I had a long diatribe about how none of these comics were rare and the market prices (and cover prices) were over inflated but got tired and deleted it. People can do what they want. I dig the channel and Mike is a good dude. I’m just another dude sitting on the floor going through dollar bins getting super excited when I stumble across a Dave Stevens
Mike Collect what you love, Yes I love the idea behind Lunch Money Comics. But I also love seeing you pick up these bigger books from time to time. Congrats and happy your son was happy that you got it as well.
I generally feel the same way regarding modern comics, BUT, there are some that affected me recently and I felt were going to stand the test of time so I may have dipped my toes in the modern realm as well…Fantastic as always my friend
Don't have buyers remorse Mike! Collect how you want to collect and read what's cool to you. Collecting, no matter what it is that is being saved, is totally a personal thing. what's the saying, 1 person's trash is another treasure. Man I miss this, getting the kind of reaction from your son from that book as you did is what is priceless and there is no putting a price on that. So awesome to expand the collection a bit too going a bit modern. Loved seeing all those slabs. very cool video Mike!!!👍
What an interesting take on using vs collecting, I’ve never looked at something that way but it’s a very intelligent thought. Then there’s a third category… hoarding haha
We used to do a podcast years ago, Maybe 2016 or 2017 here on youtube. We would say, if you want to know what modern comics to buy and hold look at what the kids are dressing up like for Halloween. It’s always Miles. Someday when those kids have money they are going to want his first appearance. Great collections there and nice pickups.
I agree with Miles being the most impactful new Marvel character in awhile. I am 46yrs old and a Spider -Man fan / collector. I really enjoyed Miles when he came out but also had a big connection with the character as I am Puerto Rican as well.
I was so happy that you bought the UF4. It's such a great book, and while some might disagree, I agree with others who have said that this will be the Hulk 181 for this generation. And you don't need much more proof then Li'l Lunch Money's reaction to it. Honestly, I can't think of a much better time than sitting with friends and going through collections over a few brews. Cheers, Mike!
Mike - I completely understand your affinity for comics from your youth vs. new stuff. I, for one, while having grown up in the Silver age am more partial to comics from the Golden Age. Sure, I wish I still had the comics I bought as a kid in the 60's (I'd be a rich man right now), but I am more intrigued by the comics that (1) came before I was born and (2) those that started this whole industry. Just wish I could afford to buy more of them. I have started collecting some of the reprints that have started coming out in recent years just because that's the only way I could ever own them; i.e. All Star Comics #1, Batman #1, Detective #27, Superman #1, etc.
If I had been in your position I would have done the same thing myself. You found a great deal for a book and character that you love, enjoy yourself!! I love your channel and the fun you have in collecting. I've been collecting comics off and on for about 40 years. The bug bit me again in 2004 and have been collecting ever since. While other older collectors seen to not hold current comics in the same regard as the older books, I love reading the new books! I've stayed faithful to the characters that I have always enjoyed reading as a young kid. I collect both Marvel and DC: Marvel-Captain America, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Doctor Strange and Thor. DC-Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern and recently Green Arrow. I've had a lot of fun collecting facsimiles of classic key books, also True Believer reprints too. I can't afford the originals and buying and reading the facsimiles has given me a different appreciation for how much comics have changed for the better. No slabs so far, still not sure about making that step yet.😂
Aww, that's such a sweet story about your son lighting up when he saw the Ultimate Fallout comic! That's one I'm hoping to also get this year, its a great book. Great video, cant wait for the next one!!
I like older and modern comics. The older ones for the nostalgia from when I was young. The newer ones is to see what has happened to comic book characters that I followed when I was young. It is interesting to see how creators have developed them in modern times.
Great thoughts on the Miles Morales book! It really is a keystone for the next generation of comic collectors. I can only imagine that they might get the same feeling seeing that one as I did when you were flipping through those old Cockrum/Byrne X-Men. Those never fail to make my heart skip a little beat and put a smile on my face.
Personally I don’t watch your channel for the content in terms of you buying “lunch box money comics” I watch for you. For the excitement you get when you find books that interest you. I do feel sometimes that there’s a stigma of what people’s collections contain. That if you don’t have big time books it’s not a good collection. Sure if your goal is to make money in the future off it, but for me it’s just having fun and collecting books that I enjoy, or that get the inner kid in me jumping. That’s what drew me to your channel. So keep it up and collect what makes you happy. Tbh I’d watch you talk about the other things you collect as well. It’s your enthusiasm that I believe most of us tune in for.
Josh and Larry count as strange and unusual 😂 I like your definition of reading vs collecting. I treat my books and dvd/Blu-ray collections in the same way. What other characters will be in the psyche of kids today? Harley certainly. Congrats on the UF 4. That’s one of my grails.
Sometimes, you just gotta splurge for the super-sized lunch. 325 is still a steal for that Ultimate Fallout 4 in a 9.0. Well worth it just for the reaction of your son. Nice pick-ups.
Love seeing that you grabbed the Airboy 5 (Dave Steven) right on top, can't pass up on that book!! Would have love to have seen what TMNT they had, saw a few as your were looking. Also great deal for all the books, no buyers remorse sir
Nice pickups. Love that Spectre cover. Agree about Miles Morales - he is going to have a lasting impact. Those movies are huge! Kids who grew up with the movies may one day want to dig into the comics (if they aren't already). I collect older stuff, not because I grew up with it, but because the tv shows/movies I did grow up with were influenced by those characters which has made me want to look into their history in comics.
sadly the comic market is in for a world of hurt ih 20 years, as all these kids that grow up with iPad’s and phones in their hands instead of comic books grow older, and people in their 49s and 50s start selling off their collections. i have 9 nieces and nephews ages 5-17 and i don’t think any of them have even heard of a comic book.
When you get to be the first picker that will get your adrenaline going. Allot of slabs. But I too picked up the Poison Ivy series. It was a good run and you couldn’t beat the covers…egads! Good pickings!
Love those Poison Ivy covers! Haven’t read them but hope they are a fun read. As far as I am concerned you get to collect whatever you like and talk about it on your show. It may not be lunch money but it is your money!💰 🎉❤😂
Congrats!!! You like what you like. Fly your individuality flag and enjoy whatever you feel like fits in your wheelhouse! 👊🏻 UFO4 will be a legacy book for sure!
Hey, not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but that UF4 gets dinged from the poly bag crease on the back. I had a 9.0 originally aswell and then got it pressed and regraded and it came back a 9.8
You did a boss comic book dad move with the Ultimate Fallout 4 💪. Ignore the haters, they're just passing through on their way to the next thing to get angry at.
That ultimate fallout for was originally done in a polybag. It was probably never pressed on the back side. And you can see the polybag mart. Usually, when you see a polybag mark. It's an 852 at 9.0 I would send that back in, have it pressed, and you'll probably get a 96 or a 98.
oh boy, now you're falling into that comic collector's blackhole of getting foil facsimiles!!! Turn back!! 😊Just kidding! Collect what you enjoy. The Ultimate Fallout 4 is a super big splash grab. I feel like you are about where I am, ... I've picked up near all of the comics I had as a kid, grails that connect to my youth, and runs of titles I collected in my youth and now I'm more focused on certain high priced comics. Just picked up Star Wars #1, New Mutants 98, Batman 423, and Giant Size X-men 1 over the last few months and feel like I'll take my time on the rest of the big books (X-men 94, Amazing Spiderman 300, Batman 227 ...) Always love your content!
Nice pick up, I just recently bought a 5 short box collection, ASM 238 complete, 1st boba Fett 1st Elektra 1st black cat 1 Jason Todd 1st black suit plus some mid keys
Hey Mike, huge fan from Germany. Word of advice: Maybe censor the outside of homes etc., just to be safe, u never know what people creep around on the internet.
A great articulation of the two different perspective of comics. I'm the same way. If doesn't have the newsprint pages I don't want to collect it with exceptions of course.
Congrats on Miles! My collectiing style is similar to yours. Mostly raw silver and bronze. But the first slab i ever purchased was edge of spiderverse 2. I think Gwen is fantastic character.
Mike, at first I thought your friends was going to be stuck with just fillers but was pleasantly surprised how many good books were in the haul. I thought $325 was fair for both parties. I would stay in touch with your friends to pick up more books at a better FMV in the future. To me that’s the best way to pick up these books. Keep in mind it’s also advantageous for them to sell to you directly from their homes and avoiding a lot of unnecessary selling fees that comes with selling comics on eBay, the cost renting tables, mailing cost, etc. Everyone walks away happy. 👍
Still here, still loving the channel, and thanks for putting tmnt on show with ur collection again. I read and collect all types of comics, breaks it up from Marvel and dc every now and then.
I think X23 is definitely in that tier right below Miles. She was already featured in a major film and if she makes a return in Deadpool it will cement her in Marvel going forward
i saw some x23 books when he was thumbing through the back stock books... i bought a bunch of long box back stock books from an online auction and it ended up being the 1st year of "something is killing the kids" and i got multiple copies of 1-5 and a handful of variants. they paid for the entire purchase and then some...i kept a 1-5 run 1st print and 2nd print for the future and tomorrow's buyers. if u havent read it and dont mind pyscho crazy with a heavy side of immaturity then i suggest giving it a read.
Modern comics are nothing like the older ones! With the quality overall I definitely prefer the old school over the new school but I do still read modern comics from time to time
Oh man, i wish i was there. I should have picked the ASM Campbell cover, Venom 3, many from the X-men stack and maybe the ASM301and Ultimate Spiderman 1 slabs. Plus many more hidden gems that was not shown in the vid..... Mike's channel is doing' very well, more expensive books comes closer by this. From Pocket Money to Lunch Money, into the BIG BOOKS.....!
Great Pick Up of the 1st Miles! I agree. My kids are not into comics at all. But, they think Miles is the Coolest Spider-Man. My Son literally jumped up and down when he saw my UFO4! I like SA Spider-man stuff. But, they both love the movies and will eventualyl inherit my copies of these books. Super enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work!
I'm going to be one of 'those' commenters that says "Mike, you're veering away from the original premise of your channel!" It's awesome that you got the Ultimate Fallout but in my opinion (you know what they say about opinions) I like it better when you show your dollar bin and flea market and those types of comic book finds. Still a great channel and video, love the positive feelings, thanks! hahaha
Also the 9.0 grade is mostly due to it being poly bagged and never pressed. You most likely could get a higher grade. Mint- Hunter comics has a video on it which was interesting and makes a lot of sense. Poly -bag comics are notorious for lower grades due to the back having a slight crease that needs to be pressed out.
The Poison Ivy series is solid. The artwork is great for both the covers and interiors (especially the drawings of the flora - very creative!). The writing is entertaining yet occasionally distrubing. It gives you a lot to think about.
Hello, first I would like to say great haul of comics at a great price!! Next I would like to say that I have the same outlook as you on comic collecting. Always buy what you want and read what you can. But I mostly buy from the bronze age because that’s what I grew up with. I do, however, buy modern comics as well, but only the titles of the characters that I collected as a child. Love the content and keep up the great job!!! 😎
Glad you got some stuff you and your son enjoy. Collecting has no boundaries. Get what you like. My favorite stuff is bronze age Marvel, yet I have a complete run of Squirrel Girl.
Totally agree regarding Miles. As a middle aged old school collector, I just didnt think id get Miles. Spiderman is Peter Parker. Wrong, watched Spiderverse at Christmas and loved it. Totally get Miles now
You are a comic book collector. Period. No asterisk, no qualifier, just get what turns you on. Even when it is outside the lines of how you collected before. It's evolution.
Had to look it up to be sure. Was worried that was the facsimile version that looks super similar. Only difference I saw was the barcode. Glad it looks like it is the first print. That is a great little haul.
Very awesome grabs this video! Your love for comics really stands out it’s great. I would definitely say my favorite modern comic in my collection is the first Jason Todd as Red Hood.
I started collecting comics in the early 1980s. That included back issues and new stuff. Regardless of the era that the books were from, I read them all. There was no slabbing back then. Some of those new books eventually became big keys. Sadly, I sold off a lot of the best stuff to pay bills, and I regret that so much. My Hulk 181 sold for $500, but that was pre-X-Men films. These days it would have been at least a 9.6, maybe higher. I do still have some good stuff, but a lot of filler.
Looks like wife has released your pocketbook...hah. It's hard not to continue picking new books for collection. Did same 35-45 years ago until room, marriage and time at work became an issue so sold many more valuable ones...Cool XMen book...good to have friends!
Miles Morales, the new Gwen, Stacy and I would say X 23 are the only characters that would keep the younger generation interested in comics and maybe push comics to be collected and future generations. That is just for the purpose of collecting comics and enjoying the Hobby.
X-Termintors is a fun little series (I caught that when you were going thru the piles) Kind of like a "Girl's Night Out" w Jubilee, Boom Boom, and Laura
The story you tell of how your son reacted when you came home with that ultimate fallout #4 makes the entire purchase priceless.
Thank you, I agree!
AWESOME- I believe Miles and Spider Gwen are going to be huge going forward! 😊 Great pick ups!
Thanks buddy!
I generally feel the same way regarding modern comics, BUT, there are some that affected me recently and I felt were going to stand the test of time so I may have dipped my toes in the modern realm as well…Fantastic as always my friend

Another great haul and video Mike! 2024 is off to a great start!!
I agree with You All around. Thanks for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario 😎👍❤️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️📚📚📚📚📚✨️✨️💯💯💯💯💯✨️✨️✨️
Awesome stack man. Where was it again that you got those issues? And your son will love it of course too.
And this is why i watch your videos with the upmost respect. Thank you for understanding how miles affected my gen. You are the man

Excellent point Alex, I see the same thing. My kids dress up as Miles and SpiderGwen and that certainly says something!
Really appreciate your approach and discipline to buying comics. Thanks for sharing.
I agree with Miles being the most impactful new Marvel character in awhile. I am 46yrs old and a Spider -Man fan / collector. I really enjoyed Miles when he came out but also had a big connection with the character as I am Puerto Rican as well.
Beautiful book!! Love that comic never gave buyers remorse when it comes to Miles Morales.

Collect whatever makes you happy man. You owe us nothing, no need to explain. This is your channel, do as you please.

Always informative and interesting Keep on educating us!!! Thanks
Looks like you had a blast mike! You started the year off with a bang and i agree miles is a cultural character def #1 in the modern post 2000 era😊
Aww, that's such a sweet story about your son lighting up when he saw the Ultimate Fallout comic! That's one I'm hoping to also get this year, its a great book. Great video, cant wait for the next one!!
Thanks so much, he was definitely excited for it, and I’m sure you’ll nab your own copy soon enough!
Awesome video! Awesome book keep up the great vids up.
I hung out with Josh yesterday and picked up that Miracle Man #1! Cape collection is very cool. Great pickup of Miles
Regards the younger generation, wise words Mike, wise words. Glad your son loved that book.
cool haul, dude had some great books on wall,...at store,...
I like older and modern comics. The older ones for the nostalgia from when I was young. The newer ones is to see what has happened to comic book characters that I followed when I was young. It is interesting to see how creators have developed them in modern times.

Great Pick Up with that UF4 and the Poison Ivy covers they all look really Dope ! DC has really done a great job lately with their covers IMO.

Aw, thanks so much! I'll definitely be talking more about my other hobbies and interests in future videos!
My opinions exactly Rob. I watch Mike for the same reasons.
Dude i love the hunt and the info on them. I too love the hunt... keep doing what you are doing! I learn alot about comics thru you! Thank you!
04:42 ‘Fantastic Four’ #4 😍 .5 No problem. I’d crack it open & breathe it in 😊
Great Scores!!
I think everything you said about collecting vs reading. And that Miles Morales is a great addition.
Ivy full arts were really nice! wow. Same I like Mile Morales as a stand-out character who is his own person.
Great video and thank you for sharing that wonderful hunt
i just love the vids man, super chill vibe. can just feel the love of the hobby
Thank you!
I collect modern but I collect to fill complete runs. That goes for older books too.
Christmas money comics lol
WOW that's a good deal it's this definitely on my list
Josh and Larry count as strange and unusual 😂 I like your definition of reading vs collecting. I treat my books and dvd/Blu-ray collections in the same way. What other characters will be in the psyche of kids today? Harley certainly. Congrats on the UF 4. That’s one of my grails.

Hey, not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but that UF4 gets dinged from the poly bag crease on the back. I had a 9.0 originally aswell and then got it pressed and regraded and it came back a 9.8

That ultimate fallout for was originally done in a polybag. It was probably never pressed on the back side. And you can see the polybag mart. Usually, when you see a polybag mark. It's an 852 at 9.0 I would send that back in, have it pressed, and you'll probably get a 96 or a 98.
Those poison ivy books look cool I definitely am a fan of the Harley Quinn show too
Great pickups! Cool to hear about your son's reaction seeing that UF4!
Feel much the same as you regarding nostalgia comics vs. 21st century comics. But I too sprung for my own UF 4. 😊
oh boy, now you're falling into that comic collector's blackhole of getting foil facsimiles!!! Turn back!! 😊Just kidding! Collect what you enjoy. The Ultimate Fallout 4 is a super big splash grab. Nice Miles Morales 🎉
I agree about Miles. Peter Parker is my generation Spider-man, and Miles is this generations Spider-man. I read Miles.

Thanks, the TMNT was always on display but for a while it was behind my head lol. So I got to enjoy it everyday but none of my watchers could!

Still a great channel and video, love the positive feelings, thanks! hahaha
My favorite new generation super hero is INVINCIBLE!!!!!! And the characters from The Walking Dead!!!!
I’m not a big DC person BUTTTTT, Poison Ivy is one of my favorite comics currently! Great story, even better covers.
Carpe comics!!!
Glad u are happy
The Poison Ivy series is solid. The artwork is great for both the covers and interiors (especially the drawings of the flora - very creative!). The writing is entertaining yet occasionally distrubing. It gives you a lot to think about.
Thank you!
I was hoping to pick a series like that up too… thanks for the review dom.
Hello, first I would like to say great haul of comics at a great price!! Next I would like to say that I have the same outlook as you on comic collecting. Always buy what you want and read what you can. But I mostly buy from the bronze age because that’s what I grew up with. Glad you got some stuff you and your son enjoy. Collecting has no boundaries. Get what you like. My favorite stuff is bronze age Marvel, yet I have a complete run of Squirrel Girl.
Brunch money comics this time
Great video. I remember when I landed my copy. I was rapt!
Great video, Mike!
Every collection should have a UF4 and EOSV2 for future generations. You did well with the UF4!!
Nice grab! Always enjoy your channel!
I feel privileged I was there when you got that book!
@@lunchmoneycomics I feel privileged you were as well!
Let your son keep Miles in his room. I lost a few Dazzlers to my daughter recently lol
Looks like wife has released your pocketbook...hah. It's hard not to continue picking new books for collection. Did same 35-45 years ago until room, marriage and time at work became an issue so sold many more valuable ones...Cool XMen book...good to have friends!
Congrats on your banger. Honestly, I haven't read a good Miles Morales story yet.
I collect comics no matter what year there from
Have Jeff check it out. It may have been graded without pressing the polybag crease out. Could actually be a 9.6 or 9.8 after Jeff gets ahold of it
That Ultimate Fallout in a 9.0 is listed on eBay anywhere from $450 to over a $1,000. 😮
People can list it for a million, they looked up actual sales and that's where they came up with $350
Miles Morales, the new Gwen, Stacy and I would say X 23 are the only characters that would keep the younger generation interested in comics and maybe push comics to be collected and future generations. That is just for the purpose of collecting comics and enjoying the Hobby.
X-Termintors is a fun little series (I caught that when you were going thru the piles) Kind of like a "Girl's Night Out" w Jubilee, Boom Boom, and Laura
I bought UF4 raw for $400 and sent it to be graded. I was hoping for a 9.8 but it was a 9.6 and is one of my favorite books in my collection.
