Thanks for the helpful review, the tip on IBIS with sony a6400 for vintage lenses was gold !!! i have a a7ii with larger form factor and debating on lower profile sony like a6400 but based on your notes will defer getting the APSC sony and will keep on keeping on with a7ii with manual lenses. the extra controls on full frame a7ii may also be usefull for manual lenses
    thanks again, neil

loving my new G9, with the 12-35mm f/2.8 all the time. This day in age most people notice you if you’re shooting with anything else other than a phone.
I think if you’re shooting a lot vintage glass, then the IBIS would be a lot more important than Autofocus, because all of those are manual

Adrian Velazquez I love the focal length on apsc better for my vintage lenses, the g9 is a monster of a camera don’t get me wrong but for my needs now the a6600 makes more sense!

Juan Anselmo I was borderline going A6600 as well instead of G9, but since I do a good amount of photography the G9 took the lead

I am looking for a second camera for my Lumix GX85, and I think the G9 appeals to my professional needs. Since I already have the lenses, I think the G9 would be perfect. When I want to be stealthy, I can use my GX85 which has great IBIS and battery life, and when I need power, I'll choose the G9.

Shaun Yeoh agree but the I’m pretty sure the g9 is a better camera than the gx85 in every department specially in ibis, the g9 ibis is even better than the gh5, battery life is out of this world as well. Hope it works out for you!

Thanks Juan. Is the G9 an upgrade over the old A6000 as far as the CAF and IQ is concerned?? I have zeroed in on the Panny G9 along with an Olly 12 to 40mm f2.8. Provided the IQ and AF is any better than the A6000. I have the A6000 with two primes sigma 16 and 56 f1.4. It is not weatherproof though and struggles to nail focus on my toddler running around. Plus Sony zooms are heavy and expensive.

The g9 is a way superior camera specially for video. It’s a 10 bit 4K camera also great for photos, the af it’s not great and I think the a6000 might be same or a lot better than the g9, again for me with the lenses you are mentioning you are going to be great! Just don’t expect great slow mo or log 10bit footage, the a6000 it’s still a good camera.

I don't think you made a good decision, for the price of the 6600 you could have picked up the A7III, which is superior in every way to the 6600 and Sony APC lenses are expensive, few and not good, so you'll need to buy full frame lenses anyway. I would've picket up G9 instead.

Boris Pradel ---- you are wrong and here’s why: I only paid 918$ for the a6600 on a B&H EDU sale, I would have never pay full price for that camera, then lenses : I paid 275$ for the sigma 16 1.4 on Facebook market, then got the Sony 35 1.8 oss for 269$ mint on eBay, on a pawnshop got me the Sony 18-105 for 200$ so for 1658$ after taxes, I am covered for days for my needs, I only do video and the a6600 is arguably better in that department! When it come to photos is another story! Have you seen the prices of the g master lenses? My friend I got a steal of a deal on all my gear! PEACE!!!

The only Problem is the autofocus! Other than that the g9 is a beautiful camera!

Lothar Joseph The ibis does its job, it’s not suppose to be a gimbal, it’s only to get steady shots, I’m liking this camera more and more now.
