Hi Stephen, thanks for posting your first solo passage. Did you have AIS while you were sailing at night?
Yes I have a Raymarine ais 700 transponder, it was the first upgrade I made to my boat , I have solo sailed my boat to Portugal this summer details on my other channel “ the happy sailor “
the air filter has a nut on the end of that tube as well as the jubilee clip
Yes sorry you are correct
thanks, very useful.
Thanks for showing the dismantling is possible using normal tools. Good method to release the tube from the muffler, so the tedious work releasing the bend from tube can be made on a table with space around... I have same engine and even less space around it. I plan to get a moulded knee, believing it is best considering the salty hot water and sometimes long breaks not using the engine... Am I right in that ??
Nice work.
thanks
Great video, and Sea Bird loo0ks like a very nice boat.
I enjoyed this. Nice content, we have a similar video style, I'm also sailing a Bavaria on my channel, enjoying the Norwegian coast in the foreseeable future. I think I'll push that subscribe button and follow your Bavaria adventures. Thanks for shearing. Best regards from Jarle
Thanks for that. Really useful. I’m a newbie sailor ! A couple of questions please…….. Where did you get the replacement elbow from, I presume not Volvo ? Is there a problem having two dissimilar metals (stainless and iron) connected or does the gasket take care of any risk of galvanic corrosion? How old was the original elbow? I have just bought a boat (D1-30 engine) which is 10 years old, 500 hours on the engine and the elbow is original. Do you think I should be looking to change the elbow now ?
That's a fine looking boat behind you Brian Brou. 😉 it's mine, I will be down at mine at the weekend I will keep a eye on yours. Great video
Thanks , keep in touch, heading to the Scillies again this summer, trying to organise a couple of boats to make the trip together, mid June .
@@solosailingseabird6062 YES same here i was in the Scilly Isles last year with my daughter and she want to go back again in the summer. so we might meet up. got to check the school holidays "Poppy is 11"
Well done. I have been to the Scillys 2 years in a row and it keeps getting better every time, I will be bring my boat up to Waterford at the end of Sep for the winter " Brian Brou" I will keep a eye out for you to exchange yarns about the Scillys. CHEERS T.J. 😉☘⛵️🇮🇪😉⛵️🇮🇪
Thanks TJ , I often seen your boat in Dun Laoghaire , I look forward to meeting you in late September .
Great Video. 1 concern I'd have is the way you've strapped the PLB to your lifejacket... if you fall in and the lifejacket auto inflates, that PLB will pop off and be fairly useless as it sinks to the bottom, as it's not in its floating pouch! I'd say a much better bet would be strapping it to the lifejacket belt/strap, and not around an area of teh jacket that will inflate. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks Andy , I have that PLB connected to the life jacket with a line " not visible in video
well Stephen, great video and well put toghter. I am headin to the Scillys This week and have a question for you. were you able to anchor in New Grimbsy habour and did you get charged ???? my boat has a fin keel also. I have anchored in St Helens pool but like the look of New Grimsby. Fair winds T.J.
sorry for late reply , I was away on Holiday , no charge to anchor on the Bryher side of New Grimbsy
