I feel sad about people in their 40s talking about being comfortable with ageing. They have no idea what's coming once they hit their 60s. Enjoy your youth while you still have it. Btw - I look good for my age and have been told I look ten years younger. I’ve been on HRT since I entered postmenopause 10 years ago. I do a lot of yoga, eat well, have a job I love, a wonderful family and friends. But it gets harder and harder as your body continues to break down. It’s a fact. So, as I said, enjoy your youth.
🙏 Thank you for your reminder

Don't make me afraid. Ageing is a blessing that is not granted to every one. What can we do to still be happy n healthy n fit with advancing age ? Any advice ?
that's what I tell my son and his wife stay youthful while you can take care of your skin now, because you don't want to look like I do, and I'm 58 almost 60, but I like aging is something you can't stop, so you might as well like it
My mother is 65 and she looks great. Not everybody has the same (scary) story...
I got diagnosed with IBD this month and it has forced me to cut off all sugar, processed carbs, and gluten. I have been eating a lot of salmon, berries, kale, avocado, macadamia nuts, sweet potatoes, etc. Already I have seen a difference in my skin even though that was never the goal. Diet is SUPER important.
pls be careful with foods that have a lot of oxalates in them (kale is one of them)

I'm in the same boat. I was eating terrible before gut issues. Lots of sugar and carbs. i noticed myself looking really haggard around 31 or 32. I developed gut issues and went on an elimination diet of mostly animal foods and a few select low irritation plants. A few months later i noticed the difference in my skin. The wrinkles i was getting softened and i started getting carded again on the rare occasions i buy wine lol. I'm 38 now, no wrinkles, and still get people telling me they thought for sure i was underage
I love when doctors speak the truth and honestly care about people. This kind of doctors we want !

Collagen supplements work 100%, despite what my orthopedic said that they don't work for joints, it actually reduces my pain a lot. and despite what this video is saying I have noticed a huge difference in the way my aunt's face looked after she took a collagen supplement for a month.

Please don’t forget ladies in their 60’s. I’ve taken good care of my skin over the years, but would love any advice you may have to offer. I just found you today and I’m so grateful for your honesty! Keep it up. ❤
What do you do for your skin currently?
Her advice is always accurate, she is one of the good ones out there!!! ❤
Concise, evidence based information, delivered with humour…..perfect.
LOVE this video! I'm the kind of skincare junkie that's obsessed with ingredient labels. I look up the back of everything. Its difficult to learn about the efficacy and uses for a lot of these ingredients by searching online so this is amazing. I can learn all of this stuff while doing my laundry! This collagen video is soooo helpful!!!😄👏👏
I love that u r talking about lifestyle and moderation coz we all need those reminders, especially in the environment we live in. Healthy balance :) Thank you for that !
I have been reading books, watching videos, and listening to podcasts about skincare for yeaaars now because of my acne problems. I am SO happy I just found this page. Your explanations are so clear ! Thank youuuuuuu❤
This video was super helpful and comprehensive! Thank you so much. ❤️And good point about social media causing younger women to notice aging sooner. I’ve been noticing my lines since early twenties. 🙄
You deliver with such sass !!!! Your the real deal for sure. We learn so much from you and your honesty.

This doctor knows her stuff. Always happy to be educated by Dr. Idriss!!
It is really refreshing to hear some clear logical honest education on skin treatmen
These were the most well spent 19 minutes of my day. Thank you!
Kudos to you for giving the straight answer right away, knowing it could kill the video! And yes, I am watching all the way through.
I like that she speak the truth about any subject. As a medical esthetician one of my duties is to educate, inform about skincare/ skin routine, ingredients to my clients in order to get them the best for their concerns.
Thank you for this video! I love real, factual information. I like that you talk about food too, not just products. You can do a lot with nutrition.
I'm a chemistry student hoping to proceed in dermatology and I love how you talked about coenzymes and ATP
I like the Saturday learning as Dr Shereene taught a lot of knowledge about our skin. I am focusing on anti-aging products and how to prevent sun damage as I love outdoor activity but I hate suntan.
You are absolutely fabulous Dr Idriss. I love and appreciate how honest, candid and real you are - so refreshing ❤
Dr Sheerene your Blogs are brilliant, great source of knowledge that debunks all sorts of myths and fables…thank you
I see so many doctors (the one I work for included) that claims their products and procedures will give people a new skin. He’s so in love with money, that’s all he sees. Thank you for being honest and straightforward, we need more doctors like you. These treatments and skincare products definitely work, but there’s so much more to it!
Hi Dr Idriss. Love the collagen information in your video. So many I know are promoting the edible collagens as the miracle booster. You’re always true to your followers sharing the science and not the hype!! 😘💜
Having a menstrual cycle for decades wasn't a joyride for me. Menopause often is portrayed as doom and gloom. I am learning to embrace aging. I feel more confident in my 40s, aware and take better care of myself. With age, comes wisdom. I can't control the future, but I can make smarter choices each day that will support my mind and body. I personally add Vital marine collagen to my protein shakes, and it works for me, in addition I add maca, moringa, mushroom master blend, l-lysine, vitamin c and d3/k2 and feel balanced. I would love to see more emphasis on the positive side of aging. Maybe I sound impractical, but I prefer to be optimistic.
I like this alot!!!💜
Love this ❤
wow you look great!!
@@alexia964 You are too kind, thank you. 😘
40 is not old 😂You’re only 40 that’s why you can fantasize about ageing. Wait another 10 yrs and try again😂. Ageing is not fun, not making you any wiser, you decline so fast that you don’t want to take pictures anymore .Mental decline is the worst … focus, sharpness all gone .
Instead of” embracing” it, (that sounds cute but not realistic) better prepare yourself, be one step ahead of it , read and educate yourself how to manage the decline bc it’s coming and it’s not something to embrace .👍
Dr. I’m obsessed (in a good way) with your fabulous channel. You’re so relatable.
You’re radiant sherine ❤❤keep up the engaging content👏🏽
Damn, this video is the best you’ve ever done and every single previous videos are already so good. But this vid is next level deep, thorough , comprehensive and challenge viewers to rethink about how they can approach aging in a more holistic way instead of just focusing on skincare. 👏👏👏
Amazing video doctor! Very neat, well put together, explained in an easy manner. I also love the non preaching aspect. Some doctors put a lot of pressure with these guidelines and makes life so stressful.
Subscribed for the no bull information, honesty and down to earth vibe! 💛 x
LOVE all the science based info! Super motivating and helpful 😊
Never heard anyone recommend looking at your diet with a weekly view. Excellent advice! When I start listening to dietary advice about what we need, I get super stressed as that would mean increasing what I eat and I don't want to do that at 50 😅

Instant subscribe because of the honesty and facts. Thank you , you already saved me money on unnecessary supplements 🙏
Another truly wonderful and educational skincare video from you doctor. I want to thank you for all the time you clearly put in pre and post production. I know those notes/script do not write themselves and for that we’re all very grateful. Have a wonderful week.

Hi doc,
This is actually true for me. Before i thought putting expensive skin care will just be fine but after i changed my lifestyle, i ate more fruits had a good sleep routine and facial excersises along side my carefully picked skin care products i noticed changes in my skin and boosted my confidence when my friends noticed it too. So yeah you have to keep everything in balance! This is a great info for everyone who are really confused with so much advertisement such as myself who just wanted to have a better skin not perfect cause i know it doesnt exist but healthy enough as i age gracefully.
I’m going to school to be a dermatologist PA and your channel is my favorite! I’ve learned so much and hope I get to work in an office like yours one day

Dear Dr Idriss, thank you for your helpful videos. They are wonderful! I would love it if you would be a video on advising a skin care routine for post menopausal skin.
Yes please, post menopausal skin care would be greatly appreciated. Hi from Australia.
Loved this video, thank you!!! Regarding exercise I recently started with yoga, and while I am aware of the waste variety of yoga teachings and quality of such, I must say that when it is good it covers so much (resistance training, flexibility and balance, lymphatic drainage, blood flow getting better to all places thus also improving skin texture, relaxation and stress management) in just a 60-90 min session.
Thnx
all the yoga non the world isn't going to replace the female hormones & testosterone
You should try incorporating resistance training as in weight lifting. Yoga is more for flexibility and relaxation so I do both. Weight lifting increases muscle and bone density and therefore collage production too

Thank you so much Dr. Shereene. Very informative and comprehensive video.❤
I appreciate your sensible and professional advice. I think genetics are also an important factor in the aging process. I have berries and nuts every am and I’ve been juicing spinach, greens, celery and a citrus. Wow! Also take Collagen Type 1,2,3,5 and 10 for the joints and tendons. Had to wait 2 years for a new hip. Great video🙌🏻

I notice a massive difference in my skin when I eat chicken soup regularly. I think the collagen-boosting factor is present in the part of the soup that seems to be thicker, glossy, and even a bit slimy. So you don't want to skim the soup too much. Also, eating chicken or fish skin. These are huge collagen boosters, in my personal experience!!!
Love it 👍👍 👍👍👍
Great video, Dr. Idriss. Thanks for your honesty!

Stay healthy beauties
My dad is 57 and has never used SPF and drinks and doesn't care too much for healthy food and let me tell you..... His health is in top shape, no bones hurt, he has more stamina than a 30 year old. The other day I saw a picture of him next to a 38 year old and he looked younger.... My mom has been asked if he has a pact with the devil 😂 I think it's his good genes and that he has always exercised. He has always been active person. Taking us hikes, running etc. I just hope I have this side of his good genes.
I know. I laugh that my dad, as an Urologist used to have to perform 3x as many transplants for patients than his colleagues who were P O d at him with such snarky remarks such as are you buying yourself a golden coffin?? Heck. I know my dad enough to know he would never do anything that he didn't like doing. The only washing he did too much of was scrubbing before surgery. He was a really laid back guy who shows up not late but down to the wire to do life saving surgeries. It must have been really rewarding. He was out in the sun a lot when he was a kid, but also read a lot, er obviously. at 85, he looked barely 50. People would think he was a lot younger. He stayed out of the sun, but only because he became allergic to sunlight from all that scrubbing or whatever. I honestly think he was an alien. I mean he did not have any permanent wrinkles. OK This isn't fair. I only got half his genes and he didn't get much sleep either. He also ate on the run. I am surprised he lived till 86. He thought he might hit 90 at most. However, it was a stroke TIA that took him while he was browsing the ginger in the vegetable aisle at a grocery store, and he was gone in 4 days. I never got to say good bye to him. I feel like this is not the end. He was too chill to see me cry. I didn't. I knew he had been rewarded for his dedication. It was something he loved to do as well. How lucky was he? . My mom was in the washroom and didn't think it would be that fast she missed the end. My brothers said he just smiled and closed his eyes, looking all of 50 they were there and I wasn't able to be there as well. I wish he had spent more time with us. He was one dedicated doctor. I was mad because he shortened some of our vacations because he had to go back to do one day of consultation. I know he's still around. That's how I feel, OK dad? He seems to have sneaked away from my mom. 😂.
My dad is 55 and he is like that too!!😊...hope I inherited his genes..😋
Being active is key really, that must explain your Dads health and fitness. The body is designed to move.

Actually collagen works 😅 as long as you take it religiously it plumps the skin. What about biosil can you review it please???
Apparently fasting works but it not for the faint of heart 😢..
@@michelleurizar9672try starting with waiting a little longer each day for your breakfast until you are able to skip it all together and eat at around noon. when you now also not eat until you fall into your bed (which is anyways better to sleep better. meaning stop eating around 3h before bed) then you are officially fasting intermediary
It's the UVAs that you have to protect against as well as UVBs.
I'm so glad ur channel exist

after having viewed this I was awaken that it seems you are telling the viewers to put an end on those buying pills/ collagen and just go for the natural way, with that thank you so much
I had to find this on my own but people, if you take supplements for collagen (like powdered peptides) DON'T forget to take lysine supplements too. It's crucial in helping build collagen.
I love your direct no BS style
You're the best, really happy to come across your video.
I don't know why but I like this doctor.😊
Hi, Dr Idriss, I just love your videos! They make my day! I am a medical doctor myself (not a dermatologist) and I would really love if you can make a video or share at least here in the comments your opinion about DMAE in skincare. Are there enough studies and evidence it is worth including in our skincare routine? Thank you so much in advance! ❤
Thank goodness you popped up on my feed! Best advice!
TH-cam algorithm sent me here and I really like the way she speak!
@Dr. Shereene Idris Thank you for clearing up the questions I have been asking about collagen supplements. I do feel sleep is one very important factor to highlight from the beginning as during sleep, the body goes through a repair process including skin repair. When I don't sleep well my skin lacks glow and breakouts occur.
Love your videos! I’ve been taking the ProCap Labs marine collagen peptides off and on for the past 15 years. I’m telling you it works and shows in my skin, hair and nails. I’m soon to be 54 and I easily pass for 35. Yes I take care of myself and use sunscreen everyday. Eat right, exercise, use sunscreen and take some supplements. Good basic skincare is critical.
Collagen powder has been great for my skin! Science hasn’t caught up yet, but it will eventually.
Paleovalley grass fed bone broth protein did wonders for my skin. Several people noticed. High quality collagen products do work. The proofs in the pudding.
I am so glad I found you. Your videos are so informative 🧡🧡🧡
Thanks for a very nice explanation. I have been watching a lot of videos regarding collagen and you’re the only one explain it in layman’s term. I enjoy watching your videos because you are educating us too at the same time.
I was really happy to learn about copper peptides. I saw a clip recently of a dietician who explained that zinc supplements can deplete copper. That immediately rang a bell with me, because the Covid year we all profusely supplemented on zinc was also the time my skin turned visibly thinner and noticeably sagged on me. Copper supplements are hard to find. There is a little in spirulina, but not much.
I also find that my friends who refuse HRT suffer way quicker skin deterioration than those who use it, so I suppose oestrogen must play a role too. There's a new wave of medical researchers, particularly women, who feel that oestrogen supplementation should start way earlier than menopause, for a list of reasons.
@isabelledetaillefer2726 I am 36 years old and have premature ovarian failure so I am beginning HRT. I'm really nervous my body is just going to fall apart and I'm not even the normal age. I wonder if you or anyone have any tips?
Hi Dr. Idriss, thank you for this video!!! Could you please do one about what Ehlers-Danlos syndrome does to our skin?
Thank you so much, so much useful information, blessings to you and everyone watching in their journey 🙏
Love your advice on skin care, please talk more about red light therapy and what you use, this field is so interesting
Bone broth is easy to add to your diet by replacing regular broth or water in a pan to stop aromatics from burning. Little things like that are a great way to get a bit of it in your diet without having to worry about the taste. And FreakFlag makes some pretty tasty unique flavors like chicken tortilla soup which we use as the broth in our chicken tortilla stew ;)
she probably still yearns pizza & other crap aka SAD ( standard American Diet )
Congratulations! What a great video about collagen! With such clarity, precision and humor! Bravo! Glad you mentioned also the great role of Coenzyme Q10! Can't agree more!
A.C.E. (Vitamin A, retinol, Vitamin C, ascorbic acid, (both skin collagen boosters!) Vitamin E) and
Coenzyme Q10, energy booster, cellular energy booster! Thank you for sharing all these great informations Doctor Idriss
Love your videos! Very informative but can we do a more detailed video of how we combine everything all together. Also a video on what cosmetic procedures you’d recommend to support anti aging.
That's a great point because I am a super fast healer and when I take collagen I see results the same day. Imagining that it is actually my own body reacting to it makes so much more sense!
Hi Dr.Sheerene, How often is recommended to do professional micro needling in a year? And how long a red light therapy at home should be? Thanks you for your great and informative videos, love them❤
