I have chronic migraines and I'm generally used to them so I can function through the pain, but I think it'd probably suck to get tattooed during a migraine. I know for me though, I'd still keep the appointment lol

I just got tattooed on my period today, and I feel so much more tired after. It was a small one that took only about 30 minutes, but after I felt like I had been sitting for over an hour. I don't think it hurt any more then any of my others. Holy crap I am tired though.

It took 5 sessions to finish my back and one of those I was on my period and by far it was the most painful session I had. I had to stop earlier then I did the rest of them I just couldn't stand it.
Would love if you made a video about dealing with tattoos during pain, periods, etc. or best ways to recover. My knee tattoo was swollen for way longer than I expected, I had to take all week off work :/ Love the new work btw!!
May be it's just me but I seem to forget the pain of getting a tattoo until I'm getting the next one, then go thru kind of a dejavu thing...."oh yah, they hurt this much" but then time passes (as I'm saving up $) and I just kind of forget about the level of pain. 3 weeks ago I got a dragon on my lower inner calf, mostly it was ok pain wise until we hit the front edges of the piece, close to my shin bone. Made the whole shin bone kind of vibrate and for some reason that really hurt and I don't remember my two ankle tat's or arm tat's or lower back tat hurting like that tho I'm sure they did, they must have....anywhoo the moth is beautiful and complements the entire back well =) Can't wait to see you in your beach wear
I get this, too! Completely forget about the pain until I'm being tattooed again lol. Also hate the vibration close to the bone more than the pain itself. I got my left rib tattooed a couple of months ago and yeah, it was painful, but that vibration is like nails on a chalkboard!
For women at least, I think forgetting the pain is a thing our brains do on purpose particularly for childbirth. I read it somewhere at some point. It’s interesting it does it for other types of pain as well.
I’m the opposite to this, I overhype the pain kinda crazy, I just got my knee done and was kinda freaking out for the whole week before, then I get there and I’m expecting pure hell, so by comparison it isn’t usually as bad as I expect, for some reason it always helps me sit through it

About three months ago, I spontaneously went into a shop and ended up letting my artist design something completely unique to me. I love it! It didn't hurt as much as I was expecting, either!
Chrissy Dustman that’s awesome!! I did a really similar thing with my first tattoo. I wanted to plan things out and be set on an idea of my own, but then saw a flash piece for Halloween from this one local artist and went for it. I love that someone did a similar thing lol 😄

Getting tattooed during the summer time is rough. I started getting the majority of my tattoos in March when it’s not to cold or to hott at least where I live and get tattooed. But I relate to not wanting to feel so exposed while at the shop I have a tattoo outfit for when I get tattooed depending on the spot. Love tattoo talk Tuesday’s 💜

I love when you say you have a little pow-wow at the beginning of every appt. For my sleeve that was very much the process too. We had our general consultation, but every time I have a session we chat about what direction to go. My sleeve also naturally evolved and took an few unexpected but positive turns. Overtime your tattoo artist and you will usually develop an understanding of what you both want. I felt she understood my goals for my sleeve, and I was always open to her artistic input. I couldn't be happier with the results.

Have you ever had a reaction to numbing cream? I recently used some at a tattoo convention because was getting an 8hr piece from an artist from Germany. Where we tattooed after the numbing spray got super scabby and raised and the healing process was much gnarlier than the rest of the piece. Just curious if you've ever had sensitivity to inks or numbing products? Love your videos 💕

From what I know of the numbing cream, if you were able to apply it around an hour before you get to the shop, it'll absorb into your skin more. My father uses it when he gets work done and applies it sometime beforehand, but I could see that being tough on a train.
I tapped out for the first time EVER at a tattoo convention on a back tattoo. It’s not that big but my tattooist was quite a slow tattooer. After 3 hours I just couldn’t go any longer 😢 I felt so shit about it that I couldn’t sit because I’d literally done a whole day on my thigh the same month. I’m glad you’ve talked about how painful it is cause I just felt like I was whimping out. I’m gonna have to travel to get it finished at another point and it’s put me off getting anything else on my back now. I’ll definitely leave it til last when everything else is covered!
I got a large upper mid back tattoo at the beginning of this year and boy was I not prepared for the pain of the bold black lines. The color I got in a 2nd session and that was almost hypnotizing in comparison I could have tolerated that part for a lifetime... But man the 1st session for the outlines was killer for me. I didn't know you could get tattooed with numbing cream so maybe I'll try that next time!
I am low key a little embarrassed to say this - but myself, a cousin, and my half sister (we share a mom, same side as the cousin) all sleep occasionally in the exact same position you got tattooed in. it's a strange comfort for me to get into that position when I wake up in the middle of the night, and I will often fall asleep cross legged with my face down between my knees

I’ve noticed not all tattoos are the same for pain. I got an elbow piece tattooed by someone who was a less experienced artist using a coil machine, vs an artist who is much more experienced using a newer machine (not a coil) that was on the other elbow and was twice the size. The original piece was the most painful tattoo I’ve ever had and parts didn’t hold ink after healing. And the other one I barely felt and healed fully and vibrantly.

I've had the back of my neck and my whole upper back done in one session, wouldn't recommend. 5 hour sitting on the back is very uncomfy to me as well. I love following you, especially since I plan on getting the rest of my back done as well. ♡
I feel like backs and thighs are the spots where people either tolerate it really well or it hurts like hell. I don't know about thighs, but my back wasn't bad for me, and that was my first piece. It's a tattoo, it's gonna hurt some, but taking care of yourself makes it a lot better. Eating and trying to be as comfortable as possible definately helps.
I would love to see a video on getting tattooed during your period! I got a larger tattoo on my spine on my period as my first tattoo, so I feel like getting more information on how different your pain threshold is then compared to when you’re not on your period would be interesting!
My artist got a huge tub of numbing from Korea or something that’s 15%! It has worked wonders for me to chip away my back piece because MAN does it hurt and man does the tattoo hangover after suck 😩 Healing is so annoying bc there ends up being skin flakes everywhere on my bed. I’m also honest with my artist that I can only sit for 3 hours before crying so we’ve been chipping away at my back piece slowly but surely 😊 good luck on finishing the rest! There should be a girl gang that all have big back tats lol ❤️

I had a stomach tattoo last year and was very VERY painful, I traveled 6 hours to get it and I had flu, when I was in the bus back home I felt like dying and got fever, also I discovered that I'm allergic to Saniderm 🗿🗿🗿🗿 Bad experience, but great tattoo.

3 days ago was the second time I’ve been tattooed while on my period and Omg its the worst lol. I make myself get through it but man my body feels completely exhausted afterwards.
Getting tattooed in uncomfortable positions can be brutal haha I just got a thigh piece that’s the entire side of my thunder thigh lol outline session was 2 hrs and the color was 4hrs and I had to lay on my side the whole time and move around a bit .. I was sore for days lol I also have traditional roses similar to yours on the side of my lower back and that was def painful and awkward also!!
Getting tattooed during your period is the worst pain I have ever felt and I have a ridiculously high pain tolerance. Had a large piece on the inside of my thigh done during my period and i was jumpy the whole time, didn’t plan that out well at all. Never again.
The tendons on the back of the neck and the spine hurt awful. I had that area (upper back and neck) and my leg tattooed last week. The back of my lower leg was pretty bad, but nothing like those bits on my neck.
Interesting. Hmmm My late husband tattooed & I’ve never seen that or anyone suggest it. Maybe it’s a new school thing?? Hush gel is soooo good!!!! There wasn’t such thing as it when I got my back tattooed BUT used it for other spots. It’s fantastic while it works for sure!! 😬🤘🏻
I'm got a back piece (in process) and for me the spine was not that bad but my lower back was defenetly way more 'hot' also shoulder area. The only thing I was surprised about was my side ! Like I felt tickled but with pain 😂😂 I wanted to laugh .
wait, how does the position make the finished tattoo wonky? like your friends mushroom tattoo? if you put the stencil on in a neutral position, it shouldn't really matter what position the body is in? i know the area being taut is an asset for quality and ease of tattooing, but it shouldn't make the design weird, right? like if you draw a circle on yourself, stretch your skin out and trace it, once you let go, it's still gonna be that original circle.

My spine was one of my least painful (I have a surgical scar up my spine so that might be why). Now the soft fleshy part in the back of my arm wooooo I died and bruised and cried when I got home lol
I’m still working on my back, coloring is tebori done by Takashi Matsuba at behind the circle, and my low back/spine/love handle area has been absolutely brutal (in that order). When he spent all that time down there It was the only time I’ve actually flinched. My spine woke me up from a dead sleep, and the low back is just kind of thin skin. Fucking sucks
I have a decent size tattoo on my lower right back and holy fuck that was definitely my most painful tattoo! And I still have another session left on it and idk if im gonna finish it....I just have to color it in but having to go through that again im not too sure and I had a baby and its definitely more painful then having my daughter! Meanwhile i have my ribs and both my thighs done and that was a breeze
I have been tattooed in that spot and the tattoo artist made me sit on a stool and lay my head and arms over on the tattoo table so my shoulders would be forward and my back would stretch but I didn't have to lay my weight over the legs because I was actually sitting. I don't know if I explained this well but maybe it can be helpful for further sessions? For me it was comfortable, but I also am lucky and I actually don't find the tattooing on the back painful. As always I think the tattoo is gorgeous, I love mark's work and I can't wait to see what else you would be adding to the back. I'm doing my back by adding separate pieces as well and it's fun but it's also a challenge to find the right shapes and designs to flatter both the body and the existing tattoos.
tell them you're ticklish and ask them to make sure to touch you with their hand and verbally tell you when they're going to put the needle on you every time (since you can't see it happening). i'm ticklish and got some text on my ribs. it was never an issue, but i did tell my artist ahead of time. =]]
I was in the same boat when it came to my ribs. I didn’t tell my artist before hand, but it didn’t cause too many issues. The pain of the tattoo kind of made my body just tense up and i was kind of smiling and laughing because it still tickled, but i didn’t really move. If you communicate to your artist about it, they should be able to find something that’ll help and maybe your body might take the pain over tickles!
Tell your artist ahead of time! I had to tell mine and he lets me know when he’s going to touch my ribs or the outside of my butt while he’s tattooing them!
Laying in that position and getting tattooed for extended periods of time looks brutal!!

I've had the back of my neck and my whole upper back done in one session, wouldn't recommend. 5 hour sitting on the back is very uncomfy to me as well. I love following you, especially since I plan on getting the rest of my back done as well. ♡

I feel like backs and thighs are the spots where people either tolerate it really well or it hurts like hell. I don't know about thighs, but my back wasn't bad for me, and that was my first piece. It's a tattoo, it's gonna hurt some, but taking care of yourself makes it a lot better. Eating and trying to be as comfortable as possible definately helps.

I would love to see a video on getting tattooed during your period! I got a larger tattoo on my spine on my period as my first tattoo, so I feel like getting more information on how different your pain threshold is then compared to when you’re not on your period would be interesting!
My artist got a huge tub of numbing from Korea or something that’s 15%! It has worked wonders for me to chip away my back piece because MAN does it hurt and man does the tattoo hangover after suck 😩
Healing is so annoying bc there ends up being skin flakes everywhere on my bed. I’m also honest with my artist that I can only sit for 3 hours before crying so we’ve been chipping away at my back piece slowly but surely 😊 good luck on finishing the rest! There should be a girl gang that all have big back tats lol ❤️

I had a stomach tattoo last year and was very VERY painful, I traveled 6 hours to get it and I had flu, when I was in the bus back home I felt like dying and got fever, also I discovered that I'm allergic to Saniderm 🗿🗿🗿🗿

Also: do you ever plan to get tattooed by Cris Cleen? 🙊 he is my favorite tattoo artist ever since I turned 18 and started lookin up tattoo artists on the 'gram to follow, and I got my first tattoo from him!! (Drove 10 hours from Tennessee to Austin TX to go to a convention he was at woohoo) and I love it so much and he was so great and I absolutely dreeeaaam of getting more work from him someday... so whenever I see him posting that he's doing walkins at rose I'm like.... that's qck's shop......... or whenever you post that you're going to rose I'm like.... that's cris cleen's shop....... if you happened to ever get a tattoo from him it'd be so rad to see my fav get tattooed by my fav 😝 (but i understand his stuff is a really super specific style heheh)

3 days ago was the second time I’ve been tattooed while on my period and Omg its the worst lol. I make myself get through it but man my body feels completely exhausted afterwards.

Getting tattooed in uncomfortable positions can be brutal haha I just got a thigh piece that’s the entire side of my thunder thigh lol outline session was 2 hrs and the color was 4hrs and I had to lay on my side the whole time and move around a bit .. I was sore for days lol I also have traditional roses similar to yours on the side of my lower back and that was def painful and awkward also!!

Getting tattooed during your period is the worst pain I have ever felt and I have a ridiculously high pain tolerance. Had a large piece on the inside of my thigh done during my period and i was jumpy the whole time, didn’t plan that out well at all. Never again.
The tendons on the back of the neck and the spine hurt awful. I had that area (upper back and neck) and my leg tattooed last week. The back of my lower leg was pretty bad, but nothing like those bits on my neck.
Makes me feel like the arms are going to be nothing though. So I'm sort of glad I started at such a painful spot
The back of the neck is brutal! My back piece sprawls up there and it’s an agonizing 10 minutes while the shading gets done 😩

Interesting. Hmmm My late husband tattooed & I’ve never seen that or anyone suggest it. Maybe it’s a new school thing?? Hush gel is soooo good!!!! There wasn’t such thing as it when I got my back tattooed BUT used it for other spots. It’s fantastic while it works for sure!! 😬🤘🏻

I'm got a back piece (in process) and for me the spine was not that bad but my lower back was defenetly way more 'hot' also shoulder area. The only thing I was surprised about was my side ! Like I felt tickled but with pain 😂😂 I wanted to laugh .

wait, how does the position make the finished tattoo wonky? like your friends mushroom tattoo? if you put the stencil on in a neutral position, it shouldn't really matter what position the body is in? i know the area being taut is an asset for quality and ease of tattooing, but it shouldn't make the design weird, right? like if you draw a circle on yourself, stretch your skin out and trace it, once you let go, it's still gonna be that original circle.

My spine was one of my least painful (I have a surgical scar up my spine so that might be why). Now the soft fleshy part in the back of my arm wooooo I died and bruised and cried when I got home lol

I’m still working on my back, coloring is tebori done by Takashi Matsuba at behind the circle, and my low back/spine/love handle area has been absolutely brutal (in that order). When he spent all that time down there It was the only time I’ve actually flinched. My spine woke me up from a dead sleep, and the low back is just kind of thin skin. Fucking sucks
I have a decent size tattoo on my lower right back and holy fuck that was definitely my most painful tattoo! And I still have another session left on it and idk if im gonna finish it....I just have to color it in but having to go through that again im not too sure and I had a baby and its definitely more painful then having my daughter! Meanwhile i have my ribs and both my thighs done and that was a breeze

I have been tattooed in that spot and the tattoo artist made me sit on a stool and lay my head and arms over on the tattoo table so my shoulders would be forward and my back would stretch but I didn't have to lay my weight over the legs because I was actually sitting. I don't know if I explained this well but maybe it can be helpful for further sessions? For me it was comfortable, but I also am lucky and I actually don't find the tattooing on the back painful. As always I think the tattoo is gorgeous, I love mark's work and I can't wait to see what else you would be adding to the back. I'm doing my back by adding separate pieces as well and it's fun but it's also a challenge to find the right shapes and designs to flatter both the body and the existing tattoos.

I want a back tattoo but I’m so tickled and worried that if I do I might end up ruining my tattoo and annoy the artist, what should I do?
tell them you're ticklish and ask them to make sure to touch you with their hand and verbally tell you when they're going to put the needle on you every time (since you can't see it happening). i'm ticklish and got some text on my ribs. it was never an issue, but i did tell my artist ahead of time. =]]
I was in the same boat when it came to my ribs. I didn’t tell my artist before hand, but it didn’t cause too many issues. The pain of the tattoo kind of made my body just tense up and i was kind of smiling and laughing because it still tickled, but i didn’t really move. If you communicate to your artist about it, they should be able to find something that’ll help and maybe your body might take the pain over tickles!
Tell your artist ahead of time! I had to tell mine and he lets me know when he’s going to touch my ribs or the outside of my butt while he’s tattooing them!
