Flowmaster Super 44's vs Super 10's

- I tried my best to get multiple sound angles in order to present the best comparison between the Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers and the Flowmaster Super 10 mufflers. I must say, I do like the 10's better. They really aren't much louder than the 44's, and they have a much better tone. The "tinny" sound that Flowmasters are known for is nearly non-existent.
The sound comes from an old, original, low-compression 1st generation 350 ci small block Chevy, through Hooker Competition full-length headers, through 2 1/2" piping, through an H-pipe, through the mufflers, and finally dumping out from a pair of turn-downs.
Just wanted to say thanks for taking all that time to show all the aspects of the 2 different mufflers. It will really help when choosing for my wife's street strip car.
I have the super series 44 on my 1999 Tahoe. Had 40series even magnaflow. I'm going to put the 10 on tomorrow hopefully you see this and respond. Look@my videos haven't put one of the 40series yet.

Thanks for showing the difference, and so much of it, that a great wide range of exhaust, who needs a radio that's a great sound system! i have dual exhaust with H pipe and super 44s on my 79 coupe deville 7.0, i just bought a 73 eldorado 8.2 with dual/H pipe stock mufflers, after your video it's getting super 10s.

I'd have to agree with you on the sound of the 10's. Nice to see a '74 still around. I like the '74 because it carried over the back window and C-pillar from the earlier second gen Camaro. It's a unique one year only car.
Austin Powers Glad to see some appreciation for it. I think the same, and it’s the only Camaro to be nearly unique besides the ‘69, which I always thought was cool.

Most people don’t realize that both super 44 and 10 use the Delta Flow technology which actually quiets them down. The ORIGINAL 40 is the only flowmaster without the extra delta flow baffling. Regardless of what flowmaster says the original 40 is just as loud outside the car and MUCH louder inside. They maintain that original hollow snarly sound that made flowmaster famous. Delta flow changed the tone and reduced the growl inside the interior. Anyone who likes to hear their flowmaster growling while cruising has to buy the original because 44s with delta flow are quiet on the road
Unless you have them on a 600hp 468chevy with race 4in to 1 headers and dual 3" exhaust dumped at the diff. super 44in that set up sound super loud and very deep.actually made my ears ring after 40mins+ of highway driving lol.but I love it.

TheMrJones1994 Yeah, it’s a very distinct sound. Black Widows seem to do it, too. The Super 10’a aren’t as noticeable, though.

I have the super 10s on my 300 and get a lot of compliments on the sound.
Is it loud ? I mean like to loud I daily drive a 68 Firebird 350 engine, and mostly drive at night as well. Was thinking maybe super 44 instead of the 10s. I was looking for a nice rumbling sound that popping sound.
Super 10’s are dope... but that super 44 got that deep growl and sounds mean.

Those far shots recording the 10's give a muffler note almost reminiscent to the original dub used in Bullitt.

So which is actually louder they claim the 44s are supposed to be louder than the 10s but I figured it would have been the other way around
I couldn't tell much of a difference when he actually got on it.But the only problem is is you can tell that the camaro had a stick shift versus an automatic

Love the wheel and tire sizes on this Camaro ,I have a 1975 Camaro . What sizes are you running on the tires and wheels , that car sounds dam nice , are you running a 350 engine? Jerry They have a second generation Camaro club called NastyZ28
Both sound great, but the 10's are a little beefier. You might want to check that rear wheel. Looks like it's hit a curb or two.
I love the flowmaster sound but I'd rather take the super 10 series because I used to own a 1999 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.2l (318) and I put true dual flowmaster super 10 series exhaust under that truck and I loved it !!!! 😁😁😁😁
Super 10's really are much louder than 44's, especially when you have true duals. The 10's give near open header experience. You should measure it using a decibel meter and you'll know what I mean... Tests prove that even at idle engine speeds the 10 are about 8 decibels louder and that's quite alot on the A-scale..
The 10's do sound nice and aggressive though! But personally, I cannot endure this much violence in a daily driven vehicle ;-)
Well I was on the fence between 44s and 10s and 10s is the go.
I got 44s on my 06 charger rt about to get them bad boys taken off tomorrow and put the 10s back on
44s sounded way better more throaty and you heard it coming a mile away. Allot depends on the pipe size and header's you use too. Let's be honest this would have sounded better with true duel headers and into 2 n a half inch pipe to short thrush glass packs and out. I had these on my truck hated it and went with the set up right there that I said and it's 100% better and has that rumble.

Jeremythevirus Huang I wouldn’t hesitate to take the 10’s over the 44’s. The 10’s sound better in every way, and really aren’t THAT much louder, as Flowmaster advertises them to be.

Doug Coleburn I would say the 10’s, 40’s, then 44’s, in that order. I would also say that if you want something as loud as the 40’s, just get the 10’s. They’re not much louder and sound far better. Most loud mufflers are going to drone, anyway, so don’t worry about it too much. All V8’s are going to drone at constant low RPM’s, like you’d experience on the highway; the loud mufflers just accentuate it more.

Doug Coleburn I’ve got dual 10’s now, and really like them. I’ll be putting either a 383 or a 400 in it, soon, so I may change out mufflers then when I go to a 3” exhaust.
The manual gearbox is what sounds the best.

the 44s sounded good but the 10s didn't sound like they where broken in yet.
is that what it was. I had a pair of super 10s on a 350 of mine and it didn't sound as raspy as these ones did. its was much deeper and louder. at idle and wide open

Hey are they loud like let’s say your at a drive threw or driving in a neighborhood at night. Are they too loud ? I have a 68 Firebird 350 and I can’t decide what to get. I love the throaty chopper sound, wanted 10s but saw a couple videos where they sounded hella loud like horrible loud. Was deciding on 40 series supper 44
@@abes9981 the 44s are just "mild loud" or "comfortable loud" was wanting obnoxious loud like the 10's. I have the 44's on a 355 sbc. If that helps. Good luck!

A Cook I meant how they started to increase there intake of air once you increased the opening of you throttle.. and when you shifted and how it sounded. I'll admit I know barely anything about American engines (I prefer foreign) but I'll assume it has something to do with the cams, timing and intake and exhaust valves, as well as you might have a Gibson or black widow exhaust (or the type).

One in one out offset, it's not as loud as I expected so I'm definitely putting the x pipe, but it still sounds real good

Wow excellent excellent comparison video. I really enjoyed it. They both sound great can't go wrong with either one. Do you have any pics of your h pipe location? I'm having a hard time figuring out where to place it. Does the length between the h effect the sound? Does it need to be close to the collectors? Thanks
The H pipe sits about 1.5' after the collectors. Although I've read all sorts of information about the H-pipe and how it helps, it's not all that noticeable. I'd definitely go with an X-pipe if I were to do it over again.
+dejuan71 Yes, the crossover part of the H, itself, is nearly 1' across, so maybe a narrower piece would be better. It did help with the popping.

Came here to show a relative the difference between series 10 mufflers and the 44 series he wanted to get ? And I must say I gotta look for another video because at the end of the day the mufflers are an extension of the engine itself and this guy apparently has a very very weak non performance 350 or 305 that simply cannot make use of the extra flow. very weak. almost like doing a before and after on a honda civic ?
You took the time to write a lengthy comment, but couldn’t read the description of the video that it’s an old, low-compression 350? I think the car sounds like shit with either muffler, honestly.
@@74camarolt Nope did not read the description and yeah neither one sounds good but not the fault of the mufflers. too many people watch u tube videos to pick out exhaust mufflers and x pipes and do not take everything into account. if you are watching a video of a guy with X exhaust system and it sounds awesome. it will not sound the same on your stock or nearly stock engine as it does on his 30 thousand dollar race engine, best to look for videos with the exact same engine with mods. you got low compression stock 350 ? put on a set of 416 305 heads and go from 8.5 to 1 compression to 10.5 - 11 they used to be everywhere now you can get them easily because everyone wants ls engines. port them and they will out perform double hump castings of old . circle track guys used to luv them
What's noticeable is he's shifting at lower rpm with the Super 10's and he's doing it consistently. Is it the different feel with the power band? Is it the sound?
Kevin G Some of my autocross videos have better audio on the Super 10 throughout the RPM-band, if you’d like to check them out. Also, this is the original engine, so it’s not very powerful and has low compression, leading to it not sounding all that aggressive.

It’s got headers, but no cats. At the time of this video, it had a crude h-pipe, and now has an X-pipe in order to lower the sound decibels within SCCA limits.

sd also here. I was wondering if there's any resonator ? I believe the super 10 is as close to as a muffler delete correct ? I have a delete for my 2.0L but would like to tone it down a little bit...would u recommend the original 40 series or 40 delta flow series ?
Sorry, man. Just seeing this now. I'm assuming your car is newer. I'd throw the 10 on your car and see how it sounds. It won't be as loud as it is on mine since you have a smaller diameter exhaust and catalytic converters. Should give it a deeper sound than just the muffler delete. You can always change it.

Super 44 for me. A much cleaner tone.
I agree, the 10's may be more aggressive and sound intense but that's only good at start up, cast shows and hanging with thu guys... the rest of the time it'll get old especially if you're trying to talk on the phone, enjoy music, long drives or even just coming home at night not wanting to wake the whole neighborhood. Like everything, it's about balance and trade-offs
@@dynamictorque2945 my friend Jared in my auto body collage course is a Mercury Capri nut (Basically a Fox body mustang) he bought a 84 Capri with a 351 Cleveland and a H piped super 10 turn down system. Its fun for the first few minutes but, like you said, it gets annoying.
