    So 800 plus on motor only, approx 1200 with the giggle gas. From a 5.15 liter motor. That revs to a sport bike mimicking 10000 rpms. This dad raised his boy right. Amazing, there are no words.

    good to see the Holbrook name still on the cutting edge of drag racing, hell its gotta be 6 decades!!! i remember going to Carl's(chris' dad) shop Holbrook enterprises as a kid with my dad and uncle for hi-po FE parts and machine work on thier motors etc. Mr Holbrook was always very nice and we always got a tour of the back shop to see his latest builds and cars he had. In the pits at the track they were the same way, great great Ford racing family. i always love seeing all the Holbrook stickers on all the street outlaws guys cars from Detroit reppin that olde english D 👍

    There is no replacement for displacement except for 4 valve heads, turbochargers, superchargers, and nitrous oxide. I was lucky enough to witness the big blocks of the sixties. My bone stock 68 CJ Mustang never ran quicker than 14's. My 2021 GT Mustang could probably run easy 12s but I am content with watching from the sidelines. I did watch late model CJ Mustangs run the 7s recently at Rockingham.

    • @soulcapitalist6204
      @soulcapitalist6204 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've always been skeptical about DOHC 4v. A tall deck OHV small block should make power in the same engine bay or footprint.
      1200hp on a 350 shot from a 314 makes a very good counter argument.

    • @177SCmaro
      @177SCmaro ปีที่แล้ว

      That stuff doesn't really replace displacement it just maximizes the power from the displacement you've got. There are plenty of big inch motors in that make 800 to 1200hp and beyond.

    • @177SCmaro
      @177SCmaro ปีที่แล้ว

      @@soulcapitalist6204 Usually, dohc has the advantage in HP/ci. Pushrod engine usually have the advantage in HP/footprint. As in life, it's a tradeoff.

    • @soulcapitalist6204
      @soulcapitalist6204 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@177SCmaro True. The issue is that displacement is only limited in racing so in any given engine bay, I think a taller stroke (or big block) will always be worth more power than the 4v heads which take up the same space (while weighing more). LT engines are a great example. If direct injection and varicam is added to an ohv, the ohc advantage is almost forfeit. Almost. 1200 from 314ci is very impressive if you have to keep displacement or fuel economy in check.

    • @177SCmaro
      @177SCmaro ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@soulcapitalist6204 Difficult to say since there is such a wide variation in both engine and engine bay size and shape. A lower displacement but dohc engine, for example, will likely be as wide or possibility wider, than a larger displacement engine but also shorter lengthwise since it's bore spacing is naturally smaller.
      An easy example for me is the difference in dimensions between a Ford Coyote and 454 Chevy. With tall valve covers the big block is about as wide (~30 inches), same as the Coyote, but is a longer engine lengthwise. This results in a similar footprint. Granted, if you use small valve covers on the big block it will be a inch or so narrower and that narrowness, if that's a word, will be up higher.
      The stock Coyote makes around 420-450hp. No problem at all for the big block, many 454s came stock with around that power, but for the big block to have the same hp/ci it would need to make 620-660 from 7.4L so it would need to be beefed up a bit with a carb, cam, compression, heads, headers, etc.
      Either way, both are perfectly valid ways to make power from said footprint, one's high tech, one's big bootied.
      If your interested go look at the video clips on my channel to see what a dohc engine looks like in the engine bay of a car intended for a small or big block.

      Light CNC ported Trickflow heads, 38cc chambers, custom camshafts from Todd Warren, Port matched intake( pi for street/autocross, eldebrock for drag), big bore pistons to unshroud the valves while adding compression and cubic inches.
      Making power is all about CFMs in and out of the engine. If the heads don’t flow and the cams/intake aren’t matched, the engine will never make the power. Hence why even this 314 cu in can make so much power. Oh and RPMs. Horsepower is just Torque X RPM divided by 5252. If it’s street, aim for torque and decent RPMs. If it’s all out race, lightweight and Rev as high as you can

      Don't know the specifics but it's definitely something by VP Racing, their sticker's on the car.

    lol, it's not any secret how you get 800hp from a little over 300ci - buttload of cam(s), compression, rpm, and airflow.

      Takes a pristine case to make it hold up but yes, just not long term reliable imo since the parts are so small and limitations of input shaft size of a C6 then it takes a lot of custom parts to survive....but yes its people that do it lol
