    ⚠️ If you're having issues setting up Join and EventGhost, check out this updated video --> th-cam.com/video/jG8TN0YvRNY/w-d-xo.html
    In that video, I show step by step how to set up:
    - Join
    - The Join Chrome extension
    - EventGhost
    - The AutoRemote plugin for EventGhost
    - How to link Join to EventGhost
    - How to set up encryption
    There is also a written guide for that video. You can find it in that video description.

      I am inconsistently able to turn my computer on. It seems as though I can only do so if the app is open on my android phone... That really defeats the purpose of using my voice to start up my computer... Shutting it down however works without any flaws. Any ideas on how to get around the start up issue?

    • @ashoktvm

      These steps are not at all required now. Just need Hassio running in PI, wake on lan entry in configuration.yaml and RPC shutdown addon from addonstore.

    EDIT: I had to turn on Wake On Lan in BIOS.

  • @captaingabi
    @captaingabi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Attention: to get the Eventghost autoremote:pc_off message,, after installing the autoremote python plugin for eventghost, you set up a port number in it (default is 1818). Then you also need to set the same number in the join extension settings/advanced/EventGhost, Node-RED/port-number to redirect there. (For this particular pc_off message, you do not need to add any autoremote device in eventghost config)

    Great video, very clear and easy to follow explanation.
    Really quick setup (once worked out the missing AutoRemote piece of the puzzle)
    Question though... I find that the Wake on Lan app stops triggering after a while, unless I have the app open on my screen and THEN say the voice command. Any thoughts on how to solve this?
    I can see in the join logs that it sends the pc_on text
    and also the tasker log shows that join received pc_on, and the start task service appears followed by wake on Lan action but my computer doesn't turn on unless I have the Wake on lan app active and on my screen at the same time. Note: the logs appear the same regardless

      Which WOL app u have on mobile if its by Mike Webb then u shouldn't be having any problem also if u have set the Tasker profile for pc on correctly My suggestion would be first test the WOL app by mike webb to wake up ur pc if it does then del ur current profile for PCPower and recreate it as mentioned Lastly ur ifttt acc and join acc should be registered with same google assistant email account (this is my opinion for everything to work flawlessly) Create the Tasker profile exactly as Juan shows it

I can still turn it on using the WOL app, but I cannot using the Google Assistant/IFTTT/Join/Tasker process. After I start it up once manually or using the WOL App directly, I can then turn my computer on and off using the Google Assistant process all day long. As far as I can tell, Event Ghost autoremote plugin may not be working correctly but I'm not sure. I could use some help. It might be important to note that I am doing this all locally, I have not dived into port forwarding on my router to enable this for WAN and would rather not at this time. Any extra brain power is appreciated here. Thank you.

    or buy google assistant controlled switch and hook it to your pc turn on button. Done.

  • @Cinnamon_Shaey
    @Cinnamon_Shaey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also something you forgot to mention, some motherboards you have to enable WoL in bios and its different for every manufacturer, but if anyone has to do that, and you don't know what you are doing in bios, ONLY change values you are 100% certain on what does so you don't brick your device, some motherboard do have reset switches, or you could remove the CMOS battery for a bit, to reset if it goes wrong

  • @Cinnamon_Shaey

    could you do an updated tutorial for the new google assistant v2? its actually so dumb why they had to change it, and now this tutorial does not work

    • @Jento.
      @Jento. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, IFTTT reworked the trigger, now they work with scenes instead of simple phrases.
      Now if you want this tutorial to work you have the create two new applets using assistant v2 and activate IFTTT in the Google Home App. Then the triggers of the 2 new applets should be "computer" and "shutdown". So it will listen for "Hey Google, activate computer" or "Hey Google, activate shutdown". You can still change the phrases using custom routines in the Google Home app but not in IFTTT.

    • @Cinnamon_Shaey
      @Cinnamon_Shaey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jento. i am honestly still stuck I don't know what to put in the "message" part, it says activatedat activated at scenename and unless I put the right stuff it won't let me through, also have no idea how to integrate it with Google routines, i can't find any information out there unfortunately, so you seem to be my only hope if I want it to work again

    • @Jento.
      @Jento. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cinnamon_Shaey The only difference when creating the IFTTT applets is when you choose assistant just enter "computer". And for the other applet, enter "Shutdown". The rest of the tutorial stays the same. So basically you say to your Google "activate computer" or "activate shutdown".
      But for more advanced users, they can customize their phrases in a google home routine.

    • @Cinnamon_Shaey
      @Cinnamon_Shaey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jento. I got the computer to wake up, but can't get it to shut down, when I say activate shutdown it just starts "if you wanna deactivate the mic press the button on the back of the device"

    • @Cinnamon_Shaey
      @Cinnamon_Shaey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jento. oh heck yeah for some reason I did have to use routines, cause otherwise it would not let me, I just had to relink IFTTT to Google AFTER making the applets so I could choose them in the adjust scenes option, and then I could do activate pc and activate shutdown and have even changed them with the routine so I don't need to say activate, can just say hey Google start pc and hey Google shutdown pc
