Yay!!! I’m still working on mine. The Christmas time frame for us is crazy from around Sept through the end of the year. I’m hoping the first of the year I can finish mine. Send a picture!! 😁😁😁
I hope you have plenty of scraps from your dressmaking. That dress.... Oh boy..... Lots of quilt block possibilities! Thank you for the precise explanation on squaring up blocks 🍄🍄
I just found you yesterday! I’ve got my scraps out and started cutting. Today I started sewing. It sure is nice to have this tutorial! Thank you for sharing!
I love lots of color in my quilts, but I recently fell in love with white sashing and cornerstone blocks, even a teeny shoofly in the intersection of the sashing. Thank you for the super extra effort of making videos!
I just discovered you on youtube, which I am very happy about. Because the quilt you make is beautiful and I will definitely make it myself. The explanation is also very good. So thank you. Wilhelmina
Oh my, I already have lots of quilts to make but, I love this one, it will be my next quilt. Got to hurry and get the one I am working on finished so I can get started. To me the simplest ones are the best. Thanks for the idea.
I’ve learned more from your videos than any of the others! I’ve had a problem squaring up my blocks in the past, but now my blocks are perfect thanks to your videos. I’m in the process of making my quilt using a 10” square and a 5” square pattern that you showed and I’m going to love this quilt when it’s finished. I used reds and whites and it will be beautiful! Thank you again and I’ll post a picture when it’s completed.
Great scrap buster. Fun little block to work on and accumulate when you have a little time to sew.. I want to make these blocks. Thanks for your tutorial. Could use Halloween, Valentine, Christmas fabrics as well as red, white and blue fabrics. Can’t wait to get started.
Love that quilt block. I do gravitate towards quilts that have a lot of white background. They just look so pretty to me. I hate when people just throw together of bunch of different scraps together with insufficient seperation. REALLY want to see this put together in a larger size. Will subscribe and hold you to it Sew Charming Quilt Shop. 😉
Cool idea....the little triangles in the 16 block look so cute ....you could alternate the blocks with light triangles and dark/er backgrounds or if slot of your scraps are bigger you could use bigger triangles ....I think it looks amazing though especially with the patterned lights surrounding the triangles!! Well done!!
Love to listen to and watch you explain the projects to your channel watchers. Every video gets me more excited about getting out my Scraps and making magic happen. Thanks so much for sharing. ❤ Will you please point me in the direction for the block of the month series. I have the ninth month but that's it. Again thank you.
Thank you!!! I’m glad you are liking the videos. I’m also glad you’re going to make the blocks! There is a playlist of them. Do you know how to get to a playlist?
I have enjoyed making quilts with alternating used and new material. I'm not fussy about trimming but simply ease one seam to the next. I now only hand quilt from start to finish. When quilting is done and the quilt is washed and dried, i like the overall crinkle that results, especially starting from 2"square pieces.
First video I'm watching since the storm. We are just a little south of Gainesville and have NO damage. We were really lucky. How bout you Miss Penney ????
Another technique in hand quilting the top, batting and back together is this: my backing side stitch is about twice as long as the front stitch. Like 1/8 compared to 1/16. After I've done about a two-inch row of stitches I lightly pull until that little row is barely, but evenly puckered. Then i back stitch once, a nearly invisible stitch. This decorative stitch i usually reserve for a border of vines, crosses, hearts or star bursts. French knots are also nice when they're embedded in the quilting on corner pieces.
I just had to watch your video again when I came across a small tub with a batch of these made, 15 of the smaller 3" squares with a borders ready for one block and the 16th one that I just finished sewing. Now I can put 16 into a block. Fun video! I'm going to watch your second one. I also have some that I began doing that began with 3 1/2" squares and some that are 5" squares. Great scrap idea! Thank you. 🥰🧵
This is a project I do a little at a time. It’s what I have in my sewing room so that when I have a few minutes I can pull it out and work on it. I’ve not finished it yet but it’s looking good!! It’s a fun one.
@ I can see why it’s done in increments! There are a lot of little components. I think this one will be in my WIP pile for a little bit. I’ll work on it during our raining and snowy days when I don’t want to go anywhere. It’s going to be beautiful! Thank you for the pattern and tutorial!!
You could also make a really awesome quilt just by sewing a neutral fabric around irregular scrap pieces, as well! You would waste some fabric when sewing the then neutral pieces together (if you wanted to sew in a straight line) but it would be a cool random look.
I’m definitely gonna do this! I’ve just started a scrappy string quilt from watching one of you tutorial videos so I’m gonna stick with that for now. I’m gonna need more scraps to do all these fun scrappy quilts! Do you have a bag of scraps for sale by chance? I’m fairly new to sewing…just started in December and I’m loving it! When spring came I started my garden and haven’t had a lot of time to do much sewing but now that fall is here I’m getting the projects going!
Yes. There’s a link to one in the description of the video. We have several though. Just go to our website at Sewcharmingquiltshop.com and search for scrap bag.

Are backstitching as you put the rows together?
My machine has a stay stitch on it but if not then yes. I’ve not really have a problem with stitches coming out but better safe than sorry.
