Saf's reason is the only reason anybody should be doing anything to themselves. Because you just like it and want to. Sadly, there's still a lot of pressure to conform to certain standards and a lot of women do it to avoid judgment and it's fine, not everyone feels like battling with something every day, but it's always nice to see the encouragement to step out of this comfort zone and to learn to not care about what others think and be your own boss.

I literally cannot tell the difference between any of them wearing or not wearing makeup. This would have been so much more interesting with someone like Jazzmyne who likes to wear bold makeup looks.

I've never looked at a lady and thought the condition of her skin was what made her attractive or not and I know the vast majority of you haven't either. Therefore no one thinks it about you. I used to have really bad cystic acne and I wish that I could agree that no one makes comments about it, but unfortunately, I've had people literally look at my face and say "ew, what's wrong with your face" when they saw me when I was younger. It's not so bad now, I still get blemishes all over my face but they aren't as big/scabby, I have been out and seen people without make up before and they usually ask me if I'm sick or something because I look ill without makeup on now. I'm trying to just wear bb/ cc cream to give my skin a break, but you can still see the spots and lots of family members, etc. will always say 'oh, your spots are back again aren't they' (they never left, I just got better at putting make up on) :/
I wear & treat makeup as another accessory to my outfit/look.If that makes sense? If I wear a glam look my makeup is going to be glam,If I wear a casual look my makeup will be light. If I'm in comfy clothes I'll wear no makeup. Personally for me my makeup does not define my beauty or give me my beauty but simply brings together my overall outfit the day.

Hi Hello That's what I thought! My skin without makeup is full of hyperpigmented areas and random acne scars. These girls look pretty much the same minus the eye makeup and lips.
I'm actually more self-conscious IN makeup. I'm constantly worried if I'm getting oily, or if it's smudging, or oxidising, or getting crusty around my nose. I'd rather go bare faced than be worried all day. I will, however, wear a little liner.

Well for me it did I don't wear make up regularly and I don't have any at home but when my cousin did my makeup I felt really pretty like really pretty I was so happy with myself mainly because I couldn't see my ance ;-;
@@samantha8178 I agree with you, I also feel that some don't realize it but when you wash off all the makeup that's been enhancing your looks so much and then look in the mirror, you'll start wishing you kept the looks as you keep using makeup overtime, not only will it ruin what your natural skin looks like, it also can bring insecurities you never had until you started using it a lot of girls won't admit that make up does in fact take a toll on their self confidence, though I guess some people genuinely do makeup as a form of art to express their creativity so we'll never know.
Makeup is okay, but as soon as you feel you NEED makeup to be beautiful, that's when its not okay. I always try to go all natural every once in a while so that I remember how important it is to feel beautiful and confident with AND WITHOUT makeup. To remind myself that makeup shouldn't be something you feel you NEED to put on every day to feel beautiful. I encourage you to do the same. Go all natural every so often. Challenge yourself to feel beautiful and confident with AND without makeup.
nah my face makes me look like someone's grandma and im not exaggerating even my mum says i look like her mum not her daughetr lmaooo thank god for make up to cover my discoloration, panda eys and give me actual eyebrows as well as some shimmer and pink so i look cute...even them im average
As bizarre as it is, i feel more insecure WITH makeup. And then i spend the entire day fussing over "does it still look ok" "what do others think" "does this go with what im wearing, or me". Idk, it looks nice but to much hassle.
Yeeees, when I do more make up than I normally do (for fancy events or date night or whatever) I'm constantly wondering if my eyeliner ran or if I have liptstick in my teeth or if my foundation looks weird, throughout the date/night. I much prefer just using a minimal look with a tinted CC cream and a waterproof mascara and out the door.
Maybe that's why I don't wear makeup. I have better things to waste money on than hiding who I am. BTW: all the ladies, in the vid, are beautiful without makeup :)

I use makeup to cover my acne scars. Whenever I don't wear them people will stare at my scars and keep telling me to take care of my face. Lol. If I know how to I already did it, but what can I do for having such sensitive skin. But when I wear makeup people also stare at me and saying I'm being vogue. I hate them. Lol.

I’m glad that they included Safiya’s positive outlook on make up and not just the more negative opinions. That’s how I feel about make up, I just enjoy it. Admittedly I don’t like showing my spots, but it’s cos I’ve always been lucky to have clear skin so when I do get a spot, it’s really noticeable. I went to acting school for my degree where we were not allowed to wear make up in order to be our most authentic selves and be able to ‘bare our souls’ more. Sounds flowery and pretentious but it helped me get over my teenage addiction to eyeliner and made me feel super comfortable being bare-faced.

My fiancé (whom is obviously straight considering he's engaged to me) asks me to put concealer, sometimes foundation, and even gel in his brows weekly. He's even started having me wax his brows for him (I'm an Esthetician so he doesn't worry that I'll mess them up). I think it's stupid that men feel like they can't wear makeup for fear of being accused of being gay. Men shouldn't have to endure dark circle or acne either if they don't want to. Plus, makeup doesn't have a gender in my book❤️ Also, this is 2016, being called gay shouldn't be an insult anymore.

I don't! I don't even own any make-up anymore. I do have care products (for example nail oil to keep the skin smooth) and I go to the manicure and hair dresser regulary, but I don't see any reason, why I should wear make-up when I don't even like it. I'm fine when other people wear some, but I don't even on special occasions.
Me! I sometimes put some eyeliner on, but that's it. No foundation, no lipstick, no mascara... And a lot of times not even the eyeliner, and I don't feel selfconcious or anything. I think that in my profile I'm wearing the eyeliner and a lip gloss, and that was a day that it took some time to get me ready, I had my hair curly because of the braids that I wore the night before and I wanted to add something to the look, but, still, no foundation...
Something I realized recently is that I get more comfortable and confident doing things and going out and meeting people without makeup. Before when I used to wear makeup I couldn't help thinking that I was hiding part of myself that I was insecure about and for that I was wearing a mask but just putting it out there that this is me, this is who I am, it actually gave me so much confidence and self-love. Now I just don't wear any makeup at all including the days i have really bad skin. And just the fact that I don't have to remove anything after the day(i do wash my face) love it so much.
They usually shoot multiple videos at once ( like the Instagram makeup/ Diy clothes videos ) which is why Jen had overalls, Safiya had a body on dress, Chantel had a low cut dress, and Freddie had low cut jeans ( you can tell by her hair and shirt ). But you're right Saf looks amazing.

Being trans I always taught with myself about what femininity was, I used to feel that I couldn't go out of the house without makeup, I felt makeup made me look and feel more feminine and I've noticed that I don't need it! Women are beautiful!

I have absolutely horrible skin, but I have never, ever worn makeup (other than for dances and 'special' events). I choose to fix the acne instead of cover it up, and with this mindset, I've worked harder to clear it up and consequently, it has, at least a little.
A lot of the time if I forget to wear makeup for a week or so my skin starts breaking out because I forget to wash my face. When I wear it on a regular basis, my skin looks flawless when I've washed it all off, because I am washing my face on a regular basis before bed every night. I think it makes sense that people who wear makeup normally have flawless faces, unless they are teenagers.
RobinOrzo Do you use anything for your rosacea? I have it on my left cheek area. I spoke with my doctor and he prescribed me "metronidazole" and while it didn't clear up 100%, it did help a good amount.
I don't wear makeup because: I don't like how it feels on my face, my skin is way better/healthier without it, its just a hassle to put on and take off, and I just don't really feel like me. On rare occasions it is nice to wear mascara though
because they are expert at applying makeup to make themselves look natural. They don't go crazy overboard with their everyday makeup so they would still look the same without it.
idk if its the lighting or the quality but they look hardly different without makeup. all of their faces are pretty structured, their eyebrows are full and shaped, their skin is relatively clear… they are good looking people…
Ever since I started using makeup in college... I feel the compulsion to at least add a dab of concealer and do my eyebrows even when I'm just going out to grab dinner. I have really dark under eye circles and I don't even feel like raising my face to look someone in the eye without concealer. It's a really crippling feeling. I don't like how I look without makeup, but I wish I didn't feel this way.
I completely understand how you feel. i have really bad dark circles and a lot of pigmentation on one side of my face. I started wearing makeup in middle school because I was so self-conscious about what people would think about my face. This went on until my freshman year of high school where I would wear a full face of makeup and then some just to make sure people couldn't see what was going on with my face. The way I kind of got over it was almost like challenging myself to wear less makeup and see how people treated me. It went from a full face to just concealer, brows, and mascara just to make myself look somewhat presentable. My sophomore year was my biggest year because i challenged myself to not wear any makeup to school and no one cared how i looked or that I didn't wear any makeup. So here's some advice: take off all your makeup and look at yourself in the mirror. Do you really not like how you look with makeup or is it the fear of what others will think? Try to challenge yourself to not wear any makeup and see how the world looks at you. More often than not people wont even notice or even if they do they wont care because it deosnt change you. There were so many times that I went to school with no makeup on after like two hours of sleep and looking like death hit me in the face but no one cared how I looked and still cared for me and treated me the same. I'm not a fan of Buzzfeed but I do really like Ladylike. This video made me feel so good about myself and how far I've come with my selfconfidence. I used to not be able to go outside without applying makeup and now I could probably attend to a prom or gala barefaced and not care less. It's very empowering to break free from the ¨need¨ to wear makeup and simply view it as a fun thing, like a hobby or interest kindof. And I love that these girls, who normally wear makeup daily, tried a week without it to see how they feel

a lot of girls won't admit that make up does in fact take a toll on their self confidence, though I guess some people genuinely do makeup as a form of art to express their creativity so we'll never know.
Makeup is okay, but as soon as you feel you NEED makeup to be beautiful, that's when its not okay. I always try to go all natural every once in a while so that I remember how important it is to feel beautiful and confident with AND WITHOUT makeup. To remind myself that makeup shouldn't be something you feel you NEED to put on every day to feel beautiful. I encourage you to do the same. Go all natural every so often. Challenge yourself to feel beautiful and confident with AND without makeup.

As bizarre as it is, i feel more insecure WITH makeup. And then i spend the entire day fussing over "does it still look ok" "what do others think" "does this go with what im wearing, or me". Idk, it looks nice but to much hassle.
Yeeees, when I do more make up than I normally do (for fancy events or date night or whatever) I'm constantly wondering if my eyeliner ran or if I have liptstick in my teeth or if my foundation looks weird, throughout the date/night. I much prefer just using a minimal look with a tinted CC cream and a waterproof mascara and out the door.

I’m glad that they included Safiya’s positive outlook on make up and not just the more negative opinions. That’s how I feel about make up, I just enjoy it. Admittedly I don’t like showing my spots, but it’s cos I’ve always been lucky to have clear skin so when I do get a spot, it’s really noticeable.
I went to acting school for my degree where we were not allowed to wear make up in order to be our most authentic selves and be able to ‘bare our souls’ more. Sounds flowery and pretentious but it helped me get over my teenage addiction to eyeliner and made me feel super comfortable being bare-faced.

My fiancé (whom is obviously straight considering he's engaged to me) asks me to put concealer, sometimes foundation, and even gel in his brows weekly. He's even started having me wax his brows for him (I'm an Esthetician so he doesn't worry that I'll mess them up). I think it's stupid that men feel like they can't wear makeup for fear of being accused of being gay. Men shouldn't have to endure dark circle or acne either if they don't want to. Plus, makeup doesn't have a gender in my book❤️ Also, this is 2016, being called gay shouldn't be an insult anymore.

Me! I sometimes put some eyeliner on, but that's it. No foundation, no lipstick, no mascara... And a lot of times not even the eyeliner, and I don't feel selfconcious or anything. I think that in my profile I'm wearing the eyeliner and a lip gloss, and that was a day that it took some time to get me ready, I had my hair curly because of the braids that I wore the night before and I wanted to add something to the look, but, still, no foundation...
Something I realized recently is that I get more comfortable and confident doing things and going out and meeting people without makeup. Before when I used to wear makeup I couldn't help thinking that I was hiding part of myself that I was insecure about and for that I was wearing a mask but just putting it out there that this is me, this is who I am, it actually gave me so much confidence and self-love. Now I just don't wear any makeup at all including the days i have really bad skin. And just the fact that I don't have to remove anything after the day(i do wash my face) love it so much.

I have absolutely horrible skin, but I have never, ever worn makeup (other than for dances and 'special' events). I choose to fix the acne instead of cover it up, and with this mindset, I've worked harder to clear it up and consequently, it has, at least a little.

A lot of the time if I forget to wear makeup for a week or so my skin starts breaking out because I forget to wash my face. When I wear it on a regular basis, my skin looks flawless when I've washed it all off, because I am washing my face on a regular basis before bed every night. I think it makes sense that people who wear makeup normally have flawless faces, unless they are teenagers.
RobinOrzo Do you use anything for your rosacea? I have it on my left cheek area. I spoke with my doctor and he prescribed me "metronidazole" and while it didn't clear up 100%, it did help a good amount.

Ever since I started using makeup in college... I feel the compulsion to at least add a dab of concealer and do my eyebrows even when I'm just going out to grab dinner. I have really dark under eye circles and I don't even feel like raising my face to look someone in the eye without concealer. It's a really crippling feeling. I don't like how I look without makeup, but I wish I didn't feel this way.
I completely understand how you feel. i have really bad dark circles and a lot of pigmentation on one side of my face. I started wearing makeup in middle school because I was so self-conscious about what people would think about my face. This went on until my freshman year of high school where I would wear a full face of makeup and then some just to make sure people couldn't see what was going on with my face. The way I kind of got over it was almost like challenging myself to wear less makeup and see how people treated me. It went from a full face to just concealer, brows, and mascara just to make myself look somewhat presentable. My sophomore year was my biggest year because i challenged myself to not wear any makeup to school and no one cared how i looked or that I didn't wear any makeup. So here's some advice: take off all your makeup and look at yourself in the mirror. Do you really not like how you look with makeup or is it the fear of what others will think? Try to challenge yourself to not wear any makeup and see how the world looks at you. More often than not people wont even notice or even if they do they wont care because it deosnt change you. There were so many times that I went to school with no makeup on after like two hours of sleep and looking like death hit me in the face but no one cared how I looked and still cared for me and treated me the same. I hope this was helpful :)

My mum and sister once put makeup on me for fun and I hated it- my face felt fake and my eyes were so uncomfortable. I've never and will never put makeup on again.
