    I think it's strange that all the guys in the comments say that girls without make up are prettier, while in real life almost no guy thinks that. They always say: eww you're so pale, you have almost no eyebrows, your eyelashes are so short. They don't know that what they like is makeup. There hasn't been one guy (except my dad) who told me I was beautiful when I wasn't wearing makeup. And I almost never wear makeup. I'm not saying all guys are like this, maybe I just haven't met the right type of guys, but I have never met one who didn't like makeup on girls.

      I don't wear make-up and I've never heard such things come out of the mouth of a guy or even a girl. It's just that wearing make-up makes you look more "ideal" and everybody around you gets used to the stuff on your face because you wear it every day. When you take that away you look bare, like your missing something, and that's what people notice and try to "fix" the usual image in their heads by telling you how to do your make-up. It's like people who wear glasses suddenly apppear without them. The one big difference is that glasses aren't made to beautify someone and make-up is.
      And about your eyebrows; unless your haircolor is very light blond, you can do something about that just by doing your brows correctly (from the very start of course, to avoid irreversible damage with tiny bolt spots).

    I'm only twelve years old and literally like EVERYBODY at my school wears makeup, even the sixth graders. So I started to feel kind of left out and one day I told myself I would just try makeup for one day. I covered up a circular dark spot on my chin, the dark spots on my forehead, put on mascara, the tiniest bit of eyeliner and coral colored lip gloss. When I got to school I got a LOT more attention. People talked to me more and they were nicer too. So I kept it up. But one night, when it was time to take it all off, I was just really disappointed. Looking at my washcloth and face, seeing makeup smeared all over both of them just really made me feel ugly. I feel like it's really not worth it to feel satisfied during the day that you look flawless, but at night see the true you. You compare yourself to the flawless day version of you and think you're ugly, when really, you're not. Makeup definitely boosts your confidence while you're out, but when you wash it off and see the real you your self-esteem gets even lower than before the makeup. Just remember, outer beauty is only skin deep, inner beauty lasts forever :)

      First of all.. I don't think 12 year olds should be wearing makeup at all!

      Truth. I comfort myself that anyone can look like a movie star with the right make up, hair and clothes, and that most stars don't look that great waking up in the morning anyways. Even in pictures of friends, everyone uses filters etc to make themselves look the best they can. Even I do that. Some mascara now and then is enough for me. Fortunately, my hubby prefers that I don't wear make up. It's what he is used to, and he loves me no matter what. (Though him as well don't mind the mascara now and then. :) )

      (Same age) I've never worn make up to school but I see many other girls get noticed when they wear makeup. I really want to try makeup it's just that I feel as if I'll loose my self. I don't want to be the other girls at my school, yet I do..... I honestly want to wait till high school... I just don't know.

    • @mirawenya
      @mirawenya 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Emily Reynoso Do what you feel is right. As a non make up wearer I'd advocate not wearing it, but rather wear it for special occasions. But I feel maybe I missed out on learning how to put it on since I never tried it when I was younger. I feel 12 is too young though. But could be fun to play around with at home. And keep in mind, less is more. A very subtle shade of eye shadow, some mascara, does a lot just there.
      I'm just happy I don't wear make up simply cause I don't have to put it on every day to feel I can leave the house. Spending time on that every morning ... I'm too lazy :P
      But yeah.. follow your heart. Don't do it just cause everyone else does. Do it cause you really want to, if you do. I think it's pretty tough of you to not just be a sheep :) This will help you to not smoke, not drink, and all sorts of "but everyone else does it" stuff. Stay true to yourself.

    I wear makeup because it makes me feel good. I feel put together when I wear it. I love the entire process of putting it on and experimenting with colors and trying different brushes with different things. I like the glances I get when I wear a bold lip or wear a cat eye with dramatic lashes. I do it for me, nobody else. men think I'm bossy because I carry myself differently than when I go bare faced. I don't do it or them and I doubt women do. we have the opportunity to make ourselves feel more confident, so why not? are there days when I go without makeup? of course! giving your face a break every now and then is necessary. I just would never judge someone by their makeup or by the fact that they're not wearing any. judging based off that is just crazy.

      ***** 1.If a guy really can't tell a girl doesn't naturally have red lips and colored eyelids he's probably an idiot and that's his own issue
      2. Most women wear makeup or dress nicely for themselves, men and their opinions are usually quite irrelevant in how we present ourselves.
      3. Makeup enhances your natural features, if someone finds that to be misleading once again that is strictly their issue.

    • @kaylaann3913
      @kaylaann3913 10 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      ***** 1. makeup is still noticeable...you can tell when someone is wearing it.
      2. how do you know she doesn't "accept" her features? you're assuming all women who wear makeup are insecure, which would be false :)
      3. no...women wear makeup because they like to do it and its fun, if anyone else doesn't enjoy it oh well. there is no "right way" to wear makeup, its whatever that individual personally likes and wants to put on their face.

    • @NinaNeko4
      @NinaNeko4 10 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      ***** I don't think you get it. No one asked you or anyone to convey that "women don't need makeup..." We KNOW that already. Do some women think they need it because of self esteem/issues. Sure, but that has more to do with mental health and perception. The majority of women do NOT need it, and they know this. They like it, and like the way it makes them feel. I like feeling more put together, and enhancing whatever feature I want, and the process of focusing on ME only. There's no way in hell I spend $25+ dollars on a Mac lipstick or $15+ on a blush to get a 2 second glance from some random person, or one petty little compliment. My word, why do some guys always have to put their opinion into something that literally has nothing to do with them. As if you're fucking mindreaders and somehow know how every women thinks/perceives themselves.
      We as a society are already working to make PEOPLE in general be happy with themselves as they are. No one "needs to help women" in this context. They have minds of their own. It doesn't affect you. Instead of worrying about this, how about you put your energy into helping stop the epidemic of sexual assault worldwide.

    • @mimi10115
      @mimi10115 10 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Let me get this straight. You think women wear makeup because we're insecure? You think we have a hard time accepting our flaws and insecurities and that is the reason why we "hide" behind this "mask" that we put on and wash off? Let me tell you this, you are dead wrong in your so called "beliefs and thoughts". If you didn't read my first comment, I could care less what men think about my "mask". I wear makeup because I like it. If a man cannot realize that I truly don't have shimmery eye lids, red lips, and lashes that reach my eyebrows and look perfect, then it's obvious they're stupid. I'm sorry for the women in your life, if you have any. Thinking that we shouldn't have the right to make ourselves feel special or extra confident is plain ignorance. Women who wear makeup take better care of their skin because we use products to prevent and keep our faces looking radiant. Makeup is an art and if you can't appreciate a woman who does a fine job of making herself feel confident, then maybe you don't deserve to have an opinion. If you truly felt that it is what's on the inside that counts, why do you care so much about what a woman wears on her face? You're only being ignorant and contradictory. Whoever cannot accept the fact that I get excited to experiment with different products and colors will only get ignored in my life. If they cannot accept how happy I get when I get to splurge on a product for my face after contemplating it for so long, then they don't deserve to ever see me giddy and happy! Makeup isn't the only thing that makes me happy but it's an extra "hobby" for me.

    Well. To me, wake-up isn't a way to cover flaws, neither to gain confidence. Wearing make up is like wearing an accessory, like a necklace. Or wearing a nice tee-shirt. There's no big deal, really. And it's kind of amusing, too, a little bit like paint.
    I think that there's no problem in wearing make up, as long as you don't consider it at something to cover your flaws but rather as something nice to add at your style.

      Excuse me ? It adds colors, like a jewel or whatever. I can't see what your problem is. I don't wear make up most of the times. In that case, you can also say that having a tatoo is dumb. It's the same thing really, except tatoo is permanent.

    • @Beanskiiii
      @Beanskiiii 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ***** Getting a tattoo and wearing makeup are not analogous. As you said, a tattoo is permanent, however, makeup is not. Most people get tattoos as body art while makeup is USUALLY used as a beauty enhancer or more precisely a way to cover up your physical flaws. If you HONESTLY wear makeup solely as art that's your business, but tbh I feel most women who say that just lie to themselves.

    I LOVE makeup. My pet peeve is when people say, "you don't need makeup". Although I appreciate their comment, I myself realize that I don't "need" it, but I want it. I have no artistic abilities, but there's an art to applying makeup. So I see my face as a canvas & express myself in that manner. Not to mention, I find applying it quite therapeutic (when not being rushed lol) much like an artist when he paints. In essence, I wear makeup for no one but myself. I feel feminine and beautiful. 💓

    I think makeup is great. It's another way to edit yourself, like your clothes, or your social media, or your texts. I really mean this. I believe that you don't have to broadcast to the whole world *all* of who you are *all the time.* We have the right and ability to choose how we present ourselves, and whether or not you see self-image editing as a form of dishonesty, I believe that we can - and maybe even *should* - save showing all of our "secrets" to those closest to us. That's part of what makes relationships special: knowing more about each other than just the average Joe knows.

      Cute way of looking at it, except women are *made* to feel like they should wear makeup. That's not really a choice. The cosmetic industry destroys women's self esteem. Wearing makeup destroys your self-esteem. You fall in love with your face in makeup, the "improved" version of you, and when you take it off, all you see is flaws. I stopped wearing makeup, and I seriously fell in love with my face, and the flaws were just white noise that didn't even bother me! Honestly, you're just making up feel-good BS to protect the cosmetic industry and perpetuate the destruction of women's self esteem.

      Michelle I am a woman and I couldn't care less if someone wears make-up or not I for one do not wear it... never have ... never will. My issue is the excuses women make to justify wearing it. " It's fun to play in" or " It's fun to create or canvas or whatever" those excuses are BS IMO b/c if its so " fun" to play in do you sit around the house when your home by yourself with a face full of paint on then??? NO! It's not the fact that women wear makeup that annoys me as a woman it's the excuses they use to wear it. You are not a five year doing finger paints why do you need to "have fun to play in makeup" . Just admit makeup gives you more confidence and it is important to you how people on the street male and female view you. P.S Don't lie to yourself b/c again if you don't sit in the house everyday with it on b/c it is so fun to play with then you are being dishonest. If you want to play in something by finger paints then .

      Well,You may not find it fun but many of us do. I do face paint,For fun, for no particular reason. Thats not odd, You may like reading a book or swimming,Whatever you do to have a good time is fine. It makes you happy. To be annoyed that women actually do have fun wearing makeup is a bit dramatic. I don't understand what you mean,If you're home alone wearing makeup, Is dishonest? How so? Also, Of course wearing makeup gives you confidence. What's wrong with that? Everyone wants to feel good about themselves. We're all beautiful with or without it. ∩__∩ So yes,We wear makeup for fun. We wear makeup for ourselves.

      No you are not! What you said basically explains exactly how I feel about wearing make-up. I am the same with clothes too. And I do one other thing, which is a bit like the experiment - I love to notice people's different reactions to me depending on how I dress and do make-up. It's fascinating to notice who treats me the same and who responds differently, and how much positive feedback I get from people when I put make-up on and dress in certain ways. It's my game I play for myself. It's my empowerment and weapon to use for my own benefit. It feels totally empowering and I Love It.

    A lot of girls feel more confident wearing makeup. I don't judge people who wear some makeup but I definitely feel weird when I see girls with it caked on. Not because I don't like makeup but they just look like a barbie doll or something and it creeps me out lol. I love love love people's natural faces, especially as an artist I think I just tend to appreciate that, and I think people should really find confidence in what they look like naturally instead of using the makeup as a tool to build confidence. To maybe make more sense, she said she might feel more confident because she took more time to take care of herself (putting on makeup). Well, instead of using (a lot of) makeup to feel this way, you can take care of yourself by eating healthy, exercising, sleeping enough, and having a good skincare regimen. By doing that (along with having a good personality/being kind), you will always be beautiful and insecurities (and pimples) will be a thing of the past. You can enjoy life a little more freely and happily (because you're healthy) and no one will ever say "You look tired". Be beautiful you ladies :)

    • @Grizzly855
      @Grizzly855 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Interesting. Maybe it's because my forte is portraits. I love to examine people's facial features a lot and I'd rather see/draw the real thing because it's more complex. A mole here, a blemish there, I love it. A perfectly made up face is too easy. Maybe it's also a combination of just an appreciation of natural beauty. I love to watch shows like Face Off and I'm amazed by face painting techniques, but putting on makeup daily isn't quite the same as special effects makeup. Instead of using it as a form of self expression or as an art form, I find that a lot of people use it as a confidence boost and from that confidence boost they find that they like to do makeup (for the confidence). The true reasons behind using it become concealed. I would rather see makeup put on for a zombie Halloween costume than see the same amount used to cover insecurities.It's hard to explain but I guess we are just different kinds of artists, different kinds of people, with different opinions. That's ok with me. I have no power to force anyone to stop wearing makeup. Just sharing my opinion.

    • @Grizzly855
      @Grizzly855 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MiyukiItachi It depends on your diet. Anyone can cure or lessen acne with the right diet for that person. Maybe your body doesn't absorb dairy well, maybe you can't eat meat, maybe you have to eat meat. Different people require different diets and maybe you just haven't found yours yet. Even then, a little acne is natural and nothing to hide. (This is how I feel, but in a world where people are expected to be near perfect, some may think it's disgusting. That's ok too. It really doesn't matter what people who can't appreciate your true beauty think.)

    This is one of the reasons I've been considering radical feminism, rather than liberal feminism. In liberal feminism, all they say is "Hey, if you like makeup, wear it. If you don't, don't wear it!" It's a very childish way of treating the whole thing. It completely erases the fact that women are made to feel like they should wear makeup, by the cosmetic industry, society, family members, friends, photoshopped women in media, etc. Feminism shouldn't be about "letting women do whatever they want." The cosmetic industry thrives on making women insecure about their real selves. That hurts women. Feminism should be about collectively making choices that benefit women as a whole, rather than just doing whatever you want. Because of that I refuse to wear makeup at all. I'm beautiful. All of you ladies are beautiful. And I already know how people will respond: "It makes women feel good about themselves, stop judging them, it's their choice." or "I only wear it on special occasions." 1) Ask yourself why it makes you feel good. It makes you "prettier" right? It hides your "flaws" right? It shouldn't make you feel better. Work on your self-esteem. Get to the root of the problem. Don't use a temporary, artificial fix for empowerment. 2) I'm judging the action, not the person. Don't get defensive. If something is bad for women, it's my duty as a feminist to talk about it. Besides, if you're a feminist, you should care more about the self-esteem of women as a whole more than your fake empowerment. 3) It's not "their choice." In feminism you learn a lot about a little something called "sociology." In sociology, you study individuals relationship with society and how society affects your "choices." What I'm saying is, no, it's not really your "choice" if society already forces the idea of makeup onto you through advertising, and expectations. If it's 100% your choice, there should theoretically be an equal amount of men and women who both wear or don't wear makeup. Are there? No. Women don't naturally love makeup. I just think liberal feminism doesn't really liberate women from sex-based oppression, rather it only seeks to artificially improve it. Radical feminism seems a lot more straight forward and honest. I don't know.

    • @Sasukegrl12
      @Sasukegrl12 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bl0ndie
      Yes I'm gender critical, because gender doesn't exist. Personal tastes do, personality does, but gender doesn't. The gender binary is forced onto people from birth, and the feminine gender is the tool that oppresses women into patriarchy. There's no male or female brain. You can't be a "woman on the inside" because there's no such thing. Gender dysphoria obviously is a real condition, but notice how the condition does not mean that gender (or brain-sex) is a real thing. It just means that the person 1) identifies with the opposite gender, and 2) has body dysphoria. Body dysphoria does not mean that something is actually wrong with your body. It means that for whatever reason, your brain is telling you something is wrong with your body. Is a thin person suffering from body dysphoria who sees their self as obese actually obese? No. More likely, that person was affected by society's beauty expectations. I know what it's like to have body dysphoria in regards to weight, I know really bad. I also know what it's like to "feel like a boy" on the inside, because as a child I was not feminine whatsoever. I got told things by women in my family like "Boys like girly girls." and "When are you going to like girl stuff? You're the only girl." and I got nagged to wear makeup and do my hair. It's my hypothesis, and many others, that trans people's body dysphoria comes from the gender binary forced upon them. Their brains feel that "Well, since I'm not "manly" enough, something must be wrong with my body." No, and how TERRIBLE that people actually support that idea, it totally disregards what sort of message it sends to kids. "If you don't fit the binary, it means your body is wrong!" I'm perfectly aware that transition *can* help treat gender dysphoria. I have nothing against transitioning, because frankly, other people's bodies are not my business, and I wouldn't deny someone treatment, that'd be ableist. However a male is a male, and I'm not going to say someone is a woman because they like feminine things and hate their penis. Knowing male on female rape statistics, I won't risk putting women's lives in danger by allowing men to enter their bathroom. Not only because of transwomen, but also because of cis men who will just dress up as women to enter the bathroom to rape. Sorry, no. And before you call me paranoid, it does happen, and I can send you links if you'd like. I'm a nice person and I'll call you by your preferred pronoun, and I would never trigger anyone about their gender dysphoria, but I care more about women's safety as a whole than making someone feel good. As for the whole bathroom situation, I think a third, family (single toilet) bathroom should be available everywhere, for anyone to use, since cis men perform the most violence against trans women, I absolutely do not think they should be forced to use a male restroom.

      Pomori The reason men are so against make up is a lot of girls/women don't know the difference between just touching up your face to enhance it and putting pounds of make up to look like a completely different person. The trick is to use make up without you actually looking like you have make up on.

    If you are not someone who wears makeup every day on a regular basis, you don't have a right to say "makeup is ___" or "makeup is ____" because you don't know. My freshmen year, I only wore eyeliner and mascara. Now, as a senior, I wear a full face every single day. I'm EXTREMELY insecure and fought with depression for YEARS before I finally started accepting myself. I started wearing more makeup in my junior year and have continued to do so since. It's fun. It's an escape. It's a way for me to express my creativity and it makes me feel good. I'm more confident than I've ever been in years and I feel comfortable in my body now. If you think makeup is bad purely because you think it's a mask or that it means we're insecure because we wear it, take the time to ask someone why they wear it. Odds are, if you're judging someone for their appearance anyway, you're part of the reason people like me are wearing makeup in the first place.

  • @plurallove

      Definitely not, make up can be a form of expression or simply another aspect to their daily dress. People use it for whatever reason, the real focus should be on body confidence. Whether it's experimenting with wearing or not wearing makeup, confidence is the key. If someone likes to wear makeup because it makes them feel good, who are we to tell them it's wrong? Or a lie? I'd hate it if someone told me I couldn't like something I enjoyed.

    I think this video and the other one that goes with it are really interesting. I'm kind of an in between makeup wearer. I love makeup, love looking at new products and things to try out, but I feel fine not wearing it. I kind of go into phases of a few months where I do it every day and a few months where I don't do it at all. Most of the time feel more insecure when I have it on because I worry about it being super noticeable or just looking too over the top, but I still like creating new looks. I just like to have fun with it.

Especially since I always feel so self conscious and have serious self esteem issues. Originally, my parents were gonna refuse until I move out of the house, one day I got some mascara and my dad noticed and got super pissed and launched into a lecture about not doing thing bc others are etc. but I started crying because I had been hiding every bad emotion I have had to myself from them and then it took like a night of crying to finally let my dad realize the reason I need makeup so badly is to make MYSELF feel better and THEN he agreed to basic makeup.
    Anyways I'm SO excited!

    I personally really like wearing eyeliner and black lipstick when I'm alone, but when I'm out in public, I don't wear any makeup, and commercials these days are like anti wrinkle creams and such, and concealers I say that you shouldn't hide your flaws, and don't hide your wrinkles because it shows that you lived a life. Sure, you may want to appear younger, but you look beautiful no matter what. You can be doing the most unattractive thing and someone out in the world would call it cute, even if it's just one person.

    I virtually never wear makeup, as I got older it became more of an occasional accessory to complete my outfit. And even then, it was merely a light coat of foundation, mascara and a pale colored or clear lip gloss. In my current work environment I somehow feel compelled to appear more mature and presentable being the youngest among my co-workers. I may also add that I am a lesbian and find the "girlier" I look, the harder it is for men especially to believe that I am not interested. I was one of those women that judged other women for wearing make-up daily. As she mentioned in this video, wearing make-up, shamefully, made me feel more confident. For whatever reason my acne as an adult has worsened and I do at times feel ashamed of the dark marks and redness on my face. This video speaks volumes of truth. The fact that you dedicate time to make yourself presentable reflects in your appearance and your own self confidence. "Not wearing make-up is just as much a mask as wearing it." Again, I also don't see myself wearing makeup as a daily routine but it is certainly something I have learned to appreciate in enhancing our appearance and us feel better about ourselves from time to time.

    I'm honestly the same way. And it's funny, because I still get asked out by a lot of guys a lot even though I don't. Pretty sure it's my weird ass personality xD I only wear mascara and a little cover up sometimes, either if I get enough sleep and have time or just for special events. I honestly don't feel the need for makeup and love my outer self. It's my inner self I have a hard time showing to people. And lips, I just like chapstick. I wear lipgloss only if it's for something fancy. The only thing that makes me girly is the fact that I love fashion and nail polish. A LOT.

I don't know anything about their relationship, so it might have just come off harsher than it actually was, but I hope he's not one of those types that get a bit controlling when a woman becomes stronger in her own person, rather than more meek and submissive. I could just be looking into things too much, and he could be a complete sweetheart, but I agree that he did come off a bit rude. There was never anything that made her seem bossy to me.

    I like what she said about how it isn't actually wearing makeup that makes you feel better, it's spending that extra time on yourself. Because for me, I think that makes up a lot of the reasons why I love makeup. It's a way for me to treat myself and have some me-time. Self-love is important to me, because I spent a lot of time before wearing makeup not caring and not putting any effort into me. I didn't start wearing makeup daily until I was a junior in high school. But I do like my face both with makeup on and without because I don't think I look too different.

    is anyone in the comments gonna be sensitive to people with acne or other skin conditions that have had easier times dealing with it because of makeup? my biggest problem is that i wear makeup and i'm not afraid to say that i'm insecure about my skin because i've had to deal with acne for years... and people always understand right away where i'm coming from. The funny thing is i love mascara and blush and throughout highschool i used powder foundation and no one said shit to me.. and i never cared about my friends who didn't wear makeup because why??? and all my friends who did we had something in common to talk about! take time to understand someones reasons behind not doing something or doing something (in this case wearing makeup) and don't put females down who are enjoying makeup or use it as a way to feel better about something that is a big insecurity in their life... we all wash our faces at the end of the day and if the people around you can't see the beauty within you and are so focused on what you do or do not do to your face they are completely missing the point. dig a little deeper and lets start supporting females and encouraging them to find that confidence so one day they can feel good about any choice they make because it's coming from a good place

Its like a nice thing to do when you wanna feel a little more confident or just want to express your style. Seriously, not everything is directed at you or about you guys. Women do things for themselves because doing what makes you happy is far beyond what any person's opinion is about you.

    People are always like "girls are insecure so they use makeup! If they were confident in themselves they wouldn't need it!" hmm so you have no insecurities? You are 100% confident in everything you do always? I don't think so. So stop blaming "insecurity" on why girls wear makeup. Everyone has freaking insecurities! Makeup doesn't even make me more confident! It doesn't! I have accepted my appearance, but I still love makeup! I like that it makes me look better, but I don't have time to wear it everyday. I don't become a different person when I have makeup on. I forget I'm wearing throughout the day.
    Anyone who says "I like natural girls" are bullshitting themselves. Makeup enhances everything our society finds aesthetically pleasing to the eye. No girl looks worse with makeup (unless she's new to it and hasn't found her rhythm yet). It just isn't possible. Does your gf look cute with and without makeup? Sure. But the makeup enhances everything she already has. That's why makeup is a huge industry.

Makeup will clog your pores and ruin your natural face, I started wearing makeup at your age, and now my skin is ruined, and because of this I need to wear makeup. Don't make the same mistake I did, or you'll end up like me." Then she directed me to the natural face cleansers.

    I don't wear it to impress people, I just feel more comfortable with it on. I have nice clear skin so that's not why, I guess I just don't like that I have dark circles under my eyes and if I just put concealer alone on to cover them, it doesn't blend well with my natural skin so I have to put foundation on. Then, that looks weird so I put mascara, bronzer, eyeliner on and enhance my eyebrows. I never wear blush or eyeshadow though. And rarely lipstick.

  • @karenvuongg

    i only wear mascara and i fill in my eyebrows and sometimes conceal some red areas on my face when i go to school and some people ask me why i do that. they either say that im tryna impress someone or cause i look ugly underneath all the makeup which im not - _- anyways, the amount of makeup that i put on my face doesnt even change how i look, all it does is makes me look like i actually have eyelashes and even skin tone. Also the eyebrows actually makes it look like i actually have eyebrows. i really think that natural looking makeup doesnt change you. it just makes some features more visible. however, its not the same as adding eyeshadow and all that crap to your eyes cause you can look completely different with eyeshadow on and all that complex contouring and stuff. but if you keep your makeup to a minimum then you can still enjoy the fun of makeup and looking like the same person at the same time. (idk what i wanted to write about so its kinda all over the place. excuse me)

    Makeup is a form of art and the boost of confidence is a plus. Some use it to "impress men", some don't. Makeup is super fun to put on. I don't wear it out often, but sometimes I put it on while I'm at home and don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon. No one's going to see me, so why? Because it's like painting, with your face being the canvas, I get the same feeling putting on makeup as I do when I bust out my acrylics. A small feeling of joy. It's like a hobby. Those that say people who put on makeup are just "wearing a mask" are wrong. We're not hiding anything! It's not like you don't know that eyeliner isn't permanently attached to the face. And to those saying something like "What if I guy likes how you look with makeup, and gets surprised when he sees how you really look?" Well, it's not really shocking to know people look a bit different without makeup and if you like someone for just their looks, well, that's superficial.

      yes I wear makeup because it makes me happier with the way I look, and I enjoy wearing it. I love how I look with or without makeup, but my body, my rules! your opinion on what I should do doesnt change what I do.

      I know it doesn't change what you do, you have the freedom to use it or not use it that's just my opinion :)

      Some girls just don't and that's okay. Makeup makes them feel confident and not so insecure. (:

      Elizabeth Zimmerman It's called having an opinion. You don't have to agree with him, and I'm pretty sure when he said that, he had no intentions of forcing you what to do with your life decisions. Just like you're entitled to your opinion so is he.

    what she said at the end- the best part is feeling that youve put effort into your appearance. i like that i tried to look nice, not necessarily 'done up',but i did something that makes me happy and also shows other people i care about my appearance which i dont think is vain but actually just a bit of self-care. and while people always will comment on your appearance, friends are still friends whether you're looking your worst or your best!

    What scares me about myself is my adamant refusal to leave the house completely bare-faced and makeup free. I tried it once, but I found that all my confidence had vanished and that I was unable to be my usual bubbly and conversational self-- I couldn't even make eye contact with people out of the shame I felt in my appearance. All I felt the entire day was discomfort in my own (literally) bare skin, and it's safe to say I'll probably never do that again.

      Nah girl, the secret IS to do it again and again. I used to feel like shit without makeup, but after a while, I realized what made me look like shit was my shitty attitude. You have to own the discomfort for a while in order for it to subside. Now I can wear as much or as little makeup as I want, and still feel fine. :)

    I don't wear make-up because I feel very uncomfortable with it, to me it feels like a layer of dirt and slime is covering my face. On top of that I am absolutely rubbish at putting on make-up, I can't even put on lipstick on without it going everywhere. I only wear make-up if I go to a wedding or an important event (even then it's just some lip gloss) or if it's fancy dress.

    OMG she's gorgeous! She is beautiful with and without makeup, and I'm glad she feels that way! I know that, when I wear makeup, it all depends on how confident I am feeling that day, and everyday ranges from Kim Kardashian makeup to none. It's amazing that she wore it for a week, and realized how much confidence it gave her, and that even with the small mistakes she admitted, she was still happy over all :)

    Four reasons why I don't wear make-up (bar lipbalm, but that doesn't count as that's for chapped lips)
    1. I have really sensitive skin. Wearing make-up for over 4 hours and my skin starts to itch (and that's with the brands aimed at sensitive skin; other brands/off-brands I last maybe an hour - 4 hours in that stuff and I get swollen skin and it hurts).
    2. I wear glasses. This is a big thing cause I love playing about with eyeshadow and such and then people just go "nice lipgloss - is it new?" and I'm like "that's my lipbalm..." and no-one notices the fine eyeliner work or whatever I've done. Just means it's pointless
    3. Not to toot my own horn (by no stretch of the imagination am I a very pretty person), but I have no blemishes, I have dark long eyelashes and my lips are pretty rosy anyway. I have nothing really to empathize or hide. Nothing that won't take plastic surgery anyway.
    4. I'm a complete and lazy sod. 30 minute extra sleep vs putting on make-up? No contest.
    My beauty regime in a morning is to brush my hair. I don't see the point of anything else (styling my hair is pointless as I play with it too much anyhoo)

      +Odalys adame Same here! I feel conservative and not like myself when I wear makeup. I'm fine with some cover up if I have something important to attend that I'd like to look good for, but otherwise it's just put glasses on and go.
