Yes. For now this is a cool workaround hack. Cool trick to show your other fellow creative friends. But I feel like in the long run, this will be incredibly inefficient to maintain. OMG! What a time to be alive! Thank you for showcasing Procreate Dreams features! I feel I will be taking the day off on its release date, just to spend all day and night learning its features and creating stories! I never thought we’d reach point in technology where animation becomes THAT easy to learn, to make and to be accessible!
while the whole character rigging is amazing and everything. YOU CAN'T JUST IGNORE THE FACT WE CAN TAKE A DRAWING OUT OF THE CANVAS AND IT DOESN'T DELETE. I mean this changes so much for animators and artists in general.
Amazing! Thank you so much for being the ONLY person on TH-cam who is posting videos on Dreams. Appreciate it. Did you make the Intro of the video (first 1 second) animate using Procreate Dreams?
It’s so cool you made a video about rigging in Dreams😍. No one else is doing it (at least I can’t seem to find one). Right on time for my school projects. I want more of these about character design and rigging.
Woah! This just keeps surprising me! Does Procreate Dreams come with a camera tool? So far it feels like After Effects but 2D animation-centered. I hope Camera Parallax is added in future updates
someone said what a time to be alive and I can't agree more. What a great and awesome tool! I'm so excited to begin learning and practicing animation. The UI is so innovative and takes advantage of pen to select. I couldn't figure out how to select or group until this vid... Thank you! WOWW PROCREATE DREAMS
I KNEW IT. the Fairy animation is just a 1 bone rigging. so make sense making body in parts and " Select All" you move them all in 1 unit. and just pick 1 body part to edit . Brilliant of me.
probably a pipedream but I'm hoping to see if there's an export format that is compatible with bringing in the rigged up character and its animations to other rigging programs like spriter or spine2d (or at least set up in a way that someone can create a conversion tool from the export file) as they are integrated into a variety of game engines and it would be neat to incorporate this into a gamedev workflow.
Can i change the color from the character after i made the whole movement of the character? After i did a movement from 1second and than i duplicated it until 10seconds (running animation) than i want change colors of the character but i cant find it anywhere..😢
Thank you for such a nice tutorial. It was great! As a new to everything animation and Procreate Dreams, I hope you’ll be making more wonder videos like this.❤
Thank you so much 🙏 I really appreciate it! Sounds like a challenging project! I would love to hear more about it. Feel free to share your journey with us on the Discord server - discord.gg/8DbqQ9Qxwd
The keyframe management is a bit bit messy and the fact we have no selection tool it makes the animation process difficult . I’ve been using it for 3 days and I’m struggling with the ergonomics of the app, I’m frustrated about the lack of support of the double tap on the stylus and Magic Keyboard shortcuts , it’s fun but meh … it’s a lot of energy to spend to control what you draw . I hope it will get better soon .
Rats my group tool will not work, it did and I know how to use it but now it does not function, group icon lits red but when i draw across a number frames no line. Great tutorial though
how do you make the opacity of the onion skin not coloured and not a solid colour and instead make it transparent. Also how do you duplicate frames? I have lots of questions, when this releases Im going to need a lot of tutorials on how to use it lol.
Not colored onion skins: no idea. Maybe not possible. Transparent onion skins: there is a slider in the onion skin dialog for transparency. Duplicate frames in the flipbook: touch and hold the center frame in the flipbook to get an edit menu, which includes “duplicate”.
Their Handbook online help, doesn’t show import of any PSD into Procreate Dreams. Good news is back in Procreate, File types import includes PSD and PDF, but export/ share only PDF. I can’t recall from last time I used it, if Procreate import places the PSD and PDF layers into separate layers. Probably depends on the imported files not being flattened (layers not merged?). Maybe ask on their website if you don’t see export and import explanation in app or Handbook. File Types to import and those to export. Time to experiment with a file you don’t care about. Does moving copied elements retain their visual quality? That's my biggest gripe with Procreate. If you copy and move something several times it gets blurry and loses its crispness.
It's honestly seems like one of the more streamlined animation programs. If you start by learning one thing first, like how frame by frame works, and once you got that down, try something like rigging you'll be fine
I m pretty sure many animators will give a tutorial on how to used procreate dream, I am curious if the coloring process is a lot easier like toon boom where can color all layers instead of doing it manually.
@@christianr.5868 right! And even if it doesn’t, I m sure they might update it in the future since they get multiple feedback on how the app is doing and might need improvements
Great to see your preview demo of Dreams. Since you are demonstrating a beta version, can you let me know if there is an option to store and bring in assets from an SSD drive. Lumafusion lets me keep all of my assets as well as my projects entirely on an external SSD drive. My SSD is plugged into the iPad’s usb port. This is great because I have limited storage on my iPad. So will Dreams let me do that. It’s fine I can store Dreams on iCloud -but I really need a real-time ssd option and I hope dreams launches with that feature. Since you have a beta in front of you, can you give me an answer? Thanks!
On the released version, Procreate Dreams lets me import videos and other media from the files dialog. So, I believe that includes external SSDs. But I don’t know if they are linked from there or copied. I would guess linked, because Procreate Dreams is all about non-destructive editing. Also, no idea what happens when an SSD is unplugged. Is there a procedure to relink the media? I have no experience with this, so far.
well, is nice to know there's a workaround for it, but this is no way a riggering process. Riggering it the process on which you basically create the "bones" of the charatcter, and the whole idea, as you said, is that they are all interconnected and can react properly by the change of their neighboring bones. What you did here is just separate everything in layers so you could modify each one more easily, however, by moving the torso in an angle it doesn't automatically move the head along with it, ergo, THIS IS NOT a rigged character. Kinda sad that Procreate doesn't have a proper riggering system, but i guess is more oriented to a manual 2D approach
Indeed, Procreate responds to feature requests. I know many people are asking for proper bone rigging functionality. Hopefully we'll see that in the future 🙂
You can upvote your ideas and your expectations on their forum…it is never too late to let them know how of a dream it is to have such a feature in dreams.
@@PencilParasiteI dont know where you got that idea from. Nothing was really there to back that up, but hopefully they make an app that can incorporate a grease pencil like thing with animation. Mental canvas let's you draw In 3d though
Not true. Procreate did not ask me to say anything. But I did read the intro from a script that I wrote though. I guess I gotta get better at reading and writing scripts 😄
