LESSON SUMMARY
In 1954, American jazz pianist and composer Erroll Garner wrote "Misty"-a timeless jazz ballad. To this day, it remains one of the most recognized and requested jazz standards. Misty both hands
That’s what I’m talking about Jonny, the left hand only for me as a singer, thanks a lot
Thanks (John Proulx) so much for this lesson . You have a very clear and easy style of teaching. There are so many essential tips and different techniques to learn. You were very thorough with good examples. I am looking forward to learning more songs and tips. Thank you again.
Very nice, You have cleared the timing confusion in my mind, bothering me for so long. Thanks. I mostly play my keyboard melodies by ear. Now I am confident that my timings will be right. Great job Sir.
That's fantastic, thank you for watching!
This is awesome! Thanks, John. This will be my first jazz standard on keyboard. Cheers!
Brilliant. Thx. I gave this tune up as i dealt it too ambitiously. I will restart with following each of these drills.
One of my favs and so is Erroll Garner. ❤️
Perfectly ordered priceless information for deep dive and self-learning. Thank you.
John Proulx plus smart sheet is an extraordinary combination. What an on-line education masterpiece. I hope to follow many more.
Great lesson. Very helpful. Thank you.
Thank you,John P. and Jonny.⭐🌹⭐🌹Great method for ingraining songs. Love it: very useful.
I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing Misty or Autumn Leaves again but this is a great lesson on lead sheets and how to get started with them. It was killing you to play this straight without any swing, wasn't it?
Why could u go the rest of your life without it?
@@user-rl3oc2zj3qBecause both of those standards are overplayed, like, big time. There are a lot of other jazz standards out there, first one to come in mind Is Nardis.
Good lesson. The result has the "jazz sound" of "Misty" but is playable by the non-professional student.
But I have a request: I would like to "Play Misty on Piano" without a backing track. I would prefer the piano lesson if it just used piano.
Great video, and it gives great perspective on the levels of playing piano. I have been taking lessons for 3 years and can play block chords and single note melodies from a lead sheet, and sound pretty much like the first level in this video. But the partial chords in the left hand are a new concept for me, and I'd really like to get to that level with practice. But when I hear pros play this, they are combining right and left hands so effortlessly that I wonder if I'll ever get to that level.
Hi Jon, your style of teaching is very clear. thank you so much. practicing this will be my first thing to do when I get back home.🙏
Awesome, thanks for watching!

"Misty" isn't a simple song but this lesson helps. Thanks!
Hi Johnny! Great video. What do you use for that drum accompaniment?
👍
"Can you play Misty for me on piano?:
_Sure: let me get the backing track._
Magic in 93: “I cast giant growth on my elf and attack for 4.” Magic in 2023: “Now my calendar has turned into a dinosaur, I will get it to jump in a cauldron, eat the soul of a dead faerie, then untap an infinite amount of times to make you lose 1000 life.”
I need at least $10 to play this song. Inflation.
