    You could add a paddle shift kit to this, wow, turning a manual shift car into a sequential paddle shifter for like $2k, that’s a good deal!

    • @HelloKittyFanMan
      @HelloKittyFanMan ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it just turns it from one type of manual shifter into another. It isn't turning it from manual into something else. Even if you replace the "H" transmission with an actual sequential one.

      Michael Bacon it’s still a helical cut gearset with synchros, it won’t last long if you don’t use the clutch. A proper sequential box will use dog engagement rings and straight cut gears.

    Yeah you would still need to use the clutch but it makes it simpler, i bet it would give you a little bit of an edge on competition. If you were just cruising I wonder if you could still have that feel if you wanted to float the gears. It's a pretty brilliant idea alone. Looks pretty simple with the room for driver customization. Probably bring that $2500 price tag if they made a model with cheaper materials.

    • @Golith14

      @JustKyzuuh 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Jared Lane I doubt that, no offense. It's not a simple mechanism. It's either a complex mechanical system or electrically controlled actuators. Given it's size and the fact that they can display the gear it's in, I'd assume it's electronic.

    • @Golith14
      @Golith14 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Jared Lane explain how they are able to completely relocate the shifter with only a cable then?

    • @Golith14
      @Golith14 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Because it's inside of the housing. Lol. It's not that hard. It's all direct bolt on. If it was electronically switched, they wouldn't need a shifter. That housing would be a lot larger if it had electronics in it.

      Most guys SUCK at shifting...especially with quick revving/high RPM engines. That's the whole reason why DCTs came about...originally started with the BMW SMG E36 which was similar to what they did here(manual trans with a CPU controlled shifter).
      Old guys would talk sh*t/make fun of a guy with an automatic Corvette/porsche/M car...know it's Excepted.
      Taking the Driver out of making a car fast/quick. Blame it on F1.
      Lambo, pagani, bugatti, ferrari, Nissan GTR are all automatics. The 911R, Z06 and last viper were the last of the manuals.

    • @VDVC-RC
      @VDVC-RC 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Dain S you only have to clutch for 1st gear. If you read the description, it states that there are ECU outputs available to blip or cut throttle for rev matched shifts

    • @ATLRIOT
      @ATLRIOT 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lenny ViDiViCi they said "they imagine" how is an ecu going too disengage your clutch? Unless it's going too try and float the gears out which is slow. I would think if this is a serious option they would mention it in the video.
      I'm not trying to be negative but if you have to use a clutch I don't see the benefit.

    • @philipcooper8297
      @philipcooper8297 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      No. You have to use the clutch between every gear change. You would need a constant mesh box, to shift gears without the clutch. Not saying a standard manual gearbox wouldn't work, without the clutch, but you are going to ruin the selector forks in it pretty soon.

      IM1 exactly no missing gears it can happen to anyone. Sequential has so much less room for error. I can always power shift a foot shift bike or atv faster because of sequential shifting. Pretty cool shit.

If I am getting this right, it appears we could mount the main assembly to the trans then run the cable forward to the cabin?

      KIBA4842 dude. A coyote is $6800 and the gearbox behind it is another $4k+ depending on the spec. A $2400 insurance item that adds a touch of performance improvement (or a big one if you can get set up to rev match or cut ignition for clutchless shifts) isn't exactly a bad idea.

    You will most likely need a gear indicator otherwise you will frequently loose track of which gear you are in unless you are very focused on that or perhaps you get used to it but all racecars have this indicator. On a H-I pattern it doesn't happen.

I take a bit of pride out of knowing how to run a "boring" H-pattern. Of course in a hundred years even the race cars will probably drive themselves...glad I wont be around.

    Too many negative comments in here. To make this worth it, you need a device that will kill ignition for milliseconds to allow for full clutchless upshifts and it must also blip the throttle to allow for downshifts. The ONLY way to go about this without ruining your synchros is to eliminate them and go faceplated! Im a die hard manual guy will never go automatic but the benefits of this style of shifting makes a manually shifted CLUTCH car far better than any auto when it comes to racing. You get the instant no slip shifts of a clutch between gear utilizing 100% of your cars power (rather than losing power through a tq converter) AND you get the ability to slip the clutch off the line to make for a good launch.

    That's insane. I remember when I purchased my new WRX straight from show room and within 500 miles, dropping the motor, trans and rear diff and got Jun 2.2 stroker 550cc primary and 800 secondary injectors all managed my MoTec standalone which also controlled custom dogbox built by PPG and electronic R200 rear diff. This was back in 2003 and cost of my build was around 60k which included purchase price of my car. WRX was only 23k back than. I've made 607 awhp at 8600 RPM and 488 tq at 5200 RPM. The point is just my trans upgrade and it was sequential trans, that alone was 11k. Now the tech is advanced enough to the point, just a few dollars can, you can convert any trans into sequential trans. To me, that is fricken amazing.
