Thanks for showing the dismantling is possible using normal tools. Good method to release the tube from the muffler, so the tedious work releasing the bend from tube can be made on a table with space around... I have same engine and even less space around it. I plan to get a moulded knee, believing it is best considering the salty hot water and sometimes long breaks not using the engine... Am I right in that ??
@@solosailingseabird6062 YES same here i was in the Scilly Isles last year with my daughter and she want to go back again in the summer. so we might meet up. got to check the school holidays "Poppy is 11"
Thanks for that. Really useful. I’m a newbie sailor ! A couple of questions please…….. Where did you get the replacement elbow from, I presume not Volvo ? Is there a problem having two dissimilar metals (stainless and iron) connected or does the gasket take care of any risk of galvanic corrosion? How old was the original elbow? I have just bought a boat (D1-30 engine) which is 10 years old, 500 hours on the engine and the elbow is original. Do you think I should be looking to change the elbow now ?
thanks, very useful.
