That's a great idea, I might have to go back and change my will. I'm all OK with the idea, not a totally religious person, but open to the idea of one's spirit carrying on after death. That song is totally amazing, I love the lyrics and the thought.

Some people don't know the end:
"As Victoria begins to reconcile with Julian again, Edward confronts the two of them, murders them, then stages the scene and assumes the role of the witness for the newspaper column. The flashback includes Edward telling Victoria to "open [her] eyes" before killing her, echoing the same choice of words the hypnotherapist used to wake Nicholas from his hypnotic trance. ("Finally Free") In the present, Nicholas arrives home, followed by the Hypnotherapist. Nicholas is startled by another request to "open [his] eyes", before the album cuts to (and concludes on) phonographic static.
The band confirmed on the Scenes from New York live DVD that the hypnotherapist is Edward's reincarnation, and has killed Nicholas to complete the cycle yet again. "

@@rhuanmarafon546 some other fun facts: that small solo in the background of "The Dance of Eternity" (the one at the very beginning of the song) is the Solo from "Metropolis Pt.1" on the "Images and Words" album...and on that song the last words sung are "The Dance of Eternity", so they basically connecct to each other (which makes sense bc the album TDoE is on is called "Metropolis Pt.2" )....and another fun fact: That static at the end of the album is the same static used in their next album (Six Degrees of inner Turbulence) on the first track at the beginning, so they connect aswell...and SDoiT is basically one whole song bc THEY ALL connect xD now THAT blows my brain totally haha oh yeah and "The Dance of Eternity" and "One Last Time" connect as you may have heard

Making yourselves this vulnerable is endearing like you wouldn't believe. Metal, in general, is a family. We identify one another, and with one another, and the music speaks to us all in various ways unique to our unique experiences. Something like this, however, allowing us to be "voyeurs", if you will, reminds me of the spirit of the NT passage that reads, "weep with those who weep; and rejoice with those who rejoice." You just became family, as impersonal and hokey as that may sound over thousands of miles and an internet connection. Peace and joy to both of you in great abundance.

I was always into DT my favorite band. But I never went through their older stuff. I caught onto them when systematic chaos came out and I only listened to the albums after that and a few older popular ones. I always heard people talking about this album and I thought the concept was a great idea. So i took a drive one Sunday morning down the river front, cruising, enjoying the views and put this album on full volume. I had to stop my car because I was jamming and I got teary eyed as well for scene 7 and 8. Its beyond this world what this music does to your thoughts and emotions. The entire band can break your neck from brutal metal, but then make you tuck your tail between your legs and cry. Truly amazing.
I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss, I'm glad though you're staying strong.
Please. React to Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.

I know you guys made this awhile back. I been a Dream Theater fan since the beginning. I remember being a kid going to therir concerts on Long Island. As a kid I never felt that I fit in very well. More awkwardly then most, but I always found whenever I went to their shows and met other people with the same music passion I knew that I was different and evreyone around me was the same...if that makes any sense. Its good to see others out there that feel the same and understand what music can do and how you feel. I think as we get older most of us forget. Hell I did and the result are exsuating. Sometimes slowing down throwing on some head phones is all I need.
I enjoyed watching the both of you. because I see you both and then I realize again ...uh I'm not alone. Wish nothing but the best for the both of you!

Love seeing the raw emotion of you two listening to my favorite band. I shed a tear right along with you Kel. It brings back memories from when this was released. An owner of a local record store knew i was into Dream Theater since Images and Words was released. He called me up about a week before release date for it, letting me know he had it in and was willing to let me have it early. Couldn't stop listening to it. Then it was time for the live DVD to be released. I was working graveyard at the time. Day of release i had off, so i was up all night waiting for the store to open. I was playing online with some friends when one of them commented that the twin towers had been hit. Release day for the DVD was 9/11. I still have the unopened CD version of the live performance with original cover. Thank you, its a pleasure to see such passion for the music I'm just as passionate about.

The music and the uplifting message in this music can be healing. I believe music is so much more than something playing in the background. It can help us face pain, share the beauty of love and heal a broken heart. I listened to The Best of Times a lot after my Father passed away. I had wanted to write something for him but just could never get the words right. When I heard this song it was like it had been written for me. I used it to face the pain and yet remember the wonderful times and that he is with me everyday. The Spirit carries on does a lot of the same for me reminding me of my faith and that I will be with loved ones again someday. To me it is the true meaning of music at it purest. To enhance our lives, to teach, to express, and yes also to celebrate and dance. Wonderful reaction. My heart was breaking for you several times throughout because I knew what was coming and I have been a member for quite some time and knew what you were facing. Thank you for being so open and brave and hanging in there in this roller coaster of emotion. Truly one of the greatest concept albums of all time!

Your reactions are so genuine and honest, it's refreshing to see such honest and open reaction to progressive rock. You are very brave for laying your emotions on the line for all to see. It's something I personally just cannot do,even if I am with just one person.I play my cards close to my chest. In a sense I admire you for that.I am sure you deal with your feelings better than I ever will.It actually made me cringe and I had to look away for a while because it is so personal and I could see you hurting so much.....you are indeed privileged to have partner who very obviously loves you passionately and is there to support you emotionally.....Many songs touch me deeply on a level that nothing else will but I deal with it on my own and it is very hard sometimes......

I love you genuine reaction. If you are ready for the ultimate tear jerker you have to listen to either one of these three songs by Steven Wilson with video if possible:
    - Drive Home
    - The Raven That Refused to Sing
    - Routine

You guys are phenomenal... this particular song is very emotional, and Kel doesn't hold back. I admire her for continuing to react honestly and not holding her emotions back. After all, that's what music is about, expression of emotion, and this is healthy music for our times, not cop-killing rap crap. I love you guys, and watch some reactions repeatedly, because it resonates in my soul. Keep up the GREAT work, you help keep our souls alive!

Thank you for doing this whole album. One of my top 10 albums of all time ever. It's been a long time since I've listened to it and to listen again all the way through with both of you and your reaction because of your loss. This is what music is about, an outlet for emotions, to experience the passion of the human experience. I think you'd really like Fates Warning - Still Remains. Brilliant song the guitarist wrote about his father. The lyrics are brilliant and poignant, the music is amazing. Also check out the band Redemption - Black and White World. Same singer that is with Fates Warning, amazing song.

Knowing what you guys have been through, I think this is the perfect song for you; and I truly hope you can find comfort when you hear this 🙏💔

  • @Killjoy3189

I haven't been subscribed to you that long maybe a week. But I could tell during lunch, "Through Her Eyes" and "The Spirit Carries On", that you two lost someone very close to you. I can't say anything that somebody hasn't already said. And it doesn't make it any easier or bring anyone back. But just know, you're in my prayers if you accept it or not (not sure what your beliefs are) but regardless, nobody should have to go through losing someone, even though we all have to go sometime. But I hope and pray you two find closure with whatever troubles and weighs on your warm hearts. Much love from the STL.

I watched all the way to the end and found what's troubling you. I'm so sorry about your son. I can't even imagine what you're going through to lose a son. But I still cry for my father sometimes and he passed in 2012. It's ok to have "bad days" about that. Nobody is going to judge for feeling for your son and wishing things was different. Every fathers day, is terrible for me, but like you said, we still have to go on. And you will. I know it and I believe it. May God bless you and your family and keep you guys close together.

I wonder do Kel & Rich know what happened in that ending?
When I got this album in 1999, I was blown away by what I was hearing. I couldn't believe the story being told, and I haven't heard of something like this since Mindcrime.
