As always, I love your soft commentary, love the fact that there's no music to get in the way of me enjoying your dives...but I really enjoyed those 10 seconds of silence on that still ocean. Thank you again
I’ve spent countless hours behind a boat hanging on to a rope looking for spots. Couldn’t afford any kind of electronics back in the day. Basically a CB radio is all my Dad had. Wouldn’t trade those days for the world. Great times!
I like that you showed respect to the animal by dispatching it before consuming it. I'm the same way. I've seen too many "fisherman" being unnecessarily cruel to animals for views. A lot of people may think it's hippy dippy, but I think it makes zero sense to be cruel to an animal just because you're going to eat it. Everything that ends up on our plates had to be killed to get there, whether plant or animal. I think part of being a good hunter/fisherman/human is understanding that basic respect and quickly/humanely dispatching your harvest. So thank you for pointing it out. Wishing you tight lines and good weather!
Good vid today ! That flat water looked really nice. AND, The more I see You using the forward controls the better I like it. Room to walk around the lawn chair on deck..............
Absolutely glorious, I don't know how people don't believe in God seeing his creations. If you don't believe then no disrespect!! I just can't fathom it. I love what you do and have so much respect for you and your respect for the ocean life.❤😊
Really enjoy your videos. I learned to scuba dive in the 70’s at Deep Sea Bill’s in Newport Oregon and used to do a lot of spear fishing on the Oregon coast and Yaquina Bay. I’m 76 now and due to health reasons can’t do much diving anymore but I’m hoping to do a little shallow free diving this summer. I really appreciate your humane treatment of the fish and sealife you harvest by quickly dispatching them. You set a good example for others. I always tried to do the same. Thanks for bringing back my memories 🤗. Best to you, Madeline and Will. I enjoy the cooking segments and use some of your ideas occasionally.
Great video Aaron! That’s the quietest and calmest ocean scene that I’ve ever seen. So beautiful. Crab are so tasty when dealt with properly. Thank you for sharing!!!
Something to keep in mind! When using your side scan machine the water depth actually cuts into the distance out that you will see, so if you want to see 100 feet out while in 50 feet of water you need to set it to 150 feet
A little vinegar in the water will make the meat release from the shell. It works with steaming as well. I dont care for butter either. My favorite dipping sauce for crab/shellfish is half soy and half vinegar. Filipino soysauce has a malty taste to it.There is also a variation with pineapple in it. You can add some shopped shallots or crushed garlic as well. Love your videos as always!
Hello there boys n girls, may the fourth be with you. Yeah baby we got the gheenoe today , I was telling my wife yesterday I miss seeing that beautiful thing. Will looked really comfortable back there on that chair. Thanks Aaron once again for the awesome content.
Great video. I learned a lot from your Technique and attitude. I'll be honest. I was really rooting for Will to come up with a fish. I mean, even like a sheepshead or something small. He would have made something delicious😂
Very informative video! I wished I would have seen this the day you posted it. I just got back this evening from 8-days on Cudjoe. I have the simrad with sidescan and have never really taken the time to figure it out (didn’t understand what I was looking at, now I do). I was a couple of times during the stay including yesterday behind Sawyer looking for spots, never even thought to turn it on. I also had a good size spider crab on my canal chum bag one night…should have have grabbed it. Anyway, great conditions the whole time we were there although I thought I was going to have a heat stroke on Sunday the 2nd, zero wind on the reef…so freaking HOT! Thanks for posting!
I'm ok with being a little inconvenienced while eating if it means the animal doesn't suffer. Glad to see you're of the same mindset! (I know you say it a lot in your videos, still, it's nice to hear)
Aaron, you might be aware of this already but side scan technology is over 10 years old. The bass guys are all using Livescope aka Forward facing sonar. You can literally watch fish take your bait. I think it would be ideal for the depths you dive. You can pull up and see if fish are on the spot without having to get in.
yea I'm aware, just haven't caught up with the times. i'm all about using my resources but after a certain point I think it takes away from some of the fun!
@@KeyWestWaterman I don’t have even have sidescan. The guys are bent over on the front deck staring at a 12” screen all day long. It’s not for me, either. My game is redfish and trout on the southern end of the Texas coast. We use topwaters, spoons, some plastics and live bait. Redfish prefer mullet, trout want croakers. I just throw a 5 ft net. You have probably been down here, it’s an endless area of shallow water. Inshore is world class. The offshore bite can be awesome as well because not that many people do it. You have to run like 70 miles to hit the shelf. Big party boats doing overnight trips are popular. They do really well on snapper and tuna. Anyway… you’re awesome dude, keep the vids coming!
I just found out my Dad knows of you. I have been around boats my entire life. My father is an accomplished offshore power boat throttle man. Since his retirement he became the Captain of a Viking Princess Yacht. His client hired you for a lobster trips a couple years ago. The big boat is 3, One and One.
Great video as always. You probably already know this but that ringing is tinnitus. I used to only hear it when it was quiet. I thought that’s what you heard when there wasn’t any sounds. Nope! Now I hear it all the time.
As productive as you are with your past tools, its hard to imagine once you learn the new ones how productive you'll be then. As always fantastic video, have a great and safe fourth, next week my friend!!
I really the commentary. Most of the youtubers use unnecessary music but Aaron is different. He keep everything simple yet beautiful. The way and flow everything is fantastic.
yep fwc has closures to clean up old traps as others have noted. One thing I haven't seen mentioned, don't know about lobster traps, but most crab traps have a wood slat or netting that's supposed to rot out within a few months so they're not trapping crabs forever.
What a great video! I’ve always wondered about side scan and you broke it down super simply. Thank you. I noticed a sheepshead as soon as you got in on the first dive. I know they are not prevalent down there but that would be a great catch, clean and cook to do. Delicious fish. Nice beach chair Clams 🤣. Keep grinding! 🤙🏽
Freaking awesome as always!!! I started using side scan when hummingbird first came out with it, serious game changer! I'm on the coast in S.C. and use it in salt and fresh water. Can't imagine not having it.
Man I wish we had side scan we did the drag method. Almost looks like my old rock piles off sheriff's island and big pine ocean side of coupon night. Well away from the brain corrals. Thank you for the memories keep carrying the torch from a old ramroder.
So glad to see real life. Very inspirational. Always a treat to see the highlights of the dreams that come true. Hard to imagine all of the hard work it took to get there. Thanks
Another great show Capitan, thanks! Glorious conditions. Those spider crabs were huge, thanks for showing us how promptly you dispatched them. I was hoping your buddy would have speared a fish too! Next time. Looking forward to viewing your next show. Keep safe
How many people have 20,000 people watching them eat their noontime meal?! You are living the life so many of us dream of! I do hope you enjoyed the afternoon as well. Cool running.
Spent many years with my gheenoe mostly in Miskito lagoon. Put in at crossover or Playalinda. Only saw one kind of boat that worked better for those conditions. The bait boats. Flat bottom, pointed bow with helm at the front like yours and the kicker, the motor located mid way up the hull through the hull where a console would normally be. They looked home made.
Cool. I’m taking my maiden boat voyage soon. Ran into some ear problems recently. Don’t have side scan but look forward to putting the work in finding my spots. I’m super into the night dives from the boat too.
Love your front seat, bet it is almost 1 of a kind bu I'd be so wrong. Wouldn't want to put my skill at against my life as I would fail. Yet I know how you feel as I traversed most of the tribs around the Great Lakes.
I totally agree with the way you dispatch of those crabs 🦀. As you say boiling alive is inhumane and should be stopped as we all should know better. Great video as always.
Happy 4th to everyone! Thanks so much for tuning in!
Happy Fourth to you and yours as well! 🎇
Happy Canada & Independence Day!
Happy 4th!!!
Heres the Fl information for ghost traps.
Happy 4th!
As much art work as Will has on him you could drag him behind the boat as a teaser. Great job as usual!!
😂 we got a good laugh from that one! thanks for watching!
He has! How do you think we got the 300lb sword?
@@CookingWithClams Would like the to hear the story,s behind them. Sorry Will, i should comment on your vids first. i am behind.

10:58 -- Why not maximize freshness by keeping all the crabs alive in a bucket then dispatching them when you return to the harbor?
you could absolutely do that
