+Jess its kinda not really based on how much makeup, more like how much they rely on makeup or feel without it because she did say she had been wearing makeup since she was 12
+Sophie Tell me about it. I have this colleague who gets 1-2 small pimples the day before her period and always mentions/complains about it. Meanwhile, my whole face is at war: pimple galore, (almost) pimple free, pimple galore. It's gotten *wAy* better, but as a sufferer of dermatillomania it ain't easy.
I think you should do this again except maybe with someone that does a full face or someone that has a lot of acne. She really doesn't look different at all without makeup..
+It Macze "Asked a question". Lmao okay. Sure. I am confident, with and without makeup. Because you completely ignored what I just said, again, I asked for representation purposes. What I asked, was a simple question. What you "asked" was very rude and disrespectful. I don't "cake my face with makeup". Again, you don't know me. I think it's funny how you try to tell me that I'm not confident, but I very much am. Take a seat and leave.
"You look tired" Is one of the worst things to tell a girl without make-up! One: Because it's not you being mean, its just you proving you're so use to seeing girls with make-up that it makes you look like you think it odd to see us without it. Two: it can crush a girl's self confidence. Girls hide behind make-up all the time because they feel they are suppose to give a certainly look of perfection. Bags and crowfeet are natural and girls should be able to flaunt them just like guys :P
If a guy is used to seeing a girl look a certain way and the next day she looks different the guy will obviously notice a difference. And the point of make up is to make you look perky, perfect and hide bags etc, so when you take away all that and you look paler and your bags are showing that makes you look more tired than you normally do. Common sense really, if you never wear make up and next day you decide to wear it guys will tell you you look great, because it's based on a comparison of what they are used to seeing.
CabraLad No, people have said that to me and I only wear eyeliner. It doesn't have to do with the amount of make-up you wear, just with the simple fact that you wear it period. And your last few sentences proved my point. Just don't tell a girl she looks tired...EVER
If you feel that "You look tired" is a mean thing to say to a girl without make up then you are way too easily offended and overthink everything. And yes, I am a girl. If you have problems with your confidence to the point that "you look tired" sounds mean to you then the problem is within you, not with the person saying it.
I think it is an insult because if you have bags under your eyes and you usually cover them up with makeup then sometimes it can be insulting because you feel ugly inside
Tamar Mcadie No it is not an insult, I can guarantee you that when the person said it, they did not say it to insult you. If you take it as an insult then like I said, the problem is within you.
PoeticCorpse Yes I think it is an insult because if you say to someone ''you look tired'' you are implying that her face looks stressed and has bags under her eyes which people dont want to have bags and look stressed
going outside without makeup is like walking outside naked x) people who say that makeup is for impressing the opposite or same sex is shallow, some people wear it because they love themselves and not just to impress other people
You can love yourself if you take care of your organs and skin with the best food. I used to be like you but not wearing it put some money in my pocket and no I am not naked when I don't wear make up.
One day i went to school without makeup, and my friends (all guys) said things like "you look tired" "are you sick?" "Well... Girls look so different without make up..." and one girl said "you should use some eyeliner, you look beautiful with it". Okay guys. I know that I'm ugly but I have feelings.
Maybe those of us of the male gender just need some makeup education. Presumably the possibility that you could look tired because you weren't wearing any makeup that day didn't cross their minds. If those of us who don't usually wear makeup knew what you folks go through, hopefully we would be more sensitive.
***** I honestly don't know how girls find the time to do all stuff that goes with their regular routine. I can wake up, clean up, and be out of the house in 35 minutes.
You probably look tired or sick because wearing make-up blocks out the sun from your face, natural UV light is healthy for the skin. If you went without makeup for a while and let some UV rays and vitamins get to your face, it would start to look healthy. Did people ever tell you that you look sick and tired before you started wearing makeup ? If so, then self acceptance is your problem.
Cloud Strife Usually I just use eyeliner, mascara, and these things, just on the area of my eyes, so that's not the problem. I don't really look sick, but people see me with smaller eyes and shit and they think I have some problem bc I don't look like I always look like idk. And yes, I don't like my face. I know that's a problem, but hey! What can I do? "just love yourself geez" Oh! You're right! It's so easy! Why I didn't think about this before? Thank u
Hey, come on now, no one said it was easy, that's why you can get help, because it's not easy and you are not alone, it's really important you realize that, lots of other people live and have lived with things they don't like about their self. Your face is part of you, and will be for the rest of your life, wear it like a shield, accept it and no one can ever harm you with it. A shield protects you better than a `mask` you put on everyday.
+a vigilantes charisma Duh people want to feel good about themselves, I mean why would you want to hate who you are. And all she was doing was giving a compliment to her because the girl is gorgeous. I'm sorry you are oblivious and don't realize that NOT the whole world is full of attention seeking assholes, and there are good people out there.
I HATE these kinds of documented experiments because they always use women who do not have skin problems unlike the average women of the world. This make it seem like women are overreacting, sissy babies whose problems are only psychological. This is fucking bullshit. I am not afraid to admit that I am fully dependent on makeup. I am a wreck if I don't have my foundation, concealer and eye liner. I cannot look people confidently in the eye with my bare face. I am not as fortunate as this beautiful woman here whose biggest problem is 1 zit and a bit of dark circles. She did not wear much make up to begin with so naturally she still feels confident after removing her makeup. I have inherited double eye-bags, inflammatory skin, acne break outs along with acne craters and scarring. Then there are small Asian eyes that need to be drawn on to be seen. Without mascara my lashes and eye brows are non-existent, as if I went through chemo. I go from very mediocre looking to Victoria Secret model with makeup on, so why the hell would I want to go through life being mediocre? On good skin days I would not wear any makeup and scare the hell out of my mom and my girlfriends. They'd think I had an allergic reaction to something. So there, the problem is not psychological, it is very real. People react negatively to it, shocked and disgusted even. I cannot function in my job in which I deal with customers face to face if I have a bare face. I am not tucked away in a cubicle in a tiny office where only 20 people can see me. I have 500+ colleagues in my building whom I have to face everyday + many clients. Women like me have bigger balls than any man. Our imperfections are not on our body which we can cover up, no, it is on our face and you are staring right at it. But we deal with it by putting on makeup and then we get over ourselves. If you look like a tranny then I say to you; girlfriend, you really do not need all that make up. But most women need a bit of makeup to look healthy. Women are not blessed with good skin like men. The acne outbreaks does not stop after puberty; it is ongoing due to the constant change of hormones. Our skin is more soft and delicate so there is discoloration and pigmentation going on. We need a bit of make up to look presentable. It is oh so easy to judge from a privileged position. Men should really just butt out of this discussion and women should stop participating in these 'no makeup experiments'. It just make men think worse of women.
I know someone that has solved its skin problems and grown its eyelashes with the raw food diet. I had acne for about 11 years and after 2 weeks of 90 percent raw food, it went away.
I'm 12 and i have pimples! And i wear powder and concealer, but its all over my face, all of these other girls in school have a clean face, and it makes me sad :(
***** I use my case to make it obvious to people that the problems is not in our head. Sadly it is not obvious to you. The average woman do not have severe acne like me but they have had acne before which caused damaged their skin. Most women who come out of their puberty DO HAVE some kind of skin problem. It could be very minor like just redness on the cheeks or an uneven skin tone overall. But even that makes your face look weird, you look as if you are sun burnt. Or they can have small bumps and craters on their face. Or their complexion look pale or grey. These imperfections, major or minor, are at a place where people look at constantly so small problem becomes a big problem. Even if a minority of women have real skin issues, you are generalizing all women by saying that they should go without makeup which is BS.
Blonleyluv I've been told to change my diet for as long as I can remember. I stopped drinking milk, that has prevented more break outs. But all the vegetables that I was advised to eat did not help. It is unrealistic for me to have a diet that is 90% raw food. But the solution for skin problems is different for everybody since it has to do with your body and lifestyle. With the expensive serums and treatments I got, my acne is solved and my scarring is gone for 80% but my skin will never be presentable in day light. It is sometimes red, sometimes gray.
FashionGirlBeauty12 I've been there and it is horrible. I have little advise but to sit it out, it should stop when you're around 17 or 18. For now just use oil-free, non-paraben makeup products. And don't get lazy with your cleansing routine. Use makeup remover and then wash your face again with a facial cleanser. Don't use too much of the acne-spot treatment or it will dry out your skin. Use acne stickers to put over the spots that have popped to make it heal faster.
+TheCrazyMango82 agreed she didn't have a super big difference, where as if she normally winged her eyeliner or used bronzer or lipstick or contoured - wore make up where her face was much different WITH makeup - i would think this would have a bigger impact.
You're lucky there is very little difference between yourself with and without makeup. People wouldn't recognize me without makeup on. My eyebrows are practically clear, and I know how people react to non existent brows. People actually remove eyebrows from celebrities to make weird/funny looking images. Eye brows frame a face, and people with full brows have no idea what it is like to be self conscious about it. If someone shaved their eye brows, they'd want an eye brow pencil too. So it pisses me off when people brag about how they don't need makeup or girls shouldn't wear makeup. These same women that say they don't need makeup likely tweeze/wax/thread their eyebrows, so they are full of shit when it comes to acting like they are above it all. Men typically don't like the girls with big bushy uni-brows, so they are just as vain. People need to mind their own business and let other people do what makes them comfortable. Don't like a lot of makeup?-- don't wear it or date girls who do. That's that.
Well at least your eyebrows aren't two different pigments. For some reason I have heterochromia between both my eyebrows. One is very light blond, and the other is darker. No one notices it unless I mention something, but that doesn't mean they don't subconsciously register it. But meh. Life's fucked up, right? LOL
I actually kind of find light eyebrows attractive. They're still there. It's not like you shaved them off and drew on your forehead with a black pen... now THAT creeps me out. It creeps me out so bad.
I don't like the way makeup feels on my face, but I have light eyebrows and lashes, so I just dye them. It takes about 10 minutes for brows (about 30 for lashes coz brows take the dye really well) and lasts a long time. Just don't forget to outline with vaseline first!
As someone who doesn't wear makeup (seriously too lazy for it), I agree with you and say do what you want! Don't tell people they shouldn't wear it and don't tell people they should wear it. It's quite simple.
When i wear makeup i'm feelin more confident...idk why the cool thing about not wearing makeup is that when you rub your face/eyes and nothing comes off :3
+NEW AMERICANA You feel more confident because makeup allows you to create an artificially enhanced version of yourself. It's like real-life photoshop. But at the end of the day it's still just an illusion.
***** Yep, and it becomes a crutch as well. I've known so many women who couldn't go a single day without makeup, and wouldn't be caught dead outside of their house without first "putting their face on" lol.
Jayfeather SiJ Why girls should wear make up in the first place? I don't udnderstand . I hate when girls wears tons of make up just to trick me they are good looking while actually they aren't .
fucking oath, try an experiment like this with someone who looks like I do without make up and film peoples responses and comments. This girl is pretty without make up and doesn't really need it.
Some girls including me wear make up because they like putting it on, not just because they're insecure. I do look better with make up but I love actually putting it on and whenever I'm bored I like to put it on. It's a fun activity lol and I'm sure other girls agree with me with that one. It does help with confidence, but again.. some girls wear it because they want to, they wear it for themselves, NOT for other people and not to attract men
When girls say they like wearing make up and they think the process of puttin it on is fun i wonder what they mean excactly. I does not seem very fun to me (i'm a male btw). What possible fun could you find in this activity? I think boys and girls are indoctrinated into their gender identity. This means that there are certain activities and behaviour which you perceive as being inherently 'womanly' or 'manly', when they are really a matter of tought behaviour. When you were a little girl you were observing all the grown ups and categoirized their behaviour according to their sex. You observed quite possibly your own mother standing in front of the mirror and putting on make up. You saw her in dresses and high heels when the occation were a festive one. If it was not your mother it would have been the majority of other women anyways so the point is this: You are biological women, that is a fact, but where do you think that most of your ideas about what a women is and should be, comes from? My argument is that you 'think' that putting on make up is fun, because it makes you feel like your are being 'womanly', wich means, according to human beings distorted logic, that you are doing GOOD. But can you define 'good' for me? Because i dont think it is good to conceil you real appearance. I think it is dishonest, if want you want is to attract males. As a heterosexual male i want to be able to asses your natural beauty, because that tells me about your genes and that tells me if i would want to breed with you. If you are conceiling your flaws that is dishonest to me as a potential partner becasue i want my children to become beautiful and have good skin right? I would want it for their own sake. But this is a argument that i have to be careful with beacause its not just genes that cause skin issues. It also has to do with the bad effects of the modern western diets and lifestyles. But everyting is relative you know? If your are bored why not read a book? It certaintly makes you a more interesting and attractive person? At least i think so What do you think? Sorry for any bad grammars, im not native english speaking
mandola I wonder the same thing. I wonder "what possible fun could you find" in "boy stuff". I like makeup solely because it's fun and interesting to me. You cannot tell me otherwise for you are not me, and you do not speak for the entire femal race. You keep talking about wanting a partner who is naturally pretty and how reading a book can make a female more interesting and attractive. Are you assuming women wear makeup to impress men? That is just... extremely ignorant. Just because it is not fun for you (makeup), OBVIOUSLY does not mean it is not fun for others.
mandola I find applying make up very fun and relaxing. It has nothing to do with insecurity or impressing anyone. Whenever I've worn make up I go into this relaxed Zen mode. There is something really calming about putting time into something when you don't have to rush. Saying 'I don't think its fun so it must not be' is stupid and arrogant. I don't think cars and sports are fun but you don't see me making huge stupid statements. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. As you said above you're simply going off the thought of it. Proving you have no real idea or experience in this area so please hush now. The adults are talking.
Sofia Leanne I began my comment with the question; why do you find putting on make up fun?, and then I proceeded with my own hypothesis on the subject. The hypotheis was that you as woman who find the process and 'science' of make-up fun, do so because it makes you feel like you are doing what a woman should be doing. I am not telling you or other woman how you feel. That was why i asked the inital question - for you to answer truthfully about how YOU feel and maby some thoughts on why it may be that you feel this way or the other. You say that you wonder the exact same about why boys do 'boy stuff'? I think that is a great question. I could try to provide my own ideas on the matter if you'd like. What kind of 'boy stuff' were you thinking about? I am the type of person that think it is important to try and understand why we feel the way we do. I think most of us are, i'm just what can you say...kind of obsessed with it. It is totally fine if you are not. But if you want to have an honest and rational discussion with me on the subject you going to have to come up with arguments other than the 'i like it because its fun'. There are reasons to why. It always is. Saying "I like i because it is fun" is like saying "I'm hungry because i'm watering in my mouth" No you are hungry because you have not eaten all day. That is the REASON. Some reasons we are aware of and some are in the uncounscious or whatever. Some feelings have good, bad or neutral moral reasons and subsequently consequences. I'm not here to tell you what YOU feel or why. I am sorry if that's the way i came a cross. I just want to put forward my opinions and try and back them up with rational arguments. I think my argument was rational, you need too show me that it is not. And even tough an argument is logical sound (rational), applying it to reality often ist difficult and the conclusions can be unrealistic. Because reality is complex and there may be multiple reasons and motivations, both concsious and uncoscious behind the 'why'. I am not here to win a discussion or appear arrogant (or ignorant). I simply want learn about human nature. Talkin about multiple reasons. It kind of seems that i am talking about two reasons for wearing make up (only my hyphotesizes). 1) You do it because it makes you feel 'womanly' or maby 'feminine' on the surface and 2) You do it becasue you want to attract males. (2) does not necessarily mean that you litterally want men to look at you with 'lust'. It more often than not is meant for other women to see. But my argument is that is still really about showing other females (and males) that you can attract males if you want to. Just my argument - not necessarily the whole of the truth and not necessarily a bad thing. Things are not bad as long as they dont hurt anybody. When you make the selection for female breeding partner more difficult for males by conseiling you flaws, your children (especially daughters) are hurting for that decision. This argument does not mean that you were 'put on this earth' to breed. I have in my first response described why (1) makes you feel 'womanly'. Now i will give my thoughts on why that makes you feel good. In some way (1) serves (2). Feeling 'womanly' makes you feel attractive for males (only talking about heterosexuals here guys) because....that's just the way it is? I'ts not the only thing that makes you feel attractive, but see what i said about reality being complex, i dont have space to talk about all the reasons, motivations etc. Another reasons for feeling good about feeling 'womanly', or 'manly' for that sake, is because i think i makes you feel as a part of a social group. What group is that? The two largest social groups there is - women and men. Common demoninator? Shared experience of feeling 'womanly' and 'manly'. Wearing make up might be a social signal. "I'm a girl/woman and i wear make up to show that i want to be included into the female social group" Not wearing make up as female might be perceived as exluding yourself from the female social group. Off course not all woman have the same experience off what it means to be a woman and this is more in your own head anyways. But fear of being exluded from social groups is usually very decisive i think in determing many people's behaviour. But remember all of this im saying is only part of what I believe is the reality of your charachter. I have made some value judgements in my posts. I'm sure many will react negative to that. No one like to be told what to do and that is not mye intention either. But if I could not asses the moral consequences of peoples (i'm people too!) actions and beliefs there would not be point to any meaningfull discussion.
angelived "Saying 'I don't think its fun so it must not be' is stupid and arrogant" I agree, but i never said that. My post was probably skewed a bit to much towards the judgmental. I'm sorry if it made you feel like i was attacking you for wearing make up. I wrote a response to Sofia Leanne where i hope i made my self a little more clear :)
It took me YEARS to feel comfortable not wearing makeup in public. Even if I was leaving the house for five minutes, I had to put on makeup. And the things that made me feel like I always had to wear makeup, were the "harmless" little comments. "Are you high?" No, that's just how my eyelids are. "Woah, did you get any sleep last night? Your dark circles make you look like a panda." No, I've always had them. "You would look way prettier if you used foundation to cover your acne." Heavy foundation makes my breakouts even worse. "Why do you always wear makeup? It doesn't look natural." Oh, it's probably because I have no self confidence.
+Commander Derpchan That hapens because they always see you with make up. Or saw you with make up the first time. Just look at a guy that has a big beard and then shaves it. He will listen to comments because he looks diferent. Diferent isn't bad and the faster someone accepts how they look naturally the faster they will have the confidence to rock any look :D
I feel ya. I always wear foundation, even at the gym. next time i am going out, i will be make up free. I really want to get rid of my anxious side and be more confident about my appearence.
it's okay to wear makeup whenever you want if it makes you feel beautiful. but the whole thing "i don't wear makeup for the others i wear because i like it" well..then why you don't wear makeup in home too? when nobody can see you? i don't think that girls who have no intense to go out wear makeup just to see it in the mirror.. makeup helps with confident but don't say you just do it for yourself..
I agree with you, the majority of women do not wear makeup just for themselves- but I do hold the opinion that some do. Becuase I do. :) I could care less about impressing another person, so when I go out, if I wear makeup it usaully consists of just mascara or concelear on a blemish or too. But when I am home by myself, sometimes I will put completely make up my face, with eye shadow, eye liner, glitter- the whole yard- just to please myself and experiment. If I wear a lot of cosmetics out of the house- it's because I like the way it looks with my outfit, or I am feeling adventorous. I genuinely wear makeup just to see it in the mirror. :)
most people I have met in my life that prefer to wear makeup wear it at home too. Also I'm reverse I do fancy makeup @home and usually forget to put some on before I go out somewhere (except for job interviews in that one isolated case I am wearing makeup so employer sees me more favorably.) but sometime it does just make you feel pretty and yes sometime it's fun.
I agree with Celine - I'm a woman who wears makeup at home - not all the time, but frequently - and I did long before I was married. I enjoy playing with makeup (and didn't start wearing it until I was around 14 or 15 years old; I wasn't raised in a family that discouraged makeup, but I also wasn't conditioned to wear it.) I enjoy art, and use makeup as a form of artistic expression, a way to enhance my beauty, cover my flaws, play, and reflect or enhance my attitude and mood. There are also days that I wear very little to no makeup at all. Just because a person doesn't wear makeup when they're at home (when people are usually most comfortable, casual, and focused on things that don't involve their appearance) doesn't mean that they aren't speaking the truth when they say they don't wear makeup primarily to please other people, though. Makeup isn't always the most comfortable thing, and, although it can be fun to wear, it does take time, effort, and some level of willingness to be uncomfortable. That level of effort people make regarding their appearance is usually associated with getting dressed and leaving home. (Would you suggest that people who say they dress a certain way in public to please themselves aren't being honest because they wear pajamas or walk around naked at home?) There are often other tasks and priorities to take care of at home that prevent people from presenting themselves the way they would outside home. Most people use makeup as some form of expression, too, which is something you present to others to indicate how you feel on the inside, which isn't necessarily a priority at home.
Grace Everley Thank you for taking the time to let me know that! It's always nice to know that something you said made an impact on someone in a positive way. I hope you have a great day.
I never understood people who say things like, "I don't wear makeup for other people! I wear it for me! To have confidence." And they are terrified of even stepping out of the house sans makeup. Well, confidence in what? It's not like you can see your own face. It's obviously because you want to look attractive to other people. There's nothing wrong with that. I also hate how people say "You're pretty EVEN without makeup." or "You don't need makeup." when they compliment someone without makeup. That's like saying the rule is people need makeup to be pretty. If you're pretty, you're pretty. Makeup will not change that.
I personally wear make up for myself to feel more confident, but if I don't wear it outside the house my confidence is really low. This is because with makeup, I don't need to worry about red skin/bags/spots. I'm aware I can't see my own face, but not having to worry about what others think of my skin makes me more confident
Well, makeup could just be another thing in life but then suddenly everybody had two opposing opinions about it and there are those few who are the gray bit, either agreeing or disagreeing with both. It's under constant debate some some feel pressured about the mixed reactions. Bleh, it's a mess. Also, makeup can actually change people. Not drastically, but it can make one person look prettier. Have you not seen girls who have bad skin or struggling with unending dark under-eyes? Putting on makeup can indeed make 'em look like pretties. But props to those who don't give a shit about the lot of whomevers that care.
It would give the story more credibility if there was even a single iota of difference in the appearance of her face without makeup. I paused the screen at 2:04 and stared for a good three minutes. Still can't tell the difference.
Honestly same here. I can tell she's wearing foundation because of the slight, really slight, change in evenness of her skin tone but that's about it. This video needs someone orange with purple eyelids or red lips or something because really she wears next to no makeup or is one of those people who wear tons but work so hard to make it 'natural' that it looks like she's done nothing.
I don't wear make-up. I don't like it. I don't wanna look like someone else, I wanna look like myself and be able to appreciate myself the way I am. Pimples? Who cares? That's natural to have them, even if they don't look good. People should realize that make-up is not needed. People that are good will like you with pimples or without them. And if everyone around you wears make-up, it doesn't mean you have to wear it too. Love yourself the way you are. If you're pretty, you're pretty without make-up too.
I can say, I like my face but I always wear a little makeup (corrector, powder, sometimes a little mascara) when I go somewhere. Not because of the guys or anything, I just feel more powerful with that. That makes me feel more comfortable with myself. It doesn't hide a lot of my face, it just hides some tiny parts I wouldn't like to show everyone. With makeup I feel that I've got twice more beauty, and I like this feeling. I won't give up makeup ever. (Anyways, the people who are important for me saw me without makeup already and they don't care. I do it because of my - sometimes shiny - self.)
People wear makeup to be different I don't wake up in the morning and say to myself hey I want to look like that celebrity. Makeup is a way of expressing your creativity
I honestly do not like it when women wear make-up. If it is just a small touch to accentuate your natural beauty and features I wouldn't mind at all but if one starts to add a bit more then I would feel like I'm looking at a mask or a statue and not a person.
I think.... I wear make up to impress myself. Like, when i stumble upon a mirror and I look amazing i just thought 'hell yeah, i did well today' *fistbump the mirror*
chill people chill~ why is the decision of wearing or not wearing make up has to be such serious topic? it's just paint that you put on your face everyday to look nice, just like that shiny watch that is always on your wrist or your old favourite t-shirt your mom hates
Mee too. Its like a wear make up for interviews, parties and night outs with hubby. Naked face M-F i do my hair bring my personally and my brain. Never have felt conscious about my face BUT have always been conscious about my body if I gain weight I feel fat even when I was a size 0. We all have some sort of insecurities lets accept it. For my is my body, for some the face, some feel that they are not smart enough. I'm lazy to wake up early and do make up. But ill wake up at 5 to do a work out. Any day!
I think the video should be done again but do somebody who actually looks different without makeup. She looked almost the exact same with or without makeup. Some people have acne or bad dark circles which makes us insecure so we feel as if we have to wear makeup, she obviously didn't have these things to worry about.
I literally see almost no difference. Though since she is a redhead I'd assume she would have pale eylashes, so apparently mascara doesn't count as makeup? Either way, she's lucky she doesn't really need to put on makeup. I mean nobody really does of course, but what I mean is for some girls the difference is a lot more visible.
I wasn't wearing any makeup for the week, like I said! I'm Irish and Italian, so I have darker lashes (some are almost black, some are closer to brown). Not all redheads look exactly alike.
***** Oh that's interesting. I didn't want to imply that all redheads look alike of course, it's just that all red-haired people I know (guys and girls alike) don't have dark eyelashes so I just assumed you might have mascara on. And again, like I said considering the results you really should feel comfortable not wearing makeup form time to time, many people (like myself) really like freckles :)
true! i personally feel like it's the effect of everyone else wearing makeup so it makes you feel like an outsider. the look nowadays is the middle part with curly/wavy hair, cat eyeliner, full lips, fleek eyebrows, the whole kardashian package.
sweetplum My grandmother likes to say: don't cover up your youth with this sh-t, they say you look prettier with it but it's a lie, they just want your money!! Let yourself worry about that when you're old and actually ugly... but then, it will be a reeeal shame if you get there still giving a crap about your exterior and what others think of it.. (yeah, I have a badass as a grams
I might be a weirdo of a guy, but I think she looks more beautiful without the makeup. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that her artistic abilities to apply makeup is bad, I guess I just prefer natural beauty, which she has plenty of. Then again, I'm a weirdo of a guy who also prefers organic food without additives, real actors instead of cgi, a fit yoga body rather than breast implants, a run through the woods rather than on a tread mill.
Sometimes I'm kind of insecure because I DON'T wear makeup. I hate wearing it, and I feel like I look really pretty without it. The heaviest makeup I've legitimately worn out is red lipstick that I wear occasionally. My problem is, is that so many women wear makeup and put emphasis on it that I feel guilty for not wearing it. I don't like how I look with it, I don't like how it feels, I don't like how it makes me feel. I'm comfortable with myself and my naked face, but I feel so strange for not wearing makeup. Like an alien, almost. It's like I'm comfortable with something looked down upon. I'm 16 and I'm not planning on developing any kind of makeup routine. Is it really that strange to not wear makeup?
Autumn Bennett Hey Autumn, I am 32 and I don't wear makeup, ever. I totally understand what you're writing about. Sometimes, I too feel insecure around women who are wearing makeup and I still choose to go without it. Friedrich Nietzsche said, "The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." I believe that my skin is more healthy because of my choice to not wear makeup and it radiates like the sun. Women and men can choose to or not to wear makeup; whatever resonates within yourself is the right answer for you. Whether you choose to wear makeup or not in the future is totally your choice. As a 32 year old woman, I can tell you, it is definitely a challenge at times to go against the grain. But I just remind myself of a quote by Rumi, "The only lasting beauty is the beauty of the heart." So, daily, I remind myself to try to be a loving, kind and joyful person for myself and others and that's the best I can do. Namaste~
SAME I'm 18 and I hate how makeup feels on my face and how it makes me look, sometimes I fill in my eyebrows and wear a natural lipstick but that's it! And every girl in my school wears really heavy makeup like foundation, eyeshadow, eyeliner etc It feels wired to wear makeup but it also feels weird to be the only girl without makeup
I'm exactly the same. All the girls I know wear make up on a daily basis and go to high school with mascara and eyeliner and even my mom tells me that I could wear make up every now and then because there is nothing wrong with it. But I just don't get it, I don't feel pretty, I don't feel comfortable, it's like a see my face with make up and the only thing that comes to my mind is where did my face go and who's that person looking at me. I feel the same way you feel (it's even more surprising because we are the same age because I've never met someone with the same opinion).
Girl please. I'm 16 too and I wear makeup b/c I love it not to look like a different person . Don't feel pressured to wear it. I envy girls who don't wear a single ounce of makeup and feel completely normal so props to you :)
MrsBoogie002 That is interesting, but not relevant. Acne is produced when dirt, or dust gets lodged inside your pores, and irritates that area. If you wear make up all day, then you're gonna get acne no matter if it has anti acne properties, sun screen, or makes your face softer. Doesn't matter, it's still a powdered substance, even in liquid form, lol. Though, if you were to wear make up for short periods of time, and wash your face after say, 2 - 4 hours. Then, you may be able to wash the makeup out of your pores before it has a chance to irritate the skin. However, if that's the case, you do have a choice to make. Spend double, triple the money on makeup just to keep reapplying it, or go 20 hours without make up, 4 hours with.
Inspired! I like the end bit where she says it's more about how you hold yourself than what you put on your face. Very true. But how other people react to you affects how you hold yourself....
Not wearing any makeup takes so much courage, especially if you've used it for such long time on a daily basis. I had to go to school without makeup for one day only and i felt so naked and exposed and my confidence was so low. Is like been a warior and leaving your sword behind, it felt like that to me at least.
? I know you never said i was a guy...? I think you're a little bit confused bud. You called me a "useless woman" and I am now saying to you that I am not a woman nor am I useless. And neither are women. Praying for you. :)
when society is so fucked up to judge other because of acne scars, people like me rely on makeup so they won't be looked down because of physicial appearance rather than personality.
I love how a guy in one of the previous comments said "confident for what? other women? No then its for men." I didn't know a guy could be so sure of himself yet be so ridiculously self centered and ignorant. Have you ever thought for a second that we wear make up to feel confident for... wait for it... OURSELVES! Wow! What a concept! We as makeup wearers do it to make ourselves feel better! Strange how that particular guy could be so self centered about it and yet doesn't accept that women can be self centered about makeup too.
You can't even see your face for the majority of the time you're wearing make up, so explain to me exactly how make up is meant only for you. If a brand of make up was invented where only the wearing could see it, would you still put it on? The confidence you get is from knowing that OTHERS around you can see the effect that make up has on your face.
Why do you wear makeup? It's to feel better about yourself. Logically, if you want to feel better about yourself you must think something is wrong or there is something that you think others despise or dislike about you. If you wear makeup to feel better about yourself, it is actually being worn for others, whether it be men or women. If you thought it was something that others liked or didn't care about, there would be no need to cover it up. Right now, your logic is flawed. Make it better -_-
Andrew Tran We do wear makeup to make ourselves feel more confident. Yes, we don't see ourselves most of the time we are out and about, but when I have makeup on, you can just simply do what you're out doing. You're not thinking in the back of your mind, "Oh god, do they see my pimples?" It makes us feel confident in the sense that we know we look good, and we don't need to worry about anything anyone is going to say or think about or to us. At least that's how it is for me. I've never gone a day when I put makeup on to please someone else, or attract someone else's attention.
Andrew Tran Ugh. No it's all wrong. We wear makeup because we like how WE look with it on. I couldnt give two shits what people think of my face with or without makeup. If I think I look pretty, I feel good about myself. The confidence I get is from knowing that I LOOK GOOD, if you don't think I do, too bad, but I know that I look good. Please stop assuming the wrong thought about women who wear makeup without even bothering to get REAL information from women who wear it.
Andrew Tran you don't wear makeup. You have a biased negative opinion on makeup and the reasons why people wear it. Please don't try to put up an argument trying to convince me why I wear makeup when I know myself why I wear it. It's like telling someone they wear a blue shirt to appeal to people who like the color blue without even thinking that maybe blue is just their favorite color.
Here's the thing, coming from someone who so much makeup she needs an IKEA vanity with NINE drawers...trust me, we don't wear makeup for anyone. At least I don't. If I wanna sleep in & have enough time to brush my teeth & toss my hair up, my ass will sleep that extra hour. But, if I wanna get up, play with my new palette or try a new mascara, by God I will. People are seriously confused if they think they mean enough for us to care what they think. Ik some people care & it determines their daily life. But I will tell you I just wore a messy bun, glasses, no makeup with 3_ pimples thanks to my period to Kroger & I felt fine! Men, we don't do everything for you. You aren't that important. And ladies, wear it if you want or don't. Do you!
Yes. I was thinking the same. "They say that women were makeup because they are insecure. It is not true. I wear makeup to gain confidence" which means the same as "I am insecure"
I don't disagree with what this girl is saying, I just think that I have worn shit loads of makeup (realllyyyy heavy eyeliner and tons of white concealer to cover freckles and dark circles) everyday for years, I look completely different without it. When this woman was wearing makeup, she wore natural looking tones, pale pink lip gloss and some mascara. Any girl who wears tons of eye make up knows the dramatic difference it makes to your looks. I did recently go one day without wearing makeup, because I left it all at a friends house by mistake, and even teachers looked at me funny. I was asked if I was feeling well by a couple of adults, and my friend asked if I'd been beaten up or something, because my eyes looked puffy. (too much eyelid showing lol). So yeah.. Never again. With makeup I look absolutely gorgeous, and without, completely average and plain in every way, I don't have any stand out features what so ever. Why would I chose to be mediocre, when I can be perfect by my own standards?
The reason that people said that you looked different was because they were too used to seeing you put on way too much makeup. When you instantly stopped using it, they were confused. Doing that has exactly the same effect on people as a person getting contact lenses when they normally need eyeglasses to see. Also, what you see as plain and average looks honest and natural to guys.
i wear make up because of my acne. everyday is a pimple filled for me so i like to cover them. i didn't wear any make up til i was 20 and before then i was always made fun of or give disgusted stares before of the acne. people like to tell me that i just need to take better care of my face but i do take care of it, some people just can't get rid of acne.
Ciel Phantomhive yes it is something that cannot be easily solved... the pimples that come from not washing your face or eating greasy foods are not the same as cystic acne or any other kind that is genetic so don't let ignorant people make you feel that bad
Elizabeth Minott thank you. funny enough my mother thought the same way and just kept telling me that i had to wash my face more. my mother didn't know that the acne runs from my dad's side, in fact he still gets them now.. and he's in his 50s.
Ravio of Lorule aww i'm sorry. People just don't get that acne isn't something that can always be washed away with soap. It's genetic! I go to a dermatologist and it helps me.
kat S. sadly i can't afford to go to a dermatologist. well i did once like 5 years ago when i was younger and my parents covered it but even then my mother said it was too expensive for her to take me there again. i seem to have poor genetics because i also have poor eyesight and an overbite (okay i don't know if those have to do with genetics but that's still unlucky..)
Ravio of Lorule shout out to both of you and our nice little threadpost lol acne is definitely an annoyance i totally understand people who wear makeup to cover it up because well its an insecurity! i admit makeup helps me feel less vulnerable when i'm having a really bad breakout. i too got acne from my dads side but both my parents understand it's not something that i can change by just washing my face because they know the effort i put in.
Speaking as someone who, at the age of 24, can count on one hand how many times she's made up her face, I can say that when I get a pimple, I don't panic. In fact, most of the time, I forget I even have one, unless it is particularly painful. Thing is, if you don't draw attention to it, most people will never notice the blemish.
I would do the same but I have acne and scarring all over my face and that's a bit difficult for people to not notice. As much as I can try to accept it, it doesn't stop me from feeling like my face is gross. So these days I tend to wear makeup.
Exactly. I've only worn makeup like 3 or 4 times in my entire life. Once for my sweet sixteen makeup trial, my sweet sixteen, when I took professional pictures, and once for a formal event. I've noticed I never actually break out unless it's the day after I wear heavy makeup.
Mm she's lucky one pimple is all her concern. I don't have super bad skin, but I am break out prone. I almost always have at least 2-3 pimples.. I have a good amount of scarring on my cheeks. I can go with out wearing makeup but I'm always a bit nervous of running into someone I know and will not take pictures unless the scarring Is very minimal.
If thats you in the picture, your beautiful. And hey, I feel the same way, I just keep telling myself that everyone gets them. It's okay. Life goes on right?
Same here, if I go without foundation, especially during my teen years, people would call me freckle girl or tell me I should clean my face because I had some acne( and it wasn't even severe, just mild/moderate acne on my cheeks). So rude...
Alrighty... this is cool and all, and I totally see where you guys were trying to go, but it has its issues. Erin's bare skin is light, flawless, and virtually the exact same as her makeup'd face... It's a little unfair to slap the word "experiment" on this week when there was hardly an impact. Maybe try recreating this with a woman of color, a fat woman, a woman with acne. SOMETHING. I think y'all can dig deeper, Buzzfeed. We have faith in you!
Acne, I understand. Even a heavier woman I could kind of understand, especially now that the art of contouring is so popular. But out of curiosity, what does being of color necessarily have to do with wearing make up?
I don't think someone being heavier or being of color would make a difference as you stated, actually. Acne I can understand though. Everyone gets it, but the severity of it depends.
just because it didnt have a big impact on you , doesnt mean it didnt have a big impact on her though . and again - even if her bare face was nearly the same as her with makeup on to YOU , im sure she would feel very differently about it . since shes used to wearing makeup every single day , she knows every little flaw on her face. and when she got a pimple , she said she usually covers them up . so to not be able to hide an imperfection like she normally would , im sure made a big difference to her . i know i notice stuff about myself that other people wouldnt notice unless they were up in my face constantly , but i still feel the need to hide it just because i know its there - even if no one else does . so i completely understand how even just a little bit of makeup would make a huge difference in her eyes .
Is it rude if I say that she looks the exact same with or without make-up. I mean I noticed some VERY slight changes in her skin but other than that she looks the exact same.
A lot of people don't use as much make up as some think. I don't really use a lot, when I go without it the only difference you see is that my skin is not as smooth around my nose. The rest of the make up is eyeliner, but during the day is just a brown one to make them more noticeable without going for dramatic and some lipstick. Natural make up all the way!! Believe me, going for the whole red carpet look is not an everyday thing.
I think of make-up as a mask. I think of people who wear makeup insecure. Woman to to learn that your face isn't a coloring book. In fact the natural architecture of your face is way more beautiful than those makeup products you wear. I go everyday without wearing makeup, and yet people still compliment me. As humans, we are born to have flaws such as Zits and dark circles. It's unpredictable how so many woman want to wear makeup. It's like you were born with a bronze face and red lipstick. Stop being insecure because the beautiful You is right underneath all that makeup.
***** No, it's different... You *ARE* confident, you just feel *MORE* powerful!! Obviously you aren't confident, otherwise you would know the difference... Work on that and you'll see :)
just one question, how do you make words appear bold in youtube comments? so its just a hollow feeling of powerfulness but not actual power. so it all is just a big Facade.
When you`re rocking a heavy set of dark circles *no matter* how much sleep you get, going out the house without make-up takes a lot of guts especially when you know you`ll be asked whether "you`re sick?" or "you look tired" and my personal favorite "did someone die?"
Exactly! Most of the time if I don't wear concealer people ask me if I'm tired and think I'm sick. It's really annoying because some girls are blessed with these perfect under eyes and I'm just sitting there like😐
not really... i never shower in the morning. i have to wake up way too early for that. i'm the type of person that wakes up with just 5-10 minutes left to get ready :P
I wear makeup cause its fun to be something else im not going to be for the rest of my life, and its fun like art or drawing. I do it for myself most defiantly and for video tuts . With people saying girls do it for men do not realize that girls with boyfriends/ husbands and life partners still wear makeup XD
This experiment would definitely be more effective if it was conducted on someone with noticeable blemishes, scars, dark circles, etc. Personally, I look terrible without makeup because of the dark spots caused by my skin condition. So I already know that I'd get reactions if I went outside without it.
Wearing makeup should be a 'want to' situation not a 'have to'. If you feel comfortable in your own skin, that's the BEST thing that could ever happen to you. Go rock your bare face! BUT, if you like wearing makeup and it's uplifting for you, I'd say go for it. Just because it makes *YOU* happy, not because of the societal pressure.
I just realized while looking at the comments...but guys, you say women only wear makeup to impress guys, what about lesbians and people who don't like either gender? Where is your logic now?
I totally agree I'm asexual and, where I don't wear make up most days (mostly because lord knows it takes me forever to do it without my glasses on), when I do wear make up I do it because I like how it looks on me and I think it brings out my best features, like my eyes and my lips :) I could literally careless about what either gender thinks of my face. As long as I'm happy with it. :)
I wear lipstick everyday no other makeup just lipstick and the one day i went to school and forgot to put it on everyone asked if I was depressed or tired...Something of that sort XD !
She starts the video by saying not all people that wear makeup are insecure (which I agree with) and then proceeds to talk about how insecure she was without makeup.
Well, she was talking about her own experience. Many women, including myself, have a perfectly healthy perception of themselves, with or without makeup.
The problem with both these videos is that both girls have pretty decent complexions to start with, for people like me, with a face like corned beef, a little bit of makeup makes me look normal.
hyperbole is lost in youtube comments, but I do have rosacea so while I don't literally have a face that looks like corned beef I do have high pigmentation and an uneven complexion
SuperMe Lol, I know you don't have corned beef face. I just found the anology very amusing. Hopefully you can acquire a dermotologist that can make you feel a little more comfortable.
I don't think there's a 'problem' with the video, but I get what you mean. I have tired looking skin if I don't wear makeup (uneven, a little sallow) so I can't be as confident as other girls who go makeup-free and have great looking skin.
I have the same problem. If I don't put on foundation people would walk 10 feet away from me, afraid that they might catch whatever rash I have on my face. I need my foundation to not scare people above all.
I don’t understand why people get offended if someone says them: “You look tired”. I mean, you could look tired and still be pretty/handsome. We are humans: we show emotions, and we get tired. That’s what faces do: show emotions. Deal with it. ❤️
as a guy let me say this: make up works only for when you first meet someone. You see them from the corner of your eye and you notice them earlier because they have a more colorful face and you see their eyelashes and all that stuff because it's exagerated. It makes someone look more interesting from a distance. But when your up close all that really doesn't matter. Make up or not, most guys don't care. When your standing close to someone you see the person underneath the make-up no matter how much make up they wear. That's why boyfriends don't care if his girlfriend wears make-up or not. We see through that (hugely expensive) shit :) don't worry girls, we like you just the way you are!
You don't look that different with or without makeup. I feel like the one thing that girls do make look really different with make up is their eyes and that's why sometimes they get the 'you look tired' without it. When I see someone with or without makeup it's always the eyes I notice not really anything else and sometimes it shocks me honestly, but I think almost always I end up being indifferent in my feelings towards someone with or without eye makeup. The first of the face I feel looks betters without make up almost for sure, I like seeing imperfect skin because it always looks more real which is better. I'm attracted to human women not foundation.
One thing I missed, being a dude I don't really know a whole lot about makeup. But I feel like girls should leave their eyebrows alone or just trim them at most. If I had to pick something I don;t like seeing on girls in terms of their make up is crazy eye brows that you see alot of people have. Eyebrows are really something that I think girls go in a direction they think is perfection but they miss it completely. I trim my monobrow that's it, I'm assuming girls may have to do more trimming then that especially if they have bushy eyebrow but don't go to the extreme, less is more. I almost feel guilty for writing this because it's like I'm telling women what to do. But am I really a jerk for telling girls that I don't think they really need to try very hard at all to achieve an appearance that I think is great. Really to me all you have to do is stay relatively fit (and I don't mean having a thigh gap or anything like that you can have a belly and still be mega sexy) and do good things to your hair ( hair is something to me almost all girls consistently get right so I appreaciate the work they do). Everything else just chillax about, freckles pimples and etc are all amazing.
i always went for the natural look. a little bit on concealer on eye bags and the redness around the nose, mascara and some lipstick to avoid having white-almost-lips. its not that i dont like make up, the foundation just feels wrong on my skin. however i do like to put that extra shadow or eyeliner when im going out dressy. it really is more about how you feel. i dont like looking like im dead (ive very fair skin) but i also hate the tons of make up other girls use. if you use it it should be by choice, not the feel of obligation to look pretty, but who can judge the reasons a girl uses make up? its like clothes- you were what you find makes you feel the best.
I honestly couldnt see any difference of her with makeup and without! I havent gone to school for one day without wearing makeup, and i dont think i can.. Theres something specifically about my asian eyes and features that makeup really changes.. I wear tons of eyeliner and it honestly changes my whole eyeshape. And i KNOW all of my friends would know and comment that I wasnt wearing makeup. I really look completely different without it, so i dont think i can go to high school without makeup..
Just wear less eyeliner then cx Make it thinner a bit at a time c': Therefore if you were to not have it on, I think people wouldn't really notice as much
I like my face. I like my face with concealer. I like my face with powder. I like my face with lipstick. I like my face with mascara. I like my face bare. I like my face. And I (and you) shouldn't care what OTHERS think of your face. Because at the end of the day it's your face, and nobody can tell you what you should and shouldn't do to it.
I'm a dude and two months ago i started to wear eyeliner. Since then I've felt so much better about myself, it's like i'm wearing a mask and hiding, but at the same time expressing some hidden part of myself. Love it - now just need to pluck up the courage to wear it when i visit my dad
I'm fifteen, and after my birthday I started wearing make up... for a week. I am very self conscious, and the make up only made me feel worse about myself. I didn't want to start liking how I looked, just because I had my face covered in powder and paint. I feel much better without it. I can rub my eye without looking like a racoon after, my acne isn't too bad since I don't have make up clogging my pores, and I feel more comfortable. :) So a week after I started to wear it, I quit.
I really like your comment BC a lot of other girls who don't usually wear makeup kind of were bragging about why they hate makeup. I like your comment because it is positive and has a good outlook. You go.
Yeah, it's how I felt with experiences with makeup too. I still like wearing makeup from time to time though, but the restriction of not being able to touch my face is difficult
I personally don't wear make up. The last time I wore make up was two years ago for my high school graduation and it was forced. I will say that I hate how so many people think that the only reason a woman would make up is because she's insecure. It's just a form of expression. You may wear to cover something up but just because you wear it doesn't mean you don't like how you look.
yeah sure, for someone like you that's still pretty whitout make up, as for me i will NOT stop wearing it, i wish i could, but if i do ppl will judge cuz that's what ppl do, and it affects when you want to geta job and almost all aspects in life .__. so yeah. i wont stop.
Is that profile picture of you? If so then you have nothing to worry about. People judge folks who wear make up just as much as they judge folks without. Don't try to impress the common crowd, they're stupid and insatible. Most job offers will only look at your records and capabilities unless you're looking for a job where you hope to use your sex appeal to an advantage. If the job doesn't hire you simply because of your looks, then you probably shouldn't work there in the first place.
Agreed. If you're pretty then some people would start saying "you're so beautiful naturally without makeup" then someone who is considered "ugly" it's "omg you ugly piece of shit put on some makeup".
Aickavon. believe, where i live (Argentina) even if the job does not requires that i have contact with ppl, looks still gives you a lot more probability over other ppl of getting the job (sorry for my bad english xd)
hahaha it's okey, it's the truth anyways. this country sucks in that aspect (and a lot others) so That's why I'm studying a career that allows me to leave as soon as i graduate :)
Last year I didn't wear makeup to school one day and I felt uncomfortable at first, but then I started feeling confident, like I looked fresh faced and pretty. Then my friend told me I looked like death. I'll never forget it.
I REALLY FEEL THE NEED TO CLEAR THIS UP! I have seen a lot of comments about how its bull shit when ppl say "I wear makeup for myself. Makeup doesn't just " make you look pretty" its a fun way of expressing you and your personality. I'm a(n) (pround) emo so I wear lots of eyeliner and nothing else! I cannot tell you how many times I have heard "but you are so pretty without your eyeliner!" "Wow... That's a lot of eyeliner." "You know your not supposed to wear that much... Right?" And all that. It really hurts when ppl say these things, because makeup really does give me confidence, I am happier with it. I'm tired of hearing these comments on my makeup but I refuse to wear less because its how I show who I am. Its not a matter of insecurity
Are there ANY other 20 year old girls out there who don't wear make up at all? I'm starting to feel like im really the only one....=\ I have nothing against it, I admire people who are talented at it, but it's just never been for me. I hate the feeling of make up on my skin, like a mask, and I so don't have the patience in the morning to wake up early and put on my face...Idk. Does that make me weird? Is there anyone else? I definitely have tons of insecurities about my body, but I've grown very comfortable with my face the way it is, I guess.
are you a student at all? It can be hard once you start work not to wear make up- many business places see it as part of looking professional for women, the same way men are often required to trim/shave their facial hair. Not saying that's right or agree with it, but just that it's a big reason why women find it hard to stay make up free. I used to work for Safways (supermarket) and they had photos showing what makeup female employees should wear and how to apply it, it was part of the uniform. Anyway congrats- I think your stance is fantastic! :)
I'm not 20...but I don't wear make-up when a lot of girls at school. Don't. I agree with you, I feel like it's a mask and I'm insecure about my body...but I don't see the point of using lots of money on make-up when I could buy some chocolate or something instead.
I'm 23 and I hardly ever wear make-up. Maybe for parties or special occasions but then it will only be mascara and eyeliner. My skin isn't bad and every time I've tried to wear foundation it looks much much worse than my actual skin. I could see how the work thing and make up might affect each other, but honestly, I'd just wear make up for the job interview and maybe the first day and then I'd return to my habit of getting to sleep longer :3
I'm 20 and I don't wear make-up at all. I feel like I'm the only one too. I only wore a face full of make-up for a photoshoot my mom wanted me to be in (family photo?) and the make-up woman just really packed it on - it didn't even last half an hour before I went to the sink to wash it all off. Never again (I was 16 then). I have always been more worried about my body - not to say I'm not interested in make-up, I actually really want to wear some since some is really pretty but I don't think I'm there yet.
Not 20 but i am 18 and i dont wear makeup. Its not that i dont like to its because i cant. Besides makeup takes a lot of time and effort. Sometimes on some special occasion when my friends/cousins/family do my makeup i get way more compliments than my cousins who wear makeup regularly. Ps. the girl in my profile pic is not me...
Not wearing makeup is awesome, gives me 10-15 min of extra sleep in the mornings :) plus I know no one really gives a shit about my acne so that always helps :)
Anyone else catch that contradiction at the start of the video? Listen carefully to the red haired girl at the beginning. She says the wrong assumption about people who wear makeup is that they are insecure, or self-conscious or vain. She then says in her experience that wearing makeup gives her confidence...which is a contradiction to her first statement since if wearing makeup gives her confidence then NOT wearing makeup wouldn't give her confidence, also known as being insecure.
When girls say "I wear makeup for myself, it makes me feel confident". As men and women, are we not trying to attract the opposite sex? As a man I can truthfully say I try my best to look good. I do this to become more attractive to females. Yes, I also receive confidence via self image. However, is confidence not a main attribute to how attractive one is? I feel it is in our human nature to attract one another. If you wear makeup for "confidence" whom are you trying to be confident for, strictly women?
It makes up feel more confident, like the adulthood equivilant of a lucky shirt or necklace. (Please tell me I wasn't the only one who had a lucky necklace.)
I can't speak for anyone else, but I want to be confident in myself so that I feel more confident in everything -- my job, my decisions. I don't think makeup is about attracting people at all, for me at least, it's so that I feel better about myself. (Much like a new haircut, or a nice dress can boost your self-esteem.)
I wear makeup for myself to boost my confidence, because I think I'm ugly without it. I SOLELY wear it for confidence. I'm asexual so I don't wear it to impress men, or women.
Hey, another ace! I don't personally wear makeup when I need a boost, I wear one of my 'lucky necklaces'. But if I did, it would not be for potential partners. It's kind of annoying that people forget or just don't know that we exist.
I like to feel confident so I feel like the best version of myself that I can be, and makeup achieves that. Also, it makes my eyes look amber when I use the right colors.
"that they're insecure, or self-conscious, but that hasn't been at all my experience - if anything makeup gives me confidence" wait what, that literally just proved the point. If you are insecure about your appearance, and you put on makeup to cover up, you feel confident after. Lol k
It makes me a little sad - and a little angry - but mostly just sad that so many thoughts, so many worries, so much anxiety, so much pain, and so much discomfort go along with how you look. I do it as well, but I try to stop myself. Why do you care so much? There may not be beauty in everything, but there is beauty in all life, in all faces, and there is beauty in you. Don't forget that.
What annoys me is that this woman obviously wore make up ALL THE TIME in this video. I admit it was cleverly done, but you can tell if you know where to look. What natural red head has naturally dark eyelashes? She also definitely wore something to even out her skin tone. The dark circles under here eyes were practically non-existent all the way through. Also: where was that pimple? Speaking as a, if I may say so myself, rather good looking woman with actually very good, healthy skin AND fellow red head: no-one looks that amazing without make up on. The only thing this video proves is that make up products are getting better and better, because this woman looked both stunning and natural.
I paused it at the with/without makeup picture and for the life of me I can NOT tell the difference. They should've used a girl who actually wears a decent amount of makeup (blush, eyeSHADOW, eyebrows, the works) this girl basically uses mascara and a tinted moisturizer.
Girls wear makeup only because society says its 'beautiful.' I believe your beautiful either way. But if you don't want to wear makeup, it doesn't make you any less beautiful. Everyone wears makeup for different reasons, but whether you wear it or not, you are beautiful.
There's a lot of reasons to wear makeup. I'm not insecure with or without it. It's not because of society or whatever, it's because it's really freakin fun! XD
+Malaika Nichelle I'm just saying that some girls Don't feel beautiful, because they're not wearing makeup. If you like wearing makeup then that's good. I'm not against makeup. I didn't mean to sound like I do. I'm just saying that, if you Do Not wear makeup. you are still beautiful.
I'm wearing makeup because of my acne.. I can't go out my house without it because my face disgust me otherwise... I like to put it on but it can also be so freaking annoying seeing your pimples getting out as the day goes on..makes me so insecure I can't even but thanks for that :)
You look beautiful without makeup. I`ve been going without makeup for a year now and I can tell you that makeup really does not make a difference. I still feel just as beautiful as when I wore it and nobody seems to notice a change. It is liberating not to wear makeup and I hope you continue to do so.
Did you girls seriously not get ANYTHING out of this video? Strangers dont give a shit how you look and the people you associate with dont give a shit how you look. The world is not going to stop if you get a pimple or have dark circles around your eyes.
I'm gonna get so much bullshit from this from angry feminist. But it's true. I dont understand why woman think other people give two shits if they have acne or whatever reason they feel the need to wear makeup. Dont get me wrong, Im a cosmetology student so I wear makeup and all that myself. But not EVERY SINGLE DAY. I dont wear it to school, I dont wear it to the gym, Im not wearing it out to shop for groceries. Unless Im going on a date or something, I avoid it. I know how awful it is for your skin and it's ridiculous that some ladies feel the need to slap it on every day to feel pretty. It's seriously the source of a lot of skin issues. And nobody is going to care if you wear it or not.
I find it interesting though that you say it as a makeup artist, Lulu. But it's a pleasant surprise, I just wasn't expecting it :) I want women to enjoy themselves with what they like, which may be makeup, but just not be dependent on it.
LuLu Renee i agree with you. In the end no one is gonna effin care if your wearing make up or not. You're probably never gonna see the person ever again that you saw on the street or at the mall. But i still wear it anyway.. :/
Erza I do to. But in moderation. And I try to keep it limited to the eye area. And if I use any kind of base, it's a BB cream. Foundation feels so icky to me lol
LuLu Renee omg same. Like i never wear foundation. I just feel like theres so much stuff on my face. It feels really uncomfortable. I only do eyeliner. My sister wears like everything, and i tell her, your just wasting soo much make up...you don't need to put all that. And foundation make you age. :/
(I'm a girl the user name is the name of a book character) Anyways, when i was in 7th grade i liked to put on a little bit of eyeliner, people said i looked older. Anyways i've stopped wearing that because- i'm too lazy to even put on eyeliner, and it never stayed on. Recently i proudly admitted in class how i never wore makeup and some guy says "Yeah right i remember you wearing TONS of makeup." and honestly that pissed me off so much. XC it was a little eyeliner- meanwhile the girl next to me sits with her bright lipstick and tons of mascara and nobody says a word to her
idk why but i related to her so much and how she said that it affects you more than it does other people like how she always thought it would do the opposite really was an eye opener
There was this good lookin girl that i liked One day for some reason she didn't have any makeup on She had all these red little spots on her face and that just made her unattractive (just me i don't know about others) but she was Still my friend. I just put all the dirty thought in my head with her away. But I swear THIS is one of the BEST things about being a guy No makeup, No cycles, no pregnancy, no boobs, short hair, easy fashion
EASY FASHION ? ! You kidding me ?! I see my brother struggling with his choices of clothing because he doesn't find something that he likes. Yeah fashion is quite easy like "a simple t shirt and a jean , and it's done" , but tbh, every guy have the same appearence bc of that. I have a gay best friend and he's into fashion a lot and believe me, men's fashion isn't a t shirt and a jean, that stuff is for lazy guys or guys who don't give a shit bc if you want to look good in your clothes and even just for you , be a little different , it's HARD. Well, for my best friend it's not because he follows his own fashion he's a little avant-garde so, ... And he's gay so there's no problem but when a guy truly follows fashion, it's difficult for them I assume bc it's not cheap, it's fucking expensive, and if they don't do it right they look super good but no girl is willing to date him even if they're drooling over him bc they think he's gay. Now short hair... Not all guys have short hair... I know a lot of guys with complicated haircuts, or hairs that can't be tamed, or long hair and gosh, I can't imagine what it's like in the morning... Yeah no make up okay, but even if you don't have boobs you still have balls and surprise boners. And just so you know, guys don't need make up so, it's fair enough that if guys think those things about girls with pimples of freckles or whatever, it goes the same way when a guy is dirty, or has pimples everywhere, but we judge the first time we see them. So next time, try to ask yourself if you have those kind of problems before judging a girl who has. Right ? We are all humans. Girls have just make up on their side to look good, and WE therefore choose who we date. Think about it. You don't see it, but if you're crushing on a girl , she KNOWS. If she act like she doesn't she's not interested for the moment, but when she's finaly flirting, SHE decided to let you in her life. ;)
Bumble Bees I'm not getting angry, I'm surprised he says that men have it easier, so I try to explain why. I sound angry in your head because it's hard to know without smileys how the person was talking.
Ludivine Moonkind No, you sound angry because you said and I quote, "EASY FASHION ? ! You kidding me ?!" I just yelled that and i sounded so angry I put myself in time out.
next time you should try someone who wears heavier makeup on daily basis
+Denisa Allen yes ! that's what i was thinking. she wears just some mascara and foundation. not a big deal
+Denisa Allen yes, like a person who bakes their face should do this
i agreee
+Jess its kinda not really based on how much makeup, more like how much they rely on makeup or feel without it because she did say she had been wearing makeup since she was 12
emanzeekhan well yes you're right, but that's just what i was thinking about first, that she seems not to wear a lot of makeup
Is there anyone else who doesn't wear make-up on a daily basis, but enjoys just putting it on for fun or trying out new styles?
I don't wear makeup at all. I only wear it on Halloween and on party occasions
Tabitha Akers me yus!
Oh yes, I once tried the joker style! Hell yeeeh I don't regret a single thing.
Me🙌
Me!!
I hate when people say "I have a pimple". My entire face was covered with pimples for years.
I still do 😞
+Sophie Tell me about it.
The same thing happened to me! 😢
Clara Høher Don't worry, I don't hate people who say that, I just hate it when they say it, that's completely different. :)
Clara Høher No problem, maybe I shouldn't have used the word hate. ^^
when she said about the pimple... duude I have acne and I would be the happiest girl in the world if I only had one pimple
same
Why
me too
I get one pimple EVERY YEAR.
Yes, I am lucky
*insert some lame comment about how people without acne struggle too here*
they should've chosen someone who doesn't look the same with and without make up
thats because she is still wearing make up lol
+Gabriela Ayala No, she's not. But, okay.
Yes she is, you can see the mascara in one of her "no makeup" selfies. >.
Aenwyn Oh, yeah? May I ask which selfie?
I think you should do this again except maybe with someone that does a full face or someone that has a lot of acne. She really doesn't look different at all without makeup..
+It Macze "Asked a question". Lmao okay. Sure. I am confident, with and without makeup. Because you completely ignored what I just said, again, I asked for representation purposes. What I asked, was a simple question. What you "asked" was very rude and disrespectful. I don't "cake my face with makeup". Again, you don't know me. I think it's funny how you try to tell me that I'm not confident, but I very much am. Take a seat and leave.
+Laura Chai Like you?
Common sense really, if you never wear make up and next day you decide to wear it guys will tell you you look great, because it's based on a comparison of what they are used to seeing.
to an extent with the bags and crows feet. At a certain point it gets weird for everyone
CabraLad No, people have said that to me and I only wear eyeliner. It doesn't have to do with the amount of make-up you wear, just with the simple fact that you wear it period. And your last few sentences proved my point. Just don't tell a girl she looks tired...EVER
Guys don't say it 95% of the time but we do notice it. I'm not trying to attack your ideas or anything, I'm just giving a guys perspective.
my colleagues said " you look so pale. are sick?" really guys? that makes me feel more ugly without make up on :(
she looks exactly the same with and without makeup
Wut I was thinking
same xd
PoeticCorpse
Yes I think it is an insult because if you say to someone ''you look tired'' you are implying that her face looks stressed and has bags under her eyes which people dont want to have bags and look stressed
PoeticCorpse
Yes but what I'm saying is it could be an insult and people could be insulted
Tamar Mcadie lol well you do look tired deal with it
going outside without makeup is like walking outside naked x)
people who say that makeup is for impressing the opposite or same sex is shallow, some people wear it because they love themselves and not just to impress other people
PREACH!
***** hey it's Erin The Rose, is that Spanish last name?
KingBongHogger you're an idiot. You do you feel the. Need to put others down?
OH MY GOODNESS YOU'RE PERFECT WITH AND WITHOUT! YOU'RE SUCH A LOVELY BEING!
Please stop lying you just want likes
+MrLizlovesmileys so right
+Angelina Wehrman oh ya
im sorry but not the world we live in today. 90% of the population want to be recognized for something that makes them feel good
+a vigilantes charisma Duh people want to feel good about themselves, I mean why would you want to hate who you are.
They should do this with someone who actually looks bad without makeup
Because honestly, she looks basically the same wig and without it
SO. JEALOUS.
TheCrazyMango82 *with
not wig
+TheCrazyMango82 agreed she didn't have a super big difference, where as if she normally winged her eyeliner or used bronzer or lipstick or contoured - wore make up where her face was much different WITH makeup - i would think this would have a bigger impact.
+StarBunny550 we get it everyone makes mistakes
JupiderPlays // Minecraft Yup!
StarBunny550 :)
But I don't do anything to my face except brush my teeth.
I mean, I may wash it with soap when I have a shower, but nothing past that ._.
When i wear makeup i'm feelin more confident...idk why
the cool thing about not wearing makeup is that when you rub your face/eyes and nothing comes off :3
I think the confidence comes from the extra time we spend on ourselves, you know?
Alice Wiswell probably :3
+NEW AMERICANA You feel more confident because makeup allows you to create an artificially enhanced version of yourself. It's like real-life photoshop. But at the end of the day it's still just an illusion.
***** Yep, and it becomes a crutch as well. I've known so many women who couldn't go a single day without makeup, and wouldn't be caught dead outside of their house without first "putting their face on" lol.
yaas haha that is so satisfying
I'm a girl and I never wear makeup and I hate those who say I'm ugly just because I don't give a shit about makeup -.-
yeah neither do I.
your not ugly and when your 40 and look 20 because you don't wear makeup those bitches will be jealous
nether did i
kudos to you
Jayfeather SiJ Why girls should wear make up in the first place? I don't udnderstand .
I hate when girls wears tons of make up just to trick me they are good looking while actually they aren't .
Now please try it with an ugly one.
hahaha
but, I never saw make-up save anyone from being ugly...any celebs examples? thanks!
tequila col gaga. not that she's pretty with it either - but omg without it.... yikes.
Ellidegg
She looks like me.
fucking oath, try an experiment like this with someone who looks like I do without make up and film peoples responses and comments. This girl is pretty without make up and doesn't really need it.
She's ugly. Haha just kidding. Beauty is so subjective isn't it?
But if I could not asses the moral consequences of peoples (i'm people too!) actions and beliefs there would not be point to any meaningfull discussion.
angelived
"Saying 'I don't think its fun so it must not be' is stupid and arrogant"
I agree, but i never said that.
It doesn't look natural." Oh, it's probably because I have no self confidence.
yeah i have no self confidence too i'm still trying to get some but hey you're beautiful wit or without mkaayy i love you stranger have a nice day :3
+Commander Derpchan That hapens because they always see you with make up. Or saw you with make up the first time. Just look at a guy that has a big beard and then shaves it. He will listen to comments because he looks diferent. Diferent isn't bad and the faster someone accepts how they look naturally the faster they will have the confidence to rock any look :D
+Commander Derpchan Same hun. I'm slowly easing out of it rn. Pale skin + dark circles combo makes me look like death tho
I feel ya. I always wear foundation, even at the gym. next time i am going out, i will be make up free. I really want to get rid of my anxious side and be more confident about my appearence.
it's time to hajima I’m gonna be that person that’s just gonna tell you that your username is goals lmao
it's okay to wear makeup whenever you want if it makes you feel beautiful. but the whole thing "i don't wear makeup for the others i wear because i like it" well..then why you don't wear makeup in home too? when nobody can see you? i don't think that girls who have no intense to go out wear makeup just to see it in the mirror..
makeup helps with confident but don't say you just do it for yourself..
***** Reading this comment actually changed my viewpoint on the matter. Well stated. Thank you for sharing :)
Well said! I completely agree with you ;)
I personally wear make up for myself to feel more confident, but if I don't wear it outside the house my confidence is really low.
Yes they can see their own face, ever heard of a mirror lol? Or a front facing camera on their phone
Sshhhhhh Stop using logic against a feminist...
This video needs someone orange with purple eyelids or red lips or something because really she wears next to no makeup or is one of those people who wear tons but work so hard to make it 'natural' that it looks like she's done nothing.
i guess it really is for confidence. i don't see shit, it's like a placebo effect.
So did I. Not much difference before and after.
oggyreidmore Its because she is still wearing make-up. No joke.
zenkaipower If she is still wearing makeup, why are they wasting our time?
the worst thing somebody can say is "you look tired"... somebody is living a sheltered life.
Nevertrustaduck Its even harder when the damn nurse at the hospital asks if I'm normally this pale. YES. I go by the shade death.
Nevertrustaduck lmao
Tóth Enikő I get your point but I still think make-up is a bad thing. But it is your body so your choice of course :)
People wear makeup to be different I don't wake up in the morning and say to myself hey I want to look like that celebrity. Makeup is a way of expressing your creativity
Melanie buttle But it makes you look different, I didn't mean celebrity. It's just that you don't look like you.
Hellz yeah, I have the same thoughts too when I pass by a mirror
Girl, ur eyebrow game is on point today *fistbumps mirror*
By giving yourself an illusion? Pfff
You shouldn't punch mirrors
CrazedTacoEater852 human always love to harm inanimate objects, they are helpless! Gosh! What is wrong with society?
chill people chill~ why is the decision of wearing or not wearing make up has to be such serious topic?
it's just paint that you put on your face everyday to look nice, just like that shiny watch that is always on your wrist or your old favourite t-shirt your mom hates
"Not wearing make up takes a lot of courage" you say. For me, all it takes is laziness XD
Pretty much! I'll take a few extra minutes of (beauty) sleep, thanks! ;p
lmao! Totally, same here!! xD
Any day!
TheMorfin2011 omgosh! I couldn't agree more. My body is what I would work on or wake up early to hit the gym.
exception thrown, division by zero. Terminate the loop and retrieve variable value. The constants have been re-defined.
Seriously they picked a beautiful woman without dark circles, regular skin tone, without redness and all that stuff...
I'm not gonna lie, she looks really pretty without make-up
Thanks David :)
***** You're welcome:)
***** haha ur a ginger
David Ryan haha ur called david
dragon888193ftw yes I am. Thank you for noticing:)
I mean nobody really does of course, but what I mean is for some girls the difference is a lot more visible.
i would say it depends how redhead u are...i have a friend whos redhead but its not too bright so her eyelashes arent red
I was going to comment the same thing till I saw this...The only difference I noticed were a more even skin tone and pinker lips with the make up...
And again, like I said considering the results you really should feel comfortable not wearing makeup form time to time, many people (like myself) really like freckles :)
i rarely put makeup, thats because i dont care about what other people think. but the older i get, the more self-conscious i get
true! i personally feel like it's the effect of everyone else wearing makeup so it makes you feel like an outsider. the look nowadays is the middle part with curly/wavy hair, cat eyeliner, full lips, fleek eyebrows, the whole kardashian package.
sweetplum In that case it depends on which people you surround yourself with :)
sweetplum My grandmother likes to say: don't cover up your youth with this sh-t, they say you look prettier with it but it's a lie, they just want your money!! Let yourself worry about that when you're old and actually ugly... but then, it will be a reeeal shame if you get there still giving a crap about your exterior and what others think of it.. (yeah, I have a badass as a grams
Huffle Kekos I'm sorry but this is something that only a person with good skin would say :D
Natalie P. I have horrible skin.
You are not a weirdo. You sound like someone I would so date, lol.
You're not a weirdo. I'm a straight woman & I think she looks better without makeup, too.
wow, you really are a special snowflake.
lol okay at this point it's starting to sound like sarcasm
feel ya, mate.
But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."
I believe that my skin is more healthy because of my choice to not wear makeup and it radiates like the sun. Namaste~
ghh
SAME I'm 18 and I hate how makeup feels on my face and how it makes me look, sometimes I fill in my eyebrows and wear a natural lipstick but that's it! And every girl in my school wears really heavy makeup like foundation, eyeshadow, eyeliner etc
It feels wired to wear makeup but it also feels weird to be the only girl without makeup
If I didn't have acne I'd rock the bare face everyday
+RingoIta some men do wear makeup, a majority don't but there still are some that do.
+MissKorea Hyori I have acne and I still rock my bare face
+MissKorea Hyori Make up gives you acne after you're out of your preteens, lol.
MrsBoogie002
That is interesting, but not relevant.
LOL,that's so sure! I learnt how to do make up because of my acne as well.
SHE LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME WITH AND WITHOUT MAKEUP! 😁
Inspired! I like the end bit where she says it's more about how you hold yourself than what you put on your face. Very true. But how other people react to you affects how you hold yourself....
dicks
you are a silly, odd penguin!!
dicks
.....is short for Richard. Apparently :o
Not wearing any makeup takes so much courage, especially if you've used it for such long time on a daily basis. I had to go to school without makeup for one day only and i felt so naked and exposed and my confidence was so low. Is like been a warior and leaving your sword behind, it felt like that to me at least.
all women are fucking puppets, that's why you all have to wear makeup just because someone else does it
? I know you never said i was a guy...? I think you're a little bit confused bud. You called me a "useless woman" and I am now saying to you that I am not a woman nor am I useless. And neither are women. Praying for you. :)
u must be really ugly lol
unfortantly this is so true most girls loss confidance without makeup , to me makeup is mascara I would never go out without putting some
when society is so fucked up to judge other because of acne scars, people like me rely on makeup so they won't be looked down because of physicial appearance rather than personality.
It's like telling someone they wear a blue shirt to appeal to people who like the color blue without even thinking that maybe blue is just their favorite color.
she really pretty without make up , just lucky of her to have natural beauty
Do you!
Women don't need make up, because they are BEAUTIFUL.
IETCHX69 We don't wear it because we're ugly.
That makes no sense
It makes every bit of sense. Its fun to play with colors. Tons of beautiful women wear makeup & not all nor do the majority feel they're ugly.
I loves me women !
Confidence is the opposite of insecurity, so if you're not confident without makeup, then you're insecure!
The why do shriveled down women who are suffering from depression always look that way because they're confident?
amdturion123 What's a shriveled down woman?
Well said. Well, well said.
Lucy it's an old friend of yours from Overton grange school. I can't believe its you
Gracy Pelly who is this lollll?!
Gracy Pelly omggg GRAZ. IS DAT YOU FAM??!!!
Elizabeth Minott
thank you. funny enough my mother thought the same way and just kept telling me that i had to wash my face more. my mother didn't know that the acne runs from my dad's side, in fact he still gets them now.. and he's in his 50s.
Thing is, if you don't draw attention to it, most people will never notice the blemish.
exactly "a pimple." If I had clear skin and had ONE pimple, I'd still consider myself to have clear skin.
same here. =) glad I'm not the only one
I would do the same but I have acne and scarring all over my face and that's a bit difficult for people to not notice. As much as I can try to accept it, it doesn't stop me from feeling like my face is gross. So these days I tend to wear makeup.
Not true. I notice a friend's pimple no matter what.
Aw thanks ! & yeah that's true, things could always be worse.
Same here, if I go without foundation, especially during my teen years, people would call me freckle girl or tell me I should clean my face because I had some acne( and it wasn't even severe, just mild/moderate acne on my cheeks). So rude...
I see so many girls at my school that have like pretty good skin & I'm always thinking wtf do they do !? Guess mines a genetic thing ..
Adriana Garza
You always have at least 2-3 pimples? You should go to dermatologist. That shit's bad.
Alrighty... this is cool and all, and I totally see where you guys were trying to go, but it has its issues.
GotBigDreams some people of different races put on lighter makeup to seem white.
Jonty Norling That's a completely different issue.
Looks like she's still got make up on
+Gra Piken the thing wasnt to make her stop, just to experiment :P
+Adriana Ruiz bun in the non'make up moment at 00:32 she has eyeliner or sth.
+ishakak147 for ppl that put eye liner everyday, it leaves a residue on till the next day...at least for me..so it could be that...
Is it rude if I say that she looks the exact same with or without make-up. I mean I noticed some VERY slight changes in her skin but other than that she looks the exact same.
I thought she looked the same too just a little paler without the makeup but she's pretty either way
A lot of people don't use as much make up as some think. I don't really use a lot, when I go without it the only difference you see is that my skin is not as smooth around my nose. The rest of the make up is eyeliner, but during the day is just a brown one to make them more noticeable without going for dramatic and some lipstick. Natural make up all the way!! Believe me, going for the whole red carpet look is not an everyday thing.
she actually looks the same because she's not wearing eyeliner, or blush etc
its really how you feel not how you look ... it probably makes a big difference for her :D
Because she doesn't put on a shit ton
I think of make-up as a mask. I think of people who wear makeup insecure. Woman to to learn that your face isn't a coloring book. In fact the natural architecture of your face is way more beautiful than those makeup products you wear. I go everyday without wearing makeup, and yet people still compliment me. As humans, we are born to have flaws such as Zits and dark circles. It's unpredictable how so many woman want to wear makeup. It's like you were born with a bronze face and red lipstick. Stop being insecure because the beautiful You is right underneath all that makeup.
lol girl in video claims it's a misconception that people who wear makeup are insecure, then immediately follows with makeup gives her confidence. XD
Makeup can boost your confidence but it doesn't mean you are insecure without it... You just feel more powerful with it
Nah, it's insecurity.
mpnl21 the need to feel powerful indicated insecurity.
It's really annoying because some girls are blessed with these perfect under eyes and I'm just sitting there like😐
What a tragedy.
Damn... I wonder how some people do that everyday before going to work/school.
The only thing I do is wash my face then brush my teeth.
***** ... COME ON I FUCKING HATE CLIFFHANGERS, SO WHAT???
Same!! I don't wear makeup so I just take really good care of my hair. (That rhymed!! Haha!)
IMVU Dress Up Hair's the most attractive part of someone if they do it right. Gets me every time.
You don't shower?
not really... i never shower in the morning. i have to wake up way too early for that. i'm the type of person that wakes up with just 5-10 minutes left to get ready :P
I wear makeup cause its fun to be something else im not going to be for the rest of my life, and its fun like art or drawing. I do it for myself most defiantly and for video tuts .
With people saying girls do it for men do not realize that girls with boyfriends/ husbands and life partners still wear makeup XD
Well I'd imagine they still wanna look good lol
I wear makeup for me too, HeirOfGlee !
Gorgeous with or without makeup!

I just realized while looking at the comments...but guys, you say women only wear makeup to impress guys, what about lesbians and people who don't like either gender? Where is your logic now?
Okay fine, lesbians wear make up to impress other girls.
Although I do think woman don't wear it to impress guys. I think they mean that they wear it to attract the attracted gender not specifically men.
Max Power Who is GloZell wearing her green lipstick for?
stalkingself
there's a difference between wearing makeup to look pretty and wearing it to look stupid
She looks good without makeup! She or any other person out there don't need makeup to look or feel beautiful!

Thank you XD
I wear lipstick everyday no other makeup just lipstick and the one day i went to school and forgot to put it on everyone asked if I was depressed or tired...Something of that sort XD !
+Cece Ghoul same lol red lipstick can bring your whole face together without ANY other makeup
Kayla Ducote Yeah ! Red Lipstick Gives Me Life !
same I just wear lipstick and sometimes mascara but mainly lipstick other wise I think I look dead
She starts the video by saying not all people that wear makeup are insecure (which I agree with) and then proceeds to talk about how insecure she was without makeup.
Though she said "not all people" but remember that there are still people who feel that way and she probably felt that way for a while too! :)
So? Her statement is still correct.
Well, she was talking about her own experience. Many women, including myself, have a perfectly healthy perception of themselves, with or without makeup.
I feel like they should have used someone who actually wears makeup. Not just mascara, lipstick, and a little bit of concealer.

yeah. an addict would have been better.
The problem with both these videos is that both girls have pretty decent complexions to start with, for people like me, with a face like corned beef, a little bit of makeup makes me look normal.
Corned beef? Really?
hyperbole is lost in youtube comments, but I do have rosacea so while I don't literally have a face that looks like corned beef I do have high pigmentation and an uneven complexion
We see through that (hugely expensive) shit :)
don't worry girls, we like you just the way you are!
Now I feel happy :D
Agreed, I prefer the natural look as well. I only ever use make up to hide pimples and the bags under my eyes.
That beginning part, then that it gives you confidence, totally contradicts itself. Honestly.
Honestly I am just waaay too lazy to ever put make-up on. The 5 minutes spent putting on make-up could be spent sleeping.... I really like sleeping.
Sorry for late reply, but THIS GIRL/GUY GETS IT! Sleep is awesome!
Makeup isn't the cause of break outs. If you don't wash your face, then that will cause pimples. Being naturally hardly changes things. It's hygiene.
BuzzFeed should make a video with someone who stops wearing makeup for a month. I'm interested to see if acne or redness is reduced at all.
She's SO freakin' gorgeous without make up!!!!!
Like BRUH
She looks the exact same with and without make up so to me it doesn't make a difference
yeah sure, for someone like you that's still pretty whitout make up, as for me i will NOT stop wearing it, i wish i could, but if i do ppl will judge cuz that's what ppl do, and it affects when you want to geta job and almost all aspects in life .__. so yeah. i wont stop.
RomyArg30 oh... Argentina.
That explains a little bit. I'd want to say no offense but I'm pretty sure what I just said was as offensive as can be.
hahaha it's okey, it's the truth anyways. this country sucks in that aspect (and a lot others) so That's why I'm studying a career that allows me to leave as soon as i graduate :)
Last year I didn't wear makeup to school one day and I felt uncomfortable at first, but then I started feeling confident, like I looked fresh faced and pretty. Then my friend told me I looked like death. I'll never forget it.
I know how you feel. You aren't alone. :(
Shattered Heart :(
I REALLY FEEL THE NEED TO CLEAR THIS UP!
I have seen a lot of comments about how its bull shit when ppl say "I wear makeup for myself. Makeup doesn't just " make you look pretty" its a fun way of expressing you and your personality. I'm a(n) (pround) emo so I wear lots of eyeliner and nothing else! I cannot tell you how many times I have heard "but you are so pretty without your eyeliner!"
"Wow... That's a lot of eyeliner."
"You know your not supposed to wear that much... Right?"
And all that. It really hurts when ppl say these things, because makeup really does give me confidence, I am happier with it. I'm tired of hearing these comments on my makeup but I refuse to wear less because its how I show who I am. Its not a matter of insecurity
I wear Make-up not on a dayly basis, I use it to play with myself and my looks
To have fun and experiment with it
Are there ANY other 20 year old girls out there who don't wear make up at all?
Not wearing makeup is awesome, gives me 10-15 min of extra sleep in the mornings :) plus I know no one really gives a shit about my acne so that always helps :)

i like it when ppl say i look tired. it gives me the choice of telling them i'm not or pretending to be tired, depending on my motivation
"that they're insecure, or self-conscious, but that hasn't been at all my experience - if anything makeup gives me confidence"
wait what, that literally just proved the point. If you are insecure about your appearance, and you put on makeup to cover up, you feel confident after. Lol
k
She is fortunate to look good without makeup. Her freckles are cute.
XD
I wear makeup because I like it. :)
+KristelClear You made me smile. Thank you(:
XC it was a little eyeliner- meanwhile the girl next to me sits with her bright lipstick and tons of mascara and nobody says a word to her
I didnt see a difference between no makeup and makeup..

Ducking sucks
idk why but i related to her so much and how she said that it affects you more than it does other people like how she always thought it would do the opposite really was an eye opener
The girl is so FREAKING PRETTY
There was this good lookin girl that i liked
One day for some reason she didn't have any makeup on
She had all these red little spots on her face and that just made her unattractive (just me i don't know about others)
but she was Still my friend. I just put all the dirty thought in my head with her away.
But I swear THIS is one of the BEST things about being a guy
No makeup, No cycles, no pregnancy, no boobs, short hair, easy fashion
If she act like she doesn't she's not interested for the moment, but when she's finaly flirting, SHE decided to let you in her life. ;)
Ludivine Moonkind Oh jesus. Why are you getting angry, he was on our side.
Bumble Bees I'm not getting angry, I'm surprised he says that men have it easier, so I try to explain why. I sound angry in your head because it's hard to know without smileys how the person was talking.
Ludivine Moonkind No, you sound angry because you said and I quote,
"EASY FASHION ? ! You kidding me ?!"
I just yelled that and i sounded so angry I put myself in time out.
My point is that we have a choice of having short hair without looking like a lesbian.
but you gotta admit, we have way more freedom
