I've been running a 2021 DF300B on a custom 28' Aluminum boat offshore on the coast of Oregon. We are at 470 hours and I am blown away by the performance of this motor. The boat weighs about 7500 most days and we run it hard chasing TUNA! and most anything else we want to fish for. We burn 87 octane street gas and have not had any problems.

I owned a rib in the Mediterranean with two Suzuki 300 ap and I have done almost 500 hours without a single problem. Now I went for a bigger rib, about 12.5 meters and I decided to go again with 3 Suzuki 300 apx. Always used Suzuki and I will again and again

I put a 200 on my 1999 champion 202 only after following your channel. Tell Suzuki that. I didn’t want the extra weight on my older transom, and at 66, speed is not my top priority, dependability is. It is absolutely the best motor I have ever owned. It is wonderful.

I bought a new 25 hp Suzuki 4 stroke FI. 5 years ago. Love it!!! Replaced a 40 hp johnson. (My boat is rated for 30hp) got it on a 15 foot Express john boat. My wife and I fish a lot here in Alabama. Flawless motor, gets great fuel economy.

I watched a couple die in a boat that was 10HP overpowered like yours. They put those ratings on the boats for a reason. Admittedly this couple did something stupid (hard over giving full throttle - boat flipped over) but we do stupid things sometimes. The 2 young children on board lived because they had PFD's on but now they have no parents.

When my Optimax blew up, I repowered my 2013 Triton 21HP with a 250ss. My local Mercury dealer started selling Suzuki. I chose to go with Suzuki due to reliability. There is not a lot of setup info for my combo and no one in my area running a Suzuki on a bass boat. It took time and a lot of props to get it right. Thanks to your channel, I ended up with a Scorpion prop and swapped out the inlet screens. I lost 3 mph but I have seen 72 with the Suzuki. If I had it to do over again I would go Suzuki again and again. Thanks Team Marine for your informative videos.

From what I read on the Spec sheets Suzuki usually gears the lower units with more gear reduction so finding a prop they like is much different that a Merc, tohatsu, or other

I used to run a 2007 Suzuki DF40 and I only have good things to say about it. It had some issues, but they could have easily been avoided with proper maintenance. The issues that even the repair shops couldn't solve(but happily took my money) made me take matters into my own hands and fix it, and it was very easy to work on. When it ran as it should, it had astonishing fuel economy, extremely low noise level at cruising speed and an amazing amount of torque for a 4 stroke of that size, due to bigger displacement than the competitors even to this day. I used to load up my 14ft inflatable with up to 9 people, and it would pull us up on plane with the standard prop and it still operated within recommended WOT rpm range. It made a nice growl too, being a 3 cylinder. Even though I ran Hondas, Yamahas and Mercs, there was something about Suzuki that spoke to me on a different level, and it may be subjective but if I was buying another outboard, it would most probably be Suzuki.

I’ve owned Suzuki since 1995. I just traded in my 25hp short shaft electric start 3 cyl ,three carb which had siix yr. Warranty that I never used. I just bought an 2021 -4 stroke 25 hp. short shaft electric start with power tilt and trim which has an 5 yr warranty. I broke it in this last yr being my first 4 stroke that I have ever owned. It’s so quiet with no smoking at early morning start ups. In my two weeks fishing at our yearly resort this 4 stroke used about a third as much fuel as we have been used to going thu. Pulling the grand-kids in tubes is nice that I can actually hear them screaming while having fun.😀

I had several Suzukis. DT4 - perfect little trolling motor! Shame it drowned. DT30 - corroded away even in brackish waters, but it was a beast of it's own time. Great oldtimer... DF50 - sweet engine. 3 cylinder... and just check it's compression! Never, never run a low octane on such compression engine. It will knock and it will overheat. Is you are not able to get the boat on plane fast, or you want to pull another boat ashore for prolonger time under load - it will overheat.

100% agree! I just purchased the 200 HP.
2 people test gets 5800 rpm. Then 4 people test only 5200 rpm? Not even try 6 people and contacted the dealer. I want my engine at 6000 to 6100 rpm loaded. Ends removing the propeller 3x16x23R and requesting 3x16x18.5R , I still waiting on the mail to arrive. I feel sorry for the customer without the knowledge and experience when the dealers are doing repower living the customer with a new engine and poor engine performance.

My family purchased two different 115 suzukis about 3 months apart. One ran 43 from the dealer with a 20p. Put a 24 on it and raised the motor 1 3/4 and its now running 54 on the limiter. We told the dealer we wanted to try a 26 and they told me I was crazy. They had never heard of a 115 with a 24p wanting more prop. For a 115 there pretty damn impressive to say the least.

I both sold and setup Suzuki's and I run a 2019 200 on a 2002 Nitro. Setup is very much a science experiment and I still tinker with mine. Pontoons and tinners are no problem. I'm pretty sure I know what I have to do to get the most out of mine (a bravo and a hydraulic plate). I just have to bring myself to spend the money to do it. Right now - 25p Suzuki 3 blade, 3.75 below pad on a 10" slidemaster gets me just about 59mph before I hit the rev limiter. The boat is still picking up speed and lifting when it does.lol I know my boat hull is a turd and only adds to the puzzle, but man what a motor. Ive been out of the marine game since 2016 but we were selling a couple truck loads of zukes a year back then and almost never saw them back in the shop. The Bad? Suzuki only manufactures a predetermined amount of outboards per year and once they sell out- thats it. Buy them early as trying to find one midseason can sometimes be a chore. You dont often find blow out pricing on year ends and non-current Suzuki's.

      That rigging tube is communist.
@@sha6mm I am late with this, lol, but it ended up @53mph. Propping these is very diff. The gear case ratio is very diff. I expected to us a 23p based on Yamaha and Merc experience. Man was that wrong, I am running a 26p and hitting 6100rrpm WOT. I am very pleased, the hole shot is great and the fuel economy is outstanding. I did the Engine Interface cable to bring the engine data to my Garmins. Shows everything from hours, fuel consumption water temp, motor trim position... and a krap load more.

The 2006 DF25 3 cylinder motors would vapor lock like no one’s business. Dad had one on a Lund and couldn’t drive down the lake if the temps were above 70 without continually pumping the primer bulb. Spent more time at the dealer its first 3 years than on the lake. Lower unit locked up in first 10 hours, second lower unit ALWAYS leaked water but passed both pressure and vacuum tests.

the Super-Six DT150 had the dual plug heads . Not talking EFI, but the early ones had I.C. Ignition then the floating-timing curve MicroLink system. Both were very easy to work on once you understood how they functioned and extremely reliable in my opinion. The sensors were all so easy to test, and as long as the ICU had power, it just worked. Ok there were a few failures early on, but again super advanced for their day. As far as carbs and CD ignitions go, even to this day I havent seen a more advanced system being fully digital. The 2.7 liter blocks were easy to make a 150 into a 200, and made huge torque.

They basically matched the height of the 90 and threw on a prop and said I was good to go. Didn’t do any sea trials as I really wanted them to do this to make sure it’s right. I suspect he personally has no idea how they work , thus the outcome of what he said. the reality is those motors had a STELLER service record. so good, in fact, Suzuki doubled the warranty to an unheard of 3 years in 1987, just one year after introduction. ask yourself this: the same basic design remained virtually unchanged up to stop of production. thats a testament to the design, and is obviously the motor that allowed them to pursue 4 strokes. if they had been a failure, Suzuki would not be in the outboard business today. fact. 99% of issues were with the idiot owners. i bet your commercial guys got over 2500 hrs out of them easily.

Suzuki needs a better dealer network. Id consider them if they had partnered with any boat brands around here or even had a dealer that sold them/serviced them

I have an old 15'8" aluminum traveler. ('90 last year of production). It's rated for a 60, has a huge tunnel. Has Evinrude's 48SPL and have been wanting to upgrade ever since the ETEC's came out. That old 48 just won't quit. Now want a 50 or 60 Suzuki... darn Rude won't quit. Can't justify 7k on a boat that ain't broke.

Andy was an influence on me when I purchased my 2020 250SS. I had an Etec 225 on my 2001 203 ChampioN at the time. I have owned Evinrude, Mercury's and Johnsons and Yamahas outboards. I still own a Yamaha and a Merc. So I can say the Suzuki is the most fuel-efficient, and the quietest I have ever had. As per performance goes, well I just did my 300 hr checkup and have had no problems with the motor other than tearing the skag off when I hit something under the water, When my insurance adjuster looked at it he could not believe the gears were in great shape to his surprise. I have good top-end speed @ 71mph. Most people know the Champion is the best riding boat ever made but not a speed boat like Allison. To the Na sayers, I will say u don't know what u don't know!

Hey Team, I have a Suzuki DF90A on my Stingray 182sc. The package is a 2020 year model. I only have around less than 25 hours on it. I’ve had it in the water one time this year and 14 hours on it in 2020. I got hurt in March of 2021 and was unable to take it out that year and most of this year. But so far I have to say that I really like it!

The ugly..it's heavy 105lbs with electric start I purchased it for my dinghy but it's too heavy to man handle off the swim platform onto the dinghy. I have it on a 15' aluminum fishing boat..

I own the white Gatortrax 21' Strike, with 300 Suzuki they posted in March. Sea level, I rip the 27p Scorpion 6200+rpm, and mid 70mph. 4800' elevation, and I run 5600, and mid 60's. Not shabby for a 3k+ pound aluminum battleship!!

Well… I’m about to do some testing of a new Suzuki 50hp on a 17’ duck hunting boat this fall.
    Should I install a jack/ kick plate?
Semi-v, step transom 17’ 56” across the floor with a 68” beam, tiller drive. What should I expect speed wise? Mid 30’s is what I’m thinking

Instead the outboard companies idling their larger motors down enabling them to troll, they should simply put two forward speeds in the lower end, one fast and one bull low speed for trolling. slow trolling at 1000 to 1200 rpm'. I do it with trolling bags. Great video by the way. So far we love our Suzuki.
Interesting how Honda is rarely mentioned in these outboard comparisons anymore.

If the dreaded twin spark plug 1999/2000 225 hp motor just all the sudden dies while running and doesn't restart. Compression check shows 120 in all cylinders...what is known about this engine to look toward replacing. I am thinking the ECU could be the culprit? Since it has the fuel injection system I haven't checked anything on it but no other indicator other than shutting off. Thanks I saw how you referenced the twin spark plug cylinder engine...so thinking you are not big fans of it...what have you found goes wrong with it! Thanks!

Yes your videos 💯 made me buy a Suzuki!! The first one I ran was a 150SS I put on my Stratos and it was love at first key turn. Then I got a Falcon with a 250SS and I freaking love it. I won’t own another outboard unless Suzuki really $hits the bed! I top out at 70MPH with a 27” scorpion which is great because I might get 3-4mph more with a Merc but I don’t want a POS motor just for a couple miles per hour.

I have a 2005 DT150 Suzuki outboard my lower is seized and shot! I refuse to let it go, we love this boat & motor! Problem is the parts are obsolete…. The gears are a manufacturing defect & well the one thing that seizes up in the lower! So we know what it is but can’t find crap for replacement parts!
We will fix it on our own however need any advice to find parts for it… google leads to nothing helpful. TIA

You definitely hit the nail on the head. My first Suzuki was a 2017 175hp on a 20' Shallow Sport saltwater boat here in Texas. A year and a half ago I purchased a 24' Shallow Sport boat with a junked Yamaha 250' SHO and knew that a 250ss was going to replace that motor. That's when I found your channel was was told to purchase different intake grates which I did before the boat ever got home from the shop. Other than propping the motor (the shop sure isn't going to help) you definitely can't go wrong with the Suzuki. Every weekend I get to the Texas coast, I see more Suzuki's and less of the other brand and coincidentally less break downs on the water!!!! Keep up the great channel...
