Hey Everybody. Here is a Breakdown of how I made this Eagle flight scene. From painting in Procreate to animation and preforming in Procreate Dreams. Music by Dan Howell
I just discovered you today and I am more than thrilled. You have an amazing way of teaching that cannot be underestimated or underappreciated. Thank you so much for sharing and your work is so fantastically inspiring!
I rarely comment but You gave the biggest gem!!! Thank you so much for teaching us how to stretch the frames all at once . I used to pull up the frame on a new track to stretch them!! ONE BY ONE!!
I am learning Procreate Dreams alone in my home office and your video is helping me a lot in my process. I didn't know environment animation was that easy with the vanishing point lesson. Thanks again!!!
13:49 YOU SAVED ME SOOO MUCH TIME WITH THE COLLECTION. I knew, that I can put one finger on the iPad to stretch it out but always one! And always was wonder why it is such a long process. Thanks so much 😊😊😊
Wow!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I learned so much from this one video alone, and I’ve been using Dreams a lot ever since it came out. Thank you! 🎉❤
Thank you :-) The brushes I use are my own creations. I think the combo of Procreate + Procreate Dreams are where the big strength is! Happy you liked it.
@@imtheordinaryartist I often go for big canvas in Procreate. Forexample 12000 pixels wide or atleast 6000. Depending on how big a cameramove I wanna do in Dreams. When you then make a new project in Dreams I go for 4K. As you import from Procreate to Dreams, your canvas will be as much bigger than the frame, as it is in pixels. You just have to scale down your group with all content. If you know you dont want to do any cameramove or zoom in Dreams, you can stick to 4K in Procreate as well. Then it will fit the frame perfect as you import.
Nikolai, thank you so much for this. Procreate Dreams hasn’t been easy to figure out. You’ve helped and inspired me to try to do more. It’s a blessing to receive your knowledge, talent, and skills. I just subscribed and am looking forward to learning more from you. ❤
Completly agree. Bought it as soon as it came out. Used to AE and it was al a mystery to me in Dreams. My excitement was quicly gone. I will go and try again
At 05:25 you grab the same brush in the library. But (for everyone who don’t know that) you could just. Paint with the brush, than (WITHOUT changing or clicking anything) just hold the eraser or smudge finger for a while. And procreate will smudge or erase with the same brush and size as you draw. ✍️ sorry for my English, hope you understood what I mean 😂
@@jurileier I also keep forgetting about it. I use the quickmenu to switch from brush to eraser, and almost never go up in that menu. But with smudge I do tap the menu :-)
I teared up a bit at the final shot with the music out of awe. Looks like Procreate Dreams would benefit from having some actual animation tools for environment maybe, something that could set the vanishing point for all things inside a group and a ‘Z/Depth’ amount for a layer so that when moving ‘a camera’ it would know how much to scale it. Procreate has 3D capabilities with all the material painting (that seems to have stopped a bit on that front?), maybe some of that functionality can be used as helpers for animating in Dreams too.
Hehe, thank you :-) the music does alot! Yes, Dreams is still just the first version. Imagine what will come :-) If you compare the first version of Procreate with the one we got now, it is lightyears different. So we are in for alot of amazing tools in Dreams to come
Thank you so much for sharing with us Nikolai. With this I got a little more understanding on how I can make an astonishing animation like this. Looking to see more animation tutorial like this from you soon
I deffinately did man. thanks again. Been all day at it just to fail, but I will keep going until I get it right. Keep going your art is amazing and inspiring. hope to see more tutorial from you@@nikolailockertsen
The wings are animated with regular frame-by-frame animation. Classic animation. So, I was looking at birds flying and testing out different sketches of animation before landing on tis one.
Thank you :-) The camera is not really there, so you have to move all elements instead of the camera. In this one all elements (except the bird) is scaled bigger from the same point (you can set where you want the ancor-point) The closest elements are scaled more than the ones further into the scene. This creates the illusion of the camera move.
You are such a remarkable and inspirational artist. Would you be able or willing to share a similar tutorial for the project you did where the fox jumps into the water? Thank you so much. Amazing work.
Thank you :-) Yes, every element in the scene scales towards that point. And you deside where you want to have that point yourself. The important thing is that everything (except the bird) has the same ancor point placement. This point is to make it look like the camera is moving into the scene, and where you set your ancor-points is where the camera travel towards.
Wow!!! Merci pour votre démonstration!!! Vous expliquez bien les choses et comment vous avez fait votre montage! C'est vraiment TRÈS bien fait à part de ça! J'aimerais bien apprendre avec vous! donnez-vous des cours?
This is so amazing. I am going to draw along this illustration and post it on my instagram. I drew your subway scene and posted too. I put my character in there though 😅. I should have asked first like now??? I am not good with procreate dreams yet even with your extensive explanations.😅 If you don’t want me to post your work I drew then let me know, I won’t. I’m just a nobody who enjoys drawing a lot. 😅 Also I really appreciate you put this on TH-cam for free. I always love your work and learned a lot from drawing along but it took me a year to figure out how to do it.😅
In my opinion, yes! In Procreate Dreams you can also grow with the app and learn the new tools as they come out. And it already has much more than the basics.
Question: im very new to Procreate and procreate dreams. I made an animation using procreate and turned out pretty good for my level. However, i want to level that up by merging the animation to another drawing i made. Basically its an animation of eyes blinking, and i want to merge it with a face. But i cannot seem to merge it together. What am i missing?
I have animated blinking eyes a few times. And the most easy place to do it is Procreate Dreams. Becouse then you can have your drawing on one track and your eye-blink on a track above. Then you dont need to think about merging. You just use different tracks. Then you can frame-by-frame tye eyelids. You can import from Procreate to Procreate Dreams and put different projects on different tracks!
High motion filtering gives smoother motion. If you got a shaky hand and want unshaky motion, turn up motionfiltering. But if you want juttery motion on something or closer to exactly your preformance, use low motionfiltering.
For starters get something with a lot of ram and a lot of storage. Not sure how much work you’re planning to do but considering it’s animation like I said, you’re gonna want a very powerful laptop/PC. Something with a lot of ram, usually over 16. You’re going to want a lot of storage considering animation can be hefty. I personally don’t know anyone who uses a laptop for animation. Everyone I know, They all bought a PC or built one. But to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were gaming laptops out there that could handle animation. I would suggest if you’re looking for a laptop rather than a PC for animation try looking at high end gaming laptops. Hope this helps
Hi. I would go with 6000 pixels wide, than maybe 3500 high. Depends on the aspect you want. But keep it 6000 pixels on the longest side atleast. Then you got plenty of pixels.
Then answer is Yes! Any element you paint/draw, you can animate with transform, just like cutout. You can even give it a small shadow by duplicating your element - make the one behind darker with a HSB filter-key - and then blur and move it abit. Then group those elements and it can look like paper-cutout
