Kent has such a nice voice! Who knew?
As a professional singer/pianist for over 30 years, this is the best video on playing and singing on the net. Superb logic. I wish there was a video like this when I was trying to figure it all out on my own in my early 20s. No one taught you how to do this in Australia. Anyway, the key to making it all work is to think like you're a pianist accompanying another singer but that singer is yourself - if that makes sense. Which is paraphrasing Kent, anyway.

Never in a million years would I suspect you could sing so well! I could hear hints of Frank in your vibrato. I have a horrible voice, but how I wish I could do this. Whenever I try, it's like trying to play with a third hand. Like everything else, it takes a lot of practice.

Sr. Kent enjoyed your singing and play along video. I like singing and playing though I don't do it correctly, I play the melody along and it doesn't sound good. Maybe you could do a few more videos on this topic. Maybe even some tutorials on singing and playing along different songs. You have a great repertoire.
Thanks for your videos enjoy many of them.

Merci beaucoup for this. I'm going to bookmark this since I'm still trying to learn my chops.
But this comes at an important point in my musical life after only starting at 65 yoa. And I was traumatized by music teachers all my life, especially with my voice. They told me to move my lips and not make a sound. Now? I have a pitch correction software that I'm using when there are no neighbors home and I'm getting around notes. Progress would be a nice word to use, but let's just say...baby steps. I have a patient who became a good friend who is a Professor at our Conservatory, and he said to just start singing.
BTW here is my video for anyone who wants to strengthen their low back as well as treat their shoulders, arms and hands.
