We're transforming this 90 acre property into a self reliant homestead and farm stay vacation rental. We're building infrastructure to accomodate future growth such as barns, duck house, 7 coop chicken house, water hydrants, planting an orchard, building a garden etc. Chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, barn cats and two old english sheepdogs make up our team here at the farm. Please follow along on our journey of transforming this place into something special.
How precious calling your wife , your darling.!
.!❤
The garden is a real joy to behold with all the hard work you two have done. The esthetics of the flowering and new landscaping are so special considering all the other work there is to be done. It looks more like a beautiful park than any other homesteads I have seen on TH-cam! Your critters are so lucky to have you. Also; Atta girl Bubbles! Hugs to you and your beautiful wife😁
Thnx for your support as always. Inch by inch I’m making Bubbles tamer, the other cats aren’t treating her too bad either…no big cat fights.
The flowers are gorgeous!!
For some reason I hardly had any beetles. I have been spraying everything with peppermint oil spray.
Another Awesome Video! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your farmhouse is beautiful! The little piglets are so cute! Be careful of the dogs and cats around the hostas, they can be poisonous.
Thanks so much for the comment, will be careful 😉
It’s a lot to take care of but you can do it. Bubbles is doing great.
Yeah I do it, just like to keep things real once in a while and yes Bubbles is coming along.
bubbles is so cute
I really enjoyed this video:) Thank you for showing the not-so-perfect parts of what you and your wife are creating and the challenges of projects and areas that get a bit out of control😁.
Aww thanks, gotta try to keep it real.
Love this show❤
You and your wife are doing a good job with the farm.
Aww thanks a million 👌
Thank you for sharing
Your doing a great job on the farm its just something you gotta constantly keep up with.
All in God's timing. Every thing will work out alright.
Gods blessings be upon your farm and your family.💜✨🥰
🙏☺️
What a nice farm you have there and the furry friends are so cute❤❤❤❤❤
You are so kind
SHEESH!!!! those meaties will be monsters by the time you harvest them 😱😱🤣🤣. Well done . Informative 👍👍👍. Thank you for sharing, be safe, 🇨🇦
They might 6 or 7 lb chickens 😂
Love you channel!!!
TH-cam recommended your channel! I love it!
Well that’s amazing, thanks 😊
Your videos could be twice as long and I’d still be watching ‘em!
Aww thanks for saying that, it means a lot ☺️
Morning Chad. I can see why you titled the video as it is. Not just the greenery, but the animals are growing wildly fast. 🐔🐔🐔🐷🐷🐷 They are keeping you busy. It's what you two signed up for and can see that you two are happy. Nice
Oh yeah it can be overwhelming at times mostly because of TH-cam. I’m not complaining what I mean is all the hours I spend filming and editing etc should be general maintenance on the farm. But alas, I’m trying to make a success out of this TH-cam thing so sometimes the lawn doesn’t get mowed on time 😂
@@HiddenSpringFarm the TH-cam will be successful in time. Just keep at it. You produce great videos.
GREAT WORKS CHAD
😃
You showed all the weeds, you know if you just let the pigs in a small area, THEY eat EVERYTHING! including bark and tree's if they are small enough. They clear out entire area without a problem (weeds and all) and you don't need to feed them a thing. Maybe try that but your doing great with the farm. Lots of work but great work!
You could save a lot of money on planting by just dividing the amazing flowers and plants you already have.
Yes that’s always a great way to multiply, all the lily & hosta we divided and transplanted to make more. Great minds think alike eh 😊
Build them their own catio with fans to pull out the dander and cat hair
Good morning hidden spring farm.Im a new subscriber and i must say i love watching your videos. Im happy for you and your family getting out of the city. YEPPY
Good morning and Merry Christmas, glad you’re enjoying 👌
Chad😊
Ihr schafft das❤😊
Ich freu mich jedes mal wenn ein neues Video da ist ❤
Right on!
Wow! 😍👍🏻
☺️
I absolutely enjoy your farm!! The little piggie pigs are my favorite!!🤗💛
Try a hand held rechargable vacuum. I know, that's just one more thing you have to buy.
Have you set up a gofund me acct? Seen a TH-cam of a chubby kid who didn't have friends make lots of money that could help buy a saw mill!!! 💡 I want to take my family there sometime but don't have vacation time yet but would love to make a small donation to your gofund me 🎉🎉🎉
Aww thanks, I don’t know if I’d ever do crowd funding. As the channel grows and more people watch all the ads I’ll make money faster but for now my focus is making good content ☺️
Love your farming techniques!!! You animals are well cared for, Even if they don’t know that you’re taking great care of them.
Aww thanks so much ✌️
The little piggies are turning into little pokers for sure, they're growing so big. Like everything in the summer everything is growing.
I'm doing corn in black grow bags 2nd year, hopefully earwigs don't get the silks like last year.
I do water irrigation on timers, set in zones watering for 10 minutes at 10 minute intervals. Whole garden gets watered in 40 minutes.
Put the time in figuring it all out will save 100's of hour manually watering / season. Bring timers in over winter
Yeah I’ll be doing some kind of timer system but I’m not sold on sprinklers, maybe more like a soaker hose or drip system. Takes too much time watering manually.
Hey, Chad. Y’all have done so much work to make a great space. And Japanese beetles are no joke. We haven’t had to deal with them in central Oklahoma, but we did in Ohio. And friends in Indiana this year put out a trap and it filled up in 8 minutes! A second trap in 20 minutes and a third trap in another 30 minutes. Three traps full in an hour.
Keep up the great work!
Thank I John, always hustling. That’s crazy about those beetles, this is out third year dealing with them and they’re just as many every year. I’m going to try milky spore on the ground to kill the grubs.
Thats so funny, I just walked out my front door and placed my hand over our hydrangeas 😁 before tuning in ! Have you tried Diatomaceous Earth for pests ? I've thrown it directly on ant nests or mixed in water and sprayed on plants, works like a charm and its non toxic. I get the Food Grade shell flour. Just a thought. Have a great day 🌄 weather's great here in Illinois 🙂. Belly rubs for all the furbabies, the little piglets stole my heart ❤🐾❤🐾❤🐾❤🐾
Every year I’m amazed at how big and creamy the hydrangea heads are. I’ll have to try the DE cause I’ve tried this trap thing but doesn’t seem to help for two years now. It’s always the cherry trees that are the worst too, the beetles must love the taste.
A big thank you from me for the way you handle music attribution. It was so easy to find and listen to tracks that interested me. It's been far too rare to see that in You Tube channels. Shows you are a decent chap and it has earned you a new sub. Looking forward to seeing how you go with a sawmill in particular. I won't be buying one as I have zero need/space/budget and not a lot of health, but I do enjoy seeing how others use them and how creative they get with them. Take good care with it and you'll be fine. Be well.😉
That’s awesome bud thanks. I’ve got the sawmill narrowed down to two brands built right here in Ontario, Norwood and Woodland Mills. We have 15 acres of forest that needs regenerating and I do a lot of building so a sawmill seems like the next logical step.
@@HiddenSpringFarm I see you follow Simple Living Alaska. They have made themselves a lot of good luck with a sawmill through gaining experience and thoughtful planning, so I can only suggest seeing what they did and why. I know a concrete pad is a major pain, but it seems they called it about right and now we can see what a difference it made to how it works and how they can now use it. Good luck which ever way you decide on. Oh and protection from frost is really important from what I have been able to glean on TH-cam. Be well.😉
@@AncientHermit yeah just from watching other videos a pad is easier to level the mill and cleanup sawdust. BUT it’s also nice to earn over 6 figures from TH-cam. I’m not there yet but I’m tryin 😆 Mill first, then a shed type structure then in the future a pad. Im just so tired of buying lumber. I do enjoy simple living Alaska too, nice to emulate their channel growth. They just bought a huge Quonset shop too.
@@HiddenSpringFarm They just posted the end of the basic shell, and it sounded like so much work, but they dug deep and got it done in time to return a genie lift rental though. I'm an oddball, I stopped making content of any kind a while back, and now I'm just barely a year into retirement, so I am trying to be a stand up TH-cam viewer instead of what everyone else seems to want to do. I'm just looking for reliable content posed about the same time every week, not over long, with good audio. I'm not a fan of paid promotions, shorts or live, and that is because of laws here in the UK with the last two, in short it could cost me a hundred or more every year if I accidentally click on anything that is live or can be interpreted that way. I have to be so careful about what turns up in my subs feed because a pension is not that kind of budget. Reason I am telling you is that anyone who can do that gets a sub and I'll probably stay indefinitely. Yes it's steep, but I got to tell you I only ever sub to 7 channels max at any one time, you and SLA got that in common right now. I prune very often and Lumnah stayed (very regular), Dog Hill Petting Zoo was booted as it's clickbait most of the time these days. I've booted some with 1M plus subs for not playing fair. So, please take this news as sincere encouragement, which can be hard to come by on TH-cam I've noticed. Be well.😉
Piglets are so cute. Have the runts caught up in size? They all look pretty close when I try to see which are smaller. Congrats with Bubbles. She seems to be making the transition.
Yes it’s very hard to even see which one was the runt
I just saw something very interesting on Japanese beetles. If you plant geraniums around the affected areas The Beatles will eat the geraniums and it paralyzes them and leaves them as food for predators. You can also spray the trees down with neem oil. Those might be cost-effective solutions for you depending on how many trees you have!
That is very interesting, my Darlin loves planting geraniums too. Cheers.
You get one thing done, and there are 10 more things to do added to the list.
Haha yes that’s so true…never ends 😂
Hey Chad, Almost 100k Subbies 🤗👍👏Good for you!!! The piglets are so fast😊 Soooo happy for bubbles🤗I can’t take the beetles, and now we have the lantern flies…😔😡Great video❤
Yup thanks 100k subs is a great achievement, only going up & up. For three years now the cherry trees get defoliated by these beetles. The traps get full many times but still tons of beetles next year, something’s gotta give.
@@HiddenSpringFarm I may have shared my secret spray, not sure. In a spray bottle-water, you can add cup distilled vinegar tablespoon of cedar oil or tea tree oil and few drops dish soap. We have been using this for about the last 5 years👍👍👍🤗
@@VintageStylebyJo oh what does that do? Kill ‘em? Do I spray it on the leaves or right on the beetles?
@@HiddenSpringFarm this will kill them and the eggs👍🤗 spray the leaves. We spray all of our tomato and cucumber plants
Wow, you have 99k subscribers!!! Are you going to celebrate when you break 100k?
Big party and maybe a beer 🍺
Hi Chad would recommend drip irrigation over sprinklers. Also recommend planting corn in a grid pattern rather than a single line as they pollinate with wind, but you probably already know that! Good luck!
That’s more than likely what I’ll do especially since different veg have different water needs. I planted corn in a grid…250 seeds I only got 17 to grow past the grass and weeds. I’ve got it tarped to help but will try again next year.
@@HiddenSpringFarm good luck! And the piglets are growing fast!
Hello Chad. What an awesome video. About the garden to water: I usually use a soaker hose, so it drips on the soil. I found that is the best way. If we water with a sprinkler, only the top gets wet and it all will welter and fall of.
The piglets have grown so much. Oh My Gosh. Mama pig flew the piglet. I am wondering if the piglets are ready for solid food. Since mama is not feeding them much milk. Thank you so much for sharing. Lots of Love to you and your Darlin'
❤❤❤❤ Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
Thank u, I’m inclined to agree with you, more than likely some kind of soaker or drip system on timers.
Love Molly and Olive and their summer cuts, can't wait until their winter coats grow back in! Same for my sheepie can't wait! The piglets have grown so fast (even tiny tiny one) great job on the farm Chad I can't believe how much you get done in one day 😸
I like their winter coats too. Piglets grow too fast, they’re gonna be so big before we know it.
Get some milky spores for the ground to prevent the Japanese Beatles
I wonder how many bags I’d need? They’re like $70 per bag too. I wouldn’t have to just do our orchard either I’d need to do like 10 acres or so. I better do something cause these beetles aren’t stopping.
@@HiddenSpringFarm I would wait until fall to place it on the ground. I would start just in your fruit tree area. You want to kill them from the ground because that’s were they start as grubs
Looking good 👍 😍🐇🐓🐖🐈🐕🪿
Thank u so much ☺️
Can you mix diatomaceous earth in with wood chips, in case the wood chips would attract termites the diatomaceous earth might take care of them?
Flea beetles completely demolished my cauliflower
Oh my
Those babies sure are growing fast.
They look great !
I fully understand the never ending projects 😅
Have you thought about planting pumpkins? The birds can eat all of it
Also you can eat all of it
Flowers , leaves and the pumpkins
The seeds are a dewormer for the birds as well
My first year growing them and mine are doing good
I plan to keep them in a cool room over winter so the birds have a treat weekly
Last year I had some pumpkins and gave all but two to the animals. This year I pls Ted even more pumpkins, watermelon, cantaloupe, sunflowers and corn but the weeds are stunting the crops. I’ve tarped the corn patch already, but so far pumpkins have lots of vines and flowers but no fruit yet. I need to do something about the weeds in order to improve.
One thing you might want to think about before you stick a pipe in the ground for your gate anchor. When you have the gate open you run the risk of that pipe filling in with dirt and then you're not going to be able to slide the anchor in.
Yeah I realize, but even if I embed a piece of wood with a hole or a paver stone the same thing could happen. Just gotta clean out the hole I guess.
@@HiddenSpringFarm Gallagher Animal Management sells a Multi Post 3-Way Gate Anchor for about $21 CA. It looks like if you put that on a small post, short enough for your tractor to go over and you could attach the gates that way and not have to worry about cleaning anything out. Not sure if it will work, but I thought it was worth a mention.

10:20 pitchfork will change ur life, ijs :)
Haha I probably have 4 pitch forks but didn’t have one handy
Hi chad how many baby piglets boys n girls do u have ?
Billie had 8 piglets and of the eight I think there are 6 boys and 2 girls. But they’re so quick now it’s hard to get them to be sure.
Hast Du schon mal versucht...eine holzkonstruktion um und über die Bäume die nicht zu hoch sind zu bauen und ein moskitonetz darum und drüber zu spannen....dann kämen sie nicht ran??!!😊
Yes that’s an idea, but there’s just so many trees and probably 2 acre area.
@@HiddenSpringFarm
Versuche es doch erst mal bei 2....3....bäumen ob es funktionieren würde 😄
I know Molly is one of your sheepdogs, but what's the other's name?
Olive
How many cats do you have?
We have 7 cats at the moment, I call em the claw crew 😆
I enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing
