What is Tesla Sentry mode?
Sentry Mode continuously monitors the environment around a Tesla when it’s left unattended.
If a minimal threat is detected, such as someone leaning on a car, Sentry Mode switches to an “Alert” state
and displays a message on the touchscreen warning that its cameras are recording.
If a more severe threat is detected, such as someone breaking a window, Sentry Mode switches to an “Alarm”
state, which activates the car alarm, and plays music at maximum volume from the car’s audio system.
Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners real experiences told by the Teslacam. Many incidents are recorded from my Tesla Model 3, and some videos are submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiast. I contact each person who send me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up what happened after what we see on their video. On every video I add voice over and captions of what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives my video a newsworthy value.
From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives my video a great educational value. It is my desire to add my own unique and creative value in a transformative way to ensure you enjoy and learn from the videos being presented.

@@pandorakid229 a police state always ends up with real criminals getting away with their crimes and innocent citizens getting harassed by "authorities" often for no reason and zero provocation.
To the point where crime is rewarded and lawful behavior is punished.
So basically, Sentry mode is awesome. Police and Justice system suck (or at least overwhelmed with this type of crime so dont bother). Got it. Not surprised.
Maybe Tesla will add an Executioner mode someday.

They may be misidentified or breaking into their own car (obviously they are guilty tho)
West coast, the court would rule innocent.
In some states, this recording is going to be highly contested in court, because of laws that state that both parties must be informed of a recording taking place. Tesla might display this message on the tablet, but that will be highly disputed as far as whether or not the suspect was able to see the warning. Another aspect is the fact that people don’t generally have a right to privacy in a public setting, but it’s somewhat unclear how much this applies in court. Overall, recording people is an extremely grey legal area.
Mike Hunt is Hairy But there is the precedent that says dashcam footage can be used when settling insurance claims. There is also the invitee vs trespasser distinction outside of California, so it could be treated like a camera catching a burglar breaking into a house.
I feel like within 2 years tesla sentry mode has caught more theifs than the cops

had a left door neighbor stole like 500 dollars worth of stuff from our back yard. Police got him, he confessed and nothing. 1 month later he was back like nothing happened.

This is why I don't bother using parking surveillance on my dash cam. Lots of people leave comments asking about this feature, but I know that even if I did have video evidence the police wouldn't be interested. Guess they're far too busy arresting people for not wearing masks and checking Twitter for mean tweets.

The reason why JJ hasn’t heard anything from the police is because he didn’t take his footage to the news outlet or submit it to journalists. If a video doesn’t get enough views police will ignore it.

That's what happens when you defund the police.
With the heavy influenced liberal laws and Prop. 47 everything short of murder is a misdemeanor and priors no longer count. Even IF they are caught they get cited and released and fail to appear in court. But if convicted it's probation or 75 day sentence which means they get processed and released as time served. 75 day sentence or less means NO jail time. Knowing this and knowing priors no longer count all criminals plea to 75 days and walk out. Got to love liberals and Ca, at least the criminals do.

I once lived in a neighborhood where it was cheaper to leave your car doors unlocked, that way they didnt break your window. Crime during crack era was on another level in the projects.

Its a special tool which some people keep in their cars that smashes windows so that you can escape in an emergency (such as if you crash and roll into a river etc).

Generally Tesla's are cars for more wealthy people so that's one thing.

Mainly because Tesla’s are the only cars that use their cameras to record during alarm encounters by default. any nice looking car is a target of shitty behavior. I had my Volvo hit a few times on trips when parked in side street parking.. thankfully the alarm stopped the criminals from continuing their break in.. because my Volvo has a very unique Siren whaling sound (European siren alarm?) and my dashcam I had at the time captured the break in attempt with internal facing camera which triggered i’m guessing from the alarm sounding off...
I want to know if there are settings to set alarm beep and also notifications in Tesla app for incidents like someone touch car or try to open door of a locked car just by pressing door handle thumb?
I hope this takes off and other manufacturers implement their systems i would pay extra to add it.
