I like how you took the risk to send them in and have them graded and it looks like your risk paid off .your presentation of all your comics on your comic Channel are a number one. and yes I do enjoy the unboxing of your new and old comics comics.

I am soooo incredibly jealous of your Swamp Thing 1 and Showcase 60... those are both are in my top 10 PC Wants... congratulations LMC!!! You are making solid choices in what to get graded. The ASM and showcase look absolutely amazing in the CGC.
I really enjoy watching your show and I wish I knew someone here to clean/ press my books. I've been collecting over 40 years and I have a lot of books that could use some TLC. I like how you talk about the comics before sending them to CGC, it adds a lot more excitment and interest. Keep it up.
I really like comic unboxing videos, so I'm game for more. Besides, I really enjoy seeing what "strange and unusual places" you find your books at. Pretty good grades there, Mike. Especially that 8.0 on the Swamp Thing.
I typically hate unboxing videos too but really enjoy yours. The before and after is awesome. I know you don’t have guests usually but maybe Jeff from Comic Spa would come by for the next one.
Great unboxing video! I like how by now I’ve seen you acquire most of these books in past videos, still the context you gave about the cleaning process is very interesting. Great job on this video!
Hello, I am your newest subscriber, great returns. You made a comment about others unboxing videos and maybe no or less interest because they are someone else's books, etc. I like to watch CGC unboxings because it mostly reflects to what most of us have in our collections, we get to see the average grades (some low and some high) so, thank you for that! I also appreciate the stories associated with the books, it really helps to see the defects and the grades given, we all want to be better graders. I feel that it is worth buying CBCS slabs, I have had good returns sending them off to CGC after a clean & pressing here at home. The best u-tube CGC unboxings show FMV prices which really helps us gauge our own collection value too. Maybe you could include FMV in future shows. Todd MacLeod
Mike this was a killer video!! IT's nicer to know the history . Not just the in-book significance, but the personal war-story aspects as well! Anytime you want to do an unboxing from CGC you have my vote if the next one turns out like this one !!The SWAMP THING # 1 brought back memories I still have it. I bought it from my RA at Slippery Rock in the late '70'.s I paid him 3 bucks. Now that I've seen yours I've got to dig mine out!! If you ever decided to have your CAPTAIN AMERICA # 109 cleaned and submitted I 'd be curious to see how that turns out as well! Always fun to watch you on your comics hunting adventures. Always fun, always informative. Great job.. Thanks..
I like when people tell the stories about the comics they unbox so keep it up! Thats how I do it on our channel when I do card grading reveals and I get flamed in the comments "stop babbling and just show the grades"...I reveal grades how I would want to see grades revealed and if someone doesn't like it, feel free not to watch! haha.
Jeff is a magician! I'll need to reach out to him someday! Going to give him a follow! Love how you previewed the comics beforehand and showed the issues those comics were dealing with. Congrats on those bumps, and great video! 🤘
I liked this episode. I like seeing how they get cleaned and what they end up being graded as. it helps me figure out what my comics can end up being graded as after a proper cleaning.
I don’t necessarily mind unboxing videos, but I agree that getting the before-and-after and the context around the books adds a lot to the videos and makes them more enjoyable. Congrats on what you got back. Some really nice looking books there.
Congratulations on your CGC updated grades especially the Fantastic Four first appearance of Black Panther 5.0 grade which was a big decent bump, really nice happy for you. I think a 5.0 grade is a strong enough grade that'll give the word "oomph" an extra bump over a 4.5 grade any day. Nice review.
The value of your collection is growing my friend! Keep it up! I only have a few slabs in my collection but looking to add a big copper age key to the collection soon

1000% agree about unboxing videos. I watch videos to enhance my comic knowledge. Or I really appreciate the presenter. The way you present the background beforehand definitely enhances the video experience. I feel they are worth it as long as they are historic or highly valuable. I can't bring myself to send my books to anyone I don't know too. Once I can I intend to find protective cases though.
Hey Mike, the unveiling videos are cool as well. Jeff did a good job having those clean and press. I know you were hoping for an 8 on the last one but it still looks like a near mint in my eyes. Speaking of slabs I had a chance to get X-men #129 which would leave one more to complete my Dark Phoenix Saga but sadly it would be more than I would like to pay and it was a slab. The condition was 7.0. Instead, I got other comics which I'm proud of to have in my collection. I got New Mutants Annual #2, X-Men #205, Uncanny X-men #155, #157, and #164. I always wanted #155 because one Favorite Villain shows up, The Brood. Keep up the great hunt and make cool videos Mike.
Super impressive what your friend Jeff was able to do for your comics Mike! It’s becoming increasingly clear the new art form today is comic restoration! Lol. Btw I think my ASM #50 is the same condition as the one you have so it gives me hope for a decent mid-grade if I decide to send it to CGC.
Theses are brill grading a comic book like a car mot i love what you find love the slabs IV not got slabs but I'll start grading my self soon glad you got gd grades bud. 😊
Good morning Michael Only one thing to say Good Work McGurk! Well done to both yourself and Jeff. As always I look forward to what is coming up next. I was looking at your trophy wall, my how it has grown. Frankly I still prefer a 5.00 Slab than a 9.8. That comic has been read and re-read. How many collectors were created by reading that particular copy? 11000 subs is looking good. Cheers Al The Goldkeyfourcolorkidownunda
For the FF52, can guarantee you CGC didn’t miss the rust haha. It likely wasn’t a lot of rust. Depending on the amount it could torpedo the book, but if it’s just a little won’t affect it much. Also the difference isn’t a “Spider-Man bump” from the Hulk 181 to the ASM 50, just different era. The paper is different from bronze to silver and defects hit differently.
Congrats on some fantastic grades my friend! I know you’re not huge on slabs but these are some great examples of pieces of art that look amazing preserved in their cases. Awesome work my friend

I think most of us get excited because you are excited to see what you got back as graded comics. Never sent anything in to get graded, but have several that i am considering.
Congrats Mike. Like you it’s hard to accept that the Spider-Man 50 is a 4.0 and the Hulk is a 4.5. The Hulk book presents way better than Spider-Man 50. Not sure how to explain that. But overall I was glad to see that CGC did not give you a purple label on the Swampthing since I have heard horror stories on people just dry cleaning books and getting a purple labels. Must be the ComicSpa magic I guess😂 Enjoy!
Usually not a fan of CGC unboxing, however, that we were able to see you pick them up and see Jeff do his magic I actually look forward to your unboxing videos. Especially after watching the Jeff interview where he discussed his process. I actually want to send him my First Luke Cage as my first CGC grading.
I would love to hear your opinion on this, as well as the opinion of your viewers. Have you noticed if any of your slabs when you get them in from cgc they have same very light scratches on them? I really only noticed it will I took a picture with the flash on. I'm not sure if the scratches are just the light hitting the plastic of the case a certain way or maybe they got scratched from the slab sleeves I put on them (ironically to keep them from getting scratched haha). I also noticed some white splotches on them in certain spots (looks like its on the inner sleeve)...I've had similar issues with some of the slabs I get from BGS for cards (they also have an inner sleeve). I've seen the splotches talked about on the cgc forum so I know that is not an uncommon occurrence. My dilemma is do I send them to be reholdered and risk potentially damaging the books (they are Silver Surfer 1, 3, 4 that we found thrown in a random box of magazines in my father in laws office) or do I just deal with it and be happy with how well they graded? Thanks and keep up the great content!
I don’t think it’s uncommon at all, I’ve received some with very slight scratches which could be from the plastic itself. The spots and newton rings are more common. That ASM 50 is awesome! That's such an awesome book to have in your collection. I'm currently on Jeff's waitlist, so I can't wait to see the work he does on my comics. Yours always look so great!

I saw that first Swamp Thing at my LCS and I definitely thought about getting it. They have it priced at $100, any advice on what I should look at for that price on it?
Wow that’s tough. I mean if you are looking for value you need to have a good memory for key issues, otherwise old>new, 90s is generally bad, and there are some rare modern variants though I don’t know much about them. When in doubt, collect what you like, you’ll be surprised at how often good taste in comics and a gut feeling will work out for you.
@@lunchmoneycomics thanks for the advice. Also, new subscriber and I saw the video where you pulled the Hulk 181 and what an amazing find!! That is on my list of comics that I would love to own!!
Never a big fan of the unboxing… especially the reveal part. But the stories the before and after and then the grade for validation. Win. I love the going to yard sales and local shops (still waiting to see Sarge’s in New London) but these are cool. I have stated it before, I am a completist not a grade hog. Which doesn’t seem to be the norm anymore.
Of course, but the best way usually requires removing the staple, and if it’s brittle it could break. If you treat it on the book there is risk of damaging the book, and if you scratch the staple CGC could suspect restoration. I think Jeff was able to lessen it a bit which is why it graded a little higher than I expected.
