After dishing out thousands of euros in trying to get my skin to look even and bright, I decided to change things radically. Just started doing this routine a week ago. Rosacea, outbreaks, dryness and patchiness is already gone. I use Cerave cleanser with a soft brush in the evening, I follow with the classic blue Nivea cream, and in the morning I just rinse my face with cool water and follow with Cerave cream with SPF. My skin is very even in color, no outbreaks, no redness...I don't think my skin has been looking and feeling this good in 20 yrs. Easy, simple and cheap seems to be the way to go.

This video is actually the cornerstone of everything or as we all the the very "beginning" the actual "START". Doctor Andrea once again debunks the whole complicated concept of difficult or overly high budget costly skincare routines. Simplicity is the key cleanse with mild fragrance free cleanser and then basic moisturizer and as a final touch or a dash of perfection i would say is the holy Sunscreen either be chemical or mineral. Reminding us something this important is crucial and essential to the core. Thanks once again Miss Andrea may you have a wonderful magical happy Tuesday only with smiles, laughs and lots lots of love and care. 💖💎💙😇🙏😊☺☀😁🙏

What is the purpose of putting a moisturiser under your sunscreen, because I’ve seen so many people doing it? Most products marketed as sunscreen are basically moisturisers with added UV filters, so if you wanted to simplify your routine, why do this extra step? I’m not criticising it or saying it’s wrong, by the way, I’m just genuinely curious why so many people basically put on two different moisturisers in the morning - one with SPF and one without.

Dr. Dray is once again 100% on the mark! About two weeks ago I went "back to basics" to combat the cold weather and dry indoor heating in NYC. I use Vanicream facial cleanser at night, then the Vanircream daily moisturizer. Daytime is the same moisturizer along with the Vanicream sunscreen. And if it's really dry out, I use the Inkey List's Urea face cream. My "active" is the Inkey List's collagen peptide serum once a day. And wow, my skin is smooth, hydrated and dewy. I will try to stay on this regime and not be tempted by the last "it" creams and ingredients.

I have changed my skincare routine gradually to the routine Dr. Dray explained in this video and it has just made all the difference! I've been doing it for about a year now: Double cleanse, moisturize, sunscreen. My skin has just gotten sooo good! Easily the best it every was. Also, because it's been going so great, I have started incooperating niacinamide into my routine and there have been no problems. I can only recommend watching Dr. Drays video of how she does her own skincare routine. This has originally inspired me to change mine + it is so well explained. Thank you a lot, Dr. Dray! :D

The more I've gotten into skincare, the less I'm spending, and the more boring it's gotten. I used to want all they super hyped ingredients. Now I just want as few as possible. My favorite ingredient now is petrolatum. And Vanicream has become my go-to brand. Definitely can't say enough about their cleanser.

Thanks Dr Dray. In 2021-2022, I went overboard with the amount of skincare products I was using and compromised my skin barrier and relapsed with cystic acne. Simplifying my routine to a gentle cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen from a brand I like, La Roche Posay, AND getting dermatologist treatment for my acne have helped me heal my skin. It’s been a journey but I’ve learnt my lesson that sometimes less is more ❤️ it’s a good feeling being once again comfortable in my own skin, literally

  • @orangejuicy999
    @orangejuicy999 ปีที่แล้ว +10

Such good advice. I notice my skin looks the best when I have the least amount of products daily. I also make sure to give my skin a rest from topical treatments and only use a moisturizer after cleansing the next day or two depending on what my skin needs. It’s not about hitting the number of products in a routine, it’s about giving your skin what it needs (and doesn’t ) to support it’s natural barrier.

Thanks for this resetting video! A few years ago, when I found youtube skincare influencers and content creators, I was hooked. Watched everything, consumed everything, just loved it- a whole new world opened for me with lots of information and tons of new shiny products that promised me perfect skin. I came for the skincare, stayed for the community... but seriously considering to leave because of this insane over consumption, hauls, empties, new stuff, coupon codes, purchase pressure. To me, youtube skincare community reduced itself to a TV Teleshop channel. No amount of new skincare seems to be enough- just buy more more more. However, Basic Skincare is the best for skin and has been for millions of years. Skin is just skin- if you feed it well and protect it from the sun, it will stay healthy and beautiful. If you overfeed it, it will just ruin it.

I was using retinoids that were stronger than they should have been. It was fine for awhile, but then, especially around my mouth and lips (I didn’t even put any on them), began to peel and my lip had sore patches on them. I’m still dealing with it and learned a good lesson about taking things too far. My skin is normally very tolerant, but it can happen to anyone and there are reasons why drugs come at maximum strengths.

@@shawnee. I started correctly -retinol for a year, differing for a couple of months, then on to retinoids. 0.025%, then, 0.05% and then at 0.1%. It was fine until I got into a facility where I could make retinoids stronger than they manufacture. I was fine for a good while and then, BOOM, my skin got tight, flakey, but the worst are my lips, that are still
recovering. The skin would peel off every day and eventually went down to the lower levels of skin. Talk about discomfort. I’ve stopped those powerful retinoids for a good month now, but I still have to constantly moisturize and top my lips with Vaseline and lipsticks always look textured on me. I’ve backed away until my skin improves notably and I’ve restarted with OTC retinols and so far so good. Thank you for asking -I don’t mean to ramble but it was a stupid thing I did and if I can encourage others not to take it too far in the race against age, I will. It’s not worth it.

Thank you Dr. Dray for educating me. I've always loved skincare more than makeup, I began taking care of my skin in my teens years as I have oily skin. Double cleansed without knowing it was they way to go, but intuitively, I just felt like I needed to. Then, in my 20s, as you know, my skin changed, and I began using SK2 products that cost me an eye, arm, and a kidney... they worked great, but I just didn't like spending the money but fell into the marketing trap that if it's expensive, it's good. Now, in my mid 30s naturally my skin has changed, and boy am I glad I found you!! I ditched the expensive products, I learned about what my skin does as I get "wiser", ingredients, and definitely price. I can go on and on what I've learned from you and my skin, my pocket, and I thank you!!!

My barrier has been completely destroyed from the dial antibacterial bar soap an infectious disease doctor told me to use after getting a MRSA infection from playing hockey.
All bar soaps, including Cerave gentle cleanser bar soap, pure organic goat milk, olive oil, whatever it may be they dry my skin and cause severe atopic reactions. I always had perfect skin, tanned real nicely and could put moisturizer on. Now Im allergic to everything- pure shea butter causes severe hives. I only shower with water now but even that causes redness. I can't believe that I am going through this and- all these Cerave, Cetaphil, vanicream products contain chemicals that are known allergens such as lanolin, benzoate, and propylene glycol. Trying to get my skin barrier back without throwing chemicals on it has been next to impossible now.

After that my skin was so hydrated and smooth (even textured acne scars were Smoothed out) that I decided to give Tret a try and it’s been going great (only two weeks in with one application a week)

I would be interested to see some analysis of mineral sunscreen pH levels and their impact on the skin barrier. I have tried to only use mineral sunscreens for a long time, but I find that they tend to have high pH (I don’t even have sensitive skin and I felt a burning sensation from Babo, which I then litmus tested around pH9); I have seen it mentioned in a few places that mineral sunscreens tend to be formulated with high pH because it improves their SPF testing results, but I am concerned about the impact a high pH topical has on skin barrier and raising the skin’s pH. Even brands I like that pH balance their products and are transparent about pH values, like Humanrace, have mineral sunscreens with pH I would view as high as enough to hypothetically bring the skin’s surface pH out of the acidic range. I’m wondering if this is a valid concern, or if maybe moisturizers underneath the sunscreen form a protective enough layer to allow skin to maintain an ideal pH. Can you provide some more context around this? I haven’t found any good information around it.

Dr. Dray, I hope you can help me. I am 63 and for the past year I have been dealing with contact dermatitis on my face, neck, chest and hands. After seeing 2 drs to get it diagnosed properly, I have identified SLS/SLES and urea as triggers, although I continue to get flare ups, never quite sure from what ingredient. I love skincare and this has rocked my world.
My dr has prescribed 2.5% hydrocortisone gel, which I use during a flare up. My question for you is how do I strengthen the barrier of the palms of my hands? My hands hurt so much and are so sensitive, they never seem to heal from a flare up.
Any tips for contact dermatitis? Thank you so much.

I try different skin care than usual on occasion it worked most times. Recently , I ordered a few things from Sephora and they sent free samples tried didn’t read seemed benign applied it overnight I was horrified turns out it had one of the acids in it AHA OMG THREE DAYS LATER STILL PUTTING CORTISONE on face ITS FEELING AND LOOKING LESS ANGRY but still red! This video great for me at the moment for sure. First time not reading ingredients just read front of free sample last time too…..thanks for all you do for this community online .

Thank you for all you do Dr Dray. Really struggling to get back to even basic cleansing. My skin has become so stripped and raw, that I can’t use water on my face at all, even with all the suggested gentle cleansers. Think it’s a combination of the wetness and the friction created on my face, even using very very gentle fingertips. As a result cotton pads and cloths are also an absolute no. My skin will just not tolerate it or even the rinsing with luke warm water. I get the same reaction if I try to massage in wet moisturiser. Coming up to my third visit to a dermatologist and I’m no further on in healing my skin barrier after almost 4 months. I’m at a loss as I can’t even cleanse my skin so my face continually gets stripped and inflamed. What do I do when I can’t do the first stage - cleansing - of skin priming to begin to heal my skin? Am absolutely desperate

I’ll put la Roche-Posay 50+ invisible fluid over the top if I’m outside or Estée Lauder futurist foundation with spf 20 for outings it’s a beautiful product not too heavy. Neutrogena have 50 spf which is equal to la Roche and much cheaper in price😀🌺I think over the years when I’ve bought expensive moisturisers ect. It made me feel good but did little else?

I've honestly been struggling with my skin and hair recently, and I've gone through the biggest rollercoaster about natural products, diy products, and the absolute abundant amount of myths around something that shouldn't be so hard to come up with. I have done so much research and had some hesitance with hyper refined products and you've completely changed my perspective. I was literally going down the path of unrefined products that, as you said, have an insanely large amount of other inactive or even actively harmful chemicals that would basically negate the effects that we are after. I'm just floored here. I bought a handful of vials of oils (rosehip, grapeseed, tamanu, neem, moringa, 2 butters, etc) along with vitamin e antioxidant and I was hoping to make a balm and a simple hair oil but now I'm hesitant. I'd love to hear some feedback about what I can do about all these fresh vials now

I never had a skincare routine until recently. I've tried basics like 2 years ago, but it was very inconsistent. I'd do it like once every other week or so.. But starting Decembern2022, I purchased a skincare box with a cleanser, toner, chemical exfoliant, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen. I started using that twice everyday, except the exfoliant. I think it's been irritating my skin. My skin is always pink/red, in both my cheeks area and my chin area. Some days it's less irritated, some dares are more. I feel like it's always been a little pink, with also being a healthcare worker, I have to wear a mask 9 hours a day, the friction of the masks on top of all these skincare products are further irritating my skin even more.. I just purchased cotton masks from amazon, hoping they will help and currently am trying to go back to the basics, hoping further along, I'' be able to use toners, exfoliants, and serums and benefit from them instead of being irritated by them lol.

Part of my neck is red, and itchy, on the left and right side. Don’t know why. I thing it was the car seat belt digging in to my neck, but the other side is also irritated. What I put on my neck is the same as what I put on my face. Am- Timesless Vit C and timeless Q10, HadaLabo lotion, cerave cream or lotion, maybe Ordinary Azelaic acid 10%, maybe timeless squalane oil, and then a sunscreen. PM-double cleansing and then skII esscene, timesless Q10, hadalabo lotion, cerave cream or location, ,maybe ordinary Azelaic acid, maybe squalane oil, maybe corsrx snail moisturizer, maybe aloe Vera, and the final is Tretinoin .05% or differin .1% ,and maybe 5% la roche posay benzoyl peroxide where needed.

dr dray im concerned about Glycerin because it is a fat, and it goes into your face , it is basically making u fatter and i dont want to be fat in my face for the "plump" look that women want, as a man I want a slim face not bloated/puffy

I healed my skin recently, following Dr Dray's advice, altho I probably add too many serums still LOL. I was actually disappointed today because I went to add my 2nd moisturizer, but my skin is fully hydrated, so I had to stop. In November thru mid December, I was using 4-5 layers of moisturizer plus oils. The warming temps have helped, but I cannot believe that Black Girl Sunscreen was all I needed today! I mostly credit the new Gold Bond lotions, which I always use at night, and usually in the day. once you've got a simple, evidence based routine with affordable & effective products, you'll see some great results! I have found that, even when I package them fancy, I definitely use my affordable skincare products more generously (not excessively tho) and cover my arms, neck, & chest more thoroughly. I've added several body parts to my AM routine...my armpits & underbreast were always so itchy, I cannot believe I didn't think of giving them a little routine (benzoyl peroxide is a game changer!). Thanks doctor! And definitely try Dr Dray's methods - people out in the world just see your skin, not the products you use. You can always transfer your products to aesthetically pleasing jars and containers.
