I'll wait for a 2.0 release because for the price this guy retails, not only should there be NO tolerance issues, it should come encased in a gold brick.
Missed the dinosaur head side to side joint, the robot butterfly shoulders and upper thigh swivels.

Really big fan of yourself, and Beast Wars, so I really hope you see this :)
1 There is an additional double hinge for the (Robot Mode) neck to lift the head up for completely unhindered head articulation. You need to lift it out of place from the inside before locking in the back during transformation, pulling the head up just pops it off the ball joint.
2 (Robot Mode)Thigh swivel. Hindered by the hip pieces a bit, but it's there. Maybe you need to make sure the purple lower crotch piece is brought 100% forward before using it. Just be careful here because some people have snapped their crotch pieces.
3 Butterfly joint in the (Robot Mode) Shoulders! You needed to push the shoulders back for transformation.
4 (Beast Mode) Tongue articulation. Not sure if you mentioned it, but you definitely didn't show it.
5 (Beast Mode) The head moves left and right, not just up and down.
6 You didn't show the light up eyes with two LEDs, which is awesome for beast wars collectors because two of the other mp beast wars figures have the same feature (Optimus Primal and Dinobot).
7 The backpack can double hinge to connect together at the bottom and secure a bit, or double hinge out for a bit more room for the arms to get into different positions.
8 I believe the (Robot Mode) arm can lock into the tail better by collapsing it into the tail, but honestly this is the only one I'm not certain on without him in hand yet.
Radio Free Cybertron Review at 28.08 shows the neck articulation I'm referring to. He did pop the head off the ball joint, but this actually gives us a very good look.
These points IMO definitely help bring the price point into perspective, although I completely agree and wish his shoulders, waist and that sliding part were better toleranced.
Here's hoping Robert D shouts out some guy found 8 points you missed ^.^
you are correct about the tail locking point. however when you connect it the angle of the tail is a bit strange.
4. It wasn't the best angle but he showed the tongue moving at 6:44

Oh, the character design. It actually makes me feel a bit of pity for this incarnation of Megatron. Imagine this guy trying to button a shirt... Or scratch his ball bearings... Or do anything that couldn't be accommodated by a huge T-REX head for a hand.
Some of the most WTF? moments from Beast Wars, for me, was the dino head's eyes looking around while Megatron was in robot mode.

Hey Bobby did you forget a step? I've seen in other reviews that the grey shoulder pieces move and click into place. Just wondering if that would help at all with holding the arm in place. Great review, these BW figures really bring the CGI animation to life

The tail can lock forward on the arm. Just as there is that purple/black connection behind the elbow, there is another connection on the forearm. It tucks the hand pretty far into the tail which is toy & toon accurate.

Okay, compliment time: that was a very good objective review despite your well-known dislike for Beast Wars, Bobby. this was a very good and complete review. Initially passed on this toy due to the price. Now I believe I will be passing on this toy because of the engineering issues you pointed out.
I also have to add I loved your April fool's joke you pulled on your buddy. That was hysterical!
you actually do get an upper thigh swivel right at the top where it connects to the hip. it's limited by the side guns though.
I'm definitely going to pick this up someday but I'm going to wait for the reissue just in case they fix any of the tolerance issues.

I would like to see an MP-43+ Beast Wars T-Rex Megatron where he is a homage to his Beast Wars toy counterpart.

That's a great paint job, but that transformation step and those stress marks are a shame.
Head does come out as a double joint if you pop it up from the bottom. Or just pull it up and sure someone else mentioned the tail can lock in

I think this figure looks really good, both modes are done very well, and the paint looks awesome. The big problem is I've never been a real big fan of the Beast Wars character designs. I think the Beast Wars figures would make a very excellent display, but I have to say that the ever increasing price of these figures I'm glad this is one part of the Masterpiece line I can keep giving a miss. Thanks for the review. I always look forward to your reviews of these characters I don't plan on getting.

Honestly the issues I'm seeing I wouldn't want a KO either, even if it was higher quality. I'd rather just wait for a 3P company to do a better figure (which will take quite a while I know)

I know price is tricky to talk about but how does this stack up as a $350 figure. I know you can find it for less but most places advertise it as $350. It doesn't seem to have any dicast. If I have $350 to spend should I get this or ft omega supreme, which is a better bang for my buck? Do you think takara are over pricing their figures?

Yes, yes you can; in fact you can take off the hip plates and shoulder pads to unarmor him
Bobby just letting you know that the arm is supposed to be inside the tail unless your taking it off
I know you're not a BW fan but I'm glad you still reviewed this guy. I'm not going to pay this price for him. This tron is way to pricey, just like the g1tron.
Ever since reviews started showing up I’m really annoyed with Takara for not including the stand which is an existing piece they can make. Takara also do seem to be dropping the ball with a lot of the joints by not ratcheting them and the fact those tabs all end up with stress marks.
All that said I do still love this as a figure but feel that Takara are losing their way in some respects to sturdiness, product lifespan and care. They need to really start upping their game with these issues.

You forgot about the butterfly joints in his shoulders . Also his “ lounge “ mode . Whatever through . That’s what the back of the box is for . Good to see you didn’t break him like some other ham hands reviewers.

Jeez this thing is impressive looking, Id be too scared to break it for me to play with it though xD Especially with how expensive it is and how all the panels peg together in dino mode(thank god it at least doesnt tab together super tightly) and then that scary midrif...oof
To be fair though, I kinda felt the same about masterpieces in general before I got into them but it turns out I totally dare to "play" with em without worrying about anything.But none of em have any stressmarks after even years of transforming. Although I did immediately break my mp shadow panther after getting it due to a stupid mistake on my part xD but I got replacement parts from takara to do the repairs so that didnt even turn out to be bad at all.
Maybe the US release will include David Kaye's voice clips and Duckitron

I grew up with Beast Wars in the 90's, way before I even got into G1 which was in my teenage years. I'm going to skip the whole beast wars line as a whole. I almost fell into the pit when I first saw MP-43 Megatron, which almost prompted me to buy an MP Primal, but after seeing multiple reviews on it, I'm glad I didn't take the dive lol
I just can't wait for Takara to re-focus the line on the original G1 characters. We badly need a G1 Jazz, Hound and Trailbreaker......
This is a very expensive collector piece and for that amount of money we should get a near perfect piece not a very good with some issues piece. That being said I bought it for $250 with shipping included and I'm waiting anxiously to get my hands all over it. My favorite TF cartoon series is BW so I'm happy with all the BW Masterpieces that have been coming out lately.
Tsk Tsk Robert should have more faith in those snausage fingers to handle his figure just fine.

The engineers clearly used the original toy as a starting point for this. Looks sharp. Those stress marks sound concerning though.
Check Benscollectables' review if you want to see someone transform the figure properly. No stress marks.

Bobbay, usually I maybe 80% agree with you and less than that when it seems you don't like the character and are nitpicking. In this case, I'm a huge BW fan and love BW Megatron, yet I agree with your review almost 100%. Fiddly panels that easily separate when you mess with the figure, stress marks on tabs from one or two careful transformations, no flight stand, reports of crotch breakage, that torso part that takes way too much force, and not to mention the iconic beloved original English voice acting of David Kaye not being incorporated as an optional switch is a lot of negatives for the price. I do think it looks excellent in both modes though, yeeesss.
Seeing that robot mode the first thing I wondered was how he was meant to wipe his ass..
Two possilities:
Both Megatron's usual "servants"
Waspinator or Inferno
Maybe you felt like you shouldn't cause you think you'd break it, but the back kibble and t-rex tail can also be removed completely. Goes without saying but the Voice features are Japanese so dont expect a buttery smooth "yesss" to come out of this toy.
i love the character but Im on a LOW RATE stint so money is tight and I had to cancel. He is too overpriced and now with a 3rd/4th party transmetal megatron and dinobot on the way im sure they will make one of this one
The robot mode looks great, but overall the quality of this toy doesn't seem to live up to the price tag. He's big, and he's complicated but those two attributes don't automatically make the figure great and for the price you shouldn't settle for less than great.
Not for me, looks good and I'm happy for the people that wanted one. Great review though. Thanks

We didn’t sing the stress marks song.
YOU FORGOT to push the crotch part backwards and the shoulder pieces backwards durinh transformation. The waist should be pushed backwwards hence the crotch part is backwards. You missed a lot of things in transformation into robot mode, and the neck there is a hinge as you press the head up during early transformation you can press the hinge up, hence he will have a "neck".

Alao, you forgot to show how the armor pieces come off as a feature for another robot look.
1) The tail can lock in place to the arm in bot mode.
2) I skipped around looking for key parts of your revenue to compare to the other 3 that I've watched. I didn't see/hear you say it, but based on the comments you had issues with tolerances and none of the other reviewers I watched had tolerance issues.
Sometimes I feel like you rush through your reviews. I feel like you do so because you're trying to get a lot done every day. You're clearly very busy with family, art, display/diarama building, filming and editing, and tons of other stuff. May I recommend taking more time to slowly and gently practice transforming these figures multiple times before filming. I think you could produce better content. I think your viewers would appreciate your reviews even more than they already do AND I think your serious fans will forgive you for putting out less content in exchange for better content.

Bobby your reviews have come a long way. You're not as ham handed as you used to be. Beautiful figure, but BW is not cup of tea. I got a couple of episodes in and had to turn it off.
I got lucky with my copy! The T-rex head arm is tolerances perfectly to hold it at any angle. But there's also a ratchet joint for the arm right next to the friction joint at the shoulder that should hold it up as well. Did I miss that in your review? If so, my bad

Wow. I am glad I saw this...why would I spend over $250 for a Transformer that is built like a Titans Returns toy? Dare I say that the Titans Return toy may not fall apart when you transform it while this one crumbles and panels fall out? Literally, I have seen Voyager or Leader Class Hasbro Transformers (non-masterpiece) built better! No sale for me until it is under $100!

That waste swivel is pretty god damn lose for a 320 buck figure, not to mention stress marks and a broken crotch. Saving plastic for Electronic Japanese voice which i would never want to hear, no thanks. I'll wait till they re-issue the OG BW Megatron back in the 90s and add that bad boi to my collection.

Most people here in the states are paying $320. There's plenty of places that sell it cheaper if you're purchasing it directly from Japan and not from a store that buys it then resells it to you. The guy on the phone said he got it from Amazon Japan which ships worldwide. So you can probably get it cheaper as well by shopping there instead of places like Robot Kingdom, BBTS or TFSource.

Easily the best storyline of all the series has to offer and some of the best characters. I grew up with BW though so i understand how people over the age of 30 wouldn't like it.
@@kingragnork Some ppl just watch the beginning an, yeah, it's hokey at first, but Midway through the first season it starts gelling together as a narrative when the writers got the ok to shit-balls to the wall. Most ppl can't seem to get past the early eps.

I'm so glad I didn't spend the Japan cost of $200+, let alone standard retail of $330 for this. People defending Takara want to talk about them stepping up to the big boys level to justify the sky rocketing costs but I just don't see it. If I did have this figure I would be terrified of breaking it every time I touched it and that is no way to enjoy a figure. I got a hands on opportunity with the BW Dinobot one time but I was too scared to do anything with it because it felt so fragile to me in hand. I did not want to have to risk spending $250 to replace it if I did break it.
While I don't care for beast transformers in general I do like dinosaur ones. It's disappointing that they ramped up the price so much while leaving so much to be desired on the materials.

Yes but the non transmetal bots really need an update. The transmetal ones are pretty accurate compared to season one.
