- 350 straight piped into flowmasters 305 open Y pipe no cats....Excuse us, we were both pretty young, and just giving inot wrenching
Video doesn't do justice both are pretty loud - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
straight pipe means no cat or muffler you cant just say "oh yeah its straight piped into a muffler" thats like saying "oh ya i won the handicap Olympics, with steroids"
colten fike no it's like saying I'm running straight pipe (no cats, no h or x pipe) into a muffler made sense to me years ago. Makes sense now
that doesnt make sense, its not straight piped. you say it has no cats but has a muffler
colten fike I say what I like sorry it ain't up to the handicap Olympics but oh well it's said and done
I dont mean to be that guy but isnt taking the cat's off your exaust system illegal?
Lmao I think he meant his pipes were literally straight 🤣🤣
Like the startup and idle of the 350 but the throttle of the 305
Joel Siciliano yeah but when it comes to power 305 falls flat on its face lol
cammed 305 will hold its own vs stock 350. better gas mileage. cheap motors, best for 4x4 daily drivers.
Never thought id say this, but I like the 305 better
The 350 is a deeper rumble in person, but 305 sounds great
305 has a beer pitch to it
I got a 305 with flowmaster and plp turn around to see what's coming it's pretty beefy
I got a 95 305 no cats with dual magnaflows and it sounds great it’s only obnoxious if you get into it, and I’m currently building a 89 350
The 350 in the video is raspy when revved. That’s where a custom exhaust comes in handy. We’re also comparing apples to oranges with a true straight piped (minus Y pipe) 305 to a 350 with questionable mufflers. My 350 is straight piped minus the suitcase muffler and cut off about 6-8” after that courtesy of the previous owner, and it’s nowhere near that raspy
I like the 305 better
My 1982 Chevy C10 has a rebuilt 305 in it and it sounds like a demolition derby car. I can't get enough of that heavenly sound of my 305.
Brian Dunnavant hey hey lol my 82 Chevy has a 305 in it too lmao
350 for the win
Vinny Vandetti yeah that 350 sounds like a beast..
I love the sound of my 305 in my 88. But I still want that 350
both are great motors
Chris kiss, um yea any motor is a good motor if you know what your doing with it
@@mw3gamer23 other then a northstar 🤣
@@VintageSaws Haha, you got that right. Those Caddy's had the worst motors imaginable
@@chadlinnel5290 right. I'm so glad I got my 1991 caprice instead of the 1995 cadillac seville I was lookin at.
that 305 sounds good with that high idle
The 305 has a better rev but the truck has the better idle but they both sound good man.
That dual plane intake swap helps greatly on high end. Quick, Fast.
I just got my first car and its a 77 el camino and it has a 305 with corvette side pipes. id have to say that sounds better than the 350.
Lone Gamer niiice. do you still have it?
I picked up a 82 el camino. Is there a company that makes the corvette side pipes for the el camino? Or did you make them yourself.
That truck sounds like a blessing
Thank you.
That 305 sounds real nice
Those sound alot like flowmaster 44's love it!
love having a 350 straight piped it's like heaven . sounds better in the winter from my option
that truck sounds badass!
Thank you
Years ago, my IROC-Z with a 305 straight-piped itself on a back road. 😂 They do sound mean raw.
Excuse be sir but may I ask what size be bfgoodrich radial t/a white letter tires you have on your caprice?
That 350 sounds awesome I love that not e
350 sounds a little better but the 305 isn't bad.
How in the hell do you put a 4 barrel carb on a 2 barrel intake
That's what i was thinking haha
you don't xD
they do make adapters now
I once did the opposite, put a two barrel carb on a four barrel intake.
There’s an adapter for it
Awesome, I'd have them both
I bet they sound so much better in real life. I like the lumpy sound of the 350 but the 305 is still lush
Damn, nice vehicles man. Had some nice vintage classic muscle vehicles coming up in my more youthful years😎
Hard times, hard headed, inexperienced and impatient at times I got rid of most of them(56Chevy BelAir,73Cutlass, 74Coupe DeVille Cadillac, 68Impala, 83BuickElectra, 90BoxChevyCaprice, 86ChevySuburban, 96GMCYukon, 88PontiacParisien, Just sold my Olds 442 a few weeks ago. 4ever Holding the 95ChevySilverado, 01ChevyTahoe and Last but not least...

#DAMN ALL THE NEGATIVITY. KEEP ON PUSHIN
btw straight pipe means no cats or mufflers hence the name straight pipes from the headers to the back of the truck is nothing but pipe
wade mckenney straight pipe into flowmasters means straight pipe into flowmasters hence the into flowmasters part
that makes no sence
Mr5point You can't just make up your own terminology
@@eli72481 He probably doesn't have the rule book, so he doesn't know.
Any suspension mods to the caprice I like the way it stands any suspension mods or is it just tires and if so what size
Austin Demeyere I believe it was stock..go check out Beanoman90 it's his Caprice. Sadly it's been wrecked since this video
The 305 has a nice rich baritone, like Jim Morrison, Tom Waits, maybe a little Sinatra. And when this car speaks, it swears like a goddamned sailor.
And over HERE we have Jimi Hendrix chopping down a mountain with the edge of his hand. When you are being pulled on a cart to the gallows and everybody in the basketball stadium is on their feet howling for your death- that sound. The 350 is a fucking Drama Queen. Is she high maintenance?
All small block Chevy engines sound the exact same when there stock. When you modify the internals the sound changes.
And on the truck what size are the tires on them as well
I believe they where 15's and maybe 9-10 wide.
then why did they stop making them?
They both sound good I have a 350 in my 86 monte carlo ss an trying to make mine sound like this
Thank you. This truck ended up with hooker long tubes, no mid pipe, 10 series flowmasters. Sounded great
@@WiLdMan1225 any upgrades to the 350 to make it sound like that
@@Mr.Frost181 it was just a fresh rebuild with a small cam and Holley 600.
@@WiLdMan1225 oh ok
super 44's on the 305 will sound good to
305 Just sounds like it needs a muffler, but revs nice. I think the rumble is ok, but the idle on the 350 lobes better.
Does cutting out the cats actually give it some noise or a better sound?
Deleting catalytic converters will increase volume substantially! IMO, to get a better sound when you delete the cats, you need mufflers. Flowmasters, Magnaflows and Glasspacks sound the best on old school engines like the 305 and 350 in this video.
truck took my vote :)
skulledmonte84 thanks man
I know you said u don't know the what series flowmasters but is there anyway u can find our maybe I would love to know so I can put them on my truck thanks
dmay950 I'm thinking maybe 40 series?
dmay950 man get some 10 series you won't regret it
I have a 85 monte carlo ss all stock with the 305 in it, changing the intake over to edelbrock performance and Iam looking for the sound that you are getting out of your 305 any pointers thanks.
Steven Parkman beanoman90 has the 305, it's all stock. I believe at the time he had manifolds, y pipe, and a foot or so of pipe. No cats, no mufflers
Man from your headers run straight pipe to two flowmaster 10 series it'll sound amazing and you'll have back pressure for your motor, don't straight pipe your exhaust
350🔥
305 sounded more aggressive
Fair enough. It only had like 3ft of exhaust
wooo eee listen to that 160 hp,lol
290-300 goodwrench crate with 4 barrel Holley, straight piped.
My old junkyard 305 made 185hp too bad the monte carlo it was in weighed the same as a small house and cornered like a aircraft carrier
Heck yeah!!! All American V8
The reason 305 sounds better is because Flowmasters sound like a tin can. If it was an actual straight pipe 350 it would probably sound a whole lot better.
They both sound good but the is louder
Sounds like the 350 has a mild street cam.
to my surprise i like the 305 better ...... but the 350 has a nice idle, idk they are both good
How can it be vs when its not the same set it.
C10 is 350 no mid pipe and dual flowmasters and Caprice is 305 with open y pipe
2nd time i have herd a 4bl on a 2bl intake lol
The 350 sounds like it was holding sound in the there like a fat lady choking on a duck bone
The problem with this video and similar videos is although the intention/purpose is good, this is an apples to oranges comparison. The exhaust setups have to be the same, the intake and carbs should both be 4 barrels as well. Otherwise, the comparison is not accurate by any means.
Cheers
The only real difference between the two set ups besides the obvious 350 and 305. The 350 had a small cam upgrade and dual exhaust. The 305 was stock and had a y pipe. Both had same carb, both were 4 barrel (my buddy misspoke) we we alot younger and both were learning. We just wanted to show off what we had at a young age and we won't sponsored by our parents either.
Hahaha Pontiac Power only to past to Outworld of outstanding !!
Flow máster series 40
I hate Flowmeter. Everyone had one of those stupid muffers back the late 1990's early 2000's. Didn't matter what car it was. Anyways the 305CID 5.0L sounds better. But, my dad's 1979 F-100 351CID 5.8 Cleveland. Sounds better than most cars out there today.
305 sounds better to me
When your drunk and try to sound like you know cars.
Ooooorrrrrr when you're teenagers trying to learn hot rods 8 years ago.
no replacement for displacement baby! 350 ftw
Four-barrel carburetor with a two a barrel intake? Lol
305 sounds better but 350 will smoke that 305 obviously so I’d take the 350
Id put my 305 up against that 350 anyday
Same
My 305 has dusted my friends 350
305 sounds throatier
Wanna sell the truck? Love 2 tone.
I sold it about 3-4 years ago to a older man in SC
@@WiLdMan1225 ok. Bet u miss it. 5 points? Hope that is not "Calvinist 5 points ", lol
@@mr.e1220 I do sometimes. Bought a 02 with 64k miles and been enjoying it since. No idea what u mean Calvinist 5 points. I had a 5.0 Mustang that started that. Then the 5.7 in the c10. Now the 5.3 in my 02.
@@WiLdMan1225 cool. Calvinism is an evil xtian doctrine...I have an 83 foxbody. 5.0 5speed, 4 eyed fox too. Cool
The truck sounds better, I have an 86 Silverado Shortbed
That’s what mine was. I’ve since sold it. Definitely miss that old square.
@@WiLdMan1225 Nice, I get asked if I’m selling mine ALL the time, and the crazy thing is it needs work done to it, I know I’m gonna get a bunch of offers once I fully restore it
How do u do a 4bbl on a two bbl intake?
Old video, we were pretty young and still learning. It definitely wasn't set up like that.
tell the guy with the c 10 to buy super 10s or nock outs ull love the results
Jose Ledesma I'm the c10 guy...check out my channel I ended up with 10 series. I'll hopefully put up another update here soon. Since my last video I've done Hooker LT's wheels and 373 gears with posi
2 doors 2 many on that impala
ferlan 9 it’s a caprice anywYs
It's not a straight pipe if it's got a muffler on it. Straight pipe means nothing but pipe no cats no mufflers
Bryant Lee straight pipe into flowmasters means straight pipe into flowmasters...there is no mid pipe
Mr5point didn't say there was a midpipe and considering the fact I've worked in a muffler shop I think I know what I'm talking about.
Bryant Lee I know u didn't say there was a mid I was telling u what said. Some reason u heard my truck was straight piped. I thought I'd help u understand that I said it was straight piped into mufflers...
Flowmasters sound like crap when you rev there’s no engine tone just a hollow tin can sound
I got a near stock amc 390 that destroys them both.
Ya and a chipped deleted straight piped LBZ duramax that'll eat your crappy 390 in sound performance mpg and utility 😛
305 sounds better
My 84 chevy 350 sounds better than both mines cmed and headed
350 won that comparison
350ci
305 and 350 would sound identical with the same exhaust. Same stroke and same cam duration. It only sounds different because you got 2 totally different setups. Also, a straight pipe exhaust into mufflers doesn't exist. Its either straight pipe or it isnt.
Ehhh ok...and technically it was straight piped into a muffler
