If you liked this lesson lesson and want to see more from Aaron Blaise, check out this studio tour I did with Aaron - th-cam.com/video/htZwTfxLqhM/w-d-xo.html
Aaron Blaise is not only a master artist, but an incredibly gifted teacher. You’ll take away more in 30 minute demo than a university education. Looking forward to using dreams!
Literally five minutes in and have taken so many notes. Opened up Procreate multiple times in the middle of it to look over my stuff and see how to help it
I started watching this with the intention of checking out just a few minutes, but I ended up sitting through the entire thing. Aaron is a brilliant teacher and just watching him work and speak so passionately about animation makes me excited to download Dreams and make my own animations asap! And thank you Proko for putting out this great content and letting us watch it for free. I can't even describe how much I've learned (and continue to learn) from this channel.
This is the best advertisement for procreate dreams they ever could've made. Seeing Aaron zoom in on that timeline and show the compositing tools he used in his short made me gasp. These kinds of tools on an iPad! I'm sold
This is groundbreaking stuff for the ipad animation community.. You don't know how long we've waited for a procreate lvl animation app. This is like an early Christmas gift!
I just downloaded the software and your tutorial is by FAR the best I've seen so far. Thanks for taking your time not only to show how to use the software but also to go over basic animation principles. You're a true animation legend ^_^.
Aaron is just a master. Not only is he an amazing teacher, but he is also easy to follow and incredibly passionate. I own several of his art studies and he has helped out so much in my artistic endeavors.
For what I want to do with Procreate Dreams (frame animation replacing Animate/PS), this was the most useful guide on the software I've seen thusfar. Aaron is incredible.
Pure talent. The lesson’s animation style reminds me of the large green beast in the 1970s Japanese anime titled Arabian Nights: Sinbad’s Adventures. It was a low-frame-rate animation, typical of that era, yet beautiful.
I can't wait to try dreams out tomorrow!! This was so informative and it is always an honour to follow lessons by the absolute Master that Aaron Blaise is! I love how his love for animation always shines through and he is truly an amazing teacher💙
Here’s an animation I think of making. Ciro. A music only and Sound effect less Animation about an anthropomorphic cat getting separated from his mom while they were on a stormy boat ride. Leaving him to be taken care of by the family of a jackalope he makes a close friendship with.
I do really like this guy he's so cool and passionate and even if he looks mature he feels young at heart, I really like the animation he made but when I will attempt that would require tremendous amount of free time. I didnt know hes the one who made the animation when the procreate dreams is introduced. amazing artist really.
I can't believe Procreate Dreams is releasing tomorrow! So damn excited to play around with it, especially after trying it out at Lightbox Expo for a few minutes!
Oddly enough, I originally started surfing the web today by reading up on an AI image generation thread discussing negative promps, which linked the video "Why AI art struggles with hands". Just as I discovered your guest comment below that video (calling AI art an opportunity for artists), the notification for this new video popped up. It's not particularly odd I'll admit, but still. I guess fate wants me to practice animating hands today.
While we hope to have Aaron in studio to talk about starting a project from step one, LightBox Expo demos are loud Q & A process sessions, more than structured step-by-steps. Aaron's a fantastic teacher and we were lucky to be able to have him by during a very busy convention. Hopefully, when you have your hands on the app tomorrow and get to poke around the UI, there'll be something in here that benefits you well. We do know that Aaron and his team were hard at work on a course that may be more of what you're looking for right now.
I don’t think you realize the talent that you have for drawing which most people do not have. The fact that you can visualize where you want him to go and how he will bend and move in the perspective that is involved in that is a special talent that very few people possess. So while you make it look very easy, it is very very difficult for most of us. And learning a program in 10 minutes is amazing. Because I have been trying to learn Procreate for years and still can’t get it. Maybe I’m just not good at this type of thing. But I am an artist, that painting oil and acrylic and some watercolor. But learning this stuff is very hard for me.
I dont think you realize how much work and practice this man has put into mastering his craft, this is something you learn in a lifetime, no-one is born with this.
Here after officially downloading it and getting overwhelmed at all the ideas I can finally execute 😂 This video was great! I hope I can get my niece to learn this too!
A large part of that is handled by him getting those first key poses done before he goes in and draws the inbetweens. It allows you to do the big work up front with less drawings and see where your issues are before you commit to working on something with bad portions in it
Hav 0 interest in animation but now im thinking about trying this out haha aaron is great person to sell this. Unless its ipad only and not on android too
so cool we have older masters that came into the computer age and can show people how to master the offerings....too bad in the future there will be less masters
Bought the app, am disappointed. This thing is not ready for prime time, despite Aaron being able to do amazing stuff with it. It’s missing a lot of things I consider to be bare bones. Not worth 20 dollars or even 10 right now. It will be eventually if they keep working on it, but right now, it’s not there.
Toonsquid is fully baked iPad animation software. Callipeg too. Clip Studio Paint works really well, but is a bit complex because it’s real anime software that Japanese studios use.
You’re absolutely correct. This app is not ready to contend with other professional animation software. Like you said, it’s missing a lot of things. I’d like to add that the timeline functionality is so bloody awkward, finicky and glitchy. There’s a long way to go before this app is able to live up to the hype.
Proko team member Stephen here! I used Dreams when it first came out to make a few games and really liked it. It was all I could think about when Procreate announced this new app haha
O.k. So this is for experienced ANIMATORS who already know keyframes ,4K, etc. On the first day of release of this Australian project we have an experienced USA person show us what professionals who have already used animation programs and apps. can do. Will be looking intently on how this teacher approaches the beginner lessons that have been promised by Proko.
Thanks for the walkthrough, could you tell me how much storage is necessary to create in dreams? If I were to make a 1 minute clip for example, about how much storage it would take up? I'm about to get a new ipad, and I'm trying to figure out if 128gb would be enough for creating in dreams.
It ranges. What one person might do in one 30 second clip might be way less layers, keyframes and more. If you're getting a new ipad, just make sure you can get one that can connect to a hard drive and you can dump your files as needed or otherwise back them up.
Awesome demo! I have a query - if Aaron, (or someone else familiar with his other streams!) is reading such comments - are the pencil and the surface being drawn on, the default Apple pen tip and ipad glass, or does he use something to give it a wee bit more 'grip'? I grew up on pencil and paper drawing - and even though I have had an ipad for a while now, I still find it so slippy! :) Will definitely give Procreate Dreams a whirl. Thanks for the great video.

It was so great being a part of this! Thanks for having me as always!
I learned so much from this video! Thank you for sharing this!
I appreciate you doing it 🙏🏼
Thanks for doing this, it was great getting to watch you show off the app!
@AaronBlaiseArt what brush did you use??
Dude draw way too much animals that I completely forgot how good he's at human anatomy
There is something satisfying about someone older teaching kids about tech. You don't see that everyday
Such a great point. Didn't think of that at first👍
He’s not teaching you about tech he’s teaching you about animation
It’s cuz they close to death so no reason to lie
Especially someone with so much experience doing it professionally or just has a lot of experience in general
Sure you do. The stereotype isn't true

Literally five minutes in and have taken so many notes. Opened up Procreate multiple times in the middle of it to look over my stuff and see how to help it
Aaron is so cool. You can tell his passion and love for animation is still as strong as when he started and it’s super inspiring!

There's nothing that this can do that Clip studio paint can't. And CS is also a full fat digital art software
Aaron is just the coolest, most down-to-earth guy, and he always does such an excellent job with instruction.
Watching proko videos is always a nice way to relax, with the aded benefit of learning a lot.
I just downloaded the software and your tutorial is by FAR the best I've seen so far. Thanks for taking your time not only to show how to use the software but also to go over basic animation principles. You're a true animation legend ^_^.

My two FAVORITE TEACHERS of all time… “Creature Art Teacher” & “Proko”! Can’t get any better than that!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
You can't not click a Proko notification when it says Aaron Blaise in it !
Pure talent. The lesson’s animation style reminds me of the large green beast in the 1970s Japanese anime titled Arabian Nights: Sinbad’s Adventures. It was a low-frame-rate animation, typical of that era, yet beautiful.
It’s so cool to learn from a true master ☺️
Yeah we need more animation videos
11:10, wow, this is amazing! I’m so excited to animate the short film I’ve been planning on here.
Yes! Do it! And share it with us on socials!
This is the coolest thing I have ever seen! Can’t wait for my new iPad to come in to give this software a try.
Enjoy!
This man is a legend.
Agreed!
HE'S LEFT HANDED JUST LIKE ME 🤜❤️
My left handed brother! Purchased and waiting for midnight. No sleep till the holidays!!
Good luck with the animating!!
Aaron is amazing love watching his streams
Im learning how to draw but animation seems like such a daunting task. So fun!
It can be! But Aaron shows a great way to break this down and make it more manageable.
Good luck with your learning!
@@ProkoTV thank you! Proko is the best
This is going to be insane as soon as we have liquify and a lasso tool!
Aaron is an absolute Master!
A master at work. Aaron a my second favorite artist, the first is
gotcha, just kidding I like many artists
I’m so happy to see this! Animation;is an art form of it’s own. I really need to learn more
I can't wait to try dreams out tomorrow!! This was so informative and it is always an honour to follow lessons by the absolute Master that Aaron Blaise is! I love how his love for animation always shines through and he is truly an amazing teacher💙
It was wonderful to watch in person! The app has so much potential and seeing what everyone makes with it is going to be amazing.
@@ProkoTV Exactly! It's gonna be the first good animation program accessible to pretty much everyone, and I'm here for it!
He really dropped a lot of great information in this video
I didn't get anything. I mean it taught about animation but not actually how to use the program
Proko and Aaron Blaise in one vid??? Hell yeah!!
You should check out our zoo drawing trip video lol
Here’s an animation I think of making.
Ciro.
A music only and Sound effect less Animation about an anthropomorphic cat getting separated from his mom while they were on a stormy boat ride. Leaving him to be taken care of by the family of a jackalope he makes a close friendship with.
Great work, Mr. Aaron, I think you should be called "Sir" in Animation. With love from Ethiopia.
This is such a useful tutorial! Love the idea of incorporating animation into the image. Thank you for sharing this! 🤩🙌✨
Amazing tutorial thanks Proko & Aaron ❤
Loooove the little penguin animation. ❤

Very inspiring thank you for your tutorial 🙏 technology is incredible
This is awesome 💯 just downloaded excited to make some new animations! Thanks for making this video!
Cant wait til tomorrow
I have no idea what I'm doing. But I've been learning and I'm excited.
That's one of the best situations to be in!
Wowwwww. What a time to be alive
Beautiful 💖 Can't wait for your course on Procreate Dreams 👍😍
I came for a demo, and got a lesson in animation....this dude is awesome!
can't wait to get the app tomorrow!!
Saw this at the Lightbox convention not long ago! Can't wait!!
Thank you, so much useful information and great questions
I can't believe Procreate Dreams is releasing tomorrow! So damn excited to play around with it, especially after trying it out at Lightbox Expo for a few minutes!

Great tutorial !
Good teachers do not assume you know the app. This was released today and this guy is into the details before he takes a step.

Wow that was unbelievably helpful for me
I wish it were as straight forward as procreate. It's a steep learning curve for me
I just saw Aaron in Cinema Therapy, it’s funny to see him here soon after that 😃
The animation is so good!!❤❤ Keep goin’!
thank you for the share :)
One more dayyyyy! Thanks for this
best channel ever!!! thank you so much
This is so interesting
Im so happy seeing this

Same xD
@@silver6071 I hope you’re having fun learning it!
Love this
great great thanks a lot
Love this! its truly amazing! the only downside is screen size. I hope there is 22' screen of ipad!
pure gold ❤❤❤
Can’t wait for midnight! 🎉❤ TH-cam is going to go berserk tomorrow.
It's going to be a busy few weeks of all Dreams related TH-cam videos out there lol
Softball questions
Wow Lefty brother ❤
13:19 those birds have old Disney all over it
What a masterclass. Can’t wait to get creating. How do you avoid your animation drifting in size between drawings?
A large part of that is handled by him getting those first key poses done before he goes in and draws the inbetweens. It allows you to do the big work up front with less drawings and see where your issues are before you commit to working on something with bad portions in it
The program looks amazing. I want to try it but I don't even have an Ipad yet. Lots of savings to make, I guess 🤣
I swear... Aaron Blaise is the Raid Shadow Legends of Animation
Just holding it down in the background lol
Hav 0 interest in animation but now im thinking about trying this out haha aaron is great person to sell this.
Unless its ipad only and not on android too
It is iPad only
In anticipation for dreams, I did an animation in the old inbuilt procreate thing for one 6 hour session and now spent all of my energy .-.
😂
So hyped
can we cut out parts of the drawing. theres no select tool
I find it so hard moving the time line for me. It moves the screen constantly instead of grabbing the frame
ITS HERE GANG.
Turns out it’s possible to ungroup a grouped track to add and change frames.
Finally, One more day.
So close!
so cool we have older masters that came into the computer age and can show people how to master the offerings....too bad in the future there will be less masters
awesome :0

Same here!
Have you ever used Sony’s Platstation DREAMS animation program ? I bought it for my son when it first came out and he’s really good at it.
Proko team member Stephen here! I used Dreams when it first came out to make a few games and really liked it.

@ProkoTV right on, I'm just trying to get a general idea of how much storage a short project may take. Thanks.
First guy asking the question was for sure from Quebec
the animation community finna go crazy with this 💀
Imagine procreate had this function, if you’ve draw the key frames it’ll predict or suggest the next pose to use 😅
It's not a Procreate feature but a lot of animation software has some pretty solid functions for doing the inbetweens, after you've drawn your keys.
Will definitely give Procreate Dreams a whirl. Thanks for the great video.
I have a “paper” like screen protector on my ipad, it feels a bit rougher like drawing on paper!
I believe Aaron uses a paperlike screen protector, as do I. But not fancy different grip or tip.
Though, those do exist.
Ele é fofo ❤
