Love this type of video for stone crab. I do enjoy the traps as well, but this showed way more about their habitats. I gotta say that you may be the most chill you tuber out there. Really enjoying your channel.
@@KeyWestWaterman , I just finished the cook part of the video now as I was talking with my daughters. Looks amazing, wondering if I missed a link to the recipe for the bisque. I’m from Atlantic Canada and lobster is readily available, at a cost, and I’d love to try something a little different than my normal chowder sometime. I believe in true lobster broth, but not in heavy cream. Thanks!
What an enjoyable video. First for me to see crab catching instead of trap catching. You’re very brave! Can’t wait to go lobstering in the shallows. That recipe is a keeper for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Man that Bisque looked so good. I could eat that every day. Never thought about hand catching Stone crabs that looks like fun. Thanks for taking us along and keeping it real.
Gotta say, that bisque looked proper,my mouth was watering as you made it,and we only had our ‘tea’ (dinner in Northern England) an hour ago…try and do a Cullen Skink if you can,it’s a white fish chowder from Scotland…but uses smoked fish…even MORE fun messin !
You mentioned not knowing if people liked the stone crab videos- I found yours from 8/9 months ago then this one. I’m subscribed now, but definitely was the stone crab content that got me here! I hope to learn this someday.
The octopus would be awesome for ceviche! I found one in Belize under a dock and the locals got it immediately. I had octopus ceviche in Costa Rica too on the Pacific side. I just saw some statistics saying that about half the crabs that lose both claws die, and taking 1 claw kills far less. So I'm with you, it's wrong to take both claws. Cool video, you're doing great with keeping the content mixed up. Good job!
I'm never bored watching your under water videos. It is awesome to see the ocean floor. I also like the narrations and after thought. Keep do what you are doing. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Can't say it enough Aaron, I really respect your method's of harvest and how you handle the critters in the marine supermarket. It's way better to leave them with a claw however you know you could harvest both....and the technique of using a knife to harvest the claw ensures the health of the crab. Well done, just like the bisque. Cheers to ya 🤙🏼
Man you got me drooling over here😋 that looks amazing !!!! Funny to see Alex try your stone crab harvesting technique and be s bit freaked out. Thank you for bringing us along.
Just re-watched this episode and I think it is time for you to start small-batch bottled bisque! I promise to be your mid-west distributor. My only add to your Kimmy Swimmy recipe would be a fair helping of Sherry in place of the wine. Most of the alcohol burns off in the cooking process - what fun is that? Reason enough to keep a bottle on-hand! And I have to agree with Madeline, when it comes to heavy cream, one pint is almost the same as one cup, more is better! Outstanding episode!
Aaron thank you again for amazing video 🎃 I really love stone crab and lobster bisque. The way you prepared it, it just looked so delicious. Love y’all bunches ❤
This was a cool episode. I knew there was crabs in Florida that you can only take one claw off, but couldn’t remember the name of them, so this was ready cool to see. And catching lobster is always cool. But just remember, we never split the tails in half. Cook them whole.
@@SWFL_FISHING_239 There is a study that suggests crab mortality increases substantially if both claws are taken. And if you think about it, with no claws, the crab is reduced entirely to scavenging, and the males cannot successfully breed the females.
I spoke with a FWC Biologist this summer and the new law allowing harvest of both claws is to increase their survival rate. Apparently studies showed that if they have both claws removed they go and hide while rejuvenating. Where as with 1 claw they will still try and defend their territory.
@@comfortablynumb9342 when you use the knife to separate the claw and it reduces a tremendous amount of stress and chance to damage the crab. Lot of hacks out there just ripping claws off without a solid technique
