  • I get a lot of questions about where we live. Hopefully this video will answer those questions and so much more of our vision for the property. #farmstay #vacationrental #shorttermrental #farmstories

    Love when you say ‘it is a choice.’ Absolutely right. When you make choice, you single-handedly go for it. And in the end you reap what you sow.

    That’s what Jason @coghillfamilyfarm has done, lived in a Fifth Wheel trailer, while building their home of their dreams for the future…they have 40 acres. Their previous home they built and was gorgeous but they only had 7 useable acres out of 15…not enough room to grow vegetables/fruit and add animals.

    I hope things ease up soon in Canada and the U.S. My husband and I would love to come stay at your farm stay. Our passports are up to date, but we are still concerned about COVID restrictions and unrest. We will vacation in the states most likely this year once again.

      Yeah us too we haven’t gone anywhere since the mandates. It’d be pretty cool if anyone watching our channel stated at the farm. Fun times ahead.

    Tractors are super expensive! I'm glad you and your wife took the leap to live this amazing life, in spite of its challenges.
    A couple of years ago I rented a cabin with my family and it had a fairly large bathroom, with a large panoramic window and a jacuzzi. You could sit in the tub and enjoy the spectacular view! The rest of the house was nothing special but we still remember that bathroom. I don't know how expensive an investment like that would be, but it might be something to consider if you're building more rentals. I think it makes the place very attractive.

      Haha yup, I hope they chill out a bit after nesting. Another issue is the 2 ganders are fighting over 1 female while the other female is left alone.

    Good video, sir. I've been researching the farm stay vacation idea also. I'm on 38 rural acres in the foothills of the Ozarks NE Arkansas. I had already planted some fruit trees before learning about permiculture. This year we'll add the supporting layers for them.
    Geese are aggressive. My mother told stories about how they were used to protect the watermelon fields in the Osceola, AR area in the early 60s. Mean little buggers! 🍉😱

      @HiddenSpringFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ozarks are beautiful, good tourism too right. We’re 5 mins from the ski hills. The rental is where we make most of the revenue on the farm. The geese used to just follow me around but this is their 1st breeding season and they’re getting a bit hot. I used “Inermis” honey locusts as nitrogen fixers cause they have no thorns. It’s just the start though I’ll be adding to it as we go. Appreciate you watching and commenting, thanks. Cheers, Chad.

    We’re in the same boat, but yours is stuck in an ice jam and ours is sinking in Spring rains…. We bought 45 acres in East Tennessee and we don’t live there either, well, not full time. We have a house we just built in Williamsburg, Va when we decided to upend our lives and become more resilient. I spend half my time in TN building infrastructure for the farm, while my wife finishes up her career at the end of this year. So, we won’t have any of the animals until 2023 and won’t be getting any cheeky geese after watching this. I’ll shoot Canada (sorry) Geese in the flyway for our meat. Like you, we have a renovated old (1860s) farmhouse on the property which we are thinking about renting when we build our retirement home starting either this year or next. In the meantime its focus on the food forest, apiary, pond, solar power generation, etc and you are right, it’s expensive getting back to the basics. We subscribed, and look forward to your journey. Cheers, Dan and Elle

      Thanks so much. Sounds like you folks have a solid plan. I like the apiary too, our orchard and gardens made need some pollinators so bees might be in our cards too. Those geese used to just follow me around but that’s what nesting season does…very protective. Hope they go back being chill geese. Good luck in your journey. Chad.
