Lol like the Gorgon 👀 Xmaxx is real tough! Proved itself today for tomorrow's video. But I'm still an arrma guy as well. But still want an xrt. And 5th scale MT from Armma already.
Love them both although they are very different. Xmaxx is a good level non flip jumper but is sluggish on rotational capability so I get bored quicker with it. The arrmas, especially the 6s outcast and Kraton, are usually my go to ramp jumpers as they can rotate so fast being able to do 2-3 backflips in under 15 feet. Kraton 8s is a blast, especially with the xlx2 and 2028 castle system but don’t really jump it as it will get expensive lol. Great to see others that appreciate all brands and don’t play favorites :)
Awesome, yeah the whole this or that mentality is no good. Not sure why it even exists in the hobby. Competitors is much needed and always a win. I used to have a k6 years ago. Was my first rc to get back in the hobby since a teen and man I just remember my jaw hitting the ground. Made my wife come out and witness it lol. You have any experience with 4s lineup. Always had my eye on the outcast 4s. Seems like it would be the sweet spot rc.
Yep so true, competition breeds innovation and lower prices which is a win for the consumer. I had a O4s back in the day, was very fun and nimble. Could flip for days. The v1’s had issues with the shocks leaking and drivetrain but I believe those have been addressed in the v2’s. Was fun but with the O6s, was kind of redundant and didn’t drive it as much. Kind of when u said the feel of the weight between the xmaxx and K8s, it was similar in the 6-4s models, just more satisfying jumping the 6s’s as I believe they are the perfect balance of weight to power ratio imo.
Great video. We have the 6s Arrma Kraton and Notorious (and typhon and Infraction but those are different animals) and the x-maxx. We've been eyeing the 8s Kraton, so this was a great comparison. My thinking is why buy the 8s Outcast if we already have the X-maxx. We like some variety in life! Now if only they weren't so expensive!
Xmaxx for skate parks and insane durability out of the box. For super long jumps and landing in dirt/grass, K8S. I have both. They Xmaxx is easier and cheaper to upgrade and keep running IMHO. Thanks for the video. For track driving, the K8S should be better
I personally found 46/20t really woke my x-maxx up and gave it explosive exceleration and anything geared slower I didn't think it had enough top speed
Nice video! Nice place ya got to play at too! I have both trucks as well. Just got the K8S a couple months ago, haven't run it much yet. It's a V1 RTR, I put the Firma 1100kv motor in it, 26/47 gearing. Runs pretty good. The Xmaxx I've had for over 2 years. Night and day differences between them though for sure. The Arrma hugs the ground, the Xmaxx floats loosely on top of it by comparison.. I've put a Max 6 esc with 20/50 gearing and 8s Backflips on the Xmaxx with +10mm hubs.. If I could only choose one, I think it would be an XRT. Handles like an Arrma, but much lighter so doesn't need a megawatt system to go fast. Cheers bro! 🍻Sub'd.
I think a better comparison would be the Outcast vs Xmaxx as they're more similar. I own both the Kraton and the Xmaxx and they so different it's pointless to compare. I started with Traxxas trucks but over the years I've grown to like Arrma better even if they tend to be more expensive to fix/upgrade. Kraton for jumps and handles , Xmaxx for flips and bashing durability.
Unfortunately I can only compare what I own. But still not pointless man haha and I agree with ya on Armma. When I was younger I only owned traxxas. Now I definitely gravitate towards Armma even tho cost of ownership is more expensive if your really using them. I would own an outcast if they still had a roller. I don't want the RTR version. Rather build it out how I want it. To each their own.
@@SketchRC- I would agree with you normally but at least the new electronics in the rtr are pretty good. Way better than traxxas stock electronics. Especially the new motor, you could keep the motor and swap esc with something else and sell the stock esc to make some money back. That new motor is what most people would have upgraded too anyway. Great video bro! 😎👍
Awesome and thanks! I never really thought about it that way. I'm on the fence for outcast or losi 5t lol. But I'm holding out in case arrma releases something wild before the holidays. So far back to back Fridays have been a new release. So seeing If something big might come...
I recently spent $1K on a new Kraton exb 8s and loved it for the three times I used it. Unfortunately a perfectly good battery exploded in it and the whole thing went up in smoke. A good portion of it was salvageable so the hobby shop is handling everything for me. Basically I was told Powerhobby would blame the Arrma Esc and Arrma would blame the battery. Real hassle and the issue is, the two 3s batteries I had in there had been in perfect shape so I honestly think it was the Spektrum electronics. Oh well, in retrospect, given how durable my V2 Maxx has been I should have just bought an Xmaxx which has a system in it that has been around longer and is more proven. The Maxx has been near bullet proof so I would expect the Xmaxx to be the same.
4jf sorry bro, powerhobby lipo expensive trash. I'm not sayethats what caused your problem but they are overpriced garbage and you might as well be using cheap zee if you're going to use powerhobby. At least you save some coin.
i have to say, comparison at the begining was good, but you forgot to add price comparison... Kraton is much more expensive (as RTR). Anyway, good video
Not really an rc guy, but I saw both in person yesterday and I was blow away by the kraton build quality, while i was disappointed with the xmaxx, the ball joints and arms on the kraton were metal and crazy overbuilt, I don't think it was modified, there was quite a lot of slop in the xmaxx design
I know, I just bent this one back for now. It's like 300$$ lol I want it so bad but might go just bash it RC for price point. I'm still debating...have to pay to play lol
I opted for the xmaxx since xrt and kraton are very similar amd I already own the kraton. Someday I'll get an xrt. I'm not real sure man. I will say the traxxas's can take a beating and much lighter. The weight is good if your not doing full sends on the kraton. Mine with the 800kv is just something else compared to anything I own. But you can't get a roller anymore so not sure how the RTR version is. I would almost say since you have the X maxx to just go XRT. But all up to you and I have no experience with the XRT. Bash on bro!
I chose the xrt over the K8 and the Xmaxx as my first rc and i was planning on picking up a Xmaxx next month for my bday but this new kraton8 got me thinking real hard
My vid tomorrow might convince ya to get an xmaxx! Lol I'm hoping the gorgon is released to open the door for arrma to make a 5th scale monster truck to compete with xmaxx. Gorgon 4x4 8s! One can dream!

Nice! I don't regret it at all. Xmaxx is pretty amazing and a different experience from the kraton. Surprisingly it didn't flip over that much on stock tires! And I learned it's best to keep it stock as aftermarket more weight causes the toppling issue.
One thing that really helped my xmaxx in stability was throwing 80k shock oil in with full preload. Really helped with the body roll and cushioned out the landings. Also 20mil in the center diffs with some 200k in the front/rear really woke it up too
Yea thickening up the center in particular is a must for most rigs. Really ups the fun factor as they become more punchier so to say as the power stays in the rear wheels instead of bleeding to the fronts when they are off the ground (path of least resistance). They also perform much better in the air as all 4 tires spin more equal for quicker rotation and initiates the flip quicker as the power stays on the rear when exiting the ramp
Continued - It seems daunting at first but once u do it the first time, becomes easy and u really get to know the rig. You can always swap the fluids back if u don’t like it. The arrmas in particular are real easy to access the diffs for fluid changes, the xmaxx center requires almost a full disassembly but not to bad. Why does everyone with RC cars jump them super high and land them onto flat ground.. You want to jump and land downhill, like a motocross jump.. Such a terrible video mate, you take a upgraded (I know it was a roller, but you used that to use far superior parts) arma and compare to a stock Traxxas and don't even give the Traxxas a fair shake, I get this is more of how you feel video but at least try to do a good job.
Don't take things so serious bud, life's too short. Thanks for watching
I miss rc 😕
Well get back into it!
Arrma!
Arrma over traxxas all day long!
Watch how much it cost to fix the kraton over the xmaxx. Secondly, a fair comparison would have been kraton vs the xrt. Then you tell me who won. $Teel City Pittsburgh in dis bitch!!
Was a VS. Not a comparison. And I don't own a xrt. All in good fun!
Kraton for me
Heck yeah! Even though I just left the Skate Park with the xmaxx and I have to say it shines there.
Kraton exb 1/5 is the #1 basher. Traxxas is trash
😂😂😂😂😂
Xmaxx wins 🙂
They both win! But yes the Xmaxx is a Beast!
Xrt or Xmaxx that flimsy arrma aluminum chassis plate sucks
