Those two bikes, yes. Back in 1972/3 I was trying to decide between them to haul me, my girl friend and a load of camping gear from London to Greece. The T500 - too slow (it had to keep up with a friend's Triumph Trident). The H1 (an H1B at that point) - too expensive on fuel. I ended up buying an XS2 Yamaha, a bike about as far from these two as it's possible to get. I now have an early H1 - a 1970, the year before your blue one - and realise how crazy the idea of riding it to Greece two up would have been. Even without the fuel cost issue, it's uncomfortable, eats spark plugs and the handling, well, lets just say it takes some getting used to. We'd have ended up in a ditch in the Greek mountains for certain. But for short trips round here, even now that three cylinder engine is just great.
A beautiful bike. I use to own a 1971 T350 back in the day. Gold colour. I miss that bike even after all those years. Nothing like a 2 stroke. Cheers NZ.
Had one in the eighties that I swapped a KE125, no idea of mechanics then as when I turned the lights on the power dropped. Next time I saw one was in a racing exhibition in Douglas museum, still beautiful in race trim
Beaut job mate these were out quite a bit b4 I got interested in bikes but my cousin had one and I went past an immaculate one on the motorway once the guy was just taking it easy same colour as yours
Had a couple of these.first one in the mid seventies seconds one late seventies. Only issue I had was a very noisy second gear so engine out and new gear clusters fitted compliments of Derek Loan motorcycles who unfortunately are no longer trading.

Hi, I have been following all video on the T500 and the result is beautiful. I got this bike in 71 with the same colour and my dream is to find one to refurbish. Unfortunately, my wife tells me that I cannot keep two bikes in the garage. I have already a CB 750 K1 from 71. As you have both the H1 and T500, could you compare both? Best regards. Philippe from France
The rubber I got is technically for the later T500 the 1975 model, that’s the only one that’s available on the Internet, it does fit, you just need to twist it round a bit and clamp it with the big jubilee clip, then it will all line up with the carburettors without any problem. Hope that helps 🙂
@@mcmechanic864 Thanks, I'm toying with getting an earlier one or a later one. Like you, I've just done a GT750 a while ago and fancy a smaller Two Stoke but I quite like the way Suzuki did things. Kettles are a lot easier to get parts for it appears.
@@mcmechanic864 yes, I think in the past it was possible to communicate via email but I can't find that option anymore. Don't want to publish my telephone number here 😁

A superb job, you don’t cut corners. A beautiful bike, well done young man.It sounds like 1971,brilliant 😊
Many thanks!
Regarding the chroming of your exhausts, I would recommend S&T Electroplate near Bristol. They did a fantastic repair and chroming of my H2 exhaust 👍
Oh ok thanks 🙏 I’ll check them out

Villiers should have imported the engines in the late 60s and then they could have been put in bikes like the Arial. Would have been awesome.
Looks fantastic
Thaats a lovely bike
Thanks for a very informative rebuild series. I do hope that you get another project. Will your wife not allow them in the house 😊
Probably not 😂
Very nice, great work!
I really like the T 500, I've been looking for one for a while!

That’s a good idea, I might just do that 👍🙂
Good afternoon. Could I ask did you encounter any problems fitting the airbox on to the rubber airbox unit. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks Ray.

What did you do with the Air Filter? You were having issues sourcing spares in you last video
I’ve reused the old one for now,
I spent a lot of time cleaning it up and seems fine. I’m still looking on eBay for a new one
