I got the 3D printed back plate to install the 2280 SSD with the small 90 degree adapter. It worked but I lost the ability to have the silicone cover and use the travel case. The new adapter designs don't require a long ribbon cable. It's not difficult to open the legion go and put in a 2280 SSD using an adapter. All you need is a Phillips head screwdriver. It's also a more elegant solution than taping an external SSD to the legion go. 😅
It wouldn’t, as long as your battery does not reach 0% you should be fine which is also something you should watch even in stock unit cause that’s just how battery works. If anything, putting NVME in small devices like PC handheld cause them to operate above 60 which can reduce NVME lifetime at faster rate (at above 70 will cause permanent damages).
Awful video. Who would massacre their handheld like this. Removing engineered structures just to jame a drive into it. I’m sure that drive won’t last long. From it shifting inside, to shock from the unit being dropped or sat down, to increased heat because of poor centralization. Just all around a bad idea in my nook
Honestly this is just dumb way to f***up your console. If you need more space just use external ssd and install games on that, might be a hassle for it to dongle around but et least you don't risk bricking your console. The thermals are gonna get horrible over time and not the mention the danger of lithium battery caching the fire.
I mean. 1. You won’t brick your console by swapping a ssd 2. Thermals are actually better than stock. Check out the discord or Reddit for details. 3. Why would the ssd have anything to do with battery catching fire?
I am seeing absolute max temperatures on the ssd of about 50 degrees during heavy writes. The ssd is actually getting airflow in this location, and there is no physical contact between the batter and SSD (there is an air gap between the two). So surprisingly temperatures actually appear lower Also the model of ssd I used is cool running I did some extensive gaming tests, as well as long transfers to be sure that SSD temperature did not become excessive 💪

Some videos showed people printing the case, drillling metals to magnetically attach the ssd drives. I don't know what were they thinking.
People don’t want an external solution in most cases.
Because these types ideas and videos are meant for the modding community. 🙄🙄
It's not difficult to open the legion go and put in a 2280 SSD using an adapter. All you need is a Phillips head screwdriver. It's also a more elegant solution than taping an external SSD to the legion go. 😅
I have a 2tb ssd inside and just got 4tb 2080 I'm just going to stick it to the back
I thought about doing that to the SD routing the cable out to back side in a nvme case..
There is more room in the deck
Hey man, which 8/16 gb ram sticks would you suggest for legion slim 7 amd for a low budget
Crucial 5600mhz ddr5
@@TechGuyBeau The 16 gb version is not available in my country. Are there any other options?
We need handhelds with 2280 slot
Strongly agree
That's too much trouble just to installa 2280 drive i would just buy a 2242 and be done with it.
Assuming you don’t want 4tb, you are absolutely correct
I'll wait for Legion Go 2 instead.
At this point you should. New AMD AI chips look great
Never us a SSD in direct near of the batterie without cooler. The batterie can be damaged and in worst case degassing.
They aren’t touching and thermals are quite good on both so… yeah
My concern with this is the power draw of the 2280. In the long term, it might damage the device.
Why is the GO white?!
This is what I wanna know. Did he paint his?
Dbrand sells skins for it
Awful video. Who would massacre their handheld like this. Removing engineered structures just to jame a drive into it. I’m sure that drive won’t last long. From it shifting inside, to shock from the unit being dropped or sat down, to increased heat because of poor centralization. Just all around a bad idea in my nook
if there was a way to fit it could u hook up a WD_BLACK 3.5-Inch Gaming Hard Drive?
You can use it over usb c
Solder the ribbon to the drive.
Honestly this is just dumb way to f***up your console. If you need more space just use external ssd and install games on that, might be a hassle for it to dongle around but et least you don't risk bricking your console. The thermals are gonna get horrible over time and not the mention the danger of lithium battery caching the fire.
I mean.
1. You won’t brick your console by swapping a ssd
2. Thermals are actually better than stock. Check out the discord or Reddit for details.
3. Why would the ssd have anything to do with battery catching fire?
Wait, white? Is that a skin?
Yep. It’s a dbrand skin. I have a video about it :)
Sweet, me likey
I am seeing absolute max temperatures on the ssd of about 50 degrees during heavy writes. The ssd is actually getting airflow in this location, and there is no physical contact between the batter and SSD (there is an air gap between the two). So surprisingly temperatures actually appear lower
Also the model of ssd I used is cool running
I did some extensive gaming tests, as well as long transfers to be sure that SSD temperature did not become excessive 💪
Sorry man, I know you were trying to save some money. But honestly it would have been worth just getting the right size m.2 NVME drive. Now that drive is going to get hot and so close to the battery is not a good idea. Anyone thinking about doing this I would think Twice, because already the chipset gets really hot, and the battery gets hot when charging, now you have a bigger drive on top of the battery. 😬 Yes it works but at what cost
I actually paid slightly more this way. But I get 2x the storage and a superior performing drive
@@TechGuyBeau I'm glad it worked out for you. Hopefully this hack works in the long run.
é por isso que a ferrari proibem certas pessoas de comprar .
Might as well purchased the 2tb one from Micro Center.
We don’t have those here. We don’t even have 1tb
Nice .. put hot ssd on a hot battery ..
And yet; there are no heat issues as I explain in the video. Been about a week and both run cool as a cucumber ;)
