I take a look at the ToysMage Megatron , another Masterpiece Figure gets the KO treatment, did anyone hold out for this or did you go and buy the official when it was released?

So far I'm really impressed with him (I have the Infinite Transformation Megs too) haven't looked at T-Rex mode yet.
No batteries and no instructions...this is gonna be fun.

I really think MP-43 is still considerably better than TM01. The only thing I wish I could do was somehow swap the voice boxes... MP-43 not having the david kaye voice clips is just one of the greatest injustices in TF history

Mine finally arrived today after a month of waiting. Really impressed with it, can't stop playing around with it next my MP Optimus Primal. The only issue with mine is that the waist keeps untabbing itself but I'm still happy with this.

Thanks for this video as I just got the 'reworked' version of this KO in the mail. Just a brown box, no sheet on how to transform, etc. So far I'm loving it simply due to the price difference, but there are some real tab issues and stress points on the tail I've noticed. As with any KO though - issues are gonna be there. For the most part though, quite happy not having to shell out 400 bucks.
I am only 7 minutes in, and the English voice clips, though just pulled from the show, sound great!
I like the *look* of the original more, but that David Kaye voice... Yesssss

Would be nice if they made a T-Wrecks repaint. Of a repaint in Jurassic Park rexy colors.
Hopefully we get a T-wrecks repaint from them, I'd definitely buy that.
Funny thing: the War for Cybertron Trilogy - Kingdom Leader class BW Megatron _is_ supposed to be getting a Generations Selects T-Wrecks repaint, as well as a possible repaint as the T-Rex from Jurassic Park (or Jurassic World) for a possible Transformers x Jurassic Park crossover...yet Takara's done absosmurfinlutely *NOTHIN'* with the MP43 mold.
Am I the only one who wishes that the dino head could be removed to reveal a hand that is noticeably larger than his other one? JUST so we can get a full on protoform look?

The KO looks great - but the Takara looks amazing. Not sure it's worth the price difference, but that doesn't change that fact.
I think this is a pretty good solution for someone who wants BW Megatron that isn’t really the biggest BW fan. The real version is just so expensive.
I’m torn on the paint scheme. I actually like the bright goofy purple it originally had bc it’s accurate, but this is nice too. Feels like a comic book drawing. And he’s in English. Torn, very torn

Just received my ko mp dinobot and megatron today god they look beautiful they do feel a bit loose and flimsy but still for that price tag compared to the official ones can't go wrong, I got a ko mp of optimus primal coming as well I'm still debating if I will get the cheetor and tigertron.

Not sure if anyone figured this out... (since I'm late in the game) but the reason why the waist leans back and doesn't lock into place (unlike the nice ratcheted ab crunch) is because the two part, folding piece behind his neck is on an almost invisible double hinge! if you don't notice it, you will only fold the top piece using one hinge. If you fold the double hinge the entire piece tucks in a much more compact way and the entire front/chest slides back ALL the way back and thus, locks properly (without any force or much effort) locking the waist from that annoying backwards, loose lean. :)
With the two Megatrons posed together in T-Rex Dino mode, you could almost recreate that scene from The Lost World: Jurassic Park where we see the two Tyrannosaurus Rexes hunting together

That is actually a really nice piece. Super happy with my official MP BW Megatron, but this could always be my robot mode version....decisions.

Aesthetically, I feel the original figure is superior (especially in beast mode, though even in robot mode) -- David Kaye voice clips are just too good to miss.

pixelman619 color scheme is also a factor because some people won’t like the darker colors (I don’t like the clear eyes with the light for the Dino head)

I'm not crazy about the darker color on the knock off. The new LED gimmick in the t-rex head turns me off to it as well. Something the authentic one did right was the red plastic for the eyes. It looks better than it being transluecent. I do appreciate the addition of David Kaye's lines being added to the KO. Japan underestimated how popular he is in the West.

I got the ToysMage one. The panels on the underside of the neck will not tab in for the life of me. Definitely disappointed about that, but I'm trying to look on the bright side of how it's on the underside so it won't be as noticeable for the most part, plus his big bad Megatron conqueror mode looks just amazing from all angles.

I love mine the only issue i have is for the head (not the T-rex head)leds for some reason keep dying even tho i put in brand new batteries other then that i love the figure for a 1/3 the price and eng voice clips so worth it

@@ultranova9599got mine less than 80 and gotta say, it disappointed me lol. The right arm broke the dino head and the right wing all on the right side. The quality of the plastic feels really cheap. Idk if its only my copy but yea it was terrible. I got it cheap cuz of the discounts
They added tabs for the back kibble on the newer versions. He's great
Just for laughs you should get the new release. Apparently their “improved” paint apps on the new batch are just awful and it makes me regret I missed out on the first release :’(

Takara Tomy seems better, they just need to change or update the voice into David Kaye.
The original is always going to have slightly higher build quality, but it's never gonna be worth $400 CAD despite what Takara thinks

I'll always support official products where I can see the value. I saw the value in the original MP-43 so I was happy to pay for it. I did not see the value in MP-44 so will wait and see what the KO companies come up with. I'm glad I got the official here because that KO dino mode is hideous!

Sometimes I have to wonder are they stealing the molds from the factories. Although I am disappointed that there are no quotes from jobby the hong’s review where David Kaye did voice lines for Megatron.
It is an interesting tidbit to wonder how exactly these KO's are reversed engineered with such accuracy but I can assure you that there is absolutely no chance on Earth that the real moulds were stolen. Injection molds are expensive and designed to be used thousands of times before going through any sort of mold degradation, *Any* toy realistically is going to only have a couple of moulds used actively at a factory and honestly for the niche collector figures like masterpieces I wouldn't be surprised if each MP only had one injection mould in active use. Again the tooling and machining of these original moulds is *extremely* expensive, any one mould is going to create a mass amount of figures. Case in point, I don't think they would be that easily stolen considering how much value to have to Takara. Moulds don't get thrown out when a figure ends production, they would be retained for future use in potential reissues or archival purposes since quite a few of the original G1 moulds ended up extremely damaged or destroyed because nobody cared that much at the time. This figure also came out like almost a year after the original, that's pretty telling to me. I'm pretty sure these people just disassemble the original figure in painstaking detail and spend an immense amount of time creating a clone mould.
Maybe a blueprint leak from somewhere related to Takara.
Er... it's not that difficult as long as they know what they're doing. Easiest way, I assume, would be to dismantle the original figure and create casting molds for each piece. That would account for the iffy tolerances for some KO figures.

So I finally had the chance to order this Badass McBeast. (I intended to anyway, and now it's doubling as a consolation prize for the complete inability to find Kingdom Leader class BW Megatron anywhere)
EDIT 2021Apr25: Yeah, I'm starting to hate this thing. It's largely the fault of how the design & engineering work, there's no way KO manufacturers could overcome some 🕊️💩 like this!! Nothin' wants to line up properly, nothin' wants to tab into place correctly, the dino head & neck can't even REACH where it needs to tab into, it's a overcomplicated, overengineered, panel-riddled hot mess, and I bet that the legit MP43 is every bit as obnoxiously annoying!! I've had folks literally talk me down because I was annoyed to the point I was gonna have this figure meet the wall. Violently. At high speed.
That said, I am gonna transform it back to robot mode when I feel like it, and once I do so, it's going to _*STAY THERE PERMANENTLY*_!!! 👿👿👿👿👿
UPDATE 2023Mar07: Wow. Almost two years later. Something I forgot to mention is that the feet kinda suck, if he's not positioned just right, he will flop over forward at the toe joints...and it's potentially worse in T-Rex mode, at least with my copy, anyway. As for how "he just looks naked" without his armor parts, ehhh, that's the point, though...and a point never heard from again once he gets his Transmetal and later Transmetal 2 upgrades.

Noob question whats the difference between KO and not KO and what is KO? Version
KO stands for “knockoff.” The figure reviewed is NOT the official release by Takara and/or Hasbro. A third party company either were able to obtain the design specs for the official figure or reverse engineer it. In the past, such figures made by third party companies were usually considered cheap, highly fragile cash grabs.
However, more and more companies are putting more effort into these figures, making them a cheaper, but almost as good alternative to the originals. Some even use the official molds as a base and add their own design improvements to attract customers. Transformers are known for having a number of third party companies that do this and collectors are normally willing to shell out cash for quality knock offs.
Does anyone have issue with the torso not tabbing in securely in robot mode?

jilm101 Yeah, but it keeps getting undone while I am posing the figure.
maxdudomite yep, mine will not tab securely no matter what. There are two spring loaded tabs on the back of the torso that should clip the dinosaur stomach panel in place and it just doesn’t work. I’m glad Ben got a good one but mine physically cannot tab together in dinosaur mode and the torso doesn’t secure at all for robot.

If it doesn’t want to go , get a hair dryer on it and apply a little heat for approx 10-15 seconds the try again , may be a tight fit

Any recommendations, can't seem to be able to collapse the torso going from robot to dinosaur, can't seem to align the small groves, I don't know if its a factory error or something but the holes are slightly misaligned with the groves :(

Mine too. Used sandpaper to widen the grooves. Still can't get top panel to tan though grrrrr
