37: Design problem. Handbrake only locks the rear tyres. Front tyres are locked by the real brake which is released after some minutes and this happens :( There is no transmission which can be put in "P"
But is this real? Why would Tesla unlock the brake? That takes effort to code it in. And how would this person know that’s what happens internally in the car? My bs detector is set off.
more likely front wheels were released as soon as driver took his foot off the brake pedal, 99.9% of cars only have parking brake at rear wheels, as for a park gear selector it only locks the drive wheel(s) against the transmission. just because it took a few minutes until the vehicle started to move, doesn't mean the front brakes were locked prior to, thats just when the rear wheels lost to traction and gravity.
@@juliahello6673 Tesla and many other brands have a hold feature that when you stop the vehicle the brakes stay applied after stopping until you use the accelerator or touch the brake pedal. This is so you won't have to hold it when stopping, especially helpful on hills. They are released thought when entering park such as not to stress the hydraulic system. As stated most cars only have the park brake on the rear though many have the front wheels blocked by the transmission.
It is crazy how some of these super low speed bumper hits generate so much expense in repairs. I thought they were called bumpers for a reason - to absorb these sorts of bumps without incident!
99% of cars parking brakes are only on the rear wheels mate… Any rear wheel drive car will have the same issue. An AWD ICE with an automatic transmission may lock all four wheels, however you can never rely on the transmission park tang as it’s not designed to hold the car.
From the Tesla Model Y Owner's Manual (Parking Break section): "The parking brake operates on the rear wheels only, and is independent of the pedal-operated brake system."
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the parking brake only works on the rear wheels. I find that stupid. So why didn't Tesla make some sort of brake in the front also? (at least when AWD) Anyways, as long as both of the rear wheels are locked (which we can not see in the video), the extra parking brake mentioned above would have made no difference, as far as I know.
I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. We have had REALLY cold temperatures here, but I saw a white Tesla in the parking lot of a local shopping mall. Temperatures were between -30 Celsius to - 40 Celsius ( -22 Fahrenheit to -40 Fahrenheit ). And as you can see -40 Celsius is the same as -40 Fahrenheit. There was wind chill, so that made it even colder. Hope you all are feeling better.
#37 at 3:18 reminded me of a co-worker that parked his company truck in his driveway one night and the same thing happened. He came out early in the morning and the truck was gone. He freaked out and called the cops to report it stolen. While standing outside in disbelief he looked down the street and saw the truck resting against a power pole. Based on the tracks, everyone agreed it had broken loose from the ice on the driveway and slid down the street on its own.
I do not like Tesla's but thats i don't like the models. But i do not understand why people damage Tesla's. I do not like differant cars like Fiat or Kia or whatever but will never damage them. I like Ferrari VERY much.
Exactly. I don't like Ferrari nor respect Ferrari cause of they business practice as well as the fact that certain models are known for catching fire. However, for someone to damage another person's property just cause they don't like it not only makes no sense but is plain dumb and down right criminal
No 2 vid shows, (1) an Indian young man and (2) the bracelet is actually worn by someone belonging to the Sikh religion. He would be known by people who attends a local Sikh Temple perhaps the elders of the Temple. His religion would not tolerate vandalism as such. The police could visit such a Sikh Temple to canvass information. The number of packs of bottled water he bought from Costco could also indicate that he got supplies for a business selling such items, a convenience store. Most certainly a regular at that Costco store, check members with a surname/ family name like “ Singh “.

The repair bills on those teslas are ridiculous. 9 grand to fix scratches, 7 grand for a 1mph bumper to bumper "bump". I don't hate on EV's but that's ridiculous lmao.
an Hyundai ev ran over something on highway few scratches to batter cover what any normal car it be a non issue , car was 1 year old his insurance gave a bill of $61k Canadian the insurance said more than value of car so written it off. ev like they made from glass they throw away toys at best. ive taken my fiesta city car my first car on to forest track over all sorts off road obstacles and odd occasion scrape the underneath not an issue that what bash plates are for do that in ev high chance you destroy car or burn your house down if you damage a cell and goes in to thermal runaway. another bill ive seen infinity hybrid so battery should be smaller so cheaper he got car for $16k usd and had bill for $21k a slight bump. battery very complex and only takes one cell out 1000's to burn car to ground a reason it normally far more easy to write off one or cheaper too than to fix it
I've always been puzzled by the astronomical cost of getting a scratch fixed-$7000 is just mind-boggling. In Spain, it's only $700 for the same service! The expenses for Tesla repairs are simply exorbitant
4:25 Most cars unlock the front wheels when in park, because if in a situation where the car is rolling, steering may be necessary, also by law you're required to park on side streets with your wheels pointed away from the road so if rear-ended you don't cause more damage.
“Most cars” lock whatever wheels are connected to the transmission as primary drivers. If you have a front wheel drive car, the front wheels lock. Traditional 4WD, if engaged when parked, will lock all four. I have an automatic all wheel drive system on my VW SUV - I know the front wheels lock when parked, but since the rear wheels are only driven as needed through a haldex clutch system, I honestly don’t know if the back wheel free wheel when parked. I am guessing they do. But - the parking brake on “most cars” is on the rear wheels. I have know idea what happens to an AWD Tesla.
@@Nostrildamas65 none of the motors are engaged when power is off on both AWD and RWD models. The parking brake is only applied to the rear wheels - you can hear the whirr of the parking-brake caliper's helical drive when you switch from P to D/R etc. So the front wheels will always castor.
@@SteveButlerMrPersuader So it’s parked in a condition much like a rear wheel drive car? The Prius I drove for years didn’t really have transmission, but it still still had a parking prawl of some kind that electrically engaged on the front wheels when you pressed the park button - assumed Teslas had something similar. The Prius has a conventional parking brake on the rear wheels.
@@Nostrildamas65 The automatic gearbox is blocked with a pin when in park. So if you have a front wheel drive, and parking brake is on the rear wheels, you have no wheels that can roll when parked. Good thing in wintertime.
@@charles33769 What cars with front wheel drive leave the front wheels free when the transmission(transaxle) is in park? Additionally - what states require you to turn your wheels away from the road on level ground? Not a statewide requirement, but California law allows local governments to enact ordinances that require you to curb or otherwise block the wheels when parked on any grade exceeding 3%. Not applicable to parking on level surfaces. Related, you are required to set your parking brake when park on any street in CA - I know people that don’t do that either.
In my country many tourists are confused why are shopping carts lock together by short chain and to the cart corrals by longer one (first in row). And to release your cart you have to put a coin into it. To get your coin back you have to insert chain fron other cart into it therefore locking it back to the row. Surprize surprize no abandon carts anywhere around = no cart deamon. PS: the coin can be 50 cent or 1 or 2 euro. Or many people get keychain coin for this purpose.

I would get the brake system checked out especially on the front of the black slide away Tesla. Perhaps the Parking brake pressure leaked away after the computer set it when it went into park mode. I would carry wheel chocks when parking on steep driveways until this is resolved.
@@DishNetworkDealerNEO Whatever do you mean "from the look of it" ? The manual says: Note The parking brake operates on the rear wheels only, and is independent of the pedal-operated brake system.
I can't believe there is so much hate toward Teslas out there. This goes to show we should ban Tesla vehicles, to stop instigating people's innate hatred toward other kinds.
Vandalism is covered under your insurance assuming you have comprehensive/ other than collision. Tends to be very inexpensive unless you😢in a high risk area/car.

I came italy to canada same was in italy same thing is in canada you need a dollar, but here in Canada people leave their dollar in cart, I've earned 300+$ by getting dollars in carts when going to shopping

Design problem. Handbrake only locks the rear tyres. Front tyres are locked by the real brake which is released after some minutes and this happens :(
There is no transmission which can be put in "P"
But is this real? Why would Tesla unlock the brake? That takes effort to code it in. And how would this person know that’s what happens internally in the car? My bs detector is set off.
@@juliahello6673 dude, the main braking system works on hydraulic pressure. It does not get any when parked.
"It does not get any when parked" is not what is being said. What is being said is "released after some minutes "@@falrus
more likely front wheels were released as soon as driver took his foot off the brake pedal, 99.9% of cars only have parking brake at rear wheels, as for a park gear selector it only locks the drive wheel(s) against the transmission. just because it took a few minutes until the vehicle started to move, doesn't mean the front brakes were locked prior to, thats just when the rear wheels lost to traction and gravity.
So many weird acts of vandalism. People blow off anger at strangers.
It is crazy how some of these super low speed bumper hits generate so much expense in repairs. I thought they were called bumpers for a reason - to absorb these sorts of bumps without incident!
Hello love your videos and wish you good luck
Did Tesla ever cop to the parking brake issue? I’ve seen both of these incidents when they were in the regular rotation and it has been a while.
99% of cars parking brakes are only on the rear wheels mate… Any rear wheel drive car will have the same issue. An AWD ICE with an automatic transmission may lock all four wheels, however you can never rely on the transmission park tang as it’s not designed to hold the car.
More evidence that a lot of people suck.
18:15 It’s important to hold the park button down firmly to manually apply parking brakes to prevent slip away in these conditions.
I feel like no one knows about that feature anymore
From the Tesla Model Y Owner's Manual (Parking Break section): "The parking brake operates on the rear wheels only, and is independent of the pedal-operated brake system."
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the parking brake only works on the rear wheels.
I find that stupid.
So why didn't Tesla make some sort of brake in the front also? (at least when AWD)
Anyways, as long as both of the rear wheels are locked (which we can not see in the video), the extra parking brake mentioned above would have made no difference, as far as I know.
Yeah wow - kinda funny . Idk why ppl do not clean their driveways . Slobs
The "oversight on Tesla's part" is actually an oversight on the driver's part, by driving around in winter on performance summer tires.
The security guard at the end should have been fired and his guard registration permanently revoked.
They are employed by First Markham Place Mall. The owner of the condo corporation needs to do something. He is a time bomb.
There’s no such thing as a well respected league bowler. 😂
I look forward to the videos you will be getting when Cyber Trucks start becoming more available on the streets. Cart Demons VS Stainless Steel.
19:20 Fiat? That Mini Cooper Countyman
Yea, it was pointed out several times when the video was first released. Guess they didn't feel like correcting it 2nd time around.
is it?🤓
Number 16. You can clearly read the car brand as Mini Countryman. Where have you seen the Fiat badge? Asking for a friend.
These repair shops are taking this mickey with the prices.

The Tesla sliding down the road was in park but park only locks the back wheels
for number 6 by Chris Weber, does he have the full GoPro footage anywhere? I'd love to see the crowd's full reaction to the Tesla alarm :P
I love the security of the cameras, but will never own a tesla, because of purchase price and the cost of insurance and repairs.
#19 - wait, Canada can match up sentry video faces with driver's licenses but the US can't?
I thought the same thing
Can't or won't?
I once caught a conversation of a group of guys where one of them, cleary with too much alcohol in his system proceed to tell this friends that he intentionally keyed and damage new looking cars because, and in his own words "If I can't get something nicer, no one can!".
What a piece of trash.

@17:00, these states do not require front license plate probably need to change their law. GOTTA put license plate in the front for these cases
The front wheels aren't locked in park....only the rear wheels.
Do people hate teslas or musk?
Any states or provinces that have no front license plates required laws are stupid.
It is amazing the ripoff on repairs. The first paint shop estimate then some other down the line with virtual no damage or such a light damage that would be barely a cost. And more and more
Literally 10x if not more in some cases.
7:13 thanks for adding that text in the top left, you never know why someone could fail a DUI walking test even when sober. I would personally fail because I have multiple knee and leg injuries that would cause me to immediately fail
that's why most of the world ditched physical sobriety tests looooong ago. their accuracy is highly suspect at the best of times.
most places that do the physical test use it as a pre test before giving the blow in this tube test lol
They specifically ask you if you have any physical conditions that would render you unable to take the test. If you do (or simply refuse to take the physical exam), they often have other options. Many have breathalyzers, and if they don't, they'll just detain you and take you to a hospital for a blood test.

The repair bills on those teslas are ridiculous. 9 grand to fix scratches, 7 grand for a 1mph bumper to bumper "bump". I don't hate on EV's but that's ridiculous lmao.
an Hyundai ev ran over something on highway few scratches to batter cover what any normal car it be a non issue , car was 1 year old his insurance gave a bill of $61k Canadian the insurance said more than value of car so written it off. ev like they made from glass they throw away toys at best. ive taken my fiesta city car my first car on to forest track over all sorts off road obstacles and odd occasion scrape the underneath not an issue that what bash plates are for do that in ev high chance you destroy car or burn your house down if you damage a cell and goes in to thermal runaway. another bill ive seen infinity hybrid so battery should be smaller so cheaper he got car for $16k usd and had bill for $21k a slight bump. battery very complex and only takes one cell out 1000's to burn car to ground a reason it normally far more easy to write off one or cheaper too than to fix it
27:00 finnaly some justice!!!
I recently got a new EV and these videos made me not want to buy a tesla lol
I don't get it why so many people want to vandalize Teslas.
Time for clear bra to protect from key scratches
#16 that is not a fiat its a mini coupe
In my country many tourists are confused why are shopping carts lock together by short chain and to the cart corrals by longer one (first in row). And to release your cart you have to put a coin into it. To get your coin back you have to insert chain fron other cart into it therefore locking it back to the row. Surprize surprize no abandon carts anywhere around = no cart deamon. PS: the coin can be 50 cent or 1 or 2 euro. Or many people get keychain coin for this purpose.
A Tesla having more muscle than actual muscle cars is a crazy statement 1:38
But have you not seen the multiple videos here on TH-cam showing Tesla, especially Model S ones, blowing away various muscle cars at the drag strip?
Those cars in the day only had 120hp or so.
@kelli217 almost any modern day car can beat vintage muscle cars. But muscle is not just about speed and power. It's about history and racing pedigree. Of which tesla has neither

I would get the brake system checked out especially on the front of the black slide away Tesla. Perhaps the Parking brake pressure leaked away after the computer set it when it went into park mode. I would carry wheel chocks when parking on steep driveways until this is resolved.
