This is from a 70 yr old lady. That was beautiful. Never heard of Dream Theater or experienced it. At first I didnt like the heavy metal part but after hearing it all ,it all fits. The tranqil part and orchestra part was very deep and visual. The comments were all great testimony to this music. I'd like to hear more. Thanks.

You are fantastic Patricia!!!! Thank you for saying something of real value. Very inspiring!!!! Good on you for stretching your boundaries a bit. It may be interesting to learn that our very first videos on this channel were reacting to DT’s new album. Search Kel n rich Dream Theater At Wit’s End, Barstool Warrior, S2N Pale Blue Dot. You’ll see us before we actually had a channel but quickly led to one. Enjoy going down this rabbit hole with us!

Dream Theater is always an emotional rollercoaster. Their music has and always will be the soundtrack to my life. I've been listening to them since I was 20 back in 1993. Everytime I hear their music it's like the first time. They speak to my soul musically and lyrically.

"To really feel the joy in life you must suffer through the pain".. Is how they write music. The contrast between the tone of the music flipping from uncomfortable only to flip into extremely melodic increases the intensity and emotion of the melodic parts. Its all about contrast. Light looks brightest next to darkness. Love this song and your reaction

Thank you for finally getting to this. I knew this one might get a tear or two out of Kel. One of the reasons i watch this channel is to see, hear and feel the music with you two. Sometimes the music of Dream Theater can bring life into perspective and make you think deeper about life. Bring about an appreciation for it and better understanding. At least for me.

So, what exactly is it that makes us watch these First Reaction videos, anyway? Why is it that I've heard this particular song 50 plus times and listening to it just one more time while watching You listen for the very first time brings me to the same pile of tears that it did when I first heard it? There's a very intrinsic human value realized when somehow living again the very first time you hear a beautiful piece of music through watching your best friend (or, in this case a "perfect stranger") go through the same emotions, even if their reason for reacting the way they do is entirely different than yours.
It's the quintessential point of validation but also a form of unity has been established through sheer emotion. This is the reason that music is the universal language. When Kel broke down in the middle and at the end of this song, I just felt an immediate thought of "don't worry, dear- we will all protect you" (as the rain started to fall on my shirt). Your breakdown broke me, again and I freaking knew the storm was coming but I couldn't bring my finger to press the pause/stop button. I didn't WANT it to not come. I was hoping for it, like a drug, to feel again the same way I did when I first heard it- before I became gradually desensitized to it through many, many plays.
I still get anxiety when turning people on to stuff for the very first time. I think, for me it's the validation and also my wantonness to take someone to a place they've never been before and to never forget it. I want to pass those feelings on to the person THEY turn the music on to. This, somehow allows me to (in a way) live on past my single first experience to a place where I can, by proxy, possibly change people's lives that I have never, and will never meet.
I've seen hundreds of Reaction Videos by countless people. They've all done what they've done for various reasons and most of them were not quite suited to be doing this new thing. For some reason the camera conveys your naked honesty and passion to my monitor with utmost precision. In my book, in the world of Reaction Videos, You are the King and Queen. Please, take care of yourselves and know that you are cared for.

That's one of the most thoughtful TH-cam comments I've ever seen. Well stated. I absolutely relate to that feeling of "Will they like it?" especially if it took me a while to like it. And if they don't, I think that they're missing out on so much, even though they probably feel the same way about something else that isn't to my liking.

Middle part orchestrated by Eren Başbuğ - interesting and talented young man!
And thanks for this reaction - it made me to look at the lyrics. I usually do not pay much attention to them and thanks to not being native speaker, I can "switch off", but now I see it is even stronger than I thought.

Such a raw reaction, thank you! The fact that Kel is able to use some of the music to release some emotions is a very healthy and positive thing. Dream Theater and Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree have been 2 bands that have moved me to tears through the years. Some songs I actually even get anxiety over thinking about, because they bring back such painful times. Songs like Beneath the Surface (DT), Half Light (SW), and Collapse the Light Into Earth (PT) are ones I can only listen to once in a great while, but sometimes it’s important for me to do so. Also, the orchestral section in Illumination Theory moves me to tears without even having a painful memory attached. It’s just that damn powerful!

Forgot to add - NEVER feel bad over crying during a reaction! In my opinion, this kind of emotional response is one of the the most outwardly honest, and organic things to occur. There are a sea of fake reaction channels out there, and this proves that you’re not one of them

This reaction proves why Dream Theater is the best band to ever exist. Their music is a gut wrenching emotional experience-from anger to sadness to joy to craziness-to whatever emotion exist and some you didn't know exist. WOW!!

Kell's tears happened exactly where mine started on my first ever listen, it was like a Orchestrated version of TAMMY that went into a BACH-ish type of deep melancholy.
It got me the same place for months the tears would flow as i drove to Church street recording studio's to finish The vocal's on E3Project's LP / SYMPHONY OF LOVE- an Album dedicated to my Late wife that fought Cancer for 8 years until finally succumbing to the disease in 2015...
This inspired me to sing my farking heart out on the ALBUM..... God bless Lizzy and DREAM THEATER

I cried too don't worry, the first time i heard it and this time =) I have the last 2 lines of this gong tattooed on my arm and it is my first and so far my only. I love this band with all my heart and soul!!
Edit after the commentary at the end: I for one am glad you didn't stop the video and chose to show the emotion and continue and carry on. I've never been able to figure out how to describe how Dream Theater makes me feel, but i'm glad i'm not the only one, and seeing it happen to someone else, even though I don't know you guys personally and even on this platform am new to your videos, was fairly emotional for me. thank you for this.

After the sixth time listening to this piece, I finally managed to understand and love it. Maybe we should be as patient with our relationships as we are with music. Just give a song a second chance, and a third... As give it to people. Thank you, DT!

That tour was the last time I saw them perform, this song played live was quite an experience. Man I need some live rock right now! That bass when the band re-enters after that beautiful orchestra really gets me going

Had to watch this reaction a SECOND time. So real. You might think that certain emotions are brought out by a song not to resurface, but if you forget and return to that song after some time, still there!

Had the same reaction hearing the midsection with the violins and the last section the lyrics hit me like a ton of rocks, it was me James was talking to, it was so true , i think a lot of people can relate to these lyrics, i really cried after a long time, could not hold it back anymore , DT has the power to do this .
Everytime i listen to this i cry , it’s very emotional, you couldn’t have said it any better Kel .

I woke up this morning to see this reaction and it was a crazy coincidence because I was listening to this last night and that final verse that James Labrie sang hit me hard as well and I felt so uplifted because it's helped me to realise that we need the struggles to appreciate the good times. I enjoyed that! Thankyou Kel and Rich. I've got a request please #painintheask Steven Wilson - Perfect life

Great reaction guys! The 42-minute Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence opus you should definitely react to. The live Score version is sublime. I know you can't react to videos but you might be able to track down an audio only version. Warning - you might both need a box of tissues for this one! It's a real emotional rollercoaster!
