Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I am saving up all the blocks, and one day, I will make a quilt. I also use the blocks in other projects as well. You can create mug rugs, stuffed shapes, etc. Blessings!
I can see doing that, that’s a good idea. This gives it the real old fashioned quilt look because you used the scraps like in the days of old, eg depression era
Just happened to come across your video, I love it, what an amazing way to use scraps!! I'm certainly going to try this out. Just subscribed your channel, look forward to seeing more of your great ideas 😊
How fun! So if you were to make a quilt with this block, would you put sashing on the edges or join the blocks as is? Curious minds want to know. It's very pretty.
I would put all the blocks together and then use my serger for the 4 edges (where others would use binding). But you could certainly bind it as normal. Another option would be self-binding. In that case you would only sew the top and batting. Then add the backing at an inch wider on each side. Fold over twice and sew. Should I do a video on that? I'm not sure if that makes sense. Thank you for watching. Blessings!
I just subscribed to ur program I love the way u did this. I started making a string block now I can add these to the quilt I want to make…I’m from Ohio too!!❤

I am not a sewer per se, and I found your video and thought it was really interesting. I’ve been wanting to make some placemats that are just using scrap fabric and I love this idea, but what I want to know is, is the muslin the only backing or do you get another piece of fabric and back the whole thing together? And also, how do you finish off the edges? Do you bind them?
You can absolutely use any fabric for the backing. You could bind the pieces to finish your piece. I have finished mine with my serger because I like that look. Or you could take your front piece (that has been quilted to the batting or stabilizer) and back piece. Place them right sides together, sew all the way around but leave an opening to turn. After turning, simply top stitch all the way around. I hope that makes sense. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Thank you for the questions.
This method will be perfect for making my grand son a 'building block quilt' I don't want to say the brand name but the very famous locking blocks ;) I like this method because I could make all the quilt blocks different instead of making strips ;) love this, It will make making this quilt so much fun ;)
