books look great. The presentation in the Archie book with the spacers is really cool on a book
Beautiful looking 4.5. I was going to guess after press and cleaning it might get closer to a 5.5. 4.5 currently selling for about $3K. Great find!!!
So happy you got your grail out of the $5 Archie book.. as well as seeing that hulk 181 is tempting me more to get my own copy.. awesome video mike!!
You’ll get your copy, I have no doubt!
@@lunchmoneycomics soon enough 🤞
Congratulations man! Great books, and awesome to see they got the grades you hoped for. keep up the great content
Great video, Mike! I especially liked you showing photo of before/after and Jeff's comments before cleaning. So glad you got top grades on both!
This was amazing! I actually share your same viewpoint on the reasoning to slab books or keep them raw. I actually don't have any slabs and my entire collection is raw, so I completely Identify with you. But one day, hopefully I'll come across some bigger keys that would warrant me submitting something of my own. And, yes, it would totally be for the exact same reasons as you! Something to pass on to my children.
So happy for you bud. It’s so exciting yet nerve racking when you open your returned CGC box. Great books to add to your collection, thanks for sharing. 😎
Different type of video, but I still loved it either way, Mike. Brilliant grades and what a rare find and grade on the archie. I hope they have them in the UK. If so, I'm on the lookout. Quality video once again.
Great deal on both. Would be proud to have either in my collection though both are out of my wheel house. (Avengers guy). The Archie is the stuff dreams are made of. That is your path to a five dollar X-Men #1. You trade it to one of your connections for a fine copy of X-men Vol. 1 #1. Would make your day.
Yes, Archie = X-men 1 is what I’ve been thinking all along!
Wow!!! Congratulations on your slabs and the grade. I completely agree with you on the reasons to slab a comic. I don’t have any of my PC graded at this time but I’m thinking about getting a couple of the more older and meaningful ones graded. I definitely think the cleaning and pressing helped out with the grade. Loved the way you did this video!!! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. 😎
Love watching you hunt for finds!! Inspired me to get out there. Hulk 181 is a win regarldess and that Archie's a classic. The grades were good, thought the Hulk could be way higher but still holds the value!
Awesome way to do this video! Amazing books!
Really happy for you with the Hulk #181
It’s my holy grail and really hope 1 day I get to own it
Two fantastic comic books and the Archie promo is special, congrats on both, but a 9.2 is killer for a comic of that age!!
Very cool books and neat Grades. I is that a Harry Potter shirt?
It was indeed!
eenjoyed. really beautiful .
Two books definitely worth slabbing! I don't like getting books graded either. It can be so expensive and I never have any books that are in high enough grade and/or value to be worth it. And I don't like never having the option of reading them ever again. But these 2 are definitely special! I'm actually more impressed with the Archie. Congrats!
So awesome Mike! Congrats on those nice grades! For rare or valuable books it’s a no brainer to have them slabbed in my opinion, but I don’t own any at the moment. 😅 That’ll change though! Love the case they put Archie in, looks beautiful.
Nice books mike. That archie is a gem makes me want to submit my superman-tim fanzine book in now
Congrats! Great books!
Same here Mike! Congrads very cool, I remember watching both the videos. When your neighbor had his big collection in his basement. Ya sometimes those obscure comics are worth more then some mainstream books. Because they simply were trashed by kids or sweet mom threw them out in the trash. It's like old toy boxes some times are worth more then the actual toy themselves. Happy you got some great grades for your books too. I used to get incredibly lucky too some times. When I'd buy a LOT of certain titles. I'd get warehouse copies, never even opened or read. I'm sure it's super rare now. But every once in awhile you hit the jackpot. I believe in Karma good and bad. Love your CGC Nov 9.6 too.
That is super cool on your grades that Archie is a Jewel I love to find books like that where it makes people take a second look and go where the heck did you get that
Would like to know how much you get for the Archie.
That was cool Mike glad you got the grades you hoped for,I've never slabbed a book or even bought a slab but I agree 100% that books of that calibre should be protected
Slabbing is great for old books. Personally, I think there is a great way to either buy your favorite book or invest in comics because you can always buy display cases for books you want to put on your wall. As for that Archie comic, I would love to see the price of it. :0
I don’t collect Archie books either but that book is a beaut! Congratulations on the 9.2! Let us know what you find out about it’s worth. Have no idea either!
Congrats on the grades. I'd love to be a 9.2 when I reach the age of that Archie book!
Trade that Archie for some silver age marvel deliciousness
