What an elegant solution with minimum setup.........I just checked my Bios and I have the same power selections you do, so I'll be making my change later this week. You don't mention the PC monitor but I'm assuming that's controlled by the HDMI plug and will follow as needed. Nice job and Thank you. Austin Basso Dallas, Texas
Everything except my sound system is plugged into a powerstrip I have mounted under my desk and that is plugged into the smart outlet. My sound system is plugged into the other outlet plug so I can turn it off with my nap app so my PC doesn't beep when I take my 20 min afternoon power nap. : )
so i have a question. i did the same as you. but to turn off my pc i need to cut the power off everytime? i canot turn off the pc on the pc and after that turn of my smartsocket? i tried to turn off the pc normaly and them turn off the smart socket but after that, when i asked alexa to turn on my pc nothing hapens. probably because the pc doesnt recognize as a power cut off. but its not bad for a computer to be shut down everyday with a cut off?
I do not recommend using this feature to turn off your PC. In my Alexa Settings video, I mention I shut mine down at the end of the day and as part of my Good Night routine Alexa turns of the power to my socket so it is ready in the morning. If you wish to shutdown your PC with Alexa, you can use an app like Vicki.
It will not impact the HDD whether SATA or SSD since you always shut down windows which turns off your PC. This method is the same as unplugging your PC and plugging it back in while it is turned off. I will finish the video on how to have Alexa properly turn off your PC so you don't have to do it manually.
Here are the other 2 videos that might answer your questions. Alexa Settings: th-cam.com/video/DU1Up3hcLNg/w-d-xo.html. BIOS Settings: th-cam.com/video/hUvyWK7kESE/w-d-xo.html.

your face like tony stark dude XD...
Nit only way just get an switch bot
Yes that would work, but it required purchasing the bot and hub to control w/ Alexa. My solution requires no costly external hardware.
