Their relationship was based around mutual narcissism. That is, they both loved themselves more than anybody else. They saw themselves in each other, and that self-love was reflected off of one another.
What if the Jedi stayed out of the Clone Wars?
NuclearShortcut That scenario reminded me of the Mandalorian War.
It would literally be the premise of KOTOR. Anakin would lead a group of jedi against the council's wishes. I can imagine quinlan vos going as well, and obviously ahsoka tano assuming she was still assigned to anakin in this timeline). Anakin and Vos would both fall to the dark side as revan and malak fell (I can imagine palpatine using the death of ahsoka to catalyse this) and the death of ventress (assuming vos still falls in love with her in this timeline) to catalyse vos's fall. but sideous would do this in a way that anakin and quinlan vos would blame eachother and dual, with palpatine training the survivor (almost certainly going to be anakin) as his apprentice. with no involvement in the clone wars the jedi wouldn't be spread throughout the galaxy and instead would still be concentrated in the jedi temple. after winning the war by slaughtering the separatist high council on mustafar, anakin would return to coruscant as a hero in the public's eyes with the grand army of the republic with him. on sideous's orders he would send word ahead to the jedi council that he regretted disobeying them and would surrender to them upon return to coruscant for trial. basically every jedi would want to witness the trial of the chosen one so we can assume that all but all of the order would be present for this. but instead of returning with open arms anakin would march into the temple with an army to execute order 66. most of the order would fall and the battle would culminate with a dual between obi wan and anakin through the halls of the temple, a dual which obi wan would win, wounding anakin and leaving him for dead before escaping with yoda thanks to the assistance of bail organa. padme would die in childbirth for the same reason she did in the original timeline, anakin would be forced into a life support suit for the rest of his life and palpatine would villainize the jedi in the eyes of the public as they were supposed to keep the galaxy safe yet allowed civil war to engulf it, and create the empire out of the ruins of the war torn galaxy. thus the events of the original trilogy are not changed at all.

1) Why didn’t the Chancellor’s Red Guards intervene when Mace and the Jedi Masters drew their lightsabers on him?
2) Did any Jedi survive the initial assault of Order 66 long enough to capture and interrogate individual clones about why they suddenly turned? If so, were the clones and Jedi able to realize that the Chancellor’s claims of a Jedi takeover of the senate were unfounded?
3) Did the Separatist council on Mustafar know that Order 66 had taken place, since they were watching the progress of various battles on the holotables? If so, what were their reactions? Did they issue any statements to the Republic?
Lukas Danford A lot of these questions, I would love to have answered.
1) I think that Palpatine's goal was not to beat the jedi who attacked him in that situation before Anakin arrived, since that's what ultimately corrupted him to the dark side.
2) The "chip" planted on the clone troopers' brains doesn't allow them to consider it "unfounded", and they would probably just consider the Jedi who's interrogate them a traitor of the republic (and the new galactic empire).
3) I'm pretty sure that Sidious directly tells them that the "war's over" so they knew about the jedi order's fall, but they didn't know Sidious' true identity.

It seems like a very interesting relationship for sure. Despite Palpatine and what we know of him, I kind of like the idea that he had a romantic relationship with her, and genuinely loved her. But at the same time, if she ever became an obstacle to his goals, he would nonetheless dispose of her like everyone else, and efficiently too.
And as much as Palpatine would hate it he's still find a way to enjoy carrying out the act in typical Palpatine fashion. Looking on the "dark side" of the situation, if you will.
Actually, that scenario sounds like a tragic/psychopath's love story. Moore becomes a liability and Palpatine attempts to dispose of her personally, and fatally wounds her. But because of their love for each other, and their mutual dark nature, she'd encourage him to enjoy the act of killing her and slowly taking her life
Also, on an unrelated note, I think I can picture an Umbaran counterpart of Romeo & Juliet.
Also, if she were still around after Palpatine's death, I wonder how she would have reacted to it, and how she would have carried on without him in this case.
I think the dark joke here is that Palpatine was an abused youth and as his lust for power grew he used his friends and sith apprentices as pawns even to the point of abusing and torturing his apprentices in sadistic ways to inflict the same torment he felt growing up. I think Sly Moore was a partial pawn though with her death he carried on the abuse to the point of abusing his own son into slavery.
Palpatine was a sociopath, if he had any feelings, they would have been superficial.
He seemed manipulative, ruthless, charming, intelligent, very short on empathy, a powerful politician, ambituous, he didn't seem like an emotional person except for some fortuitously timed (for him) anger outbursts..A psychopath wouldn't be a bad guess.

He was affectionate towards her because he basically raised her and molded her into an extension of himself. He would have loved in her the things he believed were reflections of his own talents and powers. Sociopaths can have selective empathy. They are also not immune to the chemical effects of infatuation on the brain. He could truly believe he loved someone, though the emotions would indeed be shallow. One of the downfalls of sociopathy is the inability to self reflect, so he would be unaware of it. Infatuation fits right in with the Sith concept of passion, so I can see him fully giving into his passions with Sly. It was hardly romantic though. She was never more than a prized possession to him and he would have gotten over her death very easily.
There must be a huge amount of dank memes between them.

Knowing Palpatine, he would’ve gotten rid of Sly Moore not long after the Declaration of a New Order if she was simply another pawn so he could focus on his Empire without any ‘distractions’, or at the very least put her Force Sensitivity to more use now that he had no more minions like Grievous or Nute Gunray to lie to so he could eventually rule the Galaxy
