We're building infrastructure to accomodate future growth such as barns, duck house, 7 coop chicken house, water hydrants, planting an orchard, building a garden etc. Chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, barn cats and two old english sheepdogs make up our team here at the farm. The barn cats really have personalities. All different, but they all love you Chad. So glad to see Bubbles feeling more at ease. She really has come a long way thanks to your perseverance and kindness.

Good morning Chad, I laughed so much when I saw Olive up as high as she could go on the wood pile. It reminded me of my dog when I called and called for her, walking and looking everywhere for her. Gave up, sat down, and there she was over on top of the fountain to the pond !🤣😂😆 Standing there looking at me.
Yes Olive is so wholesome. Molly couldn’t even get up there 😂

At 12:36 ... may I suggest that you try putting one of those empty bags in the pigs living quarters? They love to root in them while tearing them apart. If you put a treat in it they will have a blast trying to get it out. I've seen this done on another channel with their pet piggy. It will give your porkies lots of play time with a new toy!!! 😃💝🐽

I gave my ganders some sparring practice today. They like to wrestle and chew on me. Keeps them in shape and violent for fighting predators. Gave my rooster some practice as well. They spar with each other regularly as well. Garlic in the water is good for better eggs and disease prevention and to keep the water fresh longer.
Yes I’ve seen these two go at each other too. Never heard about the garlic thing, that’s interesting 🧐
Shredded coconut is good for the winter gives them some quick digesting calories and makes the meat taste better and helps with diseases. If you can get it in bulk, I got a 55 pound bag for 80 bucks organic shredded coconut. My chickens like salt water as well just some sea salt and water in a small water dispenser. @@HiddenSpringFarm

Chad regarding those two aggressive geese. No, you didn't make any mistake selecting them. It's always a gamble this bird or that bull or the other dog to be used for whatever purpose. No one knows for certain.
Then there's the other wisdom my dad shared with me. When Geese got too comfortable being aggressive towards their handlers. Time to prep them for the oven to plate to the dinner table. My dad's has had a few geese that just got too aggressive to have around. Those two geese you can easily wisely choose to replace them, as you have plenty other geese to choose from. And prep those two for oven to plate to the table.
Do what you know you need to do, Chad. You got this.

Love your vlog , especially the duck and geese content . Im from Newfoundland and hatched my first runner/khaki mix last spring . :) Also raised 2 Chinese goslings and plan to get 2 more geese .

I was mulching the snow covered leaves on my riding mower yesterday. Full sun too but -7c my face has a bit of wind burn 😬
Holding a shovel or big stick in your hands will help with some of the goose aggression. You don’t have to use it in any way other than maybe wave it in front of you sometimes.
Yes I use a snow shovel as my riot shield. These geese shouldn’t be this aggressive though, not sure if I wanna deal with that everyday.

I was a little worried about your cords on the waterers, are you not worried about the birds knocking them over hanging like that?
Also, I was recently watching a greenhouse video and they actually keep a fan going even in freezing months so the moisture can’t settle. Maybe something like that in the coup would work as well as putting Vaseline on their combs will keep them from getting bitten by frost.
Aww thanks for the kind words 😊I’ve done the Vaseline thing and actually found it has little effect. I tie up the cords as best I can but it’s not perfect, it’s works very well though. The birds never bite the cords or anything too. A greenhouse is probably more air tight than a coop though. Have you ever seen those open air coops? It’s incredible how resilient the birds are. Not too much moisture inside but sometimes snow gets in the run and get on their combs. It’s gonna get cold real soon too. I appreciate the comment.

Well we’re coming into winter so I’m close to clearing the old shop out. I’ll be able to spend some time with her over the winter to really make her love me. If I try her outside now and I can’t get her back she’ll freeze out there.
I have a similar situation with my goose! He lives with my two drakes, everything was fine till it wasn't. He loves me, has never attacked me. But anything else he bloodhounds after, even went after one of his drakes the other day! And he hates my rooster. Not sure what to do! It might be Christmas goose this year!
Sounds like a nice dinner to me too. I actually hatched the geese with some ducks and chickens trying to train them to be good guards. I guess I should’ve bonded with them too. The good thing is we can always hatch more 🪿

I’d love to know: do you work a 9-5 or make all your money from the farm? If you work a job how do you have time to do all of this?
Oh the farm doesn’t bring in anywhere near enough, we both work for a living. Really though, it’s filming, building whenever I can. Long days, editing videos until midnight…I never have a day off either. I have the feeding chores down to about 30 mins too whenever I’m not filming. I always say if you enjoy what you do it’s not work 😂
Are you going to give away the geese if they continue to agress?
I’m not sure I wanna deal with them on the daily the way they are. Might be a Christmas goose.

Yup it’s called a hen saddle, it protects the hens feathers from the rooster. She might be his favourite 😉
